iamoyindamola:At least a family of four(father, mother and 2 kids) |
iamoyindamola:That's why I was asking for other luxurious items on the list cos if we knock off the N14k for DSTV we all agreed as luxury, we can always add it to the N15k black tax to make N30k (if we add extra 1k to it). So to a large extent his list is still reasonable. |
Theflint1:Nobody has really been able to prove anything on the list is luxury aside DSTV. Even the DSTV, if u are a football lover u may end up spending so much data in a month on streaming matches & downloading videos than u will actually spend if u sub DSTV |
Jodera:Only rich kids take snacks to school ? I don't agree o; even kids who attend public schools still take bobo juice and biscuit to school along with their lunch. If u don't a child snack do u want him to beg from his mates? mobile internet means the normal data u subscribe to like Smile, Ntel, swift and the likes which u make use of anytime u are at home. U use for ur Smart TV, office work u brought home or personal surfing of the internet. Except u are saying u don't owe urself internet connectivity while in ur own home. Please point out more luxuries in the list |
iamoyindamola:What he did in the list is make provisions towards each expenses on a monthly basis irrespective of whether u pay it monthly, quarterly or annually. I noticed u have issues about the DSTV , but u didn't say anything about the black tax. Do u think it's fair to send just N15k to one's parent out of N600k ? |
iamoyindamola:If u are a man who goes to work, u are expected to buy at least one shirt a month. Buying 12 shirts in 12 calender months is not in any way a luxury. The school fees u pay every 3 to 4 months (a term is 3 months) so if ur child attends a school where they pay 150k per term, u definitely need to budget 50k per month. For the bag of rice, nobody expects u to buy bags of rice monthy cos it's not just rice u will be eating; u will need to buy yam, beans, spaghetti, Noodles, Palm oil, groundnut oil, meat, fish, etc. U will also need to buy toiletries, gas and other sundry items |
Jodera:Yeah, I agree DSTV is luxury. What other luxuries do u think are on the list for someone who lives in an expensive major city? |
iamoyindamola:The money u give to ur father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunty or anybody that u are responsible for their upkeep by virtue of being an Africa raised child |
iamoyindamola:Just go through that that list in few pages back and see if most of the things stated there are not necessary or not. It's not just about looking at the money as a whole sum. Look at the breakdown. |
iamoyindamola:Apart from prospa, I don't think anybody else said 600k no fit reach for a month. What most people are saying is that with prices of things going up, such individual will begin to struggle to adjust |
If there's no law to checkmate conflict of interest in Nigeria's judiciary, I'm afraid our justice system will continue to suffer. Almost all the judges at the supreme court and appeal court level have one or more relatives at the lower courts whom they either influence their promotion or need the help of the executives(governors) to appoint. This puts places them in very compromising position and always affects their judgement. Just look at the CJN, look the Odilis, look at this Dongbam-Mensem and others like them. |
Emaprince:Na katangua "bend-down-select" the family go dey wear be that o. Because for real it will be difficult for a man with two kids and wife to spend 20k on clothing.I think if the man earns 600k and the wife brings home an income of at least 250k to 300k the family will live comfortably well. |
GloriousGbola:That amount will get u decent 2 bedroom flat with nice finishing in places like Ikorodu , Egbeda , Ayobo , Abule Egba , etc. But then , that motor wey Izzou say the man no need , he go definitely need am to be commuting . And na fuel e go dey chop sef so Theflint1 go still need increase the fuel budget |
Itsrm:Na why I talk say the two of them na “I no go gree experts” . ![]() |
Amigoss:Even if u say ur siblings’ responsibilities are not urs ; u go sha give ur parents money for their upkeep . If either of the parents have an underlining condition like high blood sugar or high blood pressure , dem go need to dey buy drugs to manage it o. Most of the items on Theflint1 list are actually very reasonable and modest , but that black tax wey he put 15k no be for a typical African who is expected to take care of his elderly parents |
Itsrm:This is a fair view of the matter . For someone who has been earning 600k before subsidy was removed and dollar floated , he will struggle to adjust to the new reality. However for someone that has never earned close to that region of income before , if he starts earning 600k today he will be more than happy to even add more expenses instead of cutting down on his expenses . |
liveLongNprospa:And also where the car travels to. If papa dey work for V.I or Lekki and he drives the vehicle to work daily, there's no way N60k will be enough to fuel it for the whole month That Black tax of N15k must be for someone who is an orphan with no surviving hanger-ons from his family. Because person wey get papa and mama wey send am go school no go dey send them N15k out of N600k salary o. Except he no get conscience. |
afrodoc2:I wish so too o, especially now that we will be playing against 13 men(inclusive of the fans and the match officals) |
Itsrm:The two of them wan use semantics wounjure each other. ![]() Funny enough they are both right; it's just that each person is attacking the other party's point from an extreme point of view. |
![]() CEO of "I no go gree" records jam Chairman of "We die dia" group of companies |
iamoyindamola:Aswear. If football is not for u, just let it go. Why person go give himself heart attack over footballers who are making their millions? |
afrodoc2:I doubt the Rawlings kinda approach will even be successful in a country like Nigeria bedeviled by tribalism and ethnicity. It didn't work in 1966 when Nigerians are not as divided as they are today and I doubt it will work now. The same Nigerians who vote for politicians based on primordial sentiments like tribalism will find a way to sabotage the process of cleansing the system cos one or two of their benefactors are amongst those earmarked for elimination. |
Ballzproblem2:I don't know why people take football to serious like that at the detriment of their health. As much as I love football, I don't allow it get to me to the extent of affecting my general well being & health. The last time I ever had any medical health related issue due to a football match was 2006 Champions league final between Arsenal & Barca. I had serious headache after Arsenal lost the match and e be like say my head wan burst from the shouting and tension that happened through the 90 mins. As I grew older I decided such energy should not be expended on a football match I have no control over the eventual outcome. Except those men who died as a result of Naija Vs Super Eagles are heavy gamblers, I don't see reason why they should subject themselves to that much tension. |
afrodoc2:I don't even know if na jazz or it's just blind loyalty on the part of people like that. |
Emaprince:What I've noticed is that it is only online everybody forms macho as if the nationwide hardship does not affect them one way or another irrespective of what side of the divide u are. Offline everybody dey feel am. Even me wey dey hyperventilate after the election saying I won't offer any assistance to anybody who knowingly voted APC continuity because of primordial instincts like tribal & religious reasons; I don renege because there's a limit to how u can turn away ur eyes from ur age long acquaintances enduring serious hardship under this Tinubu government that doesn't know its right from left. When someone said people with N600k salary now struggle, yahoo boys and people wey their mama & papa still dey feed think say na cap. By the time u buy fuel, buy foodstuff for ur immediate family, do transfer to people in the family u come from, pay NEPA bill, make contributions towards ur rent, fuel ur generator, pay dry cleaner, etc...then u will know how much remain wey u wan appropriate further. Sometimes u go just sit down and wonder how people who are cleaners, security guards, drivers, etc survive with their meagre salary without stealing. |
Gbajabiamila who was found guilty of withholding his client’s compensation money as a lawyer in the USA & ran to Nigeria wants social media to be regulated so that news like that of his misdeeds in the past won’t be posted on the free social media . Yeye dey smell ![]() |
People get mind sha . So they took 4m cash to the police station to bribe policemen ? They are even lucky the policemen are ethical and professional ones. Some unscrupulous policemen could as well have collected the money from them , lock them up or worse still kill them leaving no traces of their existence sef. |
afrodoc2:Exactly ! People that didn’t have foresight kept applauding it as a good move; “removing the subsidy all at once and allowing dollar to find its value “. Now the only commodity everybody fit afford now na HOPE. |
izzou:This is the truth ; they know this but u they will never admit it. Things are spiraling out of control and u still see government playing dumb politics blaming every other person apart from themselves, their dumb policies & implementation process. Just early this week APC was blaming opposition for sponsoring anti-Tinubu protests . I was telling a friend recently that so many tenants will default on their rent payments this year because I don’t see how people still struggling to feed with their income will be able to renew rent when the time comes. That in itself is one crisis waiting to happen because the landlord whose disposable income has reduced due to the general hike in prices of commodity will want to increase rent . Eviction and quit notice case go plenty for court this year if things keep going this way |
raumdeuter:My agenda is vsible for the blind to see. Like I said earlier, If APC government desires more people to kill they should wait for the northern protests to gain more traction and roll out the tanks. I will continue to call out any of the co-conspirators as I do wish. Nothing anybody fit do about it. |
raumdeuter:Your name is also not Wole Soyinka and I'm not answerable to u for calling out an obvious hypocrisy on the part of Soyinka and his co-conspirators when I see one. If APC need more people to kill in protest grounds, they should wait for the northern protest to gain more ground and then should proceed on their usual killing spree. |
raumdeuter:U that has defended the last 9 years of APC's calamitious rule is suddenly interested in me protesting against APC ? Wonderful! |
