South Shore charged 350k for lap & die? Na wa o. To think their cs is even cheaper than that of Georges cos I was supposed to have my boys there, company referral but ran away when the Dr kept scooping me to consider veejay delivery rather than cs I'd planned. Na proper British man wey dey follow text book theories to the latter. Though he's good sha, I must confess.

My zone. Am good and very much around. Been a bit busy of late but I still find time to pop in once in a while.

Zara mum, the procedure is not too different from hsg in that they both strive to see the condition of the fallopian tube. The major difference is that u're put to sleep and a small incision is made under ur navel (like a mini surgery) thru which dye is passed thru the tubes and it's viewed from a screen to check if they flow down the tubes or not. When I did mine at omni, it was about N90k or so in 2008. Don't know what they charge now but if uch does it for 35k then it's really cheap. Check google.
Kike 350-450k is rather on the high side sha. U sure na naija u do am? Just kidding cos I was really like wondering what the clinic will charge for CS if ordinary lap & die costs that much. All our 2014 mama's in the house, I hail o!

It should work for you but you need to balance your hormones by taking care of the prolactin. check the ttc forum, they have discovered quite a number of natural ways of reducing prolactin levels including ewedu. though dont know how effective it is but if you check google, there are a number of drugs that are very good in taking care of high prolactin levels. About the tubal blockage, some people claim flushing worked for them. You could also try that before embarking on IVF just incase you have hydrosalpinx in the tubes. All the best Dear, there is nothing God cannot do and also have in mild that your case is small compared to what a number of women are passing thru so you too will conquer infertility too by His grace.

Salsera, its true Dear, one can't be a surrogate mother to their relatives and friends when they dont have theirs. Inasmuch as the bill has not been passed in the house of reps, I doubt if its illegal when matured ladies are used as surrogates cos a lot of fertility hospitals are involved in surrogacy.

Meanwhile, dont know why Nigerians are so scared of commenting on surrogacy issues whereas people keep sending me emails asking if I have or know anyone who wants to be a surrogate. Abeg, let me state it categorically, I"m not an agent, neither do I have or know of anyone who wants to be a surrogate mum. If I have such links, I won't wait 7yrs to have a baby cos I would have used them myself after several failed iVfs. Am only posting information on this topic so waiting couples who have the means and resources can also look in this direction since its a better option than adoption.

Venus and Amazon, the boys are good, having fun scattering and destroying anything in sight. Its not easy chasing them everywhere but we thank God. At least no be hospital things for now.

Fruitfulmama, that clinic the Ark, I wrote something about them on the "cost of IVF" thread. The lady was with Bridge and Rodding before opening the place. I havent really seen much BFPs from that end as such, though I cant make a conclusion with the few people I know who have used them to say they have low bfp. But they played a fast one on one of my senior friends who paid over N1.3m for IVF+donor eggs. After all the trouble she still got a BFN.

Safe, about that Mama Helen, I heard that is what she charges. I dont think it includes tests and orthdox medicine. Heard its herbs and massage tins. Its quite expensive sha for native medicine but you know this is Lagos and its nowhere compared to IVF price. So if person get result with N120k, its not so bad afterall. Me na N2500 I use do herbal cleansing for warri so my head dey turn when I hear all this price but then na Pikin mata be this.

***I read this on yahoo news this morning and felt the urge to share because a lot of waiting mothers die in silence when there are still a number of ways of becoming biological mothers to their children. Read on....

Annie and Joby Johnston of Lewis Center, Ohio, decided last February to take a break from the surgeries, in-vitro fertilization and artificial insemination they'd gone through for five years to try to have a baby.

"We were tired of doing the same thing and expecting a different result," Annie, 34, told GoodMorningAmerica.com. "Chrissy was our different thing this time around."

Chrissy is Chrissy Knott, Annie's only sibling and older sister, a 37-year-old married mother of two boys.

Knott told her sister and brother-in-law in 2011, after their first few rounds of in-vitro failed, that she would carry their baby for them. Two years later, on Feb. 19, the Johnstons took her up on her offer and a doctor implanted two embryos in each sister.

"The doctor made sure that everyone was OK with the possibility of four babies because it was possible," Johnston said. "But, for us, after trying for so long, we were just trying to increase our chances of getting at least one."

Nine days later, the two sisters found out that they were both expecting a baby. One month after that, at the seven-week ultrasound, the two sisters learned they were each carrying twins, classified technically as quadruplets.

"I was relieved, more than anything, that the babies were still developing," Johnston said. "My husband, I think, was thinking more down the road of what we were going to do with four babies."

Joby Johnston didn't have too much to worry about, fortunately, in terms of helping hands considering the two sisters live only seven houses apart. The sisters' parents, upon finding out their family was growing by four, put their house on the market and moved from nearly two hours away to live with the Johnstons and prepare for the babies.

On Oct. 24, Johnston and Knott gave birth to four healthy babies in scheduled C-sections so that the quadruplets would share the same birthday.

"My sister was carrying the two boys, and she delivered first, so I could be there in the room for her when she had them," Johnston said. "Two hours later, at 9:30 a.m., I delivered the girls."

The babies - Charles (6 pounds), Thomas (6 pounds, 2 ounces), Grace (5 pounds, 7 ounces) , Hadley (5 pounds, 4 ounes) - were all born healthy.

"We still can't believe it sometimes," said Johnston.

Johnston said the family had transformed the great room of their four-bedroom house into a makeshift nursery until the babies were big enough to sleep in their cribs. She and her sister are both pumping breast milk and feeding the babies with bottles, which allows "more hands to help," said Johnston.

Once the babies are big enough, they'll move upstairs into their nursery, and eventually be told by their mom and aunt the happy tale of how they came into the world.

"We're very thankful for what she did for us," Johnston said of her sister. "We're very grateful and thankful that they're all here."

demmykay: @blendy77 pls wat oda symptoms did u see in ur baby dat had meales? M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ 8mths old baby has rashes though it has been on and off since wen he was 3mth. D recent one came out so much on his hands nd back nd part of his face. D last time I took him to d hospital I was give hydrocortisone which cleared it within days. Now its back again. Pls any advice on wat to use on him to clear d rash?

My boy had almost all the symptoms Kenny mentioned apart from reddening of the eyes. we never suspected measles cos the rash was the last of the symptoms to appear. We kept treating the fever and cough which will subside and reappear after a while till on saturday at the airport when I saw the rash all over him. Dont even know how long those rashes have been there and what part of his body it started from. but they are a bit reddish (he is light skinned) in colour and worse on his face and neck. The first hospital we got to gave us calamine lotion as one of the drugs but a second opinion at Georges said they dont use calamine lotion anymore so they just gave us other drugs including antibiotics and the rashes cleared within a few days. As at yesterday, there were really not that noticable except at very close range. You need to take your baby to a hospital and seek a second opinion if possible. Cos when I went to my company's clinic where I was given calamine lotion, I remembered the Dr I met that day said it wasnt measles but an allergy/reaction to either somethg he ate or where we stayed when we travelled and I had to go to Georges that night straight from the airport cos my hubby wasnt convinced it wasnt measles.

My Sisters and Brothers, this thread has been so quiet of late. What's happening? where is everyone? I had an official assignment in the US and decided to travel with my boys. It was one wahala and sickness after the other. The last wahala was very high temperature the whole of last week which eventually turned into measles for one of the boys. To say it was frightening is the least as these boys hardly fall ill while here. Anyways we are back and the rashes is gradually clearing off.
On return to naija over the weekend, I met this lovely lady that I just feel the urge to share her testimony just to encourage someone. I have asked her to come join us and share her story herself because we've had so many bad news of late and I know a lot of people are gradually giving up. But my Dears, there are times we give up on God and feel or assume we are facing the worse until we hear somebody else's story and thank God that at least ours isnt that bad.
Ok this lady, let's call her Mrs XYZ. We were attracted to each other thru our babies, twins on my part and 2 sets of twins on her part. A colleague introduced us and we got gisting. And of course the whole gist was centered on twins, babies, twins.... Mrs XYZ told me how she did IVF 8 times in her 11 years of marriage and all were BFN. She travelled far and wide, from Bridge in Nigeria to South African's cape town fertility to UK and to the US totalling 8 procedures and all were negative. You can imagine what she must have gone through. She said she cried so much after a BFN in south africa that a woman she has never met before kept banging on her door and consoling her from outside (according to her, she said its like people in that area knew Cape town fertility patients always occupy that particular apartment so they are used to wailings when people get BFN). Hmmmmm, I can imagine.
Mrs XYZ gave up and just decided to take a break for a while only for her to discover months later that she was pregnant without any ivf, drugs or procedure. As if that was not enough, she gave birth to a set of twins. A boy and a girl. Mrs XYZ's babies were not up to a year when she discovered she was pregnant again and this time around, she gave birth to another set of twins, 2 girls. My Sisters, you need to see goose pimples all over my body as I was hearing her and seeing the beautiful kids God decided to bless her with after 11yrs of marriage. She said, "my Dear, see me na, me too am discussing family planning cos my husband doesnt want to hear am pregnant again." Her kids are 2yrs+ for the first set while the 2nd set of twins is just 5m.
I decided to share her story cos most of us must have doubted God at one time or the other. Even me, am a culprit after several failed ivf. I told Mrs XYZ that God must have really been laughing at us all those years we were crying and wailing after each failed ivf. He must have been saying, if only my children know what I have in store for them, they wont even waste their tears. Am still waiting for my new freind Mrs XYZ to come on board, cos I know our faith needs to be strenghtened seriously. God bless all waiting mothers in this house and give you all mind blowing testimonies IJN. Amen!

kaf cakes:

Hi blendy, I've read your story on this thread for a while now,,but i didn't see your birth story, I know u had ur lovely babies at georges, plz I wanted to find out, how the birth experience was and how many weeks were you when you welcomed them, I'm comparing georges or reddington, so i just wanted to know, thanks, waiting for ur reply.

Georges is good but unneccessarily expensive. I gave birth to my boys at 37 weeks through elective CS. Desperation and anxiety didnt allow me wait for labour so my Dr was able to manage and talk me into waiting till 37wks. Georges standard and facilities can be compared to any good hospital you'll find in the US and UK as the MD, Dr Iketunbosun worked in the UK for a long time before relocating to Naija and he attends to most of his patients himself so you can be sure of the best. If you're expecting multiples and planning for CS, be ready to spend a little over N1m and about 550-700k for singleton normal delivery. Their rooms are from 25k shared to 40k private room. Its a good pick if ur organization is footing the bills. Reddington is equally good from what I heard though I havent had any biz with them. Most of my write up is on the IVF thread.

My Sister take ur baby to the hospital. I experienced exactly same thing last week and mine turned out to be measles. Though I have no idea if a 5m old can contact measles at that early age sha but then my own baby was not up to 9m before contacting it and we were actually waiting for 9m to immunize them. His twin brother was immunized today but we can't rule out his contacting it as he hasn't shown any symptoms yet.

@Demmykay, there's no difference between both milk just the container that is different. I think they used the second container (the expensive one) when they initially changed the name from sma progress to sma 2. Some marketers will tell u the cheaper one is Nigeria while the expensive one is foreign. Its all crap. That was what I was made to believe up till 2m ago when I wanted to buy from tesco and discovered its the cheaper one (advanced gold system) they actually sell all over Europe and when I made enquiries, was told that expensive one was only on the shelves for a short while before the container was changed. U can check asda and tesco website or just Google sma website.

Hello Mummies and Drs in the house, I need advice urgently to stop frequently stooling in one of my boys. Am unable to lay my hands on any antibiotics as we are currently not in Naija and pharmacies here refused to sell to me except I get a prescription. Though I travelled with medical insurance from my organization but I really don't know my way around as in going to a hospital etc and am also on a tight work schedule.
Please help with suggestions on home remedies I can use and also non prescription drugs that can stop purging in an 8m+ infant.

mrsraiy: please people can anybody help me with details on hcg trigger shots and egg collection? I need to know from people who have experienced them. I might be having my trigger shot tommorrow evening and i heard it can be very painful. Bt right now i think i will welcome it cos i want to be done with this daily injection ish.
What about egg collection? How is it after the procedure? Did you feel any discomfort after it? I am just overly concerned and scared. I know i will be knocked out and dts what scares me the most. Please answers will be most welcome.

There's absolutely no difference between the normal fsh injection you've been taking and hcg trigger injection. Its the same thg my Sister. About egg collection, u shouldn't feel much discomfort if u're not hyperstimulated. The truth is u'll feel cramps which might get a little worse after transfer. The good news is that the thought of ur babies trying to settle 'in there' will make the pains bearable.

Omogemi, she will walk when she's ready to. These babies have their own clock and calender which is different from ours. When my boys didn't sit at 5m, I tot they were late until one day I returned from work and met my smallie sitting down and 2 wks later the bobo was already crawling on his tummy n kneels at intervals. By 6m, he was a fast crawler scattering things everywhere. They know what they are doing jare. His senior bros just keep following behind. At 4m he wasn't even carrying his head and my nannies were always mocking him. I was worried initially till I read a guy's comment here that his son couldn't carry his head at 5m. So these children will always move to their nex level when they are ready.

Hummingbird sorry o! I dey feel u but I don't mind being in ur shoes even with twins cos it means I'll be getting pregnant free of charge. Anyways, babies are special gifts from God. Just get good nannies to help u out. So many of us spent moni to get pregnant and some are still spending with no result so just go and prepare for the newbie and be more careful next time.
