I used to be a self-disciplined person but this year I lost my will to reject temptation. I fell into temptation this year, since then I have not been able to get out of it.
I was surfing through the net this evening when I came across a scripture that reset my brain. I became so scared within me. I wonder if God will ever forgive me.

I need to rededicate my life to God and I need books that can help renew my heart. Pls brethren a brother.

Rejoice! God has forgiven you through the precious blood of Jesus. He wants you to know and believe it with all your heart.

You can not reign above sin if you still believe that God is angry at you and is out to punish you for your sins.

Brethren I've heard a lot about perfection so I want to ask the question here please

Can you be perfect?

CC:Bible scholars in the house

We are perfect in Christ. It is time the truth of our perfection in Christ swallows us up, for we can't walk the perfect walk until we know and believe it wholly with everything we got.

Shalom!

The evidence for this is replete on here. Many claim they believe, but their actions are contrary to what they claim to believe. And that is precisely why I am against "believe", after all even demons believe, so how could it be a virtue, especially when there are many verses that state that God prefers undemonic behaviour?

I wholly agree with with you on this. Our actions exposes what we truly believe. Jesus says, "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks and should l also add that we also act out of the abundance of our heart."

For example, you can't believe that vengeance is the Lord's, yet you are going to avenge yourself at the same time. By you going to avenge yourself simply portrays that you don't believe in the truth that vengeance is for the Lord.

Blood, I do agree with you, somewhat. Jesus is so benevolent with his love, and not for what we do but simply because we are human. After all, scripture clearly states that "for God so loved the world". I, myself, would not trust that God does not extend that benevolence to goats and sheep too who do no work, after all we've all heard of the birds and the bees that work not. But can I be of Christ and claim "I am justified"? Or should I even justify others? Who made me God, blood? But even after accepting that love of Christ and the power therein, would that love and power not manifest in me and produce much fruit so that God in heaven be glorified?

I believe faith without works that produce fruits is like salt that has lost its saltiness. Christ did give two commands, love God, which is work, and love one another, which is even more work considering how nasty neighbours can be at times. And no, I am not suggesting one is justified by ones work, but that work still needs to be done, unless one thinks singing aleluya is all God requires. I am a Jamesiam I guess, so my faith (the Power of Christ in me) manifests in what I do which is my works, my conduct and my behaviour. Though that's no reason to go about claiming I have done work so therefore I am justified or righteous! As I've said here, claiming righteousness is arrogance. The Pharisee tried it and Christ's retort is clear, “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” However worshipping God is itself work, especially when one considers worshipping God to mean the love one must have for one's neighbour. Or do you not see how much work one must have done in order to be able to turn the other cheek? And is not written that in as much as ye have worshipped the least of these the God in heaven is worshipped45? And yet, they are not for righteousness, which I must be careful not to practice in front of others to be seen by them, or I will have no reward from the Father in heaven".

Though some claim works are irrelevant, I do not believe they believe they should therefore do no work (it is here that I agree with you, bloodofthelamb), and scripture is clear on this fact! I bet we all work, even if its preaching the gospel. As for being righteous though, I leave that to God to decide.

Buda, now, we are on the same page speaking one language. Those who derives joy and satisfaction in sin have neither seen him nor know him. Grace is no license to im morality. Genue faith in Christ will definitely produce a changed heart which will result in change of attitude and conduct that brings glory to God.

You are a liar, if you say you know him and still practice lawlessness continuously. When Christ becomes your Vine, your fruit (love, Joy, patience, kindness, etc) will be good.

There you go. By what one does and not just "believing", or "Lord, Lord", as some do.

Buda, I don't think anybody is putting and disregarding works, certainly not me. Afterall, didn't the scripture say, "we are created in Christ for good works?"

God is please when we walk upright but where the problem comes in is when we entertain the thoughts that we are justified by it. We will have something boast about, if our good works can get into heaven. Don't you think so?

I watched a program yesterday that claimed William Tyndale, in translating the Bible into English, added "by faith alone", to oppose papal doctrine regarding works (buying indulgences, praying so many times a day and worship of the saints). Martin Luther is claimed to have done the same in German.

To claim justification by hearing is just so lazy and unbelievable. Even you would hesitate justifying quite a few people whom you sit in church with and who hear with you. Except I hope you are better than that and would rather concern yourself with your own forest in your own eyes.

There is nothing lazy about justification by faith alone Buda. I was guilty as charged by the law, then Jesus stepped in and took the sword of judgement for me. My own part is to believe that he indeed was condemned for me, then I will walk away justified with so much love for the one who was judged guilty for me.

What is there to be done when the work have been finished at the cross? In the new testament we don't forgive those who wrong us because we want God to forgive us. We forgive those that wrong us in one way or another, because we have been forgiven by God.

Proper understanding of this great truth will open us up to grace and the power of God.

I know your advocate will soon come to apologize on your behalf...just like I said earlier what you need is to enroll in a children class for Bible stories

Go through this link from official website of JWs and see what they say

https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/questions/nephilim-giants/

First paragraph read "The Nephilim were giants, the violent superhuman offspring produced when wicked angels mated with human women in the days of Noah."

Now how can wicked angels be called sons of God

I want answer please....

I never believe that those sons of God were angels. The Jesus said we will be like angels at ressurection because they don't marry.

Secondly, for an angel to materialise in flesh without God's permission means he has the power to create.

We know that demons can't create for themselves bodies, they only possess the human body created by God.

Religion / Re: Does Romans 2:7 Teach Works Salvation? by bloodofthelamb(m): 11:59am On Mar 26, 2019
solite3:
Does Romans 2:7 teach works salvation?

Question: "Does Romans 2:7 teach works salvation?"
Answer: Romans 2:7 states, “To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.” Taken alone, these words seem to indicate works are required for salvation and eternal life. However, examined within their larger context and alongside many other biblical passages, it becomes clear that salvation is solely a gift of God by grace through faith.

The conclusion of Paul’s arguments in
Romans 2 focuses on a changed heart that leads to changed actions. Romans 2:28–29 emphasizes true, spiritual conversion: “A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.” The believer is one whose heart has been “circumcised” by the Spirit; this person is right with God, whereas someone physically circumcised, according to “the written code,” may or may not be born again. The contrast is between the righteousness that comes by faith versus that which is sought through the Law. Romans 2:7 mentions the righteous acts that result from having a changed heart; our godly actions are evidence of our salvation, as James, John, and Peter also discuss in their letters.

Paul’s words in Romans 2:7 cannot be considered apart from what he writes elsewhere in the same letter. Paul pointedly defines salvation as a free gift: “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. . . . All are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” ( Romans 3:22 , 24). Later, he says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” ( Romans 6:23).

Romans 2:7 does not teach a works-based salvation. Such a “gospel” was anathema to Paul (see Galatians 1:6–9 ). In all his epistles, including Romans, Paul makes the case that salvation is not received by works that we do:
• “Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law” ( Romans 3:20).
• “For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law” ( Romans 3:28).
• “However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness” ( Romans 4:5 ).
• “And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace” ( Romans 11:6 ).

The repeated theme of Romans is salvation by God’s grace through faith . Paul’s other writings emphasize this theme as well. Ephesians 2:8–9 is a good example: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Other New Testament writers, and Jesus Himself, demonstrate that salvation is a gift of God and not something earned through our works ( John 3:16–18 ; 6:28–29; 1 Peter 1:3–9 ; 1 John 3:1–5 ; 5:1–12 ).
The biblical message is clear: salvation is not by works but by God’s grace, and it is received through faith. Romans 2:7 does not teach salvation by works; rather, it sets up a contrast between those who are changed by God’s grace and live for Him and those who reject His salvation and truth (verse 8 ). In Romans 2:7, those who “by persisting in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality” are those who have genuinely trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation, by grace through faith.

Nice work brother! Paul who layed curse on those who preached salvation and justification by works cannot possibly preach same.

Apostle Paul is explaining to them and by extension us that it is the hearers are justified before God but the doers. But none of us can successfully keep and do the laws, not even the Jews can boast of fully keeping and doing it, or can you?

The law demands absolute and total obedience. There is no "God knows I have tried." The law does not tolerate partial obedience from anybody, you must follow it and do it to the letter

Here is the deal, man could have been justified if he was able to hear and do the law to the last one. But man could not and cannot, that is why God in his mercy presented another way to justify man which Paul stated clearly in his epistle.

Justification is by faith in Christ Jesus only.

That text is about who does the law Jews or Gentles.

Pls read from verse 10 or even from verse 1 right down you wld see that you are wrong.

The primary theme of Paul's letter to believers in Rome is "how God has made us righteous by faith in Christ." But Paul started his letter explaining our sinfulness and how we have falling short of God's glorious standard. Both Jews and gentiles have all come short of the glory of the Lord.

He also explained the place of the law and it purpose in this same letter. One must be careful and see where the writers of this letters are coming from before you fall into error of believing.

When you take a particular phrase out of context, you make the letter say what it doesn't say.

To answer your question I see no one in Christ who will decide to continue in sin, if he does then that only means one thing that he is not yet in Christ.

Though an eagle can live like a chicken due to wrong association and lost of identity, but that doesn't automatically make the eagle a chicken. All the eagle needs to soar again is the knowledge of it identity.

Though we the righteousness of God in God can sometimes walk in sin but that does not mean we will remain in it. Righteousness is our DNA in Christ. In truth we don't have former ways in Christ. Remember, "if anyone be in Christ he is a righteous new creation."

Judas never had the Holy Spirit dwelling in him. The Spirit came officially upon men at Pentecost when Christ has been glorified.

And then came the Word of the Lord God Almighty as brought to us by the Lord God's Only begotten Son Messiah Lord Jesus Christ the Truth and the Way and The Fulfillment of the Law

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Murder
21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder,[a] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister[b][c] will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’[d] is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.

25 “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.

Adultery
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[e] 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Divorce
31 “It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’[f] 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Oaths
33 “Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’ 34 But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. 36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. 37 All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.[g]

Eye for Eye
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[h] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Love for Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[i] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

And you think it is by Grace and no work bloodofthelamb that you would be able to do better than Abraham David Moses Job and the Pharisee Jesus talked about? That seems like a waste of the Blood of Jesus to me! I mean, whats the point of the Grace I have that Jesus died on a cross for me so I can have the most Holy Word to read two thousand years later and learn not to be like Abraham David Moses Job and the Pharisee Jesus talked about?

My philosophy is narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life so work hard buda to be amongst the few who find it.

By the Grace of the Almighty God of course and God's Son Jesus Christ the Messiah.

Let me ask you a question, if you promise me a thing and latter fulfill it. is the promise still standing? Jesus said he came not to abolish or set aside the law, but to fulfill it. He indeed fulfilled it when he ascended the cross.

According to the law anyone caught in adultery must be Stoned to death. But what did Jesus did when they brought the woman caught in adultery? Did he cast the first stone at her? No he didn't. Christ is the end of the law. He is the fulfilment of the law. All the stone that was suppose to land upon that woman caught in the act was redirected towards Jesus, the lamb of God at the cross.

Do you think after that incidence, the woman Jesus saved from execution will continue her lifestyle without change? Grace captures the heart and pulls away from sin.

So, you can live wrong because God is waiting patiently believing that you will walk the right path He set before you?

You are the one saying so. He that is born of God cannot continue to live wrongly, for the seed of God is in him.
