They are public Universities, tier 2 or regionally accredited.
Not everyone would have a profile admissible to first tier or Ivy leagues to qualify them for GA/TA/In-state tuition /tuition waiver.
Hope you know you don't need to be in a tier one school to get a waiver/assistantship..

Hi guys.....I defer my january spring admission to fall this year cause I was denied last year December, I gave nonsense answer to the question the Vo ask which is"why do you like UCMO (university of central Missouri)" she first look at me somehow, she didn't even bother asking another big question again before she gave me the color blue paper I pray will Never be mine again nor will I see or receive again.. this year I am ready by the special grace of God with a full bullet answers to all questionsexpect a question...please what is the appropriate answer to give to the question "why were you denied the last time or what has change between your last interview and now" with my Explanation above. And what should I write on DS-160 ....Thanks in advance guys...
Bolded smiley
The answer is simply what has changed. Have you applied to more schools? Do you have more money in your account now? Do you have a job/better one now? Do you now know more about your program/schools? etc

Hi All,

For a single working class guy, how can he prove home ties as I read in one of the previous pages that 'returning to your company' is not enough proof for home tie as the VOs know that MOST organization would not keep a position open for someone that went to study abroad.

Pls, lend your thoughts. Thank you

Nairalanders in any of these schools can help update with the current tuition fees and funding opportunities available on campus. Thanks.
Fees quoted are per semester.
I've not googled anything yet but looking at the names of these schools, I won't be surprised if they are just glorified community colleges..but then I may be wrong. Also, YouTube video uploaded when...
Note that international students usually qualify for in-state tuition on getting GAs,TAs etc. So I wouldn't search using your criteria, try the funding opportunities, ranking and possibly location first.

PLEASE guys I need your help .. Is it true that having relatives in the u.s affects chances of getting a visa? My mum and elder sister are both in the u.s, they are residents and legal although my sister bears a different surname from mine..someone suggested I say no, I don't have anyone but I will need to fill my mums info in my ds-160? Is there anyway they can check her details and detect its not true ? I dont know if therea a eay they can do thathould I just mention I have only my mum, or leave both out and say no.. I'm really confused and I need urgent opinions please. I really dont want this to affect me..has anyone admitted that they have relatives over there and it didn't affect them or has anyone successfully left it out that they have a parent there?
If they are residents and legal, you should be fine. That being said, not including your immediate family information on your application when the embassy can easily access those records can look like you're hiding something and cost you your visa

Are there any risks attached with traveling to Naija while on OPThuh Scared because of these Trump's executive orders.
On OPT, I wouldn't advise that you travel especially if you don't have a job yet. If you have already started working, the risk is much less but I wouldn't still advise to except really really important-in which case you would need to take a lot of documents along with you. Contact your school's international office.

Lalaboy on Da Boy FC Survive Relegation Scare!!

Veteran Manager Lalaboi Subusere Jabosile and his team pulled off what could be described as the greatest relegation escape in the history of the Nairaland Fantasy Premier league (NFPL).

The 1 time Quarter finalists were in danger of being relegated to the conference league and needed to take maximum points from the last 2 fixtures to stand a chance of remaining in the league. The gallant boys from Epe township stadium rose to the task and summoned their inner chi to win the last 2 games of the regular season. The last win in particular was perhaps one of the most thrilling matches so far this season.

Knowing what was at stake, Lalaboi who had complained about inadequate transfers all season and had to sacrifice his triple captain chip to specifically defeat Lami Jagun's Bourne007 who set out to relegate one of the maiden members of NFPL.

This is what lalaboi had to say: 'I would like to thank my sugar mummy, name withheld, she hired oloshos to the teams of OxyMorons , McKane FC, Jet Bombers and Dreamteam Fc. Those guys sold their league place for rotten kitten. Only Jetbombers was able to escape during the night to prepare of his last match and rescued a draw.

The result meant Lala To Da Boiy FC jumped 3 places up to 19th and avoided relegation in the 24man league.

On plans for the future, this is what he had to say "We will definitely be back next year, our season was derailed due to issues with the board and bad signing but we have corrected issues at the hierarchy. . They have promised full backing if we didn't relegate. We didn't, so expect me back on this blue chair next season. We are planning to buy Messi, Ronaldo and Griezman. . next Season? WE DIE HERE. . "
Lol..how did you join the conference league?

I have a BSc in Geology
GRE 293 - Quant: 151 Verbal: 142 AWA: 4
GPA: 3.77/5.0 but I'm yet to evaluate my transcript.
Please I will appreciate if you can tell me the list of schools you applied to biko.

Lastly it is very good to see how your determination has paid off for you.
You're missing the point here. You would learn a lot if you go through this process yourself instead of her just providing you a list. Her profile is different form yours and maybe even what she's studying now is not what you want. She has listed some sites for you-start from there!

In this 21st century, I don't have to be in the US to know that
We have LinkedIn and several other social media pages where you can connect with them and learn from their experiences

I did that and learnt a lot from them including the challenges they faced

And thats why I feel uncomfortable seeing people with no experience of these programs tell false stories and mislead people.

A top 10 MBA grad should share his experience here

Mind you, my analysis is for top 10 US MBA programs on US News. Anything below top 10 is not covered by my analysis.
OK

I smiled when I saw his comment sha

I'm even surprised why I rarely find any HBS /Wharton/Stanford GSB student here.

Taking loans is a thing of how risk averse you are. Maybe he is someone scared of taking risks and he opted not to take the $100k loan.

MBA recruitment is sensitive to ranking

Yes, his classmates join Boeing and Amazon but he can't compare the percentage of his class that joined those firms to the class at a top 10 program.

Also, the possibility of joining those programs from a lowly ranked school is difficult.

MBA is non STEM but there is a plethora of jobs and opportunities for people in top programs including international students.

It's your responsibility to grab those opportunities and utilize them to your best.

A LARGE number of Nigerians took those loans and are working in some of the best companies in the world now.

Those opportunities wouldn't have come if they had taken those fully funded offers to lowly ranked programs.

The big boys hire from top programs. Most people who take those loans do it cos they want to join some specific companies.

You can't compare the percentage of Kellogg MBA class entering McKinsey, Bain or Boston as Associates to the percentage of University of Texas Dallas MBA class entering those firms

You cant also compare the percentage of Wharton MBA class entering top Private Equity firms to the percentage of George Washington University MBA students entering those firms

My advice to anyone seeking to go for MBA is to visit websites like gmatclub.com, poetsandquants.com and beatthegmat to learn more from people in the field.

Taking advice from someone who doesn't know Jack about MBA programs is detrimental to your future. The only thing they tell you is "MBA is non-STEM" .
Are you in the US at all? or you're just reading all these up? You seem to have a few things mixed up here.

Hi all, I have been a silent reader of this thread, and to be honest it's been really helpful at the same time Confusing cause their are lots of vital information to grap and dijest. I graduated with a 2.2 GPA in quantity surveying I'm currently rounding up my nysc in a few months time, I intend to do my masters in the US , but I don't know where to start from.

Should I start with registering for GRE or TOEfl because of my low GPA before proceeding for admission processes (which I don't even know where to start from) .
I was thinking of preparing very well for the exams (that is if I register for the exam) in other to get a scholarship (if I A's the courses ).

A friend told me about an agent whose job is getting admission for students in the US, according to him the guy is legit cause he has been doing such business for years, should I pay him to help me get admission or should I do it myself?

Just as someone said in part 12 of this thread " if you don't give it a try you will never know.
I intend to give my all in other to make this work.
That's all.
Do you really want to go to grad school? I see no mention of a proposed course of study, or schools you are looking at.

One thing I will tell you is that loads of people going for undergrad do this themselves..I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to as a graduate-the process is not complicated. I never support the use of agents or anything like that;they can put false information on critical application documents which can land you a ban..of course after enjoying your money. My advice? continue reading through the thread. You'll get a hang of it.

Please apart from graduate assistantship, how does one get a scholarship for masters studies?
There are a variety of ways to get funded as a graduate student. You can get a 'scores-based' assistantship from the school, department, a faculty right from the start. You can get a teaching job (TA/GTA). You can also still get assistantships even after one or more semesters in school which in some cases are not purely performance based, but coupled with your ability to run around school and find research opportunities.

Please I need someone to help me shed more light on the possibility of v.o’s approving visa for an individual going to university of Idaho through there global student success program. The benefit of the g.s.s.p is that you are Not applying with either gre nor toefl ,the first two terms is for English courses and other pre masters subject. You tend to pay a deposit to book your seat before your I-20 can be issued to you. May I know if this is a credible way when presented to the v.o as I have done my research on the program and also the school. Please gurus in the house , help with this
Forget that global success program thing and apply for a proper degree..go for a Bachelors/Masters/PhD. You are just going there to waste money anyways based on the info you've provided here. Even if you don't want to take the GRE or TOEFL which I strongly discourage, there are still hundreds of schools that don't have that requirement. Get googling!
That being said, deposits don't guarantee visas plus it can be a hassle to get it back if you don't get a visa.

Couldn't be better said than this. A Harvard MBA graduate can never be poor for example.
If the employability rate for these courses are low from the top schools, prodigyfinance.com would not guarantee and risk giving loans to prospective students. Remember all these courses are also stem courses. Also to note, most of these schools also give full or partial scholarships too.

I applied for an offer to IMD business school in Lausanne, Switzerland and was told the total needed fees was about $150,000 for a year course but you are almost guaranteed an offer of job, and some also start up their own ventures. Average pay from entry level graduates here is about $154,000 per annum.

An African MBA from Zambia raised about $10m after graduating from a business school in Europe (Utrecht business school), a year after graduation.
Yes, a Harvard MBA grad can be 'poor'..there are lots of stories out there on the internet. Like I've mentioned a few times here, it's more about your networks, potential referrals at top schools. You can spend several thousands of dollars and still not get a decent job.
