mattfeuter:If Lebron gets injured this year only to miss playoffs or get blown out in the first round, that would be foolish, do you agree? Sometimes its better to shut it down, recuperate and come back. And I have never accused Lebron of stat padding. If Lebron is on the floor he is good for a triple double any night, we all know that. Question is, is it worth the risk on a 37 year old body. |
I still feel Lebron's intensity this late in a lost season is a foolish and lost cause, but I have to give props where its due. When the guy said he wasnt going to quit, he meant it. It takes a special breed to still lay it out on the floor every night. And it sets a very good example for the rest of the team. We play hard till the end. |
nairaleague playoffs start today! just in case anyone on the top 6 missed it. donlittle25 abeg wake up. your flogging has started already ![]() |
Lol, I have very little ill will towards Harden. I no get energy abeg ![]() Sometimes, I actually pity him, because I dont think he fully grasps what it means to sacrifice to win - the guy is addicted to partying. Like I told Roland17, I really want to see how Embiid handles this if the playoff dreams do not materialize this year. |
Danielnino00:A better option is to allow more aggressive defense, and give perimeter defenders more benefit of the doubt. The hand check rule also needs to be repealed. It will kill some peoples games, eg the Harden, Klay etc and tilt the game back towards skilled bigs and big guards. Just my own opinion. |
Roland17:Amen to this. |
A40:He is not hurt, but he is still missing games. you know mark cuban has a weakness for euro players. He was thinking he had a second Nowitzki. But Porzingis turned out to be more like Chandler Parsons |
A40:At this rate, Porzingis wont be in the league in the next 2 seasons. The way the guy man dey miss games, he makes AD look like Navy SEAL. |
Roland17:Bro! I just came here to rant about the same thing. Lebron is being an old fool right now - shut this thing down and wait till next season. There has to be an adult somewhere in the Lakers organization that can effect this. I need to find clips of this trolling ![]() |
Roland17:bwahahaa, I had Webber in there, then I deleted him. I was like maybe its just me lol |
Roland17:They need to stop Miller from color commentary and move on to something else. That guy has had a couple of years to get better, and is still below par. |
benji93:If it was stat-padding, the assists and blocks would not be up too. I think its more he wants to win and get into the play-ins at all cost. The Lakers front office should force him to shut down. |
Roland17:I missed that, but by big 3 I hope you mean Ray Allen was in attendance. That beef was long overdue to be quashed. |
steady986:you know I dig your stats bro, but I jus dey side eye you with all these posts. Shey you see how Suns dey flog your team tonite like IDP orphan. You guys just shut it down and retool for next year. |
Khanben:Indeed. I thought it was hugem because it gives them the scoring punch Porzingis never lived up to. And this guy likes to go to the rack. These playoffs are going to be crazy, t here are lots of middle seeded teams that can pull upsets. Bulls with Caruso and co returning from injury is a dark horse in the east as well. |
Roland17:I think that was a mispeak ![]() |
donlittle25:From the vid? In fact he never said anything negative about Russ. He just thought it was poetic that the same guy who "exposed" him is getting exposed as well. |
This just came out today, even though the interview was a few weeks a go. Its Pat Bev discussing how Westbrook hit his career. Man, this life, e get circle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCzeCrKwfL4 |
Roland17:Harden IMO is not the traditional superstar. He affects the game by scoring, but he is not going to win you games on defense or making others better. And even that level of scoring has been missing last 2 seasons. Which means Sixers gave up too much for him. |
joshboo:I missed the game but this sounds very familiar. He tries to iso and go it alone under pressure. I was always worried that selfish Harden would pop up and ruin Embiids MVP season. |
Roland17:Is it a celtic, because if it is, I no wan hear am ![]() |
OT versus my Rockets. And you talking playoffs. Playoffs? ![]() |
Roland17:You can only support a man to the extent he is willing to support himself. When they asked him what his expectations were coming to LA, he could have helped himself with a better answer. If Westbrook will not help himself, why are we asking others to help him? Bros, na so life be - if you decide that you have strong head, your wiser friends and team mates allow you. You cant save a struggling man in water, both of you will drown. WB needs to man up, get his wife, mom etc out of the media spotlight and face this alone. Curry had the same issue with Ayesha getting into the spotlight: it never ends the way you want it to end. And I dont understand why he is whining. Either you can play or you cant. Either you will play the way coach wants you to, or you wont. These are man decisions, and I dont think anyone, including teammates should be sorting this out for him. Is he sharing his salary with them? |
Roland17:lmao. and congrats on keeping Rodgers! It would have been weird to see him in any other helmet. |
A40:Somehow you skipped the first 5 I mentioned: Giannis, KAT, Jokic, AD, Embiid, to focus on Bam. Nice try. Because you know those 5 destroy your argument. But lets leave that for now. I purposely did not mention Hakeem because he was not in KG's era, but if you go to Hakeem's era, which other big man was versatile? Please dont mention Shawn kemp or Ewing lol. Shaq at the end of Hakeem's era was very dominant, but he had to be in the post to do damage. Webber was nice, but is he Embiid or Jokic of Giannis level? No. He was an expcellent passer with a midrange jumpshot. David Robinson? Loool. stop it. The Admiral was a defensive machine, but needed Timmy D to get that ring. Look how Hakeem flogged him! Karl Malone? What was his stats without the Stockton PnR. Could he shoot the 3? Or pass to any PG not named Stockton? I can forgive Chris Webber, but The Admiral and the Mail Man? Bwahahahaha ![]() |
A40:Cool, I'll give you that, KG over KAT. Now how many bigs in KG's day could do similar. Timmy D, who else. Today we have countless bigs with similar skillset. Embiid, KAT, Jokic, AD, KD, Giannis. Even second tier folk like Bam. We haven't even looked at the rookie/sophomore class yet! I didnt even add Zion! The league is far deeper and more skilled. When KG came out of high school, that was like phenomenal, like we never see that before. Now, guys are coming out of high school and balling within one season. |
steady986:Dem stat masters are here ![]() |
A40:Since when was height a measure of athleticism or being strong. Manute Bol, Shawn Bradley are both very tall and big but thats about it. When we say bigger stronger, faster, we mean the combo. To be big like KAT, strong enough to dunk and block shots, fast enough to dribble the ball and score, and skilled enough to win a 3pt shooting contest. Give me someone from the old era with that skillset. I'll wait! |
Lakers are done yall. Man, Lebron has had terrible luck with teammates. These guys arent interested in the playoffs at all. |
Roland17:You are right that if they had today's advantages, they would probably perform better. But therein lies the rub. They didnt, and we dont give awards based on what we think people COULD accomplish. We award them based on what they actually did. To give you another analogy, we have several billion dollar unicorn businesses coming out of Nigeria. The most valuable companies in the history of Nigeria were birthed by this generation. Now, you could argue that the previous generation like Elumelu annd co was more hardworking than this one, that if they had this same opportunities they would have done just as well, maybe even better. Unfortunately, it doesnt matter. We can only rank you based on what you did. Anything else is conjecture. What if Diego Maradonna had today's trainings and nutrition.\? What if Barkley had his own Pippen? What if MJ was around when Hakeem went to the finals? We can play what if games all day long. It is better to concentrate on what actually happens. That is why we play the games. |
Roland17:When this topic comes up, people get defensive. Because if you say this era is better than previous, they think it attacks MJ's goat status. I can explain why this is the most competitive era without taking anything away from MJ. Charles Oakley was talking about how he would have bullied Giannis in his time. Isaiah Thomas, realest OG just laughed it off and clapped back. In Isaiah's words, Giannis is faster, stronger than Oakley was in his prime and Giannis would have dominated in any era! Now consider Giannis, Jokic, KAT. Look at Luka, Curry. I wont even mention the young guns like Morant, Bam, Tatum or the OGs like Durant and Lebron. All these guys will ball regardless of rule changes. Some of them will play better even. A 37 year old Lebron, the oldest of the bunch dropped 50+! This league is orders magnitude better than 20 years ago, with or without rule changes. Yeah some of it is better nutrition and equipment, but these guys are faster, more skilled and stronger. The two things the old school has that also keeps MJ at the top is mindset and the midrange jumpshot. If Lebron had any one of those 2, the GOAT conversation would have been over years ago, and he would likely have 6 rings as well. Abeg lets stop over-gloryfying the past. The show Tatum put up yesterday, you think that was easy? Baba, enter ordinary YMCA game and try to score 60pts. Try drop 30 sef, then come back the next night and attempt to repeat it. To drop 60pts in an empty gym na full workout for me ![]() |
aliondo:This is not a good thing imo. I expected Lebron to be averaging 18-20pts per night at this stage, and not have to play hard every night. Jordan had similar issues when he returned with the Wizards. The oldest on the team was the most motivated, and they eventually missed the playoffs. |
