afrodoc2:I share this sentiment too. We have adults that are not even accounted for, people living under bridges. I doubt there's any bridge in this Lagos that doesn't have people who live either on them or under them. I remember few years back Saturday Tribune newspapers did an editorial on the thriving business of "Lagos bridge landlords" . One of their reporters did an undercover job by mixing with normal area boys to get a look into the lives of those who sleep under bridge. From the undercover job which spanned few days at different locations ranging from Oshodi bridge to Obalende bridge to Apongbon bridge; the reporter found out that hundreds of homeless people pay to pass the night under Lagos bridges. He noted that all the agbero guys have shared the "landlordhip" of those bridges in their areas amongst themselves. They have appointed collectors who go around very late in the night to collect rent from every occupant of the bridge. If u no pay, no sleep for u . Some of the collectors in some areas even issue ID cards to the regular tenants. When they go checking at night, once u can't produce ur ID they will know u are a newbie and u will be required to pay initial rent and ur ID will be issued few days after. Imagine the number of bridges in Lagos and the number of homeless people sleeping on them without being accounted for in our system . |
raumdeuter:Religion and polygamy will definitely ensure population grows in places like Borno , Kebbi and Co. As far as terrorism is concerned , people die in their thousands and not millions . I am more inclined to believe our population has continued to increase if we look at how our resources are no longer enough to cater for our ever growing population . It seems you underrrate the ability for us as Nigerians to procreate . |
raumdeuter:Maybe we are not up to 200m but I am inclined to believe the Nigerian population is closer to 200m than to 100m . I was having a discussion with someone recently and he’s saying he doubts Alimosho is the most populous LGA in Lagos . He said he’s forced to believe Ikorodu is more populated considering the landmass and people have been moving there in recent years . I simply told him it’s because he’s looking at things the wrong way and doesn’t even understand how densely populated Alimosho is. From Dopemu down to Egbeda, Shasha, Orisunbare at all Alimosho. Egbeda down to Ikotun, Egbe , Liasu and Idimu are all Alimosho . All those Ipaja , Ayobo, Ishefun, Command and almost getting to Abule Egba are all Alimosho . Aboru, Abesan, Mosan Okunola etc . Now all these areas are very very densely populated . Trying to put a figure to number of communities in all these areas and the number of people living there is enough headache . In fact that’s why I can never agree with the claim that Kano has more population than Lagos . We will never be able to ascertain the real numbers , but Nigerians are definitely way more than 100m with the way we keep giving birth in different parts of the country |
Theflint1:Exactly. My own is not even about opposition defeating incumbent or anything like that. Let's just have an electoral process that allows people come out to vote for their candidate without fear of being harmed in any way and let INEC declare the winner (be it incumbent ruling party or opposition) How can u have political thugs making threats, traditional rulers making threats and INEC changing rules in the middle of the match; yet u expect people to trust the system? I'm sure even some people who wanted to vote APC in the east didn't come out because they fear their own neighbors and political thugs will harm them if they do say. It's similar to what happened in other parts of the country. People can always change their minds about a political party and its candidates; let's have a system that allows them express their choice without fear and without possibility of the electoral umpire messing up. Things will definitely change for good. |
larride:The point is Nigerian electoral system is very very backward in this age and time. The security agencies cannot be seen as being proactive to make things right. INEC cannot be seen as striving to be really independent like they should. Let these issues be fixed and you won't need to blame opposition's genuine alarm about rigging as reason for voter's turn out. Even if opposition decry rigging, if the above mentioned issues are sorted the people will gladly look forward to elections like Americans do. |
Theflint1:@ the bold, these are the issues. That guy whose pictures was everywhere following the attack on ENDSARS protesters, nothing has happened to him despite having his machete wielding picture everywhere on the internet. If u engage people like that to defend urself when he attacked u and police carry two of una as "Two-fighting case", he will surely come out of cell before u the victim |
larride:The bold was proven wrong in the last election tho. I followed the election live on TV and I saw some polling units that were scattered in that Eti Osa LGA. Despite elections holding in private estates with hundreds on voters on ground, they were attacked and chased away by political thugs. Go and ask Falz, Chioma Akpotha and co what happened to them at Ikate, Elegushi side. No matter how una many, if the hoodlums carry dangerous weapons una go fear for una lives run |
larride:You see, u are the one drawing conclusion that opposition talking point is centered majorly around Rivers & Lagos. That is not the case here. I can give u instances of elections in the last 2 years that have been frayed with different electoral malfeasance. The Osun election you mentioned which Oyetola lost, there were serious allegations of rigging. In fact the Tribunal ruled in favor of Oyetola that there was over voting favoring Adeleke. That shows the system had serious irregularity. Adamawa elections had it's own issues with rigging and even a REC declared a candidate winner before conclusion of result collation. The Kogi off season election wasn't free of these irregularities; same is the recently concluded Edo elections. See just take the point in my post and don't see it as a non APC supporter castigating elections conducted by APC led government. Let there be serious consequence for those who sabotage electoral process be it an INEC staff, a security agent, a politician, a political thug, etc. The people will definitely turn up in mass to vote their preferred candidate. |
larride:You are right that the opposition is divided , but division between members of opposition is not the reason why there's poor voters turnout. This is not even about APC, PDP, LP or any other party in particular. The reason why there's abysmal voters' turn out is the fear of electoral violence majorly and blatant rigging without real consequences. Let there be serious and direct consequence for sabotaging the electoral processes and let's see if things won't change for better. The INEC REC in the infamous Adamawa governorship election(I can't recall his name again), Nothing of grave consequence has happened to him since that saga. People who threatened voters pre-election and then carried out their threats, nothing has happened to them. There are videos and pictures of those who scattered polling units in different parts of the countries, we did not get any report of police parading them in their hundreds and prosecuting them. Even if Opposition leaders appeal to their members from now till tomorrow, some will not turn up because nobody wants to get harmed for voting a politician that may not even perform in office. I will not see NURTW guys wielding ax and machete at polling unit to enforce voting in favor of their fave; then I will say I want to be stubborn to vote my own candidate against all odds. |
Theflint1:In fact, I feel more than ever a lot more people got disappointed in how the 2023 General elections turned out to be. Imagine traditional rulers initiating sacred traditional rites just so people will turn out to vote their preferred candidate. How do u encourage such person to come out for next election. Will he feel safe voting against the popular candidate in such community? Is it not better to just stay in ur house for future elections? How do encourage a first time voter in a place like Rivers where Wike carried out the wickedest rigging in Nigerian Election history and nothing happened ? Zero consequence! How will such first time voter ever consider going out to queue and vote when he knows someone can just mutilate result sheets and make his vote not count? |
larride:Theflint1 was lamenting about the poor turnout of voters in Nigerian elections and while trying to explain reasons for poor turnout in Naija elections; you made the error of alluding the reasons to opposition making allegations of rigging and their votes not counting. Rigging is real in Nigerian elections and there are little or no consequences for rigging elections in Nigeria. The fact that INEC is not really independent in their conduct of elections is worrisome. INEC would always side with the party that rigged and they declared winner. Election violence is another issue in Nigeria. Party loyalists, hoodlums and even security agencies assault voters and supporters of other parties in broad daylight in different elections in this country. Some non-state actors will even say it live on camera that they will deal with anybody not voting for their own candidate in their area, the police will see the videos and do nothing about it. There's no how u will see massive voters turn out with this flawed electoral system we have currently in operation in Naija. Even if opposition tell their members to turn up in mass numbers at the polling unit, it will only take few hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons to scatter the ballot box and chase the determined voters away. Nigeria still has a very long way to go in this democracy thing we say we dey do. When I remember some of the disgraceful things that happened during that 2023 general elections, I just shake my head. |
larride:It's quite unfortunate, a sad story it was for his family. May God comfort his family. |
ddippset:You don’t consider female to be equal to u mentally as how ? Do u even know the number of females out there that are more mentally sound than u can ever dream of ? Make una no Dey talk this kind things in this age and time . Haba ! |
raumdeuter:Until one LGBTQXYZ transgendered beat one real female to death , all these people no go rest with all these their woke wahala . |
raumdeuter:What I'm saying is this: Ur ex is ur ex. She's now part of the history and not in ur life currently so u shouldn't be so entangled to the extent of getting concerned that her sexxxtape with someone else(not you) is everywhere online. The moment u start to care like that, then ur head starts overworking. You will start wondering if she was being "Ebanged" while u were dating (unknown to u).....You start to wonder if that pregnancy u gave her thousands of dollars to remove belong to Sir Ebang actually.....You just imagining all type of shiiit. The way forward is forward! Ohun oju o ri, ki bokan je! |
GloriousGbola:He just wants to give himself unnecessary headaches. He wants to start using his head to think nonsense when he can use it to think about things of the future |
raumdeuter:Does he still love his ex to the extent of fearing for her sexxtape being online ? |
PRESS RELEASENa this same Police PRO switch on camera and ring light begin dey yarn Okpata less than 4 days ago o. He literally said : “The fact that someone is 13 does not mean they cannot be charged to court. They are criminally liable, and we have not charged anyone underage.” One day we will talk about how some of these so called police PRO are not professional and no different from some random bluetick influencers. A whole police PRO jumping to make that kind of statements above (without consulting with his superiors), only for his superiors' actions few days later to show he was yarning dust & misinforming the public. |

Theflint1:It was obvious he had no choice but to allow common sense prevail . He has a lot to lose refusing to fold na . He only sacrificed the ego of his supporters/defenders to do the right thing . That’s not a price too big to pay if u ask me |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:Gbam! This is what I was saying the other day . By virtue of the child rights act, detaining those kids for that long and even trying them in an adult court is illegal. The child rights act is not just some fanciful law we can decide to overlook . Nigeria is signatory to some international treaties that makes it mandatory for us to protect the rights of minor; that’s how the child rights act in Nigeria came into being . The moment we choose to disregard what the child rights act says about those minors appearing in court the way they did; the international community starts looking at us with funny face . We start signaling we are worse than some states we call dictatorship state . The next time we go hat in hand to beg for grants and loans , they start denying us just for that reason which the foreign media would’ve well documented . T-pain quickly sanctioning their release after the show of shame knows what is at stake ; maybe his followers and supporters don’t sha. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:😂 The valid ID yaff lost . |
popizaino:Those roads are terrible bro; Niger to Sokoto … chai! Those roads are one of the reasons I promise myself that I don’t want to have anything to do that wil take me to that part of the country except the roads have been fixed . The fact that we have several of roads like that in different parts of the country is worrisome Attached is the state of Sagamu-Benin expressway. Punch newspaper had to do a story on it on September 28 2024 before Governor eleyi of Ogun state went on a site visit and then promised to commence repair works
|
Following the outrage that trailed the arrest and arraignment of minors over the #EndBadGovernance protests held in several parts of the country in August, President Bola Tinubu has directed the immediate release of all the detainees.Nothing to see here. After BATists don exhaust every excuse/justification in their Arsenal to defend the illegal docking and incarceration of minors ; their principal has ordered the unconditional release of the minors .

Good! This is what I like: If Dangote wants to be using innuendos to throw shots at other legitimate businessmen just so he can have a monopolistic market to himself, it is only right that the competitors rise up and clear their names. I like how pinnacle came out with their full chest to acknowledge he was referring to them and they are denying the allegations. Nobody should watch their names being soiled because one very angry Alhaji wants the whole pie to himself . He who alleges must prove ! Let Dangote bring out evidence (if has any ) corroborating his allegations against his competitor , at least now that the company in question has denied the allegations. Or Let's just wait patiently for the next allegation Dangote will make again just to get his much desired monopoly. |
akwesenana:Pep is the most important person to man city’s set up . City have managed to carry on with decent results in the absence of both players in the past and even recently . I doubt city will remain city if Pep bows out of Etihad . Na Pep gan gan Dey cook 🧑🍳 |
iamoyindamola:Make dem dey whine themselves and their supporters na ![]() |
iamoyindamola:People wey dey craze! When Tinubu wanted to buy a N150 billion private jet, they said it is because the old jet was bad and it could fall from the sky like Malawi VP and Iran president's aircraft. They didn't remember to pray for protection and save the N150 billion o. Now citizens dey complain about hardship dem say dem wan do National prayer against hardship ![]() |
CrystalTiger:Whatever sharing of rice cannot fix , national prayer will fix 🙅♂️
|
popizaino:Omo, there are terrible roads in this country ! You just made me remember the roads that lead to the north from the west here. When people go to Agege, Berger, Alabo rago, mazamaza, etc to enter bus say dem dey go north, I always admire their courage travelling those death traps disguised as roads. If u are going to the north and u follow the Jebba-Kotangora route down to Niger down to other parts of northwest, u go see shege right from the West down to the north. From all those Oyo town, Ogbomosho, Jebba, Mokwa, Kontagora etc, u go see pothole wey go shock u. I don't even know how government will not fix those roads and start a trillion naira construction of a coastal road. |
