Thanks so much, I have tried to get closer to her on so many occasions, but it feels totally strange. Different people react differently to situations. Whatever she feels IMO, her mother is still her mother regardless of how imperfect she was. She gave birth to her(risking her life) and nurtured her for some time. While its okay not to be fully open but basic courtesy is okay IMO

Something ceremonial like sitting at a wedding is not a big deal for me but doing it to spite your mom/dad is not what I will do. There are people whose father/mother walked away and they remained cordial if not friendly.

Well, sayings like "her mother is still her mother regardless of how imperfect she was" seem like a get-away card that always enabled irresponsible and deadbeat parents to face little or no consequences for their actions & inactions.

I think a child's emotions are very valid when parents failed to provide parental care , guidance and protection while growing up.

Do you know what it means for a female child to be taught sexual education by her father in place of her absentee mother ? I mean the Child's first menstrual period is explained to her by her father instead of the mother performing that motherly role. Some of the things girls learn from their mother, she has to learn by either interracting with her friends or asking her father out of curiousity.

I think being a father or mother goes beyond just birthing a child.

I know life happens and a family may disintegrate leading to both parents going their separate ways; but allowing a child to miss parental care from either or both parents definitely should have consequence for such parents.

I think the man actually did hurt the lady by his actions and inactions; so her anger at him is very valid. I also think maybe she shouldn't have invited the father in the first place .

My mum has a friend whose mother abandoned her with the father while she was few months old. The mother just walked out of the marriage leaving the father to cater for the child with the help of his aged mother. According to my mum, that her friend grew up knowing just her father. The father tried as best as he could to fill the void left by the mother. The mother got married to another man and started another family while the father remained single till the lady was out of secondary school.(The man feels if he marries another wife while the daugther was still young, she will be maltreated by the new wife)

When it was time for the daughter to get married, she insisted she doesn't want her mum at her wedding . Her groom is from a very strong Christian family, so the groom's family started preaching about forgiveness, reconciliation ....blah blah.....She insisted she doesn't want the woman at her wedding. Then people started talking about dangers of going into marriage without her mother's blessing and all.

Las Las, na the father's sister sit in place of the mother and the marriage was fruitful (They had 3 boys). Tho she later reconciled with the woman years later, but according to my mum anytime she sends the woman money she dey always let her bear that guilt. She lets her know she doesn't deserve anything she does for her as a daughter.

I never intended that you ask for flight ticket hoha. There are ways of coding things and raising money to get where you want to go. In my case, my grandmother has a school that my uncle and cousin could have made the request from, and that's the entity that ended up funding her flight ticket. The point was that most of the NYSC members are from poor families and their parents could not afford flight ticket. You suggested they seek help from family members who may have to fund ransom payment should they be kidnapped while travelling by road.

This my friend grew up in extreme poverty too but now doing very well in the US, the moment he got to US, he dedicated his earnings and life to bring up his siblings. Paid for abroad masters in Canada, bought cars for them, setup different businesses for them, Gave Proof of Fund to UK, Paid for multiple IVFs etc And today they do not speak to each other anymore, because they believed he could have done more.

His dad while they were growing up, married a new wife and the kids never forgave him, so when one of the sisters was getting married, she decided that her dad must not be the one to hand her over, she will rather it be her elder sisters husband, My friend didn't know about this, So on the day of the event, he was shocked to see their father sitting at the backrow at the entrance to the hall, while his brother in-law was sitting as the father of bride seat. My friend being the first son insisted that you cannot humiliate their dad like that regardless of his faults and that the father must sit in his rightful position. He confronted the brother inlaw that you too be man, what will you feel if your daughter does that to you. He got his way and the father sat as the father of the bride. The bride was on the stage, couldnt come down to dispute the changes, fumed all day and after the event laid severe curses on this my friend. That was what caused the family crisis

While the father may have been a dead-beat at some point after his second marriage , I fault the sister for trying to use her brother-in-law in place of her father on her wedding day .

I think the brother-in-law was fooolish to have ever considered the suggestion sef . If I was in his shoes , I would’ve decline the suggestion and would’ve left them to sort their family palava long before the day of wedding ceremony . I believe if he had done that , the lady would either have find ways to tolerate the man for that day or look for an elderly male relative that will stand in for the man .

I watched a video on TikTok in which a guy abroad was crashing out because of the audacity of his entitled relative. I can't remember if the relative was his brother or cousin, but it seems they are kinda close.

The relative who is resident here in Nigeria complained that since "wicked abroadian "relocated with his family, what he sends to him monthly as support has been nothing to write home about. He said while the guy was in Nigeria, he was giving him substantial sums monthly to help him sort his own financial issues, but what he sends now is worrisome.

He literally told the wicked abroadian that "If abroad no favour am, make he relocate back to Nigeria". . Na so "wicked abroadian" set ringlight begin crashout on social media about the audacity and entitlement mentality of his Nigerian relative. He acknowledged that when he was in Nigeria, he was actually very comfortable and could afford to throw cash around. But now that he has to pay bills upon bills abroad, he's not going to tolerate BS from any entitled relative that expects him to place their needs above his own nuclear family's needs..

The crazy thing about this white elephant project is that even people who are trained engineers but APC supporters thought there’s nothing wrong with Umahi not providing clarity on status of ESIA for the whole project .

They even insulted the AeiseTV reporter back then and classified her question about the ESIA as opposition journalism .

Today Umahi is telling us they found out issues with the soil structure of some parts of the coastal road’s original route .

It’s just a shame that even as the matter Dey like this , they will likely still attempt to do damage control trying to explain the mess up away

That I think is the major reason behind the coastal road.......Real Estate appreciation and development.
I recollect the beef between Tinubu and Sanwo early this year due to quick and unapproved estates/land approvals along that axis.
Eventually most approvals were recalled/suspended probably because they didn't go through the God father himself.

Umahi ain't resigning anything. This was always the likely outcome and partly planned from the start with a degree of certainty. Tinubu is the one who sells the vision, both Tinubu and Umahi know the feasibility is low. But it's easier to sell a coastal road that develops the whole South than tell people you want to develop Lagos and Ogun coast only. City boy is not just a name, Tinubu is Lagos centric.

You know the game . Some of their supporters who are smart know the game too, but dem no really care .

The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment report they eventually relased released 3 months ago for the Coastal project only covered 2 phases of the project ; Ahmadu bello way VI to Eleko (47.5km ) and Eleko to Ode-Omi; Lagos-Ogun boarder (55.5km).

Isn’t it strange that for a 700km project , they only released ESIA report for less than 15% of the project ?

These people knew what they were doing from onset , they only succeeded in making a foool out of their blind supporters and apologists . We go school and we can put 1 and 2 together .

Majority of manufacturers who have seen shege of the Nigerian system have decided to subcontract haulage/logistics to 3rd party logistics companies .

It depends on the Dangote arm of business u are talking about tho. I know quite a number of people who carry cement for Dangote Cement and they are independent logistics companies . There’s a reason why Dangote always issue disclaimer when they say “ Dangote truck kills 5 people at Obajana”.

What usually happens in that instant is that a certain “ Jesu Seun enterprise “ is carrying Dangote products out of Obajana cement plant , then the driver crushes a car and 2 bike men . While the truck may have Dangote logo attached , it’s not in the record of fleet of trucks belonging to Dangote logistics .

I agree with you that there’s a company called Dangote transport company, but they don’t even oversee half of trucks carting the Dangote logo .

No they don’t .

Most of the logistics companies get careful facilities from commercial banks , they do equity contribution to get the trucks .

I know quite a number of those logistics companies who got loans to get fleet of trucks . In such arrangements , the bank
Will mandate the promoters of the company to obtain comprehensive insurance for the truck (to cover their liability ) and register the trucks in the name of the logistics company/the bank financing the purchase .

The logistics companies service the loans till they pay down (both principal
Amount + interest ) then the truck finally belongs to the logistics company alone . Most times the facility may last as much as 4 years .

The logistics companies manage the truck drivers and don’t do subcontracting . How they are able to manage them with their excesses , I will never know

Human behaviour is unpredictable...... I just learnt the plane developed an engine fault enroute Benin on October 5th, was worked on and took to air on another flight to lagos following day and crashed mid air.

Time frame 48 hours.....

Most manufacturing conglomerates in Nigeria like Dangote , Nigerian breweries , Nestle , etc do not carry their products by themselves anymore ; instead they sign contracts with logistics companies like TSL logistics , BHN logistics , GPC energy and logistics ,etc .

The aforementioned logistics companies sign contracts with the manufacture companies undertaking to carry their products for them safely to the customer’s destination . By so doing , the risk that should be on the principal manufacturer is transferred to the logistics company .

It is the headache of the logistics company to hire drivers , ensure they have proper training , ensure they deliver the good to customers with little or no issues in the course of the carriage process . The principal like Dangote , Nestle , NB , NBC , etc have their own logistics department breath down heavily on the neck of the logistics company.

They ensure the logistics company has insurance for all goods carried on behalf of the principal and ensure that the carrier (logistics company ) settles liability to the principal’s customers first before any further story .

Unfortunately , a small logistics company may not be able to meet some of these conditions

The government has refunded the ransom paid by families of the kidnapped NYSC members “ allegedly “ .

One can see from the body language of the parents that a lot has happened behind the scenes . The man and his wife are reluctant to give straight answers obviously because the powers that be in government have gotten to them. I don’t blame them tho , this is Nigeria .
