Mark my words that this will not solve anything. Any bright idea must take into account the kind of people (animals) you are dealing with and this I suspect is another knee jerk reaction that will lead to more problems.

There are etag lanes and automatic lanes but what happens? people without credit, expired Tags, no tags clog up the lanes and create bottle necks. The more lanes you open up to electronic the more points of conflick....mark my words! There will always be someone who forgot to top up or someone trying to chance it and trying to pay cash knowing full well his credits have expired. What is going to happen when the man visiting from Aba or Ilesha or Jos gets to the toll...how does he pay?
Electronic tolls should scan license plates or tag on windshield. There's no reason to stop if they scan plate and mail your bill. If you have tag your account is online. Make the street fully electronic then your problem is solved.

What your mentioning sounds like toll you see at airport. Those issues exist since they don't work the same as toll I mentioned above.

Who ever starts selling refrigerated trucks will be making a killing. Also expect berf prices to increase a little bit. The herdsmen should ne happy they can sell same beef for a slight premium if they interested in other aspects of the business.

How would this work for people who don't live in that axis but visit once in a while?
You'll pay every once in awhile. They scan plates then mail your bill.

Toll tags have always been available and discounts have been available too . I use a windscreen tag on lekki toll gate all the time but cash on the Ikoyi link bridge because there u still have to manually place your plastic card on the reader for it to work which defeats the aim
Thanks for the information. If its not on ikoyi link then they should just add scanner. Its not that hard.

Finally someone with brains. This should have been done long ago. The state could give discount by selling toll tags.

I support this policy. The government should be supporting made in Nigeria as much as it reasonably can. Nigeria should have natural bias towards domestic producers before outsourcing in my opinion especially in areas of security.

In Italy, if you say you stay in a particular address then the Italian community police will come and verify your claim before anything can be process.
Using address for receiving posts is not a problem but an International Passport is a NO.
Face me, I face house electricity bills comes only on the landlord's name.
In USA I dont think they have police verify that. I think that's automated really. It's s weird for landlords name to be on bill. It should be naturally be tenants nots landlords bill. Im sure that can be switched.

Drivers licenses should be enough since that has an address proving you're a resident. Thanks for informing me some of your issues with mailing though.

How are they going to share the name of electricity bill of Face2face house?
Yes, Nigeria should do something about Nipost by making the real deal.
But until then, I'm against post passport to address in Nigeria
I dont understand first question. What do you mean by real deal. They already move millions of packages. Passports already have all sorts of security features like biometric and NIN attached. Your drivers license has your address on it. What else do you want?

It seems alot of you guys are scared to progress. Are you affraid of government mailing your documents in general?

Mail passport in Nigeria?
We don't even have database and how will you prove that address?
You dont have to prove your you live at paticular adddress to have passport mailed. Second you can prove you live at certain address by bringing in utility bill aka electricity. Lastly Nigeria already delivers 20 million pieces of mail. Why shouldnt the government be patronizing NIPOST are do you prefer going in twice for you stuff?

PoliticsRe: FG Cancels ALL Foreign Printing Contracts For Nigerian Passports by Blue3k(m):
Im guessing Nigeria might be sued for breach of contract. I'm cool with them producing passports domestically as long they dont start telling us scarcity or some other dumb excuses. Lastly passports should be mailed after payment. They do it UK and US Nigeria shouldn't be exception.

Nigerian passport leaflets has a lot of tribal representation on it from Eyo festivals, fulanis, pottery, Igbos dancing, Yoruba dancers and a host of other images.
Nairaland conspiracy theorists are something else. All he's telling everyone is he doesn't own a passport. If he did these facts would be known. Some people take internet jokes too seriously then you see result.

Pure water sellers etc pay levies not taxes. The SW mostly get their taxes through PAYE.If all non- Yorubas in the SW are adequately taxed, the SW will be stupendously richer than all African countries.
I went to Oshogbo last week and spent 3 days and I was greatly impressed of the great positive turn around Aregbesola gave that now lovely city.
I think Lagos state and co should learn from Aregbesola.Osun state is indebted but we can see ( I saw these by touring Osun state) the massive positive turn around.Lagos is the most indebted state in Nigeria but has little or nothing to show for it.I pity my Lagos.
Igbosmoker:
south west governors are heavily taxing the people in their region even pure water sellers aren't left out.

My question is, where is the money generated by the government?
Nobody is heavily taxed in Nigeria on state level in my opinion. I think 5-10% tax to GDP ratio adequate for most service delivery. The debt to GDP ratio alright but debt to revenue is inadequate. States spend too much on debt servicing. States should cut waste, expand tax base and use funds well it's simple.

Have you got good roads for transportation? What is your transport network like? Is it safe to do so?

Are you saying that you are not aware of your meat being transported on push trucks to the markets? Don't you see butchers chasing away flies on the butcher blocks? Are you also aware of what some herdsmen do to the cows before transporting them? How would you know? undecided
Dont those same people transport and receive goods on the same roads everyday? Why should beef be different? What makes road unsafe to transport food suddenly?

Why cant they adapt business model? Why aren't the regulatory agencies working on said issues you mentioned? Would NLTP solve issues you mentioned?

Who is going to be transporting your beef from Sambisa Forest? cheesy
You never heard of refigerated trucks? How do Americans export beef to other countries. The price will go up but thats just business.

OLAADEGBU:
Will you want to know what has happened to your beef before it gets to you, do you care how it is being transported or what quality of beef you are buying? undecided
There's no state and federal regulations on food quality? What are these agencies paid for?

igbodefender:
Ganduje's Falgore solution remains the best option.
It's is but just keep in mind Nigeria will never be "self sufficient" in beef. The reason being available land, population boom and income growth. Nigerian don't consume much meat of beef to begin with. The government has to remove beef import ban inevitably. Importing is long term solution just have reasonable tarrif.

It would also take 20% of available land to house 20 million cattle. With SE saying they're out it going to be concentrated mainly north assuming other southern states reject National Livestick Transformation Plan (NLTP). I know stated is to stop clashes but its odd few mention importing.
PoliticsRe: National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) = RUGA 2.0. by Blue3k(m):
Update: South East governors restated their position that they have not and do not intend to donate lands for the creation of Ruga settlements or implementation of the National Livestick Transformation Plan (NLTP).

I knew the answer would be no from them. It's easy to give support in boardrooms but donating land much different. They even went so far as to ban herding on foot. I don't know if this a litmus test for rest of states who were initially against ruga. I do think they'll say no again.
PoliticsRe: South-East Governors Ban Movement Of Cattle Into Region By Foot by Blue3k(m): 1:12pm On Jul 10, 2019
The cost of business just rose for the herdsmen and cost beef for consumers. They should go invest in refrigerated trucks to sell beef. Its Weird it took them so long after Benue and Taraba both banned it completely.

Here's doomsday scenario you guys would love. If you really want to put herders out if business or force them to adapt you need 2 prong approach. Its only possible through legislation.

1. Introduce completion by allowing beef imports.

2. Raise cost of business by banning open grazing and herding. Enforcement is the issue but the simple fix for them is refrigerated trucks. Thats how everyone else gets beef in world.

3. Do your boycott. The main meat consumption markets are in south. Reason being production low and demand high.
PoliticsRe: Boycott Fulani Cow Meet For The Sake Of Your Children Unborn by Blue3k(m): 2:45pm On Jul 08, 2019
It's funny alot African countries consume more beef and meat in general on average without the drama. Demand for meat can literally double then what? Nigeria has to import even they you put 10-15% tareif so what.

You guys can look up the charts.
PoliticsRe: Boycott Fulani Cow Meet For The Sake Of Your Children Unborn by Blue3k(m):
Common sense should tell y'all to lobby your politicians to unban beef and pork imports first. Then you guys can successfully boycott their products. There's alternative producers but that's a low supply. It would just be easier to eat other meats like chicken, pork and maybe goats.

I've come to the conclusion its bound to happen since Nigeria can never be "self sufficient" in beef. The population is booming abd wealth will just keep increasing. Both these factors mean denabd for meat in general will grow. We wont have land to keep up production logically.

wizzyrich:
How can we differential a Fulani meat and the one from other regions in the market ?
Lol question of the day. They must be gettting their beef from grocery store with labels.

PoliticsRe: Would Lifting The Ban On Beef Imports End Fulani Pastoral Farming? by Blue3k(m): 2:14pm On Jul 07, 2019
Coming to bump thread yet again. It seem the proposal is an inevitable no matter how it's sliced and diced. The Nigerian population is growing rapidly and as wealth grows demand spikes. Nigeria currently needs 20% of the land dedicated to beef production. This means we'll never be "self sufficient" in this beef.

Right now nigeria consumes less beef on average that most African countries. The stats will get worse looking at milk production. Nigeria will be decent producers and high importer.

“Any governor that does not want Ruga settlement in his state is a lover of crises and doesn’t want farmers/herders clashes to end in Nigeria, instead he likes it to continue in order to be collecting security votes from FG.

“We are suggesting for Federal Government to penalise any governor who is not ready for the Ruga project in his state,” he stated.
Their entitlement mentality is disgusting. State governments aren't under any obligation to give land or any tax incentives. I wish the FG just removed the import ban on beef and pork maybe you weirdos would stop the drama.

One thing I dont understand about ruga supporters is why they're so concerned about states who dont want it. You should be elated that that there's less competition for these jobs and tax revenue. Just focus on housing them and getting refrigerated trucks to transport the beef.
