But it is disturbing seeing as we just witnessed a crash of a decommissioned chopper that the Nigerian army is buying decommissioned military choppers that had been converted to civilian use. More so that the army that has no experience with aircraft bought an aircraft that stopped production in 1987. I have no faith in our airforce ability to maintain aircraft as every 6 months there is a training crash. What can we then expect from the army that have never had aircraft before now.

Would have been better if Americans had given us the choppers as dash. Netbook value of those hueys is likely zero after 35 plus years.

I don’t know if your guy only understands military hardware and doesn’t understand finance ; because if he understands finance he will see the bolded part of ur post as the major issue .

The choppers will probably be bought at a price that doesn’t in any way reflect the net book value of the asset. These are the issues and not trying to flex muscle about knowing his military hardware so well.

Over here we are concerned about the finance and not some long cap about military hardware . Nobody would raise an issue if they state the aircrafts for what they are

Notice the headline in caps that establishes that the NA was purchasing its first aircraft, so there was no need to continue to describe the aircraft as new...unless they were trying to pass it off as new.

Sowore did the right thing - at best the NA can come out to clarify that it was merely a semantic misunderstanding, and that they really meant new in the context of fresh inventory - but then I'm willing to bet that the documented cost of the birds wont reflect their age. Sahara did not claim anything , stop being disengagious . A ceremony was held when the choppers were delivered , the army spokesperson issued a statement after the ceremony and referred to the choppers as being brand new.

Sahara reporters is only calling them out on that claim.

I saw this news earlier this year on the military thread and everyone knew they were old refurbished choppers.

The "new" in that statement from the army general basically meant "fresh" aircraft into the inventory.
New aircraft..... meaning they just got them into their arsenal. Not brand new.

For a platform claiming to be an investigative journalism champion, how are they dumb enough to think a UH-1H Huey helicopter can be passed off as brand new in 2024.

The military then proceeds to buy 60 year old fighter choppers which they literally described as first batch of new aircrafts and just look at the kind of thesis you dropped as defense for them.
