-Lord I read a guy's analysis on Twitter that says when there's a grid collapse, those who live near power substations are likely to be one of the first set of people to get supply when the issue with the grid is resolved. I guess that's what is applicable to, A substation is not far from me. |

MadPolitician: Stop writing rubbish. No one is confused. And if the igbos feel that IPOB and other pro Biafra groups are talking rubbish, the sit at home thing won't hold for long, and anyone that tries to enforce it will be burnt to death. Take my words for it. The fact that people still obey that in the face of the dire economic realities, should tell you that they genuinely beleive in it.
The major problem with those of you against the sit at home, is that you believe your own skewed propoganda. You have been selling the false narrative that the traders were being forced to observe that. Maybe at the initial stage, a level of enforcement took place, but right now the people are genuinely upset not just with Kanus continued incarceration, but also with the general anti igbo oppressive governance of the ruling APC. Infact, the APC ruination of the country is the main reason Kanu continues to be very relevant.
If any politician from the east fails to realise the peoples anger on these issues and frames his politics accordingly, he is on his own. Soludo has been doing a lot of damage to his brand with his political outbursts and anti IP0B rethorics. At the moment, he should be the voice that assembles the opinions of his people together, in other to find solutions to the problems, but no, he would rather put himself against the same people that elected him. That is terrible politics if you ask me. Whatever makes u sleep well at night bro. Take care of Ur mental health please. |

This situation is just like a case of being in a commercial bus traveling as a passenger.
A pastor and a herbalist are among the Passengers in the bus. Suddenly the herbalist tells the driver to stop and allow him alight because the gods have shown him a sign of an accident ahead should the bus proceed on the journey further.
Then the pastor says " Na lie! This bus is covered by the blood of Jesus "
The driver stops and the herbalist drops from the bus. Now u as a Christian is in doubt whether to believe the word of a pastor who says the bus is covered by the blood of Jesus because he's an occupant or whether to just drop jeje like the herbalist to avoid stories that touch.
In a nutshell, the people ar confused because they are not sure the governor can save them from attacks from IPOB when they go about enforcing the sit at home. They also don't want the governor to lock their shops indefinitely as a he threatened if they don't open on Mondays |

raumdeuter: New or Used car, New or Used phones, New or used TV, as long as they are not manufactured in Nigeria will cost roughly the same as abroad plus cost of shipping and clearing
Many people abroad don.t buy brand new cars either. They still have to finance it and pay monthly because they do not have savings like your friend to buy it. Actually most people live from paycheck to paycheck. Many people cannot afford to miss 2 paychecks before becoming homeless. I know this
Below you can see the average savings of people by age. And average cost of a used car. So your friend if he is under 35 he will probably not be able to save for a used car. If he is over 35 he will barely be able to save for a used car
People were able to save and pay cash for used cars before Tinubu because govt was heavily subsidizing the Naira and this was what brought the country to its knees now I said small used cars. People who do minimum wage job can afford to buy this from their savings. Na u know why u are trying to make it seem like I was saying the impossible. But people doing skilled labor in Nigeria should not be able to buy, maintain and fuel a car because T-Pain is in power. Wo, whatever makes u sleep well at night jare

raumdeuter: Cars are imported and with Naira floating since govt can no longer subsidize Naira, you have to pay what others are paying abroad for the same car. Same with iphone, TV's and other items being imported.
Most of those abroad who are able to afford cars are paying for it monthly. Your friend saved and was able to buy a car paying cash
If everyone abroad has to drop bulk payment for the car at once, Then probably 80% of car owners abroad wont be able to afford one.
Even those with good jobs so driving cars are not basic needs. I didn't mention anything like new car or iPhone in my post. I said someone abroad bought a small used car cash down from his savings doing mininum wage job. This I know first hand, not my imagination but something happened. That is the same model that has always happened in Nigeria until T-pain came on board. If u like twist it as much as u want that is the reality. |

If your money no reach purchase and maintenance, you have to cut it and find other means I don't have energy for any needless back and forth this evening. It is obvious to everybody that basic need I wrote in that context is not oxygen food or water. Basic need in the sense that for a working class who has a decent paying job and has worked for at least 5 years , owning a Car is not luxury but necessity which will aid his commuting to and from work. All of these were normal until the disaster called Tinubu happened. At least I know people who do minimum wage jobs abroad who are able to afford to get a used car within one year of working. |

I transferred my kids to their school's permanent site which is uncompleted but a stone throw from the house. Distance is like from Pako to Chemist in Akoka so dem dey waka go and dey waka come back.
I now stagger the payment of my kids school fees. I pay for the elder in one month and the younger one the next month.
DSTV, I don stop subscription. Thankfully, I'm not a TV or football person. To keep the kids entertained, I downloaded binge compilations of their favourite cartoons from youtube onto my external HDD and that's what they watch during their TV time,
The way I now compare substitute/alternative products and do cost-quantity analysis when buying groceries these days, you go fear. X milk is 950g but is N5000, Y milk is 1000g but is 5500. X milk is actually better value for money.
My mechanic has called me several times to "greet me" but me know say him no dey see work like before and so money no dey touch him hand again, hence the calls. No be motto wey dem dey drive, dem dey carry go mechanic?
I could relate and feel the pain of that TV presenter who said she doesn't feel middle class anymore and walked off air.
The middle class have been dragged down and are now closer to touching poverty.
Truth is Nigeria has become too expensive to live in.
We are stuck in a rut, and it doesn't appear as if things will get better anytime soon or even later.
****End of rant**** I thought I'm the only one that has been thinking about these artisans. Last week I just found myself writing an article in my mind about hike in fuel price and it's effect on mechanics. Some mechanics will be regretting they learnt repairs of motor vehicles instead of any other skill considering what you just narrated now. Most people drive their cars occasionally now which means the chances of the vehicle developing fault is extremely low. That automatically means auto mechanics and their families will feel the economic hardship more than any other artisan. Only those repairing company cars majorly will still be able to boast of regular income |

GloriousGbola: My understanding is that tiering has been around for the past four or five years
They have already been deploying it in estates in lagos. And for some factories. But it was opt in. You go, meet with them, agree on the charge and are guaranteed 20 hours or more per day.
I think because of revenue shortfalls and government dropping electricity subsidies, they are now pushing out the tiering haphazardly and without customer engagement. The issue is the few people I know who are on Band A claim they don't even get the so called 20 hours daily electricity supply. I have an acquaintance who said they were recently upgraded to Band A (as per the units charged), but they don't get up to 20 hours electricity not before they were upgraded and not even after. So it's more like the distribution company just used the whole Band A upgrade to charge them higher while not getting any improvement in their electricity supply |

What is more funnier is thinking you need an Agro Cargo airport to boost agriculture in a state.
You never deploy more measures of mechanised farming. You never provide security for farm lands. You never encourage investors to jump into agriculture finish. But na Agro cargo go boost am
Do they even know how expensive air freight is?
Ogbono that you bought for 5k, you go use 50k take send am by air. [/color] It's just unfortunate the way things are in this country. When the governor was proposing the idea of constructing such white elephant project, ideally it is the job of the state house of assembly to kick against the idea. They are the representatives of the people of the state who should point it out to the governor that it is a needless white elephant project. The HOA should've impressed it on him that there are more reasonable ways of boosting agriculture that will not involve spending N20 billion of state state funds with no benefits added to the state. Unfortunately the HOA are a joke in this country, they just sign off on anything provided the governor takes care of their pockets. |
