That's like saying they are clanish. That's a lie! I lived with them and I saw no such trait in them. They are nice to outsiders. While there, I lost my Mum. I was surprised to see my landlord's son at my Mum's burial at Mbaise. All the way from Nsukka. By the way, I told no one before traveling home because I didn't know. I was just ordered to come home. They got the info from my roommate.

My friend they are very clanish. My uncle from my mother's side is a lecturer in UNN and I totally agree with what that poster said. My uncle and I do not see eye to eye because of that terrible trait they have.

Before, thought that abakaliki people are the most backward in igboland until they were giving a state of their own. Now, I know it's Enugu and when I say Enugu, I mean Enugu state minus Enugu city. Most especially nsukka. I have never seen a retrogressive city abi mini city like nsukka and it's environs.

It's only building houses up and down. If u schooled in UNN maybe 10 yrs ago, go back there, the same, the same. Nothing has changed.
No industry close by.

The people are so discriminative u wonder how they go to church. So jealous. That u are an outsider and planted a biz in nsukka, they will never allow it to see the light of the day. At a point u will be fighting to stay alive not to talk of your biz. Their men, so lazy. Everybody want to work in the university.

The inflow of venture capital into the African technology ecosystem is not slowing down.

Last year, startups operating on the continent received a total of $1.3 billion in startup funding, an annual funding report by WeeTracker shows. It’s the first time annual Africa-focused startup funding has crossed the $1 billion mark according to Weetracker’s methodology although Partech Ventures, which also compiles annual funding report, notes the billion-dollar mark was reached last year.

The difference in funding totals of annual reports usually boil down to variations in methodology, but for its part, WeeTracker’s reports covers private companies that have raised investment to operate in Africa irrespective of where they are headquartered. It also only covers deals that are verifiable via press release, the startup or investor or regulatory filings.

Regardless, the $1.3 billion invested in African tech companies 2019, compared to just under $200 million invested in 2015, underscores the rapid emergence and growth of technology ecosystems across the continent, particularly over the past decade.

Nigeria and Kenya were the continent’s top startup investment destinations, jointly accounting for 81.5% of investment received in 2019. For its part, Nigeria ranked top both for number of deals done and for their value as startup investment received grew nearly five fold compared to 2018.

Elsewhere, Egypt also recorded strong growth with investment more than doubling in the last year, largely thanks to the funding raised by Swvl, the bus hailing company, which raised $4 million in June and has also expanded across and beyond the continent. In contrast, South Africa, typically a top startup investment destination, recorded decline in 2019 with both the number and value of deals dipping.

The sizes of funding rounds also notably gotten bigger in 2019 as 26 deals (equaling 6% of the deals total), accounted for 83% of total funding raised in 2019.

The bumper rounds were largely recorded in fintech with the sector dominating startup funding yet again thanks to sustained interest from global payments giants backing African fintech companies: in November, Visa paid $200 million for a 20% stake in Nigerian payments processor, Interswitch making it Africa’s first fintech unicorn. Just as importantly, new interest in African fintech emerged from China with OPay and PalmPay, two new payments companies in Nigeria, jointly receiving over $210 million in funding predominantly from Chinese investors.

A handful of international broadcast journalists drawn from CNN, NPR, CNBC and other reputable networks have accused Nigeria's former Vice President and owner of Gotel Africa Media Limited, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, of breaching a one year contract they had with the company as consultants.

The workers, who claimed they are owed several months of salaries, revealed that they left Nigeria hapless and with only promissory notes instead of monies owed them by Gotel.

The affected persons include David Guinan, Ebong Udoma, William Chu, Devon Petley, Susie Iliyan, Teddy Vuong, Hannington Osodo, Kostas Sergiadis and Richard Spiropoulos.

They were all hired between late 2014 and early 2015 by Atiku's company based in Yola, Adamawa State.

According to the team, their mission was to launch an international news channel based in Abuja for Atiku but barely 10 months after they arrived Nigeria, they were forced to leave with major outstanding salaries despite having valid work visas issued by the Nigerian Government.

Narrating his sad ordeal, Chu revealed that all the promises made to them by Atiku's company were never fulfilled.

He said, “Before I left New York, John Chiahemen and Gary Alfonso gave me the rundown of what I'd be doing when I arrived.

“I was told that I'd be based in Abuja for a year. I was told that the project was fully funded, to the tune of several millions of United States dollars.

“I was told that we had a facility ready to build out and funds budgeted for equipment. None of this was true.”

Guinan, who was hired in 2014 to act as Gotel’s Director of Television and Digital Media, said, “I was told to bring my family, my wife and our baby girl, who wasn’t even two years old at the time.

“My contract promised a three-bedroom house in Abuja and a driver. From the moment we landed almost nothing promised was delivered.

“We were immediately placed in substandard accommodations, a motel and unfriendly staff.”

In his remarks, Osodo from Kenya and former producer with Reuters, said, “I lost most of my belongings due to indebtedness.

“My house was repossessed by the bank because of delayed payments by Gotel.

“By the way, I couldn’t make the payments for months because I had banked on the contract I signed that bore the name and bond of Abubakar Atiku.”

Efforts by the affected persons to get their salaries via serial of letters through their lawyers to Gotel and Atiku have yielded no results.

Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, didn't respond to calls and text messages to his mobile telephone line by SaharaReporters over the matter.

He said " We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers and the rulers of the darkness of this world" He also said, " when your enemy asks you for water, food, give him because by so doing you will be heaping coals of fire on his head"(in a nutshell overwhelm him with goodness). He also said PRAY FOR YOUR ENEMIES and not FIGHT your enemies.

Jesus when he came to be arrested had the power to call for a legion of angels even after Peter cut off the ear of the Roman soldier but Jesus did no such thing.

James and John asked him one time to call for thunder to consume HIS ENEMIES but Jesus said no because they do not know the manner of spirit they have.

Christianity is not called to violence but to peace and love. Our weapon is love and this was the same weapon Jesus used to win us to himself even when we were his enemies. France and NATO never paid Iran anything. It was a strictly USA/Obama affair and Obama negotiated release of Iranian monies in part which they had on hold. It was essentially Iranian money so USA spent no penny of theirs to maintain peace with Iran unlike Trump who has already spent about $70m dollars on the drone alone that killed Soleimani and also several millions more on deployment of troops to Kuwait and other regions after he claimed he would withdraw troops and now doing the exact opposite
