GloriousGbola: ![]() Nigerians no get chills at all. It was just like when Fashola was busy planting flowers everywhere; bar people living in places like Magodo, Ogudu, GRA Ikeja, Lekki/VI/Island axis, most people didn't really care about any yeye flower. |
izzou:Maybe if Ambode had avoided political problems, he would've been judged fairly. Back then the visionscape idea looked really bad and the implementation made his administration looked so poor. Looking back now , he seem to have a very good initiative but messed up its implementation. That time they will just put one giant Visionscape dump in a central location and before day break the dump will be overflowing with refuse ![]() All those LAWMA people he was trying to run down worked in conjunction with area boys to frustrate whatever good he had intentions of doing with that Visionscape . They delibrately dumped refuse on major roads and public places. If Visionscape packs the refuse this morning, before evening the whole area will be littered with another heap of refuse . That killed whatever goodwill he had with the people |
izzou:That place was built like a complete processing plant. I think they do recycling there(Tho I'm not so sure) |
airmark:Lolz. ![]() Do u know that there are lands in the Epe corridor that are strictly reserved to be for Agricultural usage? Those lands are expected to be used for farm settlement, anybody that acquires such land and develops a residential or commercial premises there will be running foul of the law. What I'm suggesting is that such prohibition should be for lands close to the proposed refuse dump site. This is to prevent spread of diseases in the future . That way , nobody should buy land close to the dump site |
swiz123:I dey pay LAWMA bill steady na. I believe the cost will be spread on all consumers and not me alone, so we will all pay the cost incured ![]() |
izzou:I think u are right, I just remember I usually see LAWMA truck around that side; as if u want to follow Adeniji go link that Oba palace side. |
swiz123:Ogun state has so many undeveloped green areas that may not even get developed in decades to come. If the money is right, they will take it and use the money for other developmental projects in the heart of Ogun state. Nothing wey money no fit do na. |
GloriousGbola:As funny as this sounds, they still do it till date especially when it's raining. |
GloriousGbola:I support this! The only government need to do is just ensure it is gazetted that developing residential or commercial premises close to that site is forbidden. So, in the future no matter the amount of development that happens along that corridor, nobody should build residential premises there. That way, any future outbreak of airborne diseases has been avoided |
Until we adopt a culture of naming & shaming government officials responsible for issuing the contracts and contractors responsible for abandoning the projects, nothing will change as far as abandoned project is concerned in this country. I remember how a senior colleague used to lament about the road projects and flyovers abandoned by Amosun in Ogun state. Today Amosun is a senator representing the same state he left so many abandoned project in the senate. In a sane country someone like Amosun should never be allowed near public office again. |
swiz123:Lagos has 5 divisions ; IBILE(Ikorodu , Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Epe). They can site dumps in all 5 divisions by choosing a location that is yet to be developed and then forbid development of residential properties in those choice locations. At least I know this is achievable for Badagry, Epe and Ikorodu. There are places not yet developed in those areas. As for Lagos Island, the whole division is not that big , they can use the same dump site as Epe division. As for Ikeja Division which consists of Agege, Ifako-Ijaiye, Kosofe, Mushin, Alimosho, Oshodi-Isolo, Somolu and Ikeja LGA's , I honestly don't know of any non-residential area/undeveloped area they can site the dump sha Maybe Lagos state government can buy acres of land from Ogun state and site the dump around all those Ota, Atan side sha |
GloriousGbola:That one there's nothing u can do about it o. Which LASTMA official go arrest truck owned by a ranking party member ? When be say na party member help u get ur LASTMA job ![]() |
izzou:You really know the place. Flooding is another major issue on that axis when it rains, the drainages along that axis are blocked. |
swiz123:The LAWMA/PSP is a very good initiative and Lagos state government deserves kudos for it. They are not perfect but can be better. I only have two issues with them: 1. The need for them to site their dumps in non-residential areas where people are not at risk of any air-borne or communicable diseases 2. The need for them to remove large dump containers in public places like markets during the day. I mean the dump containers can be evacuated in the night before day breaks and starts being an eyesore. As for the free of charge waste disposal wey u dey enjoy ehn, by the time they bring bill for ur building u go know say there's no free lunch anywhere ![]() |
iamoyindamola:The way EFCC epp them write the shalaye sef |
swiz123:Na this one u see? Let me shock u. There's a place along Lasu-Isheri expressway called Lanre Bus stop. While we were much younger, there used to be an amusement park at that bus stop called Rosellas Amusement park where parents take their kids for swimming, relaxation and to see Father Christmas during December period. Suddenly a refuse dump surfaced on the other side of the road in that same bus stop and over time the refuse dump was converted to a big dump site where LAWMA go to empty all refuse trucks from Alimosho LGA, Ejigbo, Isolo, Ojo & Environs. This singular act killed the business of that amusement park within a very short period. Till date that place smells like hell. Funny thing is all the lands in that area has been developed into full residential buildings. In fact Alimosho General hopsital is very close that dump site. If u are driving along that road now, u will see LAWMA trucks parked along the road waiting for their turn to empty their trucks. I remember being in a bus around 2011 and one student dropped at the bus stop. Before the lady dropped, her friends trolled her Yoruba saying" So u live at Lanre bus stop? No wonder u are fat " ![]() When people talk about "Lagos Master Plan" , I just laugh at their faces because it is funny as hell to me knowing what I know about some of these things. I mean in what master plan will there be a refuse dump in a fully residential area. In what master plan will there be a government owned general hospital located few meters away from a dump where the offensive odour can even affect the health of patients in the facility? |
https://x.com/instablog9ja/status/1856101006678819278?s=46 EFCC went after Bobrisky and Cubana chief priest for spraying and abusing the Naira . Ballzproblem2:Naso ![]() |
Itsrm:I know , I was still in PH recently . I was only giving an example in my original post that people can complain about their state focusing on what thing they don’t like about it and it’s not really a big deal. An it’s not worth something one should lose job over . Na ballzproblem know where he see agenda |
Ballzproblem2:Which agenda is that ? Do u even know how many times Rivers state made the news in past about how soot from Kpofire polluted the air few years back ? https://www.nairaland.com/6927499/black-soot-situation-ph https://www.nairaland.com/6938740/root-cause-soot-rivers-state Click the links and see for urself . |

GloriousGbola:You see what I was saying . How will anybody look at this her tweet and suddenly assume she was saying this to denigrate Lagos ? Anybody that lives in Lagos and has been to other states will agree with her if we are being truthful and not looking at things with any political lens. How can a sane human being just start tagging Lagos state government and every tag able person to this tweet ? |
iamoyindamola:For humans , there’s little or nothing u can do about that o especially if it’s a public space or bus .Deodorant being expensive even makes it easy for people to have excuse |
GloriousGbola:As in.... I'm shook I was trying to even see if there's a context to it; maybe the lady was arguing tribal stuff with the other guy and then makes the "Lagos is smelly " post in response. I have however been able to see any post suggesting that. I mean why did that guy just decide to put her on the spot and start tagging everybody to her post like she set out to denigrate Lagos state government or something ? Does that not qualify for cyberbullying ? |
Nowadays I’m beginning to think maybe some people are paid to hate or to create narratives of hates around people on twitter just to distract others from even having time to hold government accountable? 🤦♂️ The level of bile people are willing to throw at other people over their personal opinion that doesn’t agree with theirs is just crazy mehn! From what I’ve seen thus far, this lady made a very harmless post complaining about Lagos being smelly ( which is a fact for anybody who has breathed-in air in Lagos and other states ) , but someone is tagging Lagos state government(her employers ) and calling for her sack . I mean I’ve been to Rivers state and I can decide to rant about how air in PH is heavy with soot and all. Should that suddenly be a reason for one to get sacked ? 🤷♂️ It’s only hate that will make you to start calling for the sack of someone over their personal opinion that is true . I mean if u go to Idumota between 5am to 7am, u will literally meet a dung hill of refuse by the foot of the bridge smelling very early in the morning . Is it now a sin to say things the way they are ? Now she's getting scary calls over an innocent opinion she shared on her page

Theflint1:I always shake my head when I go on twitter see all those blue tick influencers (i.e those based abroad and the few based in Nigeria but political aides) gaslighting people in this hard times. Some of them will even claim that hardship has always been in Nigeria and there willl always be hardship in the country . They feel the moment u point out how hard things are, u are doing it from the place of "hate" for their principal and not because things are hard for us all generally. |
iamoyindamola:Thanks |
iamoyindamola:That's naija for u now. Even Tinubu his principal knows the truth, when he was listing his administration's so called achievement, nowhere did he mention anything about improved electricity supply cos he knows where he met things and where things are currently. As in, Tinubu listed 29 key policies/achievements and nowhere did he mention improved power supply. |
iamoyindamola:That one no download at all; the link kept failing at the point of download |
iamoyindamola:Maybe my bias against all those sci-fi made me lose interest in that Citadel Diana sha. All those shiiit about "earth of the future" just not my thing |
