What does he stand to gain from working against a government led by his kinsman and benefactor? He is a face of the cabal playing the scripts of Mr President orchestrated by Oshiomole and Abba Kyari. Hedonini: As the siege on the National Assembly was taking place to the consternation of the entire country and international observers, it was an embarrassed Prof Yemi Osibanjo that called Buhari in panic and asked whether he had authorised the DSS action. Buhari demurred, but ultimately denied having any knowledge about it.
Osibanjo then summoned the NSA and the IGP to get their views on the matter, and they revealed that APC Chair Oshiomhole - in concert with the Chief of Staff Kyari, DG DSS Daura, and certain unnamed presidential power brokers had orchestrated the plot to besiege the National Assembly and pave the way for Saraki's forceful impeachment. However, along the line, Oshiomhole and the others got livid as they suspected that Daura was a double agent who probably leaked the plan to Saraki and the press thereby thwarting the plot.
Osibanjo felt belittled that such a monumental decision could be taken and executed without his knowledge and immediately rang up Buhari again and protested the impunity and denigration of his office as Acting President. Knowing the strong ties between Daura and Buhari and knowing how difficult it is to break the bond between both men, Osibanjo emphatically declared his readiness to immediately tender his resignation if Daura was not removed. Buhari, knowing the disastrous implication of Osibanjo's resignation over the matter, reluctantly granted Osibanjo the authorisation to take disciplinary action against Daura.
Consequently, Osibanjo summoned Daura and asked him to explain the rationale behind his impudent action. As is characteristic of his interaction with Osibanjo who he holds in disdain, Daura was insouciant and even condescending in his response. He simply affirmed his allegiance to President Buhari and reiterated that he is only answerable to the President - not knowing that the tide had turned against him. Consequently, Osibanjo ordered his dismissal and arrest.

TimFisher2: it is very laughable when i hear alleged rumours going round that Senate President Saraki was the one that ordered DSS to invade the National Assembly
Well for people that don't understand the security apparatus,i am going to explain this based on my experience of how security architecture works in the seat of power,Aso rock.
It is the only the President or the Vice President that has the power either to summon/send or give orders to the security Agencies when ever there is need either to quell violence, threat or terrorism,or anything related to National Security
The office of the National Security Adviser is the only agency that gives such order, and he is answerable to the President or Vice President alone
Another office that has the mandatory right to give such orders is the Attorney General of the Federation, but the order comes to play if the President or Vice is under threat or removed from office or incapacitated to function!
No security orders can be taken from any soul,it must go through the National Security Adviser which comes from the President direct
So when people start saying it was Saraki that ordered DSS to invade the national assembly,it is regrettable, total ignorance and stupidity
If the Senate President has powers,he can also force the Security agencies to block the President or the Vice from moving to their offices as a check or even usurp the President convoy
Nobody has the powers to summon security Agencies apart from NSA which must go through direct from the President or Vice. It's unfortunate that large number of people believe this lie from APC. Saraki has no such power |

Please what are you driving at na? smirn: what is wrong if the DSS block the entrance of the NA. The stupid musician has not taken time to find out what actually took place. In the first place, the DSS did not stop the NA members for gaining entrance of the NA. Report has it before now that some members of the National Assembly especially the members of the house have been laying siege at the NA based on impeachment remour of the speaker and Senate President. Everything has procedure as enshrined in the constitution. These politicians has police and DSS attached to them for security, so while crying wolf because you saw security men at the NA gate. On channel's this morning it was so quick for Linda Akhigbe to report on Sunrise Daily that the DSS blocked the entrance of the NA and preventing lawmakers and Journalist for gaining access while allowing only APC Senator through another back door. It was subsequently as the program was still on another report came in that the NA members are freely going into the chamber. The truth remains that the NA has fixed the sitting for today at 9am and the DSS was on ground on the invitation of the Clerk. The pictures and videos did not show the security men molesting anybody. We only saw two persons whom I believed are members of the house of Representatives and from the opposition party ranting . We should condemn the act of some lawmakers unnecessarily besieging the assembly complex when there is no sitting or before the stipulated time for sitting and creating uncalled tension and misinformation. Some members of the NA has developed the attitude of sneaking into the NA chamber even at night as well as scaling through the fence to execute some evil plans. It is time such behaviors need to be condemned. |
Politics › Aftermath Of DSS Invasion Of NASS Complex: Saraki, Dogara Postpone Meeting by Bimpe29(op): 3:01pm On Aug 07, 2018 |
Following the on-going invasion of the National Assembly complex by men of the Department of State Services (DSS) in which legislators and members of staff, including the Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Omolori, who is the administrative head of the Federal legislature, were harassed and prevented from accessing their offices, Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki and Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara have condemned the action of the security agents and described it as another attempt to subevert the nation's democracy.
In a statement jointly signed by the two presiding officers of both Chambers of the National Assembly, Saraki and Dogara stated that the heavy presence of armed security men who unnecessarily militarized the legislative complex and harassed legislators and the workers in the complex could not be justified in a democracy.
The Senate President and Speaker further noted that today was a sad day for democracy as very early in the morning, they got reports backed by video and pictures, from members of staff of the National Assembly, their colleagues from both chambers and other individuals, about the heavy presence of the security personnel who insisted that nobody would enter the complex except certain Senators who were to be conveyed into the complex in a Coaster bus.
"By 6.30 am, the reports started coming in and by 7am, there were pictures and video online showing armed security men preventing Senators and Honourable members from coming into the Complex. Some of our colleagues then mobilized other members in both chambers from their respective abode so that they could pressurize the Security men from allowing them to gain entry.
"Obviously, the public outcry from Nigerians and members of the international community against this illegality, this desecration of the sanctity of the legislature and this flagrant abuse of powers forced the government to relax the directives given to the security men as they later allowed the legislators to walk from the main gate into the foyer. Still the lawmakers were not allowed to drive in, in their vehicles and were denied access into the main building housing their offices.
"It is not clear what the plan of the government is but information reaching us indicated that some Senators who are pro-executive arm are being camped somewhere here in Abuja and they are being compelled to sign an impeachment notice that would later be brought to the Assembly complex. The Senate Chamber will now be forced open to enable an illegal change of leadership take place in the Senate.
"It should be noted that the Senate formally adjourned on July 24, 2018 and it stands adjourned. To reconvene, there is a process which has to be followed. Also, it should be clear that these Senators who are camped somewhere know the procedure for changing the leadership of the Senate. Both the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Presidency officials masterminding this illegality know that they do not have the numbers to lawfully carry out this action.
"Therefore, we call on members of the international community to view this development as a coup against democracy. This is a throw-back to the inglorious days of military rule where dissent is not tolerated and freedom of association and other fundamental human rights are willfully and carelessly violated.
"We urge Nigerians and the international community to condemn this illegal invasion of the National Assembly complex and the attempt to asphyxiate the legislature as undemocratic, uncivilized and irresponsible.
"Let us use this opportunity to thank our colleagues in the Senate and House of Representatives who immediately mobilized to resist this coup against democracy. Their action will be recorded as one taken at a time when the soul of this country is being imperilled. They have acted to avert the breakdown of constitutionalism and collapse of the rule of law. They have stood up to dictatorship and demonstrated that this country belongs to all of us.
"We also thank members of the press, local and international, and all Nigerians whose support for the cause of democracy have sustained us this far.
Following this unpleasant development, the joint leadership meeting slated for this afternoon has been postponed till further notice because under the prevailing circumstances, we cannot guarantee the safety of the 20 members from both chambers expected at the meeting", Saraki and Dogara stated.
Signed 1. Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON President of the Senate
2. Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara Speaker, House of Representatives |
