ChybuzzDD: Why's he 'the foolish one'?
I hope you have never paid for blood or made arrangements regarding that for any of your relatives in Nigeria?
If you have ever done that(i know Nigerians hate donating blood and prefer buying), you've committed the same 'offence', and are equally foolish.
Ekweremadu and the doctor did what typical Nigerians routinely do in Nigeria when they need tissues, blood, organs, etc for their relatives. The only difference is the environment He's foolish because he went the UK to facilitate this illegal transaction landing himself in jail. If he went to Iran he wouldn't be in jail and his daughter could be helped. Lastly he was in office when the law you saw quoted was being debated and passed. He never publicly stated he wanted this organ transactions to be legal. This is what makes him foolish. Creeper: Lol, you might as well legalise cannibalism.
Are you Igbo? Lol You liken Iranians to cannibals because they're allowed to sell organs for medical purposes as apposed to donations? I do not get how adding a financial incentive makes it cannibalism/murder. If you find it morally wrong to sell that's fine though. No I'm not igbo. |

What you would need to compare is per 100k numbers to get apples to apples comparison. When Nigeria stops hiding it's crime stats we could have a real discussion.

grandstar: It would be a brilliant idea.
But the government should use it as a means to encourage medical tourism in Nigeria. Sale of kidneys could be leverage as a draw for many medical services
The necessary legislation would have to be created to make the market flourish and prevent abuse. It would definitely encourage tourism. I would like to see this market researched. I have a few questions regarding how many lives it saves and who's lives it saves. I would also like to know how those sets of rules change people's behavior compared to donation only system. From the looks of the comment section I don't think people would like it though. People sympathize with Ekeremadu's actions but don't want them to be legal for whatever reason. |

If they killed 100 and nothing happened, why will they not go another place and kill 200 Again why should the whole nation come to a standstill? You're avoiding the question. I didn't claim nobody cares or doesn't care. I already said the main issue is law enforcement. That's the main concern not a hyper fixation on benue or plateau. There's a crime wave in general if you're not blind to it. kingsways: • I expect thousands of Nigerians to volunteer and join the security agencies in the hunt for the killers • I expect all schools to close and remain so until the killers are found • I expect businesses to close • I expect public offices to close • I expect the whole country to come to a standstill; • I expect the whole country to focus on Plateau and Benue until these killers are apprehended and made to pay for their crimes |

I expect the whole country to focus on Plateau and Benue until these killers are apprehended and made to pay for their crimes You expect the whole country to stop watch benue and plateau because they don't have issues of their own? There are mass murders going on in other states with bandits, bokos haram, and "unknown" gunmen. Life won't stop because crime happens. What you should be worried about is how law enforcement is being handled. |
Politics › Re: How Is It That Over 100 Innocent Nigerians Are Killed And There Is No Outrage? by Blue3k(m): 12:44pm On May 18, 2023 |
there is absolutely no outrage anywhere, Nigerians are just going about their normal business as if everything normal It's simply a statistic when the numbers go up that high. If Nigeria published crime stats regularly, you'd see this is probably the general trend. There's an obvious reason most states and federal government don't publish their crime stats.

KingPure: I am really finding it hard to come to terms with your logic. So, you're invariably saying that people should commit crime in another State should be granted safe-landing by their 'Own' States. This is grossly deficient in content when you put to context the situation of Nigeria. People just copy almost everything hook, line, and sinker from everywhere outside Nigeria and think same will reciprocate in results and outcomes, forgetting the peculiarities of Nigeria as a deeply-rooted ethno-centric society. I'm waiting for when a Sokoto beggar (with children) sentenced by a Lagos State Court for 6months in a correctional centre would not be granted FULL pardon as soon as she's deported to Sokoto. Somethings can't just work in Nigeria. Begging remains legal and scripturally backed up up North, but Lagos State sees same as an offence when done carrying child(ren) even though the proceeds of the act was going to be used for the child/children upkeep. Here's another example do you think Southern states are going to enforce Sharia judgments for Sharia states? This will be especially interesting with death sentences or life in prison. Lol this why I said the burden of enforcing laws will be on those states. |

oz4real83: have u ever checked the revenue sharing formula? Why is there so much power and resources at the centre? The resources are so much that a person can afford to steal one hundred billion naira which is more than the budget of some states in Nigeria. The level of mismanagement and thievery at the centre is too much, the federal govt is transferring their responsibilities to states because it feels it has less resources, which is obviously false. I have looked at the formula and acknowledged taxing powers. The states ratified the constitutional amendment so why complain now? Who's responsibility should it be to house prisoners? It doesn't make sense to have state laws, courts, and prosecutors, but not state prisons (or police). I don't get why you believe the cost of housing state law offenders should be shared with the whole nation. |

oz4real83: A federal govt that is always unwilling to share powers and collects revenues that states are supposed to be collecting, but still wants to transfer its constitutional responsibilities to states, is that not wickedness How is it wickedness if prisons are in the concurrent list and 90% of inmates are state law offenders? If you want states to have more taxing powers that fair. |

“It is also hoped that State Governments will take advantage of the constitution amendment recently signed by President Muhammadu Buhari which makes corrections a concurrent affair. It is on record that more than 90 per cent of inmates in our facilities are state offenders. Lol why hope when you can force the issue? Just stop accepting state law offenders after a certain date. If they don't care to after that charge them double the normal rate or simply let the consequences if their actions catch up with them. |

FreeStuffsNG: The states are actually in a better position to feed the prisoners. When this happens, non indigenes who commit crimes in other states can be convicted and deportedly shipped to their own states to serve their sentences. You can not abandon your job as parents and think other states should keep feeding your wayward children by other states. Lol, you guys have weird ideas about government and family. The government isn't your family or owners. It's going to be up to the states to pay and enforce their laws. Other states aren't going to shoulder the financial burden. I'd be surprised if you'd get a state willing to do it. It's going to be same regarding warrants. If a person has a warrant in Kano State for Tickets. Do you think Delta going to should the cost of transferring that individual. If Kano doesn't collect its not their problem. |

lhordspy: Same with the NBC. What the court is trying to say is before the NBC can sanction, they have to seek the court. Instead of the erring media houses taking the matter to court after the sanction is placed on them
Do you get it now? I still don't agree but we'll see if the appeal court sees it your way. The judge said they tried to play judge jury and executioner. This is what he probably means by imposing fines without recourse to law. He said the court would not sit idle and watch a body arbitrarily imposing a fine without recourse to the law.
He said that the commission did not comply with the law when it sat as a complainant and at the same time, the court and the judge on its own matter. |

Do Sharia states have less traffic incidents on average 🤔? If Sharia works so well there should be evidence showing it those states. How many traffic incidents are even handled by Sharia court? Why can't the state introduce stiffer penalties without sharia law? What's the logic behind this request? “If stiffer penalties are being attached to road traffic crash offenders, it will go a long way to help us stem all drivers and other road users and make them drive carefully to avoid crashes,” Abdullahi said. |
Politics › Re: Court Invalidates NBC's powers to Impose Sanctions, Fines On Broadcast Stations by Blue3k(m): 2:36pm On May 12, 2023 |
lhordspy: Maybe i am This doesnt make sense. NBC is a regulating commission/body, it should have power to be able to sanction erring broadcasting organisation without having to rely on the judiciary.
Instead it is the broadcasting organisation that should file a case at the court if they are not satisfy with the sanctions impose on them.
It is more like telling LASTMA, ROAD SAFETY or other precautionary and regulating agency to seek court intervention before impounding your vehicle for going against the law or NCC trying to seek court intervention before imposing sanctions on erring network providers. These are regulatory bodies, it is one of their main responsibility taken away from them while rendering them incapacitated.
Court process takes too long. We all know NBC is the only thing holding this mischievous and overly sentimental media houses by the balls and checkmating their excesses. If not, journalism would have been an insane crazy affair in this country. It should be the other way round. Anyone who is not satisfy with the sanctions should go to court not the regulatory body seeking court intervention and interpretation before imposing sanctions. I disagree because if a policeman gives you a ticket you still get your day in court to argue. The agency just like the police aren't judge jury and executioner. Read your ticket its not an admission of guilt when you sign one. It's just a promise you'll show up to court. If you choose to pay it without arguing your lack of guilt that's your business. |

I don't disagree with you. Most private sector employers pay their workers on time in full every pay period. It's nothing special or complicated. I think Nigeria should criminalise delay in payment of salaries. Any state that does not pay on the agreed date should have its governor lose his or her immunity.
