I have been watching Hardwood classics on NBATV and I have observed something upon watching many of the old games. The 1980s bunch were really good. As for 2000s-2010? These present teams will beat them silly. And all that "this era is soft" is nonsense. They gave the silliest fouls in the early 2000s. Goddam the Dallas vs Miami finals of 2006 was so poor. I am pained. LOOOL.

Side note; LBJ has really improved. The player he was when he lost to Miami is 2 steps below LBJ of 2020 and that is saying a lot considering it's been 8/9 years since then.

As in 2006, 14 years ago? No lol. He is worse in every category than that Miami LBJ except in getting to the rim. He is no longer the physical specimen he used to be and it affects how he imposes his will on the game. Even as a facilitator he is not as good.

Ice is a stretch. KD shot at a higher clip and averaged more points. Bear in mind Westbrook went 4/20 in the elimination game

To be honest, Westbrook probably did as much damage to Durant by hogging the ball that series

Durantula will be fine. the biggest fear is upper respiratory and cardiac issues - for a athlete like KD, this will be a minor inconvenience.

lillard - i think what we are calling loyalty is more about his personality. he is comfortable and doesnt want to change. He can play 20 years, no ring, no finals, cash out and be still be good. Which is cool i guess.

Remember Mavs under Don Nelson with Nash, Nowitzki, Nick Van Exel. Or Dantoni's potent Suns with Nash ,Amare, Joe Johnson, Matrix and co? Those guys were ridiculous when it came to 3s - in todays league they would score 140+ nightly. But no rings. Granted, this is a different era, and the league encourages small ball. Buut playoffs are about matchups and adjustments. Not having bigs is a glaring hole that will be exploited come playoffs.

Add to that, 3s dont fall easy under playoffs pressure...we could easily get bounced in the first round by a team with a veteran coach or floor general. Our likely first round opponents at 3-4 seed are Mavs and Jazz, two teams that fit the bill with savvy coach, grimy team. Or, Thunder even, and you know CP3 would have a wet dream bouncing us in the first round
