GloriousGbola: Local govt officials were probably collecting money from him giving the illusion of legality. You don't know this for a fact. The man says he is operating a legal business ; mining is regulated by FG not LG or state government. Let the state government bring evidence that suggests the man was operating a mine in the state without FG's approval. If u remember Makinde's security adviser's( Owoseni) interview on Channels TV he mentioned that they have been engaging FG on the mining issue in the state since the Buhari era. He said each time they engage the miners they always show evidence of approval from FG. Now this Malian is corroborating same story that he has FG's approval. The responsibility is now on Oyo State government to investigate whether indeed the approval this man claims he has is from the federal ministry of mines and solid minerals. Also the man has denied ownership or any link of the building now referred to as ground zero. The onus is on Oyo State government tó bring whatever evidence they have that suggests the man owns or operates the building. At least they are in control of the state ministry of housing and physical planning na. This should not be a case of " If u can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshiit " on the part of the Oyo State government |

Youssouf, in a statement he signed, titled, ‘Bodija Explosion: My Own Side of the Story,’ in Ibadan, the state capital, said though the incident was unfortunate, his activities as a miner were legal.
He said, “I felt the need to, once again, state my own side of the story to clear the minds of the public about my alleged involvement in the sad occurrence.
“Insinuations are rife that I am the owner of the Ground Zero building where the explosives that led to the explosion were stockpiled and warehoused, prior to the incident.
“It is against the above that I categorically state and declare here again now that I am not the owner of the building and explosives in question. While it is true that l am into mining in Oyo State, all my activities are legal, in accordance with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution.”
Youssouf added that he also didn’t have “anything to do with the explosives that led to the huge loss of human lives and the collateral destruction of property at the scene of the incident.”
The statement added, “I am using this medium to appeal to the state government, security agencies and other appropriate authorities to beam their searchlight further to reveal the identity of the real owners of the building and the explosives that led to the explosion of January, 16.”
He, therefore, promised to make himself available whenever he is needed to assist security agencies in the course of further investigation into the sad incident. https://www.nairaland.com/7987502/ibadan-explosion-malian-miner-deniesHmmmm....So the alleged foreigner being blamed for the Ibadan explosion has come out to deny ownership of the building according to Seyi Makinde's story and also claimed his minibg activities in Oyo State are legal. The guy is practically calling Seyi Makinde a liar based on his story. Where do we go from here? |

mostob: I think White was angry because Zinchenko breached the offside line. BTW, I don't like how Awoniyi just brushed off our Roll Royce effortlessly. There was coming together of Saliba and Gabriel after the ball was passed to Awoniyi's path, that was what made it seem like Awoniyi brushed off Saliba. When those kind scramble happens it leads to confusion at the backline. Zinchenko was the major culprit for that goal; he just lost himself at a crucial moment. |

iamoyindamola: With yesterday's performance we can't get a draw on Sunday we should be improving from last year not otherwise It's annoying and frustrating the way zinchenko keep making us concede stupid goals and arteta doesn't have solution to this Which brings me to why we loan out tear knee because what I thought is zinny replace xhaka in midfield that's position in Ukraine sef
ESR was everywhere yesterday balling but immediately Kai entered he faded like a leprosy witch fart
Why didn't we get saka backup in the transfer because yesterday was the lowest of the low forget his goal , he couldn't beat his man one on one Oh I remember Kai was 3 in 1
The earlier we realised Kai is the biggest of all flop the better considering his transfer fee and his salaries This werey doesn't fit in our play , no bite no spark Even if he swallow c4, ammonia plus grenade he won't still blow
All what I wrote all boil down to the stupid transfer move of Kai to the team because he's the one that replaced xhaka where's zinny could do that and we get another lb and saka replacement with the 65m we blew to Chelsea This transfer might be the end of arteta Tear Knee has injury issues, in fact he's currently injured where he is. If he had stayed with us sef, he will still be out injured. I think the problem was not replacing him with a natural LB instead of forcing the slow Kiwior to play makeshift LB |

mostob: “That’s pushing each other and being not happy conceding and I have to encourage that and promote it in the right way and a respectful way. Sometimes after the game it’s emotional and heated but I love that the players are pushing each other and demanding excellence.” - Arteta on the altercation between White and Zinchenko. It can be frustrating for teammates watching Zinchenko over and over again getting caught up in incidents leading to opponent's goals. The moment Zinchenko missed that ball yesterday , I knew it was a goal already. |

patrickmuf: If membership of a political party is founded on sound ideology then, I'd accept the argument that a party that fails should be voted out but that is not the case. Amaechi, Saraki and other PDP stalwarts jumped ship and were placed in exalted positions in the APC yet they still lampooned the PDP for being a failure, a party they formed a core of its fulcrum...
What happened to the PDP in the lead-up to the 2015 elections where Amechi and his crew decamped should have happened to the APC but the PDP missed the opportunity by handing over its ticket to Atiku. It just did not make sense that Atiku who is a Fulani man would succeed Buhari, another Fulani man, that move was a recipe for disaster and that is what prevented a lot of disillusioned politicians in the APC from leaving the party.
Obi and the LP on the other hand were not an option for these political heaveweights with influence and deep pockets, no thanks to the hate for the Igbo man. Truth be told, most people who did not support Obi in the North did so because of that seed of distrust planted in their minds and secondly, the LP did not have the political machinery to penetrate some of those places which would not have been the case if Obi had flown the flag of the PDP.
So, for me, I think the victory of the APC was more or less made easier by the miscalculations of the opposition... The bold is where our foolishness lies. Where did the hate land us? If ur kinsmen has been president for 8 years and even in his home town kidnapping still happens does it make any sense to keep voting for him and whoever he endorses? Obasanjo was president for 8 years and his people in Ogun state kept voting against him cos they didn't feel the impact of his governance in their state. What a reasonable and logical person is expected to do is distance himself/herself from anything Buhari endorses in 2023 because of how disastrous APC's 8 years rule was under Buhari. But I guess Bonhoeffer's theory of stupidity is right afterall that : "This is much certain, stupidity is in essence not an intellectual defect but a moral one. There are human beings who are remarkably agile intellectually yet stupid and others who are intellectually dull yet anything but stupid" |

patrickmuf: Thank you so much for the bolded.
Folks keep talking about the APC as if it is a person. 80% of politicians in the APC were once in the PDP so, it has more to do with the class of people we elect to lead us than the party and our knack for not holding elected officials accountable.
Even if LP had won, the national assembly would have frustrated Obi and who's to say most of these crop of failures wouldn't have decamped? It is the sad reality of the society we find ourselves, see Doyin Okupe who was indicted by the anti-graft agency rose to the level of campaign DG all because he has the resources. If Atiku or Obi had won, they'd easily welcome into their fold someone from the APC who was a former governor/senator/minister than elevate a modest party faithful. The system rewards people with no values.
Looking ahead, will the average Nigerian demand good governance instead of asking for crumbs from politicians?
Will the average Nigerian grow above ethnoreligious bias when the law catches up with someone from his/her ethnic group?
When I served in Osun State, I got to meet one of Aregbe's SAs from Ipetumodu in Ife-North LGA. Every other weekend he comes home, and the whole community flocks to his compound, they have to cook from Friday to Sunday when he departs and not just that, he dispenses cash freely. So, where exactly do the people think he gets all that money from? Also, how will they be able to ask questions about the government he works for after eating their cake?
Nigerians first need to set our priorities right. To demand accountability is to reject the crumbs but seemingly, it is a big ask for Nigerians... Normally I don't like to chook mouth in this kind talk, but on this one I would like to share my opinion. Firstly I agree with izzou on the fact that we need to cultivate the habit of voting out a party if they failed or didn't meet up to our expectation even if it's just to send a message to those people who populate the party at that point in time. To buttress my point, I will use the Fulani Herdsmen crisis as a case study. Yes I'm aware Fulani Herdsmen-Farmers crisis has been a re-occurring issue in this country, but it never became as serious as it was under Buhari's 8 years. Yes there are rumors that the Fulanis who are terrorizing people across the country were actually foreign mercenaries brought in by APC to force Jonathan's hand if he had plans not to concede defeat in 2015. I won't dwell much on the rumor since there's no way to confirm its genuineness, but the body language of Buhari and APC as a party over the past 8 years has shown they don't have what it takes to stem the tide in the escalation of these Fulani herdsmen attacks. Yes I'm a Yoruba boy but I served in the North West at a time the entire north viewed Jonathan as a Southerner who didn't care about the boko Haram insecurity issue in the North East that time. The South and the entire North (North west, North Central and North East) agreed it was the right thing to send PDP being led by Jonathan parking because he has not shown enough grit to nip the Boko Haram issue in the bud and they voted the party out. In fact some of those in PDP with Jonathan who agreed with that viewpoint left PDP and moved elsewhere. Now fast Forward to 2023; Boko Haram did not only refuse to die in the hands of APC, but so many other insecurity issues grew exponentially under them including the Militarization of the Herders-Farmers crisis where herders now carry automatic weapons resorting to killing people and burning down villages/farmlands, different non-state actors in the Southeast and Southwest engaging in kidnapping for ransom/killings and even Banditry in the North West. It makes absolutely no sense to me that people will know all of these aforementioned facts and then still look at APC as the party that will solve these myriads of problems that grew under their watch for 8 years when majority of those who formed the party are still there . E no just make sense to me. |
