Why are they stealing prepaid, these days?

Wetin Nigerians don discover inside, abeg?
I honestly don't know.

I know prepaid Meters are usually registered in the name of the occupants/landlord of a building/apartment. What I don't know is how they will change particulars of a prepaid meter they steal. I mean if they steal Mr. Ajanlekoko's prepaid meter, whoever they sell it to won't that person see that the meter is registered to Mr. Ajanlekoko when he tries to recharge it?

I really can't wrap my head around the idea behind stealing prepaid meter.

Fast forward to today, Pix of the same guy is posted on Twitter for allegedly stealing prepaid meter.

Pa Clark was a lawyer. He states facts only and what the court will be less likely to argue with

He also wants it to be clear to the court that he was constructively divorced having not done so legally, so no claim will bounce back on his estate from his estranged wives. So he has to be clear they were of no use to him in life.
But this thing is funny sha grin

Benefits would have accrued to the wives due to their marital association with him.

He has also done well by the wives by including their sons in the sharing of his estate.
Yeah. Any woman who lived with a billionaire for years and didn't do well for herself should have herself to blame.

It is fair as all their children are part of his inheritance and will sort their mumsies

In an ideal society, the financial compensation for ex-Wives are settled at the moment of divorce and there is no lingering obligation at death, but in the usual Naija way, I'm sure he just "sent them packing" but may have been giving them a subsistence up to the point of his death

The man even tried by Naija standards. One of our Patriarch, a monarch, also had 15 children but only 4 boys and willed everything to the boys, nothing for the girls
I agree with you 100%. I also don't think any of the wives would have any need for the billions in naira and properties the man left for the kids.

I want to believe none of his wives will be less than 75 - 80 years of age considering the man died at the ripe age of 97 last year. Any wife whose children will not take care of her from whatever inheritance they receive from their old man should check herself.

I however have a feeling that the woke people and all those feminazis in this generation may not be okay with the man's actions. They may tie it to the man being a chauvinist owing to how he initially sent the women packing having expressly stated "he found no use for them any longer" and how he eventually excluded them from his will beneficiaries.

Reading the Will titled “The Last Will and Testament of Chief (Dr.) Edwin Kiagbodo Clark” to family members in June 2025, M. A. Akujobi (Miss) of M. A. Akujobi & Co., Head of Chambers, Legal Practitioners, Effurun/Warri, Delta State, stated that Mrs. Elizabeth Kofo Clark, Mrs. Theresa Clark and Abisola Sodipo-Clark shall not be beneficiaries.

The reason, it is stated in the Will, is simply because they had been “constructively” divorced and did not live with him for a long time before his death – he had reportedly sent them away when he discovered that “they were no longer useful to him.”

It was also revealed that the late Clark appointed Dr. C. C. Clark, Mrs. Koshare Clark-Omoudoye, Prof. Victor Esekumemu Clark, and Barr. Andrew A. Bekederemo, all of the late Chief Bekederemo-Ogein family of Kiagbodo Town in the Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria, to be the Executors of the Will.

Their duties and assignments, according to the Will, shall be funded from and by the proceeds of his estate.

In the Will, it is stated that the beneficiaries shall be his 15 children.

The late Clark also directed that all his nephews and nieces, who are presently benefitting from him, either by way of funding their education, employment, or otherwise, will continue to enjoy such benefits from his estate, if they are still alive until they complete their tertiary education; and those in employment or any other position shall live on their own or those who have been removed due to dishonest practice or through reasons that may be given or decided by the Executors.

He directed that his “property, building and/or residence in Kiagbodo and/or every other building owned by him or identified by him and/or others to be his should be treated as a family house where all his children shall have access to and take abode whenever they visit Kiagbodo.”

However, he inserted a caveat to the effect that “a child who neglects, refuses, fails and or omits to visit Kiagbodo consecutively in three years will/shall forfeit his/her right to the benefits accruing and accruable to such a child from his estate/property wherever such property may be situate for a period of three years and/or until he/she fulfils my wish as above herein stated/directed, excepting such beneficiaries resident outside Nigeria.”

Do we say this is a fair and just will?

The man died at 97 years old, but he had since sent his 3 wives packing long before his demise. He claimed his wives were no longer useful to him in old age hence why he sent them packing. He claimed sending them packing constitutes a divorce and then proceeded to deny them any inheritance from his estate in his will.

He however made all their children beneficiaries of the will. Do we say the man doesn't really regard women by his actions or it was just of case of a man solely focusing on setting his children up for life having believed that his wives have enjoyed enough good life with him while he was alive?

Thanks man, went to the bank this morning...made complaint, the customer service person described the account that received the money as "okay" and active, and said the money was there.

A lien was placed on the account since Sunday, she said I should be calm and see what comes of the bank mediation and once the owner gives consent, the funds will be reversed, so finger crossed. She said this is better than a court order which would be a long process..but eitherway she said I'd get the money.
Okay, this is good.

I bin get this small arguement with person yesterday. Accountants and finance people, abeg make una clear me.

Hypothetical figures.

A person applies for N100,000 loan at 5% annual interest. The 5% interest of N5,000 is deducted upfront, and N95,000 is credited to the person's account. The loanee is to pay back N100,000 instead of N95,000 with monthly repayment of N10,000 for 10 month.

Doesn't paying back N100,000 instead of N95,000 amount to an interest rate of 10% since the interest was deducted upfront and only 95,000 was disbursed?

Cc: Ibime. BlueRayDick and other finance people in the house
Somehow I misread this part earlier.

If they gave him 95k and expected him to pay back 100k plus the 5k they deducted, they are in the right then.

Normally he should repay 105k if they had given him the full 100k he applied for. So the maths is right.

It turned to a VDM matter. Then, it turned to a VDM vs Phyna matter.

If you use SM to bring something to limelight, take advantage of the proper channels to get justice. Na why I like Scott Iguma. He drags you on SM, and he has lawyers to use the appropriate measures of the law to follow up.

That accident was a good way not just to get compensation, but also to correct a lot of wrongs on road safety. We only know the driver hit the bike. Was the driver licensed to drive? Was the road worthy? The case would have held some people accountable to their jobs.

I don't see much happening. Dangote will give a payout. If una drag am, it doesn't change anything. His fuel and Cement is still what we cannot do without.

If you drag him too much, they will pay influencers to also show that the bike rider was at fault.

With the emboldened, you're saying the loan structure is 10% interest and not 5% right?
I am saying you should speak to the people in charge of the loan and ask them why the full loan sum applied for was not disbursed since you will pay back the full loan sum + interest.

Maybe it was a mistake, maybe they will credit you back the additional 5k or if there's any explanation we don't know of behind the whole thing.

The emboldened assumption is incorrect sir, Also, the figure is hypothetical, there is no insurance fee and the loan is being requested from the ASUU Cooperative of my institution, not a bank. I can categorically say, there is no insurance fee and no risk of non,-repayment, as the loan will be deducted from source, along eith other statutory deductions and the loanee will only receive the balance as salary.

Pls just speak to the maths. I only want to know if the money to be disbursed and the computed repayment plan is actually 10% interest, instead of 5%.
Well, you didn't state it was a cooperative loan and made me assume u were talking about loan from all these micro credit fintechs/ banks mini loan apps.

Well, I don't know much about the terms and conditions of cooperative loans. I know about company's loans to staff and I know those loans don't carry any hidden charges. What you apply for is what you get and what you will return in due time is loan + Interest

Maybe u should engage Ur cooperative members further on the terms of the loan.

Something tells me the intial 5k they deducted wasn't even interest. It may be insurance fee which is fixed at 1% of the loan sum or 5k flat (whichever is greater)

To the best of my knowledge, most loans banks give out are always insured. Most loans have default risk which the customers are compelled to get insurance on it. Because this small loans of 100k, 200k, 500k, etc are small in nature and asking customers to go apply for insurance on it may turn the customers off; what banks do is build the insurance cost into the terms and conditions ( those long gibberish you skip on the loan app and click " I agree"wink

Now having agreed to the terms and conditions, they will automatically debit you for the insurance cost then send you the remaining funds. If it were to be a corporate loanwith physical relationship managers and you dropped a collateral security like C of O of Ur building , these things will be explained to you.

It was just a bad mistake, the person sent name and account, wasn't careful enough.

I don't mind following through the process, and waiting...it's just that 20% upfront payment thing that bugs me...would explore the bank mediation route first and if that doesn't work would consider the court order.

Saw a Facebook profile that matches the three names on the account...last activity on the FB account was 2017 and the person has just 58 friends on the account.
If you know someone(on a personal level) in the recepient bank who has access, u can reason with him. Explain what happened to him and give him the name of that person who received the account. He will help u look at his biodata and spool his phone number out.

Call the guy on his personal phone number and.talk to him about the money you sent to his account. Normally the person would freak out and start wondering how you got his number by mere transfer to his account.

PS: Never ever reveal how you got his number to him else you will land the bank guy who helped you in serious gbege.

Use street reason him and tell him you have your ways and means of getting things down. Let him know the option he has is to give his bank instruction to reverse Ur money or what might come after may affect his entire bank accounts and not just this particular bank account.

If this doesn't work, then you don't have a choice but to go through the official channels of soughting out a court order.

You have already hit the nail on head that with the e-Naira the government was only trying to do what traditional bank accounts and fintechs are already doing via transfer of value from one person to another in the financial system. Walking in most parts of Lagos is a hazard. The roads are not constructed with pedestrians in mind so there are a lot of powers and principalities to battle from Keke Marwa to Okada to cars. Then you add the heat, humidity, dust. open gutters to fall into etc.

Where I am I can walk continuously for several hours on pedestrian walkways only occasionally using road intersections with traffic lights. The weather is also generally more conducive for walking.
Okada riders will ride on the same sidewalk pedestrian are expected to use just to beat traffic.

Road side hawkers in places like Ikeja, Eko Idumota, Oshodi, Iyana Iba, etc will take a side of the road where pedestrian are supposed to pass and they will turn it to their shop. If u do mistake step on their wares while u are trying to avoid those mini bus or keke from running you over, the traders will cuss u and sometimes lock your cloth in a bid to force u buy that item.
