Boss before buying a naija used car let an Auto Technician run diagnosis, then the report generated will give you the bargaining power to deduct from the quoted price.

For example after been diagnosed all the repairs needed will be deducted from the actual price then yhu and the seller can come to an agreement... But most times my report reduces price in a way sir

First take an Auto Technician to inspect the car and let the Technician give you full report of the car.
Two from your point of view never conclude a car is good especially a naija used car...

I have 3 children 2 girls ages 11, 7 and boy 4 , my wife niece is also living with us. She is 15. I buy my children clothes including their under-wears without my wife complaining I was the one that bought my first daughter her first bras too.

When my wife niece came staying with us it was 2018, I noticed most her clothes were native and worn out. I have given her the money to buy new clothes for the child but she never did. For 2 years now this girl has grown so much and still wearing the same clothes and I really feel ashamed every Sunday when we are going to church. Our kids are looking very cute and this girl is looking unkempt all the time. I have talked to my wife but she doesn’t seem to care about her.

I took all kids out for clothes shopping just before this pandemic and I bought clothes including under wears for all kids but my wife wasn’t happy because I bought bras and under wears for her niece. She said the clothes are fine but I have no right to buy under wears for her. She accused me of sleeping with her niece which is not true. I only did it because this girl was in need of clothes just imagine for 2 years no clothes while she keeps changing our kids wardrobes like every 4-6 months.

I have no intention of sleeping with her niece neither am I sleeping with her. I take her as our first born and am like her father. If I want to cheat on my wife, there are plenty women around me, no way I will stoop so low to sleep with her niece.

I have daughters, sisters and nieces, what I don’t want to happen to my kids then I wouldn’t do it to another person's child. My act was innocent but my wife is angry.

Please be honest with me, was my decision wrong?

From experience say nothing and do nothing is your best defence..

But from your heart of heart try to make her niece better...

You are not doing it for the sake of her niece believe me you are doing it for your kids...
You never know where they will be in the nearest future

After 2017/2018 Christmas/New Year festivities, during which I hammered normal (I was on rental with a nice 2005 Toyota Corolla), winter set in.

Like we say in Ife, it is better to jaw-jaw than to war-war. Car owner reasoned with me and told me to not to pay anything for that week.

Fast forward 1 year plus, he still calls me till tomorrow to ask after me. Sometime last year, he called me to ask if I wanted a tokunbo Corolla on hire purchase. I will pay at my convenience. No deposit, no guarantor. I told him no sir, I have a job.


I am going somewhere with my stories.

That is an engine problem sir and not tranny.

Why don't you ask your mech to check and rectify sir. Then about the tranny issue I will need a physical inspection.

This doesn't happen when i start d engine in the morning but as time passes it happens...whats the problem here abeg ? Jus changed the gear and engine to v6 and mileage now is less than 140k...no warning light is showing in dashboard...

Have you scan it for any hidden fault codes?
Then I need physical inspection sir to check the fluid and color before we go further to get to the root of the problem.

sorry for d long message but this lockdown period might favour reading long msgs. I'm d quiet type so I have never open mouth to insult my husband during any misunderstanding. just arguments and my voice may go up a bit trying to explain or clear myself but he will start saying im raising my voice and talking back at him and start saying all sort of things, honestly sometimes I wished I could unleash d anger deep down and screammm but I always have self control. if u sit with him, he will give u a million reasons why I'm not a good wife and if u don't know me well, u will fall for it because he tells it so well. When I met my husband nysc days, he was very close to God, organizing programs in church and handling them. He told me he was called to be a pastor and that excited me but im not seeing that now lol. He's spiritual life is almost zero. And back then, he had nothing, we would spend all my money even to reach he's sick mother in d village i would buy all d foodstuff to send to her, d way he talked he sounded promising that things will get better with him, but today, I still suffer, I have no savings, all my salary is on d house. He works too and earns but he's salary cover rent and d children's school fees finished. Ma'am first and foremost I won't join the band of people asking for the 2nd narrative, I mean your husband side of the story.

Am a product of a broken home and I can tell from your story that your husby is a low self esteem man. When you have such man as a husband you have two options
1. Be quite and prayerful or
2. Take the easy and hard decision out of the marriage

But who will suffer your kids will suffer and don't forget your husband can give a good narrative to who cares to listen how bad you are and not a wife material kind of woman.

So madam I will simply ask you to find happiness in yourself and your kids. Cuz that man is a failed project. No matter what you try you can never win. You can't please them. So do yourself a favor and relax your mind and learn to listen and talk less no matter what.

I didnt drive my 2003 highlander for like 3 weeks at the beginning of this lockdown.

when i finally moved her, noticed that while driving (on D), the gear disengages and if I depress the throttle, it just revs like the car is on park or neutral.

I had to engage the reverse gear first, then move back to drive (D) before it picked again.

this has happened like twice after I first noticed it.

Please advise on how to fix this.

Am currently using a Toyota Camry 2001( just bought it toks recently )

But about upgrading to Toyota Venza 08/09 or Toyota Highlander 08

Can U Help Out With Any Advice As Regards The Usage Of Both Cars On Nigerian Roads

It depends on what you want to know sir.

Camry 2001 is a good car with a good engine and a good suspension system.
Parts are relatively easy and cheap to get.
For the useage with Nigeria roads just plan on changing parts or whole suspension sysyem.
And always use the recommended oil to service both the engine and transmission. You should be good..

For Venza also good and balance well with the Nigeria roads but parts are relatively expensive but it all depends on your mechanic. But you will sure enjoy it if you have a very good Technician to handle repairs and not your regular road side due to the car sensor that can be alter by baba kazeem due to ignorance. Like the thermostat that they will advise you to remove.

Good day sir, I'm having issues with my Nissan Altima 2002 transmission (auto transmission). After moving for like 15 minutes the gear will stop selecting. If I park and switch off the engine and wait for like one hour and start the car the gear will select and work perfectly for like 15 minutes and will stop selecting. My mechanic doesn't really know what is wrong with the gear. He brought one gear mechanic, the gear mechanic couldn't pinpoint what is wrong with the gear.

But one thing I noticed is that I started having this problem after changing the engine. I wasn't having this problem with the former engine. The former engine was smoking that's why I changed it. The gear was brought down, washed thoroughly and serviced when the engine was changed. Since then I have been having this problem of the gear not selecting after working for like 15 minutes

I'll be glad if you can tell me what is wrong and way out!

Good day sir, first from 2002 to 2006 model of your car model uses what I refer to as TCM - Transmission Control Module. It act like a Brainbox for transmission. When you changed the engine you were suppose to relearn the TCM to sync with the new engine.

But first I will ask you to scan and send me the fault codes to know where the problem is.

But from experience that is the probs with such situations..
