Humans can never be pleased. Which kind backhand compliment be this?

If he plays hard, he’s stat padding.

If he doesn’t, then he simply doesn’t care to give enough effort.

Wetin una want exactly huh
If Lebron gets injured this year only to miss playoffs or get blown out in the first round, that would be foolish, do you agree? Sometimes its better to shut it down, recuperate and come back.

And I have never accused Lebron of stat padding. If Lebron is on the floor he is good for a triple double any night, we all know that. Question is, is it worth the risk on a 37 year old body.
SportsRe: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 1:58pm On Mar 22, 2022
I still feel Lebron's intensity this late in a lost season is a foolish and lost cause, but I have to give props where its due. When the guy said he wasnt going to quit, he meant it. It takes a special breed to still lay it out on the floor every night. And it sets a very good example for the rest of the team. We play hard till the end.

Lol, I have very little ill will towards Harden. I no get energy abeg grin

Sometimes, I actually pity him, because I dont think he fully grasps what it means to sacrifice to win - the guy is addicted to partying. Like I told Roland17, I really want to see how Embiid handles this if the playoff dreams do not materialize this year.

I was thinking, what if they introduce a rule to put a limit to the number of three pointers a team can make in a game?
Say not more than 15 threes attempt in regular minute and 3 in OT?
Would that make sense? Cus it appears a lot of folks believe that the advant of the 3-pointer has made basketball boring...
A better option is to allow more aggressive defense, and give perimeter defenders more benefit of the doubt. The hand check rule also needs to be repealed. It will kill some peoples games, eg the Harden, Klay etc and tilt the game back towards skilled bigs and big guards. Just my own opinion.

I don't think he's hurt right now but for his size and salary his play is just too mediocre and inconsistent. Was a bad trade by the Mavs in the first place
He is not hurt, but he is still missing games.

you know mark cuban has a weakness for euro players. He was thinking he had a second Nowitzki. But Porzingis turned out to be more like Chandler Parsons

This Celtics defense is serious boy. How do you hold the Warriors to 32 points at the half shocked

And how fitting is it that it's Dinwiddie that hit the dagger on Brooklyn. Offloading Porzingis is already looking like a masterstroke
At this rate, Porzingis wont be in the league in the next 2 seasons. The way the guy man dey miss games, he makes AD look like Navy SEAL.

Bro! I just came here to rant about the same thing. Lebron is being an old fool right now - shut this thing down and wait till next season. There has to be an adult somewhere in the Lakers organization that can effect this.

I need to find clips of this trolling grin

I kind of agree with you. Maybe I should say this, I don't think he is the worst because he has gotten better neither do I think he is good. There is something about color commentary that makes it easy to listen to. Reggie struggles to remain focused in the game, poor analysis of the game, gets easily distracted, makes too much reference/ comparisons about himself when plays happen on the court, tries to be funny all the time during broadcasts and is fearful of being pragmatic when players have poor nights (He is almost scared of calling them out).

With that being said, I will take Reggie Miller over Chris Webber who I consider the worst.
bwahahaa, I had Webber in there, then I deleted him. I was like maybe its just me lol

Man!!! Do I love when Hubie Brown is running color commentary. His knowledge of the history of the game, including players is unrivaled. He breaks down the numbers and schemes as they happen on the court and it simplifies the game for any basketball head.
They need to stop Miller from color commentary and move on to something else. That guy has had a couple of years to get better, and is still below par.

Are you kidding me? Shut it down when there's a record in sight? cheesy grin. We will continue to statpad and remind you he's 37.
If it was stat-padding, the assists and blocks would not be up too. I think its more he wants to win and get into the play-ins at all cost. The Lakers front office should force him to shut down.

The Mavs trade for dinwiddie has been paying dividends since day one. Hope it continues through the playoffs.
Indeed. I thought it was hugem because it gives them the scoring punch Porzingis never lived up to. And this guy likes to go to the rack. These playoffs are going to be crazy, t here are lots of middle seeded teams that can pull upsets. Bulls with Caruso and co returning from injury is a dark horse in the east as well.

Philly like anyone but more so the Sixers should do everything they can to avoid a healthy and available Nets team. Sixers lost a lot of scoring that Harden can not compensate or match consistently. After last night, there is no way the Sixers are not conscious of the fact that they don’t match up well against a healthy and available Nets team.

The beat down was so bad that the fans forgot B. Simmons was even sitting on the bench..lol. Simmons had the best experience grin
Harden IMO is not the traditional superstar. He affects the game by scoring, but he is not going to win you games on defense or making others better. And even that level of scoring has been missing last 2 seasons. Which means Sixers gave up too much for him.

Harden has always choked against good teams, that's the exact thing we pointed out to you recently, you'll see more of this tilll Philly gets knocked out, Go see the game again or watch the highlights and see the faces of them Philly players, The disgust was obvious, he'll always jack up 3's rather than find an open man or move the ball faster.
I missed the game but this sounds very familiar. He tries to iso and go it alone under pressure. I was always worried that selfish Harden would pop up and ruin Embiids MVP season.

Westbrook Westbrick needs to leave the Lakers ASAP for his own sanity. He is beginning to react negatively to a lot of things and these things are getting under his skin.

For the sake of his family who is now getting involved in every spat, he needs to take the high road and leave LA! It is not worth trying to prove anything or anyone wrong at this point.

Fans will be fans, it’s never going to change! Telling the world you are going to start taking issues with fans who address you as Westbrick has just weaponized the fans, especially away fans to heckle your name to stupor and that would lead to more distractions and frustration.

Let me also add this. Westbrook’s team mates in LA from the top to the button have failed him in showing strong support for the man. Granted he should shoulder the responsibility of his situation but the last time I checked it is a team game and his team mates have just about abandoned him.
You can only support a man to the extent he is willing to support himself. When they asked him what his expectations were coming to LA, he could have helped himself with a better answer. If Westbrook will not help himself, why are we asking others to help him? Bros, na so life be - if you decide that you have strong head, your wiser friends and team mates allow you. You cant save a struggling man in water, both of you will drown.

WB needs to man up, get his wife, mom etc out of the media spotlight and face this alone. Curry had the same issue with Ayesha getting into the spotlight: it never ends the way you want it to end. And I dont understand why he is whining. Either you can play or you cant. Either you will play the way coach wants you to, or you wont. These are man decisions, and I dont think anyone, including teammates should be sorting this out for him. Is he sharing his salary with them?

Lol. Bam? Now you're just taking the piss

Are you serious right now? Didn't I tell you the only thing bigs do better now is shoot the 3? Did you watch Shaq before he was a 300 pounder? In his Orlando days when he was still slim?

Zion? Lmaoooo. Zion is basically Blake Griffin with more melanin. Stop mistaking genetics for actual skills

Did you watch Hakeem? Chris Webber? David Robinson, Karl Malone?

I'm asking you again. What is today's league and bigs better at besides spamming 3 point shooting
Somehow you skipped the first 5 I mentioned: Giannis, KAT, Jokic, AD, Embiid, to focus on Bam. Nice try. Because you know those 5 destroy your argument. But lets leave that for now.

I purposely did not mention Hakeem because he was not in KG's era, but if you go to Hakeem's era, which other big man was versatile? Please dont mention Shawn kemp or Ewing lol. Shaq at the end of Hakeem's era was very dominant, but he had to be in the post to do damage.

Webber was nice, but is he Embiid or Jokic of Giannis level? No. He was an expcellent passer with a midrange jumpshot.

David Robinson? Loool. stop it. The Admiral was a defensive machine, but needed Timmy D to get that ring. Look how Hakeem flogged him!

Karl Malone? What was his stats without the Stockton PnR. Could he shoot the 3? Or pass to any PG not named Stockton?

I can forgive Chris Webber, but The Admiral and the Mail Man? Bwahahahaha grin

A40:
Alaye. What does a KAT do better than a KG, Hakeem besides shooting 3's? In terms of pure fundamentals and all round play.

I just told you the only difference between the 90s and this era is the 3pt shooting so your argument is completely moot. Everyone wants to be like Steph now.

That's why I challenged anyone to show me what this era is better at besides shooting more 3pointers
Cool, I'll give you that, KG over KAT. Now how many bigs in KG's day could do similar. Timmy D, who else. Today we have countless bigs with similar skillset. Embiid, KAT, Jokic, AD, KD, Giannis. Even second tier folk like Bam. We haven't even looked at the rookie/sophomore class yet! I didnt even add Zion! The league is far deeper and more skilled.

When KG came out of high school, that was like phenomenal, like we never see that before. Now, guys are coming out of high school and balling within one season.

Oga that's not how this maths works. One person is shooting 2s while the other is shooting 3s. Don't make it as if one is shooting 3s while the other is shooting neither 2s nor 3s. I saw one rubbish math someone put up here just to mislead people. If both Tatum and Bird shoot 20 shots per game (and assuming they make all), but Tatum shoots 8 threes and Bird shoots only 3, that accounts for 5 more points than Bird.
(2×17) + (3×3)= 34+9 = 43 for Bird
(2×12) + (3×8 )= 24+24 = 48 for Tatum

And for your info, Bird averaged 0.7 made threes per game for his career. Tatum is averaging 2.2. That accounts for less than 2 more points. Tatum's record for most 3s in a game is 9. Bird is 7, twice. And who knows whether he had his 50+ points in either of those games. So I really don't see the fuss about 3 point shooting.
Dem stat masters are here smiley

So what is the quality of the average player now? Which body measured this and certified it better. This is such cap and lazy punditry

You are using an outlier team that were great and tying it solely to their size. Bear in mind the Redskins O-Line were smaller than even the historically great O-lines of all time. In a position historically with the most size and the least skill. How does that help your argument as to how athletes are better or stronger?

The average sportsman is faster, bigger, stronger una. By what metric huh With all their nutrition and recovery why aren't they beating the feats of yore at a higher clip. Why are they not jumping higher and further? And don't give me the average sportsman kinikankinikan that nobody can prove or verify
Since when was height a measure of athleticism or being strong. Manute Bol, Shawn Bradley are both very tall and big but thats about it. When we say bigger stronger, faster, we mean the combo. To be big like KAT, strong enough to dunk and block shots, fast enough to dribble the ball and score, and skilled enough to win a 3pt shooting contest. Give me someone from the old era with that skillset. I'll wait!

SportsRe: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 8:50pm On Mar 07, 2022
Roland17:
This position is massively flawed and I will use some analogies to make my point at the end of this post.

We can all agree that the old era played with a ton of disadvantages and unique challenges that have been improved upon, which this generation is enjoying. I listed a couple of them in my previous post Now, if these cats despite those challenges dominated and have records that are still unbroken, imagine what they will do if they had the advantages this era enjoys.

It’s like telling a 9ja man that suffered through poverty, unemployment, hunger, hopelessness and is opportune to immigrate to a more prosperous nation like ours or other saner clime across the world. What do you think will happen to the 9ja man after he immigrates to the US? Infact use 9ja doctors that have japa from 9ja to US/UK and other saner climes.

If roles were reversed and the American who lives in the luxury of constant electricity and other benefits is sent to 9ja and without the favor of being American is condemned to the realities of 9ja, what do you think will happen with him? With every variable remaining constant, who do you think will thrive? What is the probability that the American who has enjoyed the luxury of normal life will dominate 9ja life vs the 9ja guy wen japa to the US?
You are right that if they had today's advantages, they would probably perform better. But therein lies the rub. They didnt, and we dont give awards based on what we think people COULD accomplish. We award them based on what they actually did.

To give you another analogy, we have several billion dollar unicorn businesses coming out of Nigeria. The most valuable companies in the history of Nigeria were birthed by this generation. Now, you could argue that the previous generation like Elumelu annd co was more hardworking than this one, that if they had this same opportunities they would have done just as well, maybe even better. Unfortunately, it doesnt matter. We can only rank you based on what you did. Anything else is conjecture.

What if Diego Maradonna had today's trainings and nutrition.\? What if Barkley had his own Pippen? What if MJ was around when Hakeem went to the finals? We can play what if games all day long. It is better to concentrate on what actually happens. That is why we play the games.

Roland17:
No one is hating on this era but they shouldn't make it look like say na today basketball start or say na the most competitive era of basketball we dey witness.
When this topic comes up, people get defensive. Because if you say this era is better than previous, they think it attacks MJ's goat status. I can explain why this is the most competitive era without taking anything away from MJ.

Charles Oakley was talking about how he would have bullied Giannis in his time. Isaiah Thomas, realest OG just laughed it off and clapped back. In Isaiah's words, Giannis is faster, stronger than Oakley was in his prime and Giannis would have dominated in any era! Now consider Giannis, Jokic, KAT. Look at Luka, Curry. I wont even mention the young guns like Morant, Bam, Tatum or the OGs like Durant and Lebron. All these guys will ball regardless of rule changes. Some of them will play better even. A 37 year old Lebron, the oldest of the bunch dropped 50+!

This league is orders magnitude better than 20 years ago, with or without rule changes. Yeah some of it is better nutrition and equipment, but these guys are faster, more skilled and stronger. The two things the old school has that also keeps MJ at the top is mindset and the midrange jumpshot. If Lebron had any one of those 2, the GOAT conversation would have been over years ago, and he would likely have 6 rings as well.

Abeg lets stop over-gloryfying the past. The show Tatum put up yesterday, you think that was easy? Baba, enter ordinary YMCA game and try to score 60pts. Try drop 30 sef, then come back the next night and attempt to repeat it. To drop 60pts in an empty gym na full workout for me tongue

To think that Lebron is having one of the best seasons of his career and the Lakers are underperforming is absurd... shocked huh
This is not a good thing imo. I expected Lebron to be averaging 18-20pts per night at this stage, and not have to play hard every night. Jordan had similar issues when he returned with the Wizards. The oldest on the team was the most motivated, and they eventually missed the playoffs.
