You call people peaceful protesters as challenging the sovereignty of Nigeria? The consituation guarantees everyone freedom of expression. Anyone can express the desire not to be part of Nigeria as long as they are doing it non violently.
What's your definition of "peaceful"? When, in the course of exercising your perceived rights, you infringe on others' rights, are you being peaceful? Imagine what would happen if those whose rights you infringed on in pursuit of yours retaliates! There's a thin line between "protests" & "riot". Blocking of highways thereby impeding on other people's rights of way can't be termed peaceful. Learn to respect other people's rights if you want yours to be respected. Road sides, side walks, public places like the freedom square in Owerri amongst others can be used for "peaceful" protests by people who are not hell bent on fermenting trouble. Must you block the highway causing traffic jam & inconveniencing other law abiding citizens? Must everybody be in your league? Please note that your freedom during speech can be guaranteed but after speech is relative & is neither here nor there.

That same constitution that guarantees your right to freedom of expression also guarantees the right to uphold the sovereignty of the country to the relevant security agencies & authorities. The protest was not against any government policy but for the disintegration of the country. Which nation will sit back & watch indifferently when faced with such rascality?

Educate your faithfuls to act within dictates of civility if they expect to be treated as such. Otherwise, if dey do anyhow, dey see anyhow!

PoliticsRe: IPOB Meets Igbo Leaders, Lists Conditions For Peace by Bishop4real: 2:37am On Aug 09, 2018
gidgiddy:
This is democracy not military rule. Why would government say that IPOB are armed and dangerous but hide the evidence? Why would government have credible intelligence on IPOB which they say are terrorists but hide the information? Does that really make any sense to you? If the impounded guns were for IPOB, why hasn't government come to say so? Why would government be shielding information that exposes? IPOB? The logical explanation is that they have nothing on IPOB except speculation.

The law doesn't care anybody or IPOB thinks in their head, the law care about actions. What is it that IPOB did that needed military intervention? Did they kill anybody or take up arms or destroy property? These are the reasons you call in the military and not because somebody is waving a flag

In other words, the military left places like the Niger Delta, the middle belt and the North East where armed groups such as militants, Herdsmen, Boko Haram, bandits are all running around with AK 47 murdering people daily. But it was in the SE where there was no armed group that the military went to "show force". I think the leaders of Nigeria have mental problems. People are crying for help in different parts of Nigeria, burying their children, chased out of their communities, their farmlands destroyed. But the military went to show force where there was no armed conflict? This is pure madness.

North Korea is armed, IPOB is not. North Korea was regularly launching rockets for the world to see. Nobody has ever seen IPOB with guns. Don't use that sort of example.

Yes, these rights are not absolute but they should only be curtailed if being used to commit crime. All Kanu did was talk. All the accusations against him is about what he said or didn't say. Nobody can point to one thing he actually did. Everybody is about the words that came out of his mouth. So this whole thing is because IPOB and Kanu are talking and waving flag? This is the only crime they commited to warrant Python dance? Nigeria is defending its territorial integrity against unarmed people?
In a country where other groups are killing people? Laughable
Not military of any country, irrespective of system of government, will ever disclose her classified information. That's why spies exist: to prey on careless countries! Russia should disclose her strategy in Syria or US her strategy against ISIS? Whatever FGN has against IPOB remains classified & can only be disclosed to the right persons at the right time. I repeat they don't owe you or IPOB any explanations!

Maybe you think taking up arms, killings & destroying of properties are the only actions that can attract military intervention. The primary duty of a nation's military is to protect her territorial sovereignty & integrity. Any form of threat to such: be it taking up arms ooo, killing ooo, destruction of properties ooo, declaring a state/country within a sovereign country ooo etc shall be made to face the wrath of the law & full military weight as situation demands. Unfortunately, it's not within your capacity or that of IPOB to determine for the Nigerian military where there is need for "operation show force" or even any other military operation anywhere in Nigeria.

Military operations are exclusively at the prerogative of the commander in chief. Based on available security intelligence reports, the commander in chief decides what's best at every material time. Of course, this is always with full advice of his security team.

North Korea is a sovereign country with defined territory, IPOB is not! It's just a mere organization which claims to be fighting for the rights of indigenous people of Biafra. Besides, IPOB was caught on tape with dangerous weapons against the military even to the extent of wounding a soldier in the process. They are also on tape declaring some of parts of Nigeria (SE/SS/some parts of NC) as Biafra thereby defying known norms of engagement.

Thanks again for admitting that rights are not absolute. Kanu can freely talk & express himself, but if such talks undermine the territorial integrity of Nigeria in whatever guise, the security outfits must swop in on him accordingly.
PoliticsRe: IPOB Meets Igbo Leaders, Lists Conditions For Peace by Bishop4real: 11:29am On Aug 08, 2018
gidgiddy:
No such intelligence report exists and nobody in government has ever come out to say IPOB was armed, getting armed or about to commit any crime. All we have are people like you who judge things on sentiments and not facts.

IPOB has never taken over any area, even Kanu's own Village is still under Umuahia North Local Government. So where is this place that IPOB took over and seceded? Self determination is a legal right under the African charter, anybody can agitate for separation from Nigeria. If you people call that secession then use Google to find out the difference between separation and secession. The fact that IPOB wants a referendum removes any idea of secession from them.

I have heard a lot of wild stories but I have never heard that a troop of Soldiers were moving in peace with guns and Tanks and unarmed civilians decided to face guns and Tanks with sticks and stones. Only someone high on drugs would attempt something like that. The usual story I hear is that Soldiers move into an area in a heavy handed way, start shooting, and civilians react by picking up stones and sticks to defend themselves. But if you want to believe that civilians went to fight armed Soldiers with stick and stones with no provocation then I can't believe that. Not even the devil will believe such a story. On the same day that Nigerian Army is claiming IPOB attacked them, the Army were going past Umuahia Press centre and noticed some journalists recording them. They went to the press centre, destroyed the place and beat up journalists.

If people say that the authorities should not wait until IPOB becomes armed, even though there is not a shred of evidence to that effect, then that would amount to criminalizing people even before they commit a crime, all based on sentiments.

The law grants us all the right of self determination, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of association and freedom of movement.

All Kanu and IPOB did was exercise those rights
I suppose you're part of the security agencies to know that no intelligence report exists. Or probably you expect them to paste such on all dailies abi? Government has repeatedly said that IPOB is armed & have classified information on that. They don't owe you or IPOB any explanations on that. The impounded importation of arms by IPOB is just one out of many.

It's great to hear you posit that IPOB has not taken over any area. But I implore you to investigate the activities of your men on ground. They think & act differently from your position above. Same charter that recognizes right to self determination also recognizes the sanctity of the sovereignty of nations. More so, there are led down standards in agitations. Any form of derailing from known norms shall be met with corresponding level of resistance & corrective measures.

As weird as it sounds to you, IPOBians actually attacked the military team on routine operation "show force". In their ignorance & show of bravado, they over stepped bounds without even realizing their folly. Kanu himself supported such & boasted on camera that the boys are willing to do more to prove that they are on "Biafra land". Thanks for admitting that all those environs are under a local in Nigeria. Hence, how do you expect the military to sit back and watch some misguided miscreants claim such to be "Biafra land"?

Tell me any nation, the world over, that will wait for any security risk to strike before taking action? Why hasn't US & other world powers waited for North Korea to go ahead with their alleged nuclear power development before deciding to attack them? Iran nko?

Hear yourself: "The law grants us all the right of self determination, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of association and freedom of movement". Note that all these rights are not absolute; they are relative & are affected by lots of variable peculiarities. Other citizens rights must also be put into consideration. You don't usurp other people's rights in pursuit of yours. When IPOB activities infringe into other people's rights, their rights call to question.

As Kanu & IPOB are free to exercise their rights, FGN is also free to exercise her right to defend her territorial sovereignty!!!
PoliticsRe: IPOB Meets Igbo Leaders, Lists Conditions For Peace by Bishop4real: 3:18am On Aug 08, 2018
gidgiddy:
All you are saying is just based on predictions, sentiments and speculation and not based on facts. The law deals on facts, not sentiments. This talk about threat to sovereignty, threatening secession and resistance to constituted authority is all nonsense. In other for any organisation to be in a position to threaten secession, let alone carry it out, the organisation has to armed. Secession means that you take over an area and declare it separate from the country and under your control. Only an armed organisation can do that, it's not something you do with words, sticks or stones. Boko Haram would not have been able to take over parts of the North East if they didn't have sophisticated weapons, Herdsmen would not have been able to drive people put of their land if they did not have AK47. To threaten a countries sovereignty to to threaten secession, the group must be armed

To this day, nobody has come out to say IPOB was armed with guns. In a country where the authorities love displaying recovered arms, if IPOB had been armed, they authorities would have said so.

When Kanu was soliciting money for guns, he did not break the law. Asking for money to buy guns is not a crime, even the firearms act of Nigeria allows any Nigerian adult to own certain types of guns. All you have to do is apply to the police for a licence to hold a gun. What is a crime is to illegaly hold guns or to use them to commit crime. What a person solicited for is no legal issue. If anyone then goes on to believe that Kanu was looking for guns to fight Nigeria then that is sentiments and not facts, the law is based on facts.

When Kanu said he was going to get the head of the president, he spoke in Igbo and it was an idiomatic expression meaning he was going to defeat Buhari in court. Every Igbo who watched the video knows that. But even if he said he was going to behead the President, how does an unarmed man do this? Is Kanu and and unarmed IPOB going to knock on the gates of Aso Rock and ask Buhari to hand over his head? Where is threat there? So people cannot talk any more?

IPOB has been agitating since 2015, nobody has seen them with arms of any sort, they did not kill anybody and they have not gone about destroying properties. Most of their rallies have been peaceful and non violent. So why was the Army then sent after an unarmed peaceful group in a country where we have several armed groups running around killing people?

Only a complete fool will believe that unarmed IPOB saw a troop of soldiers armed to the teeth with guns and Tanks and IPOB decided to block their way and attack them with sticks and stones without any provocation. This is one of the craziest stories I have heard. IPOB that was not known to be violent suddenly decided to be violent on seeing armed Soldiers? Or is it more

Nigeria is a funny place. Other countries send in the Army to a violent situation to bring about peace but Nigeria sends in the Army to a peaceful place to bring about violence. Other countries send in the Army to face armed groups, in Nigeria they send the Army to face unarmed people.

To this day, most of the accusations against Kanu is all about what the man said or didn't say, and not because he actually did anything.

No wonder America and the EU came out to say IPOB is not a terrorist organisation, they were not prepared to be part of that lie painted by the Nigerian authorities.
What fact are you talking about? If you call all these predictions, sentiments & speculations, then what becomes of intelligence reports? If you can't do the time, then don't do the crime. If you're not equipped for secession, then don't incite others into same. When you declare part of a sovereign state yours with total disregard to its constituted authorities & without recourse to the attendant consequences, whose fault is it?

So Kanu's speech about beheading PMB is an idiomatic expression? No wonder he got an "idiomatic" reaction! If you still deny that IPOB never attacked the military convoy on python dance "show force" injuring a soldier, then you're living in denial. You need to see how IPOB miscreants harass & intimidate people with divergent opinion from theirs. Can't even remember how many times I've been attacked for holding contrary opinion on IPOB & her operations.

The problem is that you are downplaying the efficacy & potency of spoken words/propaganda! How did the Rwandan war start? What do suicide bombers hear that convinces them to blow themselves up?

Tell me any army in the whole wild world that will sit back and wait for "armed attacks" after getting clue from rants of the enemy?

3 ports in Rivers State? comedian.

1 seaport at Onne for oil vessels and the Navy.

freeze Biafra issue for now. if there is a commercial port anywhere in the East, call it anything you opine, CORE region (Calabar Ogoja Rivers East), SE, Anioma, Ikwerre, SS, Niger Delta, Ubani, Bonny, Opobo, Igweocha, PH

plus consulates, many Igbos will not come to Lagos at all.

why is APC or SW party trying to win Akwa Ibom? to stop Ibaka port
I know you are part of those propaganda machines who believes every misfortune of the Biafran region must be from FGN & Hausa/Fulani oligarchy. Whose fault is it that you're ignorant of the existence of other sea ports like the Rivers Sea Port complex in Rivers State beside Onne port? The rivers sea port complex is splitted into BUA & NBA sea port terminals respectively. Surely you don't also know that Onne port complex has the OIL & GAS FREE ZONE controlled by Oil & Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA) with Intel & other areas under BRAWAL, WACT etc. Add all these up & you will comprehend why I said there are "about" three sea ports in Rivers State alone! These ports are functional.Google is your friend!

Before you continue in your blame games, please note that the choice of Port of destination is entirely at the prerogative of the importer. If Biafrans want their goods to be cleared outside Lagos, what they need to do is simply indicate port of destination of their choice especially the ones in "Biafra land - Onne/PHC/Warri". You can't quote TIN CAN or APAPA ports & expect to clear at Onne. Do you know that the customs duty tariff is the same for all ports & that customs officers are like security & revenue collecting agency for government? Where you decide to clear your goods is of no major concern to them. What they are after is the attendant customs duties therein.

Importantly, please note that part of what affected & is still affecting patronage of these ports in "Biafra land" especially in Rivers & Delta states is insecurity. Before the advent of militancy, piracy & kidnapping, most of these oil companies were domiciled at these areas but were forced to relocate due to insecurity. Even Julius Berger had to move at some point. More so, most shipping lines also started selecting cargo with security concerns at the back of their minds. Naturally, attention shifted further to an already congested Lagos state. You can't eat your cake and have it. Our brothers made fortunes from these crimes at the detriment of the overall economic benefit of the region & here you are blaming FGN.

I strongly applaud the present Buhari led FGN for the various reforms currently going on at these ports. Intels monopoly of Oil & Gas Free Zone has been effectively put under proper perspective & control. Now the new idea of decongesting Lagos ports. If sustained, slowly but surely we shall get there.

As for Ibaka port, who gave the approval in the first place? When will you guys stop propaganda? Pathetic!

The courts are not under anyone's control and bail is the sole discretion of the courts. Not even Buhari can order the courts to grant a person bail. Saying that someone or some people influenced Justice Nyako to release Kanu is an insult to the court.

This is just backward African mentality. It is not possible for an unarmed group to threaten the sovereignty of a country. Only an armed group can do that because only an armed organisation can fight a war. Sticks, stones and matchets are are not what people use in fighting a war. But there is another question that is to be asked. How come nobody ever saw IPOB with any stick or stone before operation Python dance? If nobody ever saw IPOB with any sort of arms, why was the Army drafted to go to a place where no violence or armed struggle existed? We have armed groups in the NW, SS and middle belt that are killing people daily, why was the military sent to the SE where no armed group existed, nobody was being killed or properties being destroyed? The reality is that the military went to a peaceful place to cause trouble and kill people and the people reacted by laying their hands on what they could find to defend themselves. The military should only go to a place where there is already trouble, not go to a place and trouble starts. This was all about using military force to stifle voices of dissent and such a thing is not permitted in a democracy.

To this day, none of the security agencies has come out to say that IPOB has guns. The so called guns seized at the ports is not even an issue because such has been happening even before there was IPOB. To say that the guns seized were for IPOB is just mere speculation. Funnily enough, the guns that were seized were even pump action rifles which any Nigerian adult can apply to the police to hold under license.

As I said before, operation Python dance was just all about silencing voices of dissent with military force in a democracy. It was state sponsored terrorism
Good to hear from you that no influenced Justice Nyarko's decision to release Kanu on bail. Very good. But I'm also aware how IPOB were all over the place with propaganda on how the same Nyako is Hausa/Fulani & PMB's relative; hence, would be bias. So all their noise and accusations about how PMB controls the judiciary is all sham? It's alright. But I'm convinced that such high profile cases do have some input from the government through the attorney general. Food for thought!

"it's not possible for an unarmed group to threaten the sovereignty of a country": Are you for real? So your belief is that threats to sovereignty can only be from armed agitations/confrontations? Please note that war is a product of sustained threat to sovereignty & resistance to constituted authority. It's not usually the "beginning of threats" but the "result" of sustained threats. Secession threats and threats posed by internal fights & killings which is greater? That IPOB was beaten in their game doesn't mean they were not armed or never intended to be armed. Excerpts from Kanu's rants both on radio Biafra & other media outlets/outings clearly depicted a group in serious preparations for armed struggle. The military acted proactively & doesn't owe you or anyone else any apologies.

When IPOB attacked military patrol with all manner of weapons (stones, matches etc) & injuring some soldiers in the process, where were you? When Kanu was openly soliciting for arms at world Igbo congress celebrations, where were you? When Kanu threatened to behead a sitting president & commander in chief of the armed forces, where were you? In all these, especially on the threat to behead the President, you expect the military to sit back and watch until the threat is carried out before taking action, akwaya? Maybe, the military could have as well prepared delicious indomie noodles garnished with lots of "menemene" for them. Unlike the empty rants, chest beatings & nuisance from IPOB, expecting the military to come out with all they know about IPOB is clear ignorance of strategy. They will only tell you what they feel you should hear. All other information is classified.

The reason why there is no progress in the Drak area aka Nigger Area (NIGERIA).

So you are privy to classified info and are also the expert in human rights? Let me first of all tell you that no SERIOUS nation will be engaged in military operations all over their so-called nation in a DEMOCRACY. No serious nation would ever allow a COUP Plotter to lead them in a democracy. But of course in a Nigger Area you can deploy your ARMY to a village to wrestle and harass civilians that you already feel are nonentities and jobless youths and feel you are strong, yet in the face of small rag tag force like Boko Haram your nyash is being kicked like The way Messi scored on una...

Biafra is here to stay, while folks like you cant after all this while figure out how to develop your own Odud....oops nation
I suggest you check out the various functions of a nation's military once again

did i mention break of sovereignty?

did i talk of dividing a nation?

is creating a region not unity?

did the British not divide its colony into 3?

did nature not partition this country into 3?

in 1951 Igbos voted an Efik man as PM of Eastern region, despite being the majority.

in 1954 Zik asked the British Lt. Govr. to disolve the parliament.

he pulled down Prof. Eyo Ita and became PM, then moved the capital from Calabar to Enugu.

there would have been embassies and functional seaport in Calabar today, the reason Tinapa failed.

aren't tired of our people risking their lives on the roads to Lagos and Abuja to board flights or obtain visas.

there are flights to so many countries from the airports in Barcelona and Erbil
Is IPOB asking for regional autonomy or total breakaway from Nigeria to have a sovereign state of Biafra? Yes, Biafra or SE or SS or whatever they may chose to call themselves can be granted some level of autonomy within Nigeria. However, such autonomy must not undermine the sovereignty of Nigeria at large.

As for ports, I know Onne Port is up & running. Is it FGN that will chose port of discharge/destination for importers? Has any importer told you he can't bring in goods through any of the about three ports in Rivers State?

lol of course he had to protect himself since it's illegal for a average joe to have firearms in Nigeria
and crowds were part of the point he was tryna make

imagine if there were no crowds

and no they were not senseless they awakened the spirit of biafra !!! they made people remember , he opened eyes !! cancompare ipob to massob?
So the best way a "brave warrior" could defend himself was by forming human shield in form of crowd? Crowds can gather for whatever reason but does that translate to followership? Hell No!!!

What you term "eye opening" is simply brainwashing borne out of sustained propaganda. What did Kanu do that has never been done by his predecessors? The only difference is that now, means of communication has improved tremendously. Take online outlets for example, their impact can't be overemphasized!

it seems ur a reasonable person

so tell me what lies did kanu spill?
what sweet nonsense?
and what is the ipob modus operandi that is so bad that will cause it to fail ?

cause it's like u keep saying there's something we are doing wrong
Kanu told lots of lies to gain attention. He told the Igbos vis-a-vis Biafrans what they wanted to hear & not what they should hear. Pure propaganda!!! Amongst his various lies include:
(1) He lied about the legal status of IPOB. Do you know that the only two directors of IPOB according to the official registration documents with UK house office are foreigners: one Takashi Nyathi, a Zimbabwean & Sophia Kalu, a South African. Does Sophia Kalu sound south African to you? Even if it does, why would foreigners be directors of an organization supposedly meant to restore Biafra? No single Biafran director?!!!
(2) Kanu claimed he was never for "Biafra anutara na tea" in reference to his rejection of referendum. He castigated Uwazuruike & all who chose referendum as an option. Today, who is championing referendum?
(3) He swore never to leave Kuje without his "men" but you & I know how he left at the slightest opportunity without them
(4) He lied that PMB is dead & that one Jubril from Sudan is in charge. Now, if I may ask, who did Trump meet in white house: PMB or Jubril?

Some of his sweet nonsense include:
(1) Biafra is 95% achieved
(2) He will go to Abuja & return with PMB's head
(3) That he is whiter than white
(4) That he has what it takes to dismantle & dismember Nigeria
And many more...

Yes, IPOB will fail if they continue the way they are going. In fact they have started failing already. So, I'm not surprised that they are hurriedly trying to engage in peace talks with Ohanaeze_Ndigbo.
There are two major ways to self determination:
(1) By arm confrontation/war
(2) Peaceful means through referendum
Even though Kanu & IPOB did the initial gra gra of threatening war as their means of restoring Biafra, it dawned on them that they don't have what it takes to see such dream through. They now reverted to a more civil approach, referendum. But the question remains, how are they going about it? For a better understanding of what referendum is all about, please let the IPOB hierarchy provide answers to these questions:
(1) Who calls for referendum?
(2) Who conducts it?
(3) Who validates the result by accepting or rejecting it?
(4) What's the role of UN in referendum?
(5) Why did the two referenda by Catalonia fail but the only one by South Sudan succeded?

After providing answers to above questions, then confirm if IPOB's stance on elections in Nigeria is in the best interest of Biafra restoration.

From there, we can continue with further discussion on the Biafran question.

Catalonia is an autonomous region in Spain.

Kurdistan is an autonomous region in Iraq.

they have their own parliament, president, police, consulate, commerce, constitution

General Franco and Uncle Saddam could not hold them down.

Nigeria knows that restructuring will free Biafra and that is why no Igbo is president.
Why did the two referenda by Catalonia fail? Why did that of Kurds fail too? Why did that of South Sudan succeed? How did soviet union break?

lol
first of all I need to u understand something real Nigeria is not a federation it's a confederation !! , during the end of the Biafran war ojukwu signed a confederation agreement with Gowon but Gowon being an aboki simply dismissed it and treated Nigeria like a federation and so does everyone and that is what basically Nigeria is
so if u don't know technically Nigeria is a confederation consisting of Nigeria and biafra
if u don't know what a confederation is ask UK and the Soviet union
don't u see Nigeria can exist but consist of two nations Nigeria and biafra
that's what kanu meant when he says Biafra already EXISTS!!
that's why buhari and the northerners don't want restructuring cause that will come out
infact kanu specifically said he was willing to negotiate with the FG on restructuring

so we are not threatening any sovereignty
and sticks and stones aren't firearms
they are arms but based on that reasoning anything can be arm (I could use a belt to kill u so based on that reasoning I'm always armed)
This is the product of Kanu's brainwashing jargons. Not surprised at all. Since you can't comprehend what sovereignty stands for, what's then the basis of engaging in a discourse with you?

Arms are arms: firearms, Jack knives, dangerous stones, sticks etc. Yes when you kill with your belt, you are armed. Armed with what? Belt of course!
