What exactly is their goal?
Since I'm a guy, I'm uncertain how to communicate the theology, origin, ideologies and goals in a sisterly way grin
You can use en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Womanism or indulge yourself with google for a wider read.

Mrschima you no dey taya. Give the feminism crap a rest. grin

I saw your earlier mention about the African woman being oppressed and physically abused by the men. This is true and violence against the woman or even kids should be condemned by every sane human. There should be stricter laws in place that serves as retribution to those who abused women, be it physically or sexually. The movement to eradicate violence against women has nothing to do with feminism. Learned and altruistic men themselves are denouncing and criticising it.

While I don't find it repulsive for the Nigerian woman to seek for gender equality, I find it hypocritical for these same women to expect a man to give them special treatments and privileges when they want equality. You go on a date with a girl, she would expect you to pick up her own bills. An average European woman would find it insulting and embarrassing for a man to pay for her meal on a date.

During festive period she expect the man to get her special gifts why the man get nothing in return or if he's fortunate enough he get a #250 pair of boxers. On the home front she expect the man to pay the rents, buy groceries and pay for kids tuition fees yet claim for equality?. Those who come to equity must do so with clean hands. The Nigerian feminism crusaders must take up equal financial responsibility in a relationship or marriage if they want to be taken seriously. Pronto!
The crux here is that the african agitators do not factor in the difference in 'way of life' between the originators of the concept and they who are buying it hook, line and sinker. Just like religions were sold to us.

I speak for Africa and not for the western countries.

Funny enough, I'm not a feminist but I want an Africa where women are treated right.
Even here on NL, the prejudice is just too much
Okay. I earlier mentioned a concept called 'Womanism', a slight deviation and afro-centric feminism considering the black reality at home and diaspora.

I was expecting you to type this

I want to have a child, I can't just get pregnant. I have to find a willing partner to realize my want.

I feel men and women are equal. That is not the end. If the society I live in believes that I am inferior; I am inferior. If the society merely accepts that I assn equal however fails to put in place policies and infrastructures to ensure that the male gender treats me as an equal; I am still not equal.

Therefore if I believe that I am equal to a man. I have to act like it and be treated as an equal to truly feel like an equal.
So this is the best argument you could come up with?

ronald4lif:
We are already equal. It's just the normal victimization mind game which women have adopted from time immemorial that is playing out in today's feminism. They have equal rights as men but they are of the illusion that they deserve more special rights to ensure men become their subjects. One wonders if today's feminism are on a vendetta against men for some perceived wrongdoings or women suppression of the past.
I have heard quite a number of defense debate arguments in favor of the concept, and I think since the OP relates it to the African woman, then I think Womanism should be a better concept as it is centered on the spirituality, morality, and consciousness of the woman of the black race undecided
RomanceRe: African Woman And Feminism. by bknight: 2:19pm On May 31, 2015
Beamborla:
You think so?
'We are equal' is never shown in action in this part of the world where a guy feels it's degrading to wash the plate used by a lady. In his words, 'mere lady' and no guy thought it wise to caution him
So what is the rationale behind feminism in the west where 'we are equal' is clearly shown in action? My point is only to show that women of renown throughout all history of the various peoples of the world have made their mark naturally knowing we are equal and didn't see any need to be so pushy about equality like today's woman.

More like a conceited insecurity undecided
RomanceRe: I Think I Have A Problem With Women! by bknight: 1:58pm On May 31, 2015
You don't have a problem with women. You have a problem with your conscience.

Sort that out privately and not on NL.
RomanceRe: African Woman And Feminism. by bknight: 1:45pm On May 31, 2015
Are there not women across different races, regions and times in the world that believe in equality of rights, yet do not adorn the 'feminism' tag?

Except attention-seeking, there's no reason to 'fight' for equality when you already believe we are equal. It negates its aim.

We are equal right? So why 'fight' for equality? undecided
PoliticsRe: Key Appointments: Buhari’s Silence Unsettles APC Leaders by bknight: 10:12am On May 31, 2015
And once again, its about who comes from what part of the country (quota system) and 'who & who worked for the party' (party affiliations) and not about who can do the job on merit.

And the cycle continues...
PoliticsRe: Buhari, VP Fail To Declare Assets Publicly. by bknight: 9:58am On May 31, 2015
The arguments here are really funny.

You read people submitting invalid premises and deriving conclusions they hail as objective. Trying to sound intelligent, yet fill their posts with nothing but insults/personal attacks on anyone with opposing view and still claim to be objective.

In what I will hail as being neutral and objective, I'd say that GMB has declared his assets. But not publicly.

And to read somebody here said if anyone wants to know it, pay N100 to CCB and obtain it by invoking FOI. What ridicule!
PoliticsRe: Buhari, VP Fail To Declare Assets Publicly. by bknight: 9:44am On May 31, 2015
The opening sentence of the first post of the monicker cramjones on the first page is a shame.

Even a bigger one if you, in any way, condoned and encouraged the insults hulled at the former president(s). That hypocrisy of a sentence stinks worse than a decomposing corpse.

What if different people start to post different results for one particular ward. And each person claiming his update is the correct one.

For ward A: APC observers post APC:100; PDP: 99 as result on social media and
For same ward A: PDP observers post PDP: 101; APC 98?

In my opinion, I think stooges may salvage the opportunity to cause chaos. Let us all wait for INEC's results.

Why does this type of nonsense celebrity jargons make fp like it is one very important thing that can change someones lives. why is nairaland desperately trying to mind trick the youths into nothingness? when is the front page ever going to be filled with insightful posts that will definitely change the way our morally-decaying youths think? i'm just ashamed how nairaland has stooped this low...[/size]

FamilyRe: Starving Wife, Help Advice Her Please by bknight: 8:24pm On Oct 14, 2014
I think that the solution is with him, not you.

In the two marriages, I suppose he had the children he wanted? So why get married again if he so detests sex?

Or marry a woman about his age, even older. That way, naturally she won't demand sex in the way a 33yr old would. Saves him the headache.

Except of course, during the courtship you gave him the impression you're 100% spirikoko and also not into sex.

At 33 and with two little kids, divorce shouldn't top list.

He should come up with a compromise.

OP it's only your husband that will appreciate your virginity.
My point exactly.
RomanceRe: Why Do Guys No Longer Appreciate Virgins by bknight: 11:23am On Oct 13, 2014
Its a good thing. And no one is saying they shouldn't be appreciated, but by who?

Its like a man demanding be appreciated by the society for knowing how to cook. He'd be appreciated by his wife, maybe. But it should just be a chosen way of life. He doesn't need anyone to pet him over that.

Some a girl will even go as far to tell the guy to marry her for it. And many a man fall victims, only to discover on wedding night a fool they were made. This, IMO, is manipulative and hypocritic.

Don't rub it in peoples' faces that you're a virgin. Its like manipulating their emotionns towards you. I would appreciate my girl more when I get there and shockingly find out. Not when she's singing it in my ears everyday.

Imagine dating a girl for a year, you eventually reach there only to find out she's one. Having never heard her say it. This is a virgin. This is class.

All these you have written don't make her a prostitute. She hasn't asked for nor accepted money in exchange for sex. He's simply playing her.
