Man this is interesting and troubling at same time. By the end of the exercise we could have as many as 50k people registered assuming the other zonal offices are seeing similar numbers. There's a lot of questions need to be answered. Other than the illegal immigrant need to be deported.
Potential FOIA questions: • What nationality are these people? • Why are they in the country? • What's the percentage of legal to illegal immigrants registering? • what's their end goal after they register? Do they want to permanently residents or citizens? |
Politics › Nigeria Registers Over 2,100 Immigrants In Two Months - Official by Blue3k(op): 1:54pm On Sep 07, 2019 |
By Abdulaziz Abdulaziz
The Nigerian government said it has registered 2,100 immigrants in one of its centres set up to document foreigners living in the country.
The registration is part of a window promulgated by the federal government to enable all undocumented foreign nationals to present themselves for registration.
A government statement said more than seven other centres are also operating across the country to capture details of all resident foreigners.
The statement signed by the spokesperson of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Sunday James, said the exercise "is part of the Service's statutory responsibilities prescribed by the Immigration Regulation 2017".
The registration, according to the statement, "is yielding results as over 2,100 migrants have been registered at the NIS Headquarters alone, while registration centres at Lagos, Rivers, Delta, Ogun, Ekiti, Kwara, Cross River, and others are steadily following in a bid to achieve a nation-wide registration exercise."
"The CGI hereby calls on all migrants staying beyond 90 days in Nigeria, whether regular or otherwise (including those without proper documents) to take advantage of the 6-months amnesty period given by the President which lasts between 12th July,2019 to 11th January,2020 and register at the nearest Migrant e-Registration centres in their places of residence."
The Immigration Service said the biometric registration will be a continuous process and it urged all concerned foreigners to key in to it.
The spokesperson also quoted Section 22 (1 & 2) of the Immigration Regulation 2017 "which empowers the Service to maintain a register of all immigrants and also empowers the Comptroller General to keep in the registry, information and particulars of an Immigrant as he may time to time direct". These are the laws regarding firearns citezens sre allowed to own. We should have semi automatic weapons. Semi auto shout gun good for defense and hunting. It should be obvious to most people the government can't protect you so you should be empowered by law to protect yourself. In Katsina a few days ago dozen of people were kidnapped by these bandits. The police didnt show up for 2hrs while shots were fired. If the people had arms thry coulr just take these marauders out themselves. You can find other more pathetic stories if you look online. Personal Firearms:
1. Shotguns other than-
(a) automatic and semi-automatic shotguns; and
(b) shotguns provided with any kind of mechanical reloading device.
2. Sporting rifles, namely rifles of calibres other than those specified in Item 6 of Part I. PS: how many legal gun owners do we have in the chat? |

omenka: All these are symptomatic of a military in shambles. If we had a military on top of its game, we wouldn't be "paying visits" to people who are supposed to be counting stones in maximum security prisons or writing in pains in hell.
Wake up Mr President!! He's done none next to nothing on that front. It's quite pathetic really considering this should be his specialty. He should be reforming secruity policy. He could easily eliminate security votes then opt to allocate money to security forces transparently. DICON next to useless but he could tap into private sector for small arms manufacturing. (I'll make thread on it later) All he would to do is get APC to amend law deregulating industry. Other policies like decentralizing police require constitutional amendment. It pretty clear he doesn't favor that policy anyway. He should be trying to make us less dependent on foreign powers for basic defense. Chatham House: Security reform suggestions
• End Security votes •Create US-style inspector general offices tasked with exposing corruption, revealing waste and protecting whistle-blowers. • Consolidate the numerous security agencies and integrate each of them into either the military and police. • Consolidate Military support functions by creating joint combat support agencies that could help the force improve its dismal ratio of non-combat elements to frontline units. |

EVarn: I actually saw three patrol boats being hauled by trucks in Ore, Ondo State on Monday.
I wanted to take pictures, but the military escorts weren't smiling.
I don't really know the type of boats, but they looked like they were fresh out of the yard. Lol if they didn't want to be noticed they should've put a tarp on it. Why would they be mad about you taking a picture of public opperation. |

Lol we should loosen gun laws. If bandits are allowed to own Ak47s unbothered we should. I as a law abiding citizen should be have same right. Instead of confiscating arms and arresting criminal they're posing with them like they're on a hunt.

Charlie Boy recently called Buhari a whitch. If Buhari was petty or knew law he could sue him. Under the same criminal code its illegal to accuse people of such. Such a law shouldn't exist in my opinion. Its shouldn't different from calling someone a demon dragon or snake. If some calls you thief, murder or rapist you can sue for liable. Im assuming this law would stand because whitchcraft is a crime. 210. Any person who-
(a) by his statements or actions represents himself to be a witch or to have the power of witchcraft; or
(b) accuses or threatens to accuse any person with being a witch or with having the power of witchcraft; or
is guilty of a misdemeanour, and is liable to imprisonment for two years. |

In4matic: I agree with you. Let the minister of justice perform that task. Since he is an appointee of the executive and also a part of the justice system.
Afterall the Attorney General has the powers of Nole prosequi. (The power to decline to prosecute, which is considered the power to give life. ) So he ought to wield similar power (of death). I dont even think they should involve executive past performaning order. There's no need to duplicate orders. They can already appeal verdicts. The executive already hss pardoning powers if they want to intervene. That's why processes are slow. |

The plan by the Air Peace Airline to evacuate Nigerians in South Africa from Sept. 6 suffered a setback as majority of those interested in the process have expired passports. That's pretty irresponsible of them to not renew it. Just issue emergency documents after they prove their citizenship. |

You do not even have first hand service , experience with them but your arguments was based on your cousin's experience ( dem say).

helinues: Look through it or safety delivery? I doubt if you ever used Nipost before .
Anyways, private couriers are well trusted for their long years in Service and experience. I will over sleep self if I send my package through fedex or Ups cos I have tried them severally cos they always delivers. To deliver certificate. They won't know whats in envelope unless you tell them or look when ur gone. If I used NIPOST it was for online orders. Other than that I dont have need for postal service. My cousin used them to ship her stuff for sure. You never answered last question if you used service or research topic before forming opinion. The private courier point fine. Patronize who you want. You and another person on thread are afraid they'll steal your drivers licenses or bank cards. |

He said, “As of Monday, September 2, the service had 2,742 inmates on death row. We are compiling their list and I am sure a good number of them have exhausted their appeal and are waiting for the approving authority to either approve their execution or commute them to life sentence. I think they should just take governors out of these processes. They just add an extra layer of bureaucratic red tape. Why not just have prison commission handle it. |

helinues: Houses with No proper address are more than the one with.. If you are referring to Nipost delivering 20 million parcels in 2018, I can bet it majority at least 65% are company adds delivery not personal..
Nipost is still yet to be fully functional in Nigeria.. The truth is nobody trust them with important documents.
Do they even have tracking website to monitor parcels/packages? I doubt If you dont have address that's an issue with you're government. It shouldn't stop anyone else from receiving mail. Lol why do you want your taxes funding isn't serving you, are you that generous? When you have facts about NIPOST feel free to present them. The speculation is interesting but doesn't add much. Btw most mail in USA is company ads. What do yoy mean by fully functional, do you have specific complaint? Trust is reasonable concern. Its already illegal to tamper with mail. The government isnt going write down what's in envelope. Besides most dont care what you personally have going on. Yes they do offer mail tracking. Did you use or research service before forming opinion? http://www.nipost.gov.ng/Track_Trace.aspx |

Livefreeordieha: because nigeria is a dysfunctional society. Our postal services is dead. Nigeria has nothing to her name, only corruption and nnpc... NIPOST delivered 20 million parcels of mail in 2018. The institution does work and can be improved. helinues: To which mailing address? How many houses are numbered in Nigeria? You can pick home or post office box. Millions of homes and businesses have address. Drivers licenses have addresses on it. If you live in house that isnt your local government is lazy and inept. The post office box can work for you if your in such a situation. |

Its funny Aregbesola is promising to have passports available in 2 days. Im very skeptical but I'll be pleasantly surprised if he does get it done.
