Funny enough, I've had decent luck with their superiors anytime I find myself at a station.

One time they stopped me for making a u turn where I shouldn't have made it. They started requesting for a ridiculous amount of money and I refused.

They made me drive to the station and collected my keys. I requested to see the area commandant from the front desk and I was directed to his office. I explained myself to him and told him I didn't see the no u turn sign as I wasn't familiar with the road.

The man told me to get the police officers who brought me and ordered them to release my car keys. I didn't give them one naira.

And I've had similar experiences like that.

You should change ur name to lucky . Nobody will allow u see area commander in Lagos after u committed a traffic offence and they successfully drove u down to station .

It will never happen in Lagos . As ur car enter the police compound , they will deflate all ur 4 tyres and u will have to pay their Vulcanizer ridiculous amount to pump it when u “settle “ with the arresting officers later .

When my wife lost her phone, those thieves collected 5k just for reporting it to them. No actual report was issued.

I'm just wondering, did you guys have to actually declare the true value? I mean, you could have told the police the value was 1m.

The CSO told me the initial statement he submitted , they refused to issue a police report based on it because they insisted he must state the value of the items . When he eventually stated the value , then the haggling began before they arrived at that 700k from the initial 10% they demanded .

Nigeria police mad gan , the superiors are more corrupt than the junior officers . That’s why a normal police stop and search team prefer u stripe them on the road before they carry u go station where senior officers will share in the largesse

Nobody will give u police report for free in Nigeria ; quote me anywhere . I’ve reported a burglary incident before few years ago when I lost a laptop and an iPhone .

I had to pay for the police crime diary extract ( which is even a temporary version of police report ). Police report wey DPO go sign , u will drop good money based on ur negotiation skill and maybe if u are familiar with one or two officers in the station.

Just pray make u no need the attention/service of Nigeria Police , nothing they ever do for u is free .

it seems that the case there, a very big deal was invloved hence the 700k, or maybe they didnt bargain well or look elsewhere or maybe just maybe,the errand runner front ran everyone and inflated the price for his own selfish gain

It actually involved a theft of products valued around N80m(when converted to naira ) . The police were demanding 10% of the value at loss to issue police report over a crime they didn’t even solve 🤦‍♂️.( Simply because they know the police report will help recover a seizable amount lost from insurers )

The CSO being an ex officer was able to prevail on them to take 700k instead .

E get some things wey some of us have seen that make us not even believe in the system at all.

I don’t understand why anybody would have a problem with what she said in this video .

We’ve seen video of Nigerian police officers disgracefully asking a foreign tourist on powerbike for money .

The person I report to directly at work is a foreigner who isn’t based in Nigeria. I’ve had to explain to him how it is impossible to get a police report issued to u without paying the Nigerian police for it. He finds it hard to believe because of how things run where he’s domiciled , but that’s our reality in Nigeria .

There was a police report we got that was signed by one popular senior woman police officer , I learnt we paid 700k for it. When I see some of those useless police PRO spewing nonsense online , I just shake my head knowing they are as corrupt as the regular corporal and sergeant standing at road blocks .

You see the bold, I used to think that is the situation of things; that all these division only happens online and don't exist in reality. But the intrigues of the 2023 election made me have a rethink.

I remember putting DonJ down countless times when he gets overtly emotional and talks about these things are happening in real life. But when that stupiid Gawat boy went to the street and started carrying placard bringing the online rhetorics to the streets, I just gave up. When u read some of the things those young guys put online, u just have a feeling that no lesson has been learnt from history. It just appears as though they are yearning for a civil war that will do nobody any good.

I grew up in an area where Yoruba , Benin, Igbo, , Urhobo,etc people send their kids to the Igbo guy who sells raw rice, beans, garri,etc to take the items on credit and promise to pay when their husband returns from work in the evening so their kids can eat in the afternoon. Like people on the streets relate with each other without placing much emphasis on each other's tribes, but how they can help each other to cover each other's flanks.

My father's elder brother (who is an alhaji) had an Igbo tenant who didn't pay house rent for almost 3 years because he had issues at his work place and had to be appearing in court. The man never harassed the tenant and allowed him sort himself out. The tenant won the case, got compensated, cleared his rent arrears and within months was able to complete the small house he was developing. Till today the tenant always shows up for Alhaji anytime he has a party/celebration.

When I see people doing bigotry online, sometimes I wonder if they carry that same energy offline and cut off their neighbors who are from other tribes. I wonder if they cuss their bosses who are from other tribes and I wonder if they refuse to work in companies owned by people from other tribes
