Poignant and apt. This article pierces straight through the hyperbole that is US propaganda of world supremecy, and it was done with salient reasoning.
It is obvious the US role on the world stage is changing, but this article is anything but salient. It is obviously biased. Think about it. The F35 program is a drop in the bucket to the US Navy presence worldwide. Google it and see how ridiculously massive it is.

If China does attain supremacy, it is going to to take another 25 to 30 years easily. The US is slowing down, but it has mass. An economy with half a trillion people is not going to slow down appreciably in less than a decade. For the same reason, China's mass means it is not going to achieve the economic clout it wants for another 2 decades. Already it is much harder to maintain the growth they had earlier on, and they may very well be cooking the books (just like the US lol)

The most likely scenario - USA's 20th century domination is done. Instead we will have regional powers. Question is who controls Africa... I think we actually need democratic strongmen in Africa...strong willed presidents who can marshall African countries to fend for themselves as the world powers realign themselves. Personally, this is one of my reasons for preferring a Buhari over GEJ, but lets not bring that here tongue

Believe me nothing would happen to Buhari till he is sworn in, and when he gets assassinated,ie if he is…… USA would be the first to analyze, conclude and point out the culprits , the whole world and Africa's media will echo US stance, and that's what your people will act on, and that's what will be written in history, your tiny voice won't even be heard by the dude standing next to you, and if you scream…Conspiracy Theory hehehe.

Don't worry, all these you are thinking will not happen, but IT will happen and you'd be surprised.
What is with all this doomsday stuff. USA this...USA that... Did they not predict this election would end Nigeria? Did it? Are they God? Haba!

I distinctly remember you waffling about Buhari before the elections. Now you are wondering about his assasination should he become the leader we want. What new theory are you guys going to bring out 6 months from now?

All your theories implicitly assume we are unable to steer our own destiny in the face of conspiracy. You do realize this in of itself is racist right?

Whose fault is it that Cuban and the Mavs did not scout their roaster needs properly before getting Rondo, there is absolutely no way Rondo would succeed with the Mavs except he is on the bench, the Mavs don't need a ball hugging pure PG who commands and directs the pace of the game like Rondo, the first team is way too mobile as every player wants to touch the ball, they are all pure shooters in their own rights, so mixing Rondo with them would only be detrimental to their game, the Mavs are no longer a half court team, they are not the Grizzlies or Bulls that depend solely on the activities of the PG to spread the ball.
Rondo is a fit for this team. Carlisle's system is the same, the same one that made an old JKidd with questionable shot but good passing shine. In fact the one ring they won literally boiled down to Jkidd outsmarting LeBron and taking a half court charge at the end of a pivotal playoff game. Thats exactly Rondo's skill set, except he is even younger.

Seriously, any Yoruba human being who really believe Igbo claim that lagos is a no man's land is completely a fool. Igbos reinforce that claim in other to increase the yoruba people's anger, and all for fun on NL, but Igbos will also risk yoruba over reaction to spill over to the street. Igbos want a way out of Lagos or Nigeria.
I dont think Yorubas can be baited into overreacting. I think there are a few folks who want that so they can hasten the split of the country...wont happen.

Im torn on Heat making the 8th spot. It will suck if one season after LBJ leaves, Heat go from Finals to not even making the playoffs, in the east! But I fear they would be a bad matchup for Atlanta, which I actually want to see advance to the ECF at least. The Heat are dangerous enough to upset Atlanta with limited playoff experience

It can't translate in court if the coaches and players around him don't understand him, Rondo is a perfectionist, he is always thinking ahead of plays and most coaches don't, Its like a kid with schizophrenia, who is way to direct in his approaches and has expectations society deems abnormal, on his good night, I mean the era of the big three in the Garden, Rondo is better than those names up there, yes I dare say even better than CP3, if only he gets some freedom to play some calls.

I doubt we would ever see the best of Rondo ever again, I fear his decline is imminent and he might decide to retire early from frustrations.
you realize this guy is being paid millions to play on a functioning team. A team with a championship ring. Maybe Im personally biased but the dude has some growing up to do. For crying out loud this guy has his own kids...you think he lets them get disrespectful becuase "nobody understands them"?
Man, Im glad Carlisle is an old school coach...if need be ship this dude out... was picking the Mavs to be the surprise team out of the west this year angry

Funny man. You really think JK will do an Afonja? It's all about votes man. It is wishful thinking to imagine that JK will win and automatically become Azikiwe, the Igbos are being played.
Thats what Afonja thought too. He really just wanted to get into power, not give Ilorin away, but once he created that break, he could not fill the power vacuum quick enough. Of course JK is trying to use the Igbos here, damaging their reputation in the process. But PDP is also playing JK, using him to start an internecine war that will create confusion and a possible power vacuum in Lagos.

In a desperate attempt to win, I think PDP has unleashed the ethnic genie from the bottle. And I am not sure if it can be put pack..this situation can grow legs quickly if cooler heads dont prevail. The only group I can see winning is the folk who want a divided nation at all costs. This kind of confusion is exactly what they are hoping for.

APGA leader urges Igbos to vote Agbaje, PDP

The leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Lagos State has called on eligible Igbo voters in the state to cast their votes for the Peoples’ Democratic Party in protest against the hate remarks by Rilwanu Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos.

Campbell Umeh-Nzekwe told PREMIUM TIMES in an interview, Tuesday, that Igbo residents in Lagos stand a better chance of fulfilling their potentials under the PDP than the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“Since PDP has given us opportunity by allowing Ndi Igbo to win (three) House of Reps and go to Abuja and defend Igbo interest and Lagos interest, because we are all Lagosians,” said Mr. Umeh-Nzekwe, who contested for governor in Lagos State in 2003.

“Then I’m of the candid opinion that it’s better you support what you are having. Except APC are now coming again on the table to tell us what they will offer us if they win.

“There must be bargaining power in between. In the absence of that, I ask Ndi Igbo to vote for PDP because PDP has given us opportunity, and we need a lot of opportunity to grow. That’s what we are asking for, not peanuts or hand-outs from APC leaders. Give us opportunity to run for elections.

“Than looking for where they are chasing shadow, in APC, after 16 years they use one dummy – one commissioner and one member in the state executive – to deceive Ndi Igbo.”

Mr. Akiolu had told Eze Ndi-Igbos (Igbo traditional rulers) of all the local government areas in Lagos State, who had come to pay him a courtesy visit, that they should cast their votes for his chosen governorship candidate or “perish inside the lagoon.”

The Oba supports the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Akinwunmi Ambode.

Mr. Umeh-Nzekwe blamed the Igbo chiefs, who he described as “political traders,” for Mr. Akiolu’s hateful remarks.

“How can you tell a race, like an Igbo race, that they will die or lagoon will swallow them if they did not vote for APC? It’s because there are people who went there to go and beg him for money,” he said.

“Some people gathered themselves and went to him. He give them kola, and giving you kola and asking you to go and vote for somebody, let’s take it that he armed them to go and vote.

“If so called Ezes dragged themselves and went to the Oba palace to go and pay unsolicited homage, what do you expect at the end of the day?”

Mr. Umeh-Nzekwe said during the election period, a lot of people had claimed to be representing the interests of Igbo people in order to obtain favour from politicians and prominent people.

“This is a political period. Some group of Ezes went to Tinubu, some were campaigning for Jonathan. I know some group who say they are Eze. Everybody is claiming Eze in Lagos, that’s why we will never find our level.

“Ndigbo cannot vote for APC. PDP have allowed non-indigenes to participate. APC closed their doors, non-indigenes cannot contest elections under APC. You can see from the whole arrangement that there is no non-indigene from the whole candidates they fielded for the election,” he said.

“In 2003, I ran for governor of Lagos State under APGA. In 2006, when the issue of Funsho Williams and APGA was trying to form an alliance prior to 2007 election, Tinubu appointed Ben Akabueze as Commissioner for Planning and Budget, and appointed Joe Igbokwe as Publicity Secretary of AD (Alliance for Democracy) then.

“Up till today, there is no other appointee of Ndi Igbo either in the party or in the cabinet of Lagos State government, apart from other administrative and council officers. There is no any other political appointment, either as commissioner or DG or Permanent Secretary. So it’s like a dummy.”

The APGA leader argued that Yorubas do not get the same opportunity in the South East because Lagos is a “colonial settlement.”

“It’s a cosmopolitan city. The name itself ‘Lagos’ is a Portuguese name, not a Yoruba name, or Igbo or Hausa name. Do we have such in Igbo land? We don’t have such.

“Lagos is purely a colonial settlement, forget those who are claiming it. Some people came from Ogbomosho, they are only enjoying proximity. And they are taking the thing as the owner of the land, which is wrong.

“In those days you dare not cross Marina, there is a prison yard near that Marina there, you don’t cross there because they will arrest you and put you in cell. You don’t go there. All the Ikoyi you see, all the Victoria Island, was a colonial master arrangement, not a Yoruba arrangement. So the issue of Igbo land and Yoruba land is a different thing.

“If you say Igbo man cannot go to Oyo State or Ekiti State and contest, I will concede, but Lagos is a colonial settlement, not a Yoruba land. They are only laying claim.”

I believe that at the very least, the Ngige/Okorocha/Amaechi axis has earned its stripes as a power broker. I would not be surprised to see their 'boys' getting into the upcoming government. I think OP is still living in the past. I truly believe that the next crop of folks want Nigeria to work. Leaving out any group of people would be a bad idea.
PoliticsRe: Igbos And Yorubas: Do We Really Hate Each Other? by birdman(m): 2:40am On Apr 02, 2015
mensdept:
Perhaps said already, but it is not hate for Yorubas by everyone in the South, but disappointment.

Why, I don't know, because Yoruba will always do whats in their interest first and foremost, as witnessed in the last election. They can't be doing southern solidarity if that means Airports in Port Harcourt and Enugu may overtake the one in Lagos during another 4 years of GEJ. They can't be doing southern solidarity if the East may get another state, additional positions in the military, banking, etc.

No, I m not saying GEJ did as much in his first term, or the PDP governors ( like Theo Orji), but in 9ja, Yorubas and the Northerners do whats in their interest-no matter how controversial, and the rest is history. Not necessarily a bad thing
Wasn't it these same Yorubas that marched (and died) for Jonathan when Yar Adua died? Didnt they vote him en-masse into power 2 years later? So where is this "disappointment" coming from. Instead, arent you disappointed that in 6 years, GEJ from the SS wanted no part of the PIB bill? Where was this southern solidarity when Yorubas were left alone to shoulder the June 12 mandate. You are funny grin
