Do you know how a conventional wars are been fought? If Nigeria is at war with Ghana today do you think Ghana will be targeting Ekiti,Ebonyi or Bornu? The target would be for them to capture the nation capital, they will try to attack viable infrastructures like bridges, refineries etc and that means Lagos, PH and other economical viable states.
Biafrans troops were in Ore marching towards Lagos(the then Nigeria capital) before they were repelled but some non war experts feels that the battle was to take over Lagos and make it become part of the east. Do you the biafran troops to attack Ondo or Ekiti where there's nothing of significant values? If the war were to be fought today then the direction would have been Abuja.

From all indications, deliberations on the proposed tax bills have been suspended by both Houses of NASS.

The north quickly reached a consensus and gathered round it to ensure that their voice was the loudest and their interest most paramount. They started with the economic inequality they suspected in the bill and threw a sucker punch no one saw coming by introducing religion to the mix at the critical hour. They claimed the inheritance law aspect of the bill was against Islam.

Unfortunately, it seemed our southern Muslims are not really grounded in Islamic knowledge or maybe just subservient because I have not heard any rebuttal to that allegation that the bill is anti-Islam. Where is MURIC?! You know when such thing is raised, even Northerners that are for the bill like Dogara who is even a christian will quickly backtrack before a fatwa is issued against him.

While the Northern Governors Forum and the Northern Senators Forum and other Northern groups were releasing statements upon statements to vent their angst with the bill, their southern counterparts were as silent as night. Meanwhile majority of southerners felt a form of equity they've longed for was in the bill.

This shows the fundamental difference between southern politicians and their Northern counterparts. Southern politicians are basically selfish and self- serving and after their own interests. There's no regional interest in their thinking. In 2022, when it seemed from Buhari's body language that he wanted the presidency retained in the north, the southern governors hurriedly reignited the southern governors Forum. Recently when there were subtle threats of impeachment against Akpabio, Southern Senators Forum was formed hurriedly as well. Where are both organs today in a matter majority of southerners across ethnic and political divide seem to agree?

That is the fundamental reason the north will always have the upper hand in the conundrum called Nigeria. They have identified what binds them and they are not shy to hold on to it. They were not shy to defend their poverty and "unproductiveness". I remember a similar case occurred with the PIB. The Niger Delta wanted 10% for the host communities and 3% for inland oil exploration which basically happens in the north. We all saw Northern figures like the Sultan and others making moves and by the time the bill was signed, it was 10% for the oil exploration and 3% for host communities. There was no southern Senators Forum to raise hell then. In fact, the claim then was that it was because the north was heading all the arms of government.

But what of today, the South is heading all the arms of government yet we can't get ordinary tax bill passed. So how will the south achieve the so-called resource control, state police, fiscal federalism and regionalism which are even more knotty issues. Akpabio, Wike etc etc are suddenly silent. They can't take on the north. Southerners are grumbling and threatening on social media while the north walked their talk and spoke with one voice from the ordinary man to their biggest elites in government!

It's time southerners realise they are their biggest problem in Nigeria. There's no group interest. One rabble rouser on social media who is also from the south was even subtly looking to throw blame on a major southern ethnic group in order not to offend the north. Talk of being a proverbial house nigger. That's the apt description of most southern politicians and political entities.

They were never too slow to approve of Mr. President buying a new presidential plane. All these having far exceeding economic consequences.
