Xup guys.. Does anyone use Ntel on their Xiaomi phone? I got the sim for my Redmi note 3 special edition but i cant even see network... Nothing. Saying no service... If i search manually wth my Glo line i see Ntel 4g so it is covered in my area. I have already tried the changing to lte only thing, doesn't work. Any ideas?

Like you, I tried all manner of stuffs, almost got frustrated till It I got a trick that made it work easily. It may also work for you.

1. Configure your Apn to ntel and choose as your default internet sim

2. Go to preferred network on ntel sim and set to 2g only this is very important and it's the trick that worked.

3. After setting to 2g only, then launch *#*#4636#*#* once you select the info for the ntel sim, you should see gsm only already selected. This is also very important.
If gsm only is not selected, you gave to force close it and start the steps again.
But once gsm only appears, just change it to LTE only and viola you will see network. Worked for smile too

Based on the hype here, I decided to use the default miui browser for the very first time..

It's really good., super fast and very very power efficient. Eats less battery compared to chrome or uc.

Will be using it often from now on. Especially for some heavy sites

You have to disable miui optimisation in developer option first before you can get the default android battery use page and not miui battery use page

I noticed that my battery has lasted longer since I optimized all the MIUI apps on the advice of haysmart.

My SOT was 13hrs 2minutes 45seconds, and I still had about 50% battery left on a little above moderate use.

You're even going too far with the above example. Band support is mostly hardware issue.

File type support is just a software issue which an app can easily fix.

I remember there was a time that most phones will not play mkv files by default, you had to download a video app from the app store to be able to watch mkv films. But now most default player has included mkv codec.

Even right now some default players cannot handle x265 encoded movies. That's why we have app stores

Just tried Aesir browser Pro, on my Umidigi Z1 Pro. Guess what? It played it directly......

It will also play on a xiaomi with the browser. The browsers probably has Inbuilt codec to support the file

Download the file and play then get back to us with the feedback, cos that's where the issue is and not with playing directly from browser. Even play music can't play the file. Maybe one may need to install a codec pack to play it on music players

Actually any phone will play it directly from Google Drive if you use chrome.

Download it and try to play the downloaded file. Most music players will not play it, but video players have no issue playing the file.

On the other hand, cos miui is highly customised Android overlay, you will hardly notice the difference between Android versions.

I know someone that did an update on miui and he didn't even know he had been updated to nougat from marshmallows. As far as he was concerned there was absolutely no difference in his day to day interaction.

So for xiaomi, android version update is not as important as miui updates

@airex, calling Gazzuz names was totally uncalled for. Like people said, he simply have you a professional solution which to him was probably a long term fix. Nothing absolutely wrong in what he did.
They're was also nothing absolutely wrong in you seeking a short term fix from another Mechanic which may not even be a Kazeem like most people think.
I'm sure even Gazzuz may have on several occasions done short term fix depending on his judgement and his clients pocket/personal pocket. What matters most is communication and respect for each individual's mode of operation.

The phone is Redmi 4A. I bought it because it supports Smile's 4G band 20. From what i read here, only two xiaomi phones supports Smile's band 20 for now. They are this redmi 4A and Note 4 Global. So I dont think your phone will work with Smile even if it is 4G because it does not support band 20. There is no trick to that. I stand to be corrected by my ogas at the top

I have tried all possible tricks to get my smile to work on my RN3SE without luck. Only solution was to flash ASOP rom, but im too much in love with miui to use another rom

I also have a Kate and I have tried to no avail to get data only 4g Sims to work. Network just appeared for a few seconds then disappears again.

So obviously, the issue is from miuI. Unfortunately for me I'm addicted to miui. I wish we can get a solution to make it work out miui.

48hrs with the latest 8.2 update on my phone. Not bad at all. Phone feels much more faster and smoother. Battery life still very okay.

What phone? Stable or developer rom.
I never see 8.2 update on RN3SE

redmi note 3 screen is what you need

Redmi note 3 and redmi note 3 special edition have slightly different dimensions. So the screens will not fit.

My RN3SE had a nasty fall. My screen cracked, it has turned to a spider web. Thank God the phone is still fine and responding to touch. I know some other phones with the slightest crack, no more touch response.

But what surprises me is that this phone is so popular, yet I cannot find replacement screen anywhere on the internet. This is very strange. Yet it's brother, the redmi note 3 has readily available parts.

Anyone found any Link to replacement screen for RN3SE? ??

Is there subscription on the sim? Did you have network signal.
I tried, but the ntel 4g signal just appeares for a few seconds then disappears each time I switch from air plane to network mode.

I Just assumed probably cos there was no subscription on it.

Seems nobody has been able to get RN3SE to work on 4g data only Sims.

Anyone?

It is a bug. The only time xiaomi can restrict access to a particular network band is when it has license issues just like the case of 4G in Indonesia. There, no option of 'LTE only.

I believe all the mobile phone manufacturers are out to maximize their profit. So they'll continue to produce phones that cuts across the globe irrespective of any network restrictions.

This is not a restriction, it just defaults to 3g which in a lot of countries is more prevalent than 2g. you can always set to 2g.

The same way most new radios now default to fm frequency unlike before that they default to am radio. It's just the times.

Maybe in future, they may completely phase out 2g network, who knows.

Can't remember the thread on miui forum, but I read it that it was intentional and not a bug
