Geremi and Lauren are clear of Hakimi for that RB based on my own interpretation
Lauren definitely has everything to push Hakimi out of that RB position. He won 2 afcons and olympic gold with his national team.

Na Gen Z draw up that list grin

I was just about to asked this same question. African 11 should be about your achievement with your country. Hakimi, Bono, Weah, Salah shouldn't be there.
I guess whoever kept Bono and Hakimi there did so based on their last World cup outing. Even Salah no get level in Africa at all and George Weah being on the list is just to honor his exploits in Europe

I think this kind of list is open to many different interpretations. I choose to interprete it as a list of the 11 greatest African players by ranked career achievement.

Otherwise Salah doesn't even smell this list
That's why I asked cos the list looks funny. Some of the players on it were just good for their clubs and not even for long. If it's by their performances in AFCON and playing at the world cup I know some of the Nigerian CB's in the 90's will definitely get a starting place ahead of Kolo Toure.

Even that Essien in midfield sef, e no go dey there

Debate.

The only Nigerian player I can make a case for to hold shirt in this team is Enyeama, and that's a damn shame.
Is the team based on what the players achieved playing for their national team (either in AFCON or World Cup) or on what the players achieved playing for their club side?

I find it unrealistic because Moniepoint isn’t the only Pos operator that Pos merchants use. If truly Moniepoint alone is processing that much, then there’s still enough money in the country, so I wonder why people always say there’s no money in the country.
lol grin

U are confusing bank notes in circulation with actual money in the system(i.e both bank notes and transfers/digital payments across different platforms)

U are right that Moniepoint is not the only POS opeartor/merchant in the country but they are like one of the fastest/biggest growing fintechs/ POS operator. Most POS shops have their POS machines beacuse of how fast their system is.

I recently transferred to someone, the moment I got "successful" the receiving POS merchant was notified immediately. It was faster than Opay and Palmpay sef. I guess that's working for them in a way

Na corruption they cause all these things, like you said as they finish one part they should just do the other one too
Imagine ebute metta/adekunle people seeing third mainland korokoro but will have to pass ikorodu road down to ogudu/ojota
Let's just hope what they are doing now will last and not that in the next 1 or 2 years they will say they want to close the bridge to do another repairs.

Nowadays If u want to leave island in the evening the bus drivers hike their price beacuse going to the mainland at that time is free, but coming back to the island is hell. So they charge like double because they know they won't be able to come back except they want to waste all their fuel in traffic on Ikorodu road.

Person no get choice cos we are the ones that have been complaining about the bad portion of the bridge. The annoying thing is just that when they repaired the expansion joints of the bridge that time under Buhari, they should have repaired the bad portion of the bridge too. We would have endured the suffering all at once.

It's just annoying that they choose to award that contract separately and then award this contract now. Corruption don finish us for this country.

Even at that, do you believe Monie point processed transactions worth $150 billion? undecided
It's possible; the amount of money people send/withdraw via POS daily is crazy and most of the POS shops around me use moniepoint.

According to the report, Moniepoint processed over 5.2 billion transactions in 2023 which is valued around $150billion. It's only if u are seeing the $150bllion as the actual money they made that will make it seem unbelievable to u; The $150billion is the money people moved through their system either as deposit in their MFB account, send to other accounts via their POS/accounts or received via their POS/account.

Nowadays if mechanic repairs ur vehicle, u run transfer to him which he will withdraw via POS, U send money to businessmen and women for goods bought in the market via POS, etc. All of these account for that amount they quoted.

Btw why is everyone afraid of coup in Nigeria
Well, I can't speak for everyone but what I noticed growing up was that during military era corruption is worse than anything u can ever think of in a civilian government. In military government there's no freedom of speech or freedom of the press and there's no regard for human rights at all.

For corruption, just look at how much Abacha loot is being recovered 26 years after his demise. As regards the freedom of speech, what u see them doing to Sowore in this civilan government is child's play to what military has done to press men in the past. Every week u will see picture of a journalist's young family on the back page of a magazine/newspaper asking for the whereabouts of their breadwinner who is a journalist incarcerated by the military government.

Most people afraid of military coup are apprehensive such dark days may return if a military coup succeeds in Nigeria

One time I sent money from a First bank account to standard chartered and I was charged 30 dollars as transfer charges. I wan cry. That was just tasere money. You can imagine how much they charge those who move hundreds of thousands and millions of dollars.

Covid, recession, Tinubu, Buhari, does not matter. These banks are making hundreds of billions in profit annnually. Infact, people are now starting to ask questions. How come every sector is declaring losses but not banks? They are masters of making money. Fintechs are not pulling any strand of hair from their body.
The money Aig-Imokuode and Herbert Wigwe made from just Access bank alone ehn…. Go to V.I & Ikoyi , they are buying all over the place . They have coronation capital , coronation merchant bank, access pensions , coronation registrars, coronation insurance ( in fact they recently had a court ordered meeting to pay off every shareholder of coronation insurance because they want to delist off the stock market and go private ).

The are not competitors to normal banks.

1. They still use normal banks for their settlement because they are not allowed to open accounts with the CBN

2. Traditional banks have mastered the art of making money. Bad as the economy was in 2023, they are posting hundreds of billions in profit. I think Zenith bank was on 500bn+ as at end of Q3 2023. Using the logic of most people, you would expect their profit to dwindle seeing as it was the year moniepoint and the likes really came into limelight due to Emefiele and his useless policies.

3. There is nothing moniepoint and the likes are doing that traditional banks cannot do ten times better. The reason they don't bother is because there's not much money to be made from the retail arm of banking. I won't be surprised if moniepoint is actually running at a loss. As past events have shown, these fintech coys are masters of cooking their books
I just dey laugh reading their opinions on traditional banks vs fintechs. These people don’t know how profitable banks like Stanbic IBTC, Access bank, UBA, Zenith , GTB , etc are .

They think fintech processing some million dollar transactions takes anything off the profit of traditional banks .

If they see the kind of facilities those aforementioned banks draw up for oil and gas companies in dollars and how much interest they make on some of them, they will know those fintechs are not even scratching the surface .

In fact, the traditional banks are even a threat to the fintechs because the traditional banks are setting up their own gigs like Wema’s Alat, GTB’s squad , etc just to get their own cut from the fintech space

Okocha was AFCON player of the tournament and joint top scorer in 2004. Made CAF team of the tournament in 1994, 2000 and 2004. At least I witness 2004 with my own eyes, no be say them tell me. Was part of that 1994 WC squad. Won the AFCON in 94, silver in 2000(where, according to our Nairaland theory of beasting finals, he did excellent by drawing us level😉😉), bronze in 2002, 2004 and 2006. Part of the Olympic winning team in 1996 and a starter for most or all of these tournaments.

The beef comes from The Italy and Denmark games in 1994 and 98 shaa, so I understand the commitment to hate 😂😂😂😂
I think it was majorly that game vs Denmark 98 when Okocha was perfecting one of his famous skills while we lost the match 😂

I watched Okocha mainly when he'd begun to wane (2004-2006), but even then he was still a very important player in the Eagles set-up, tall more of in the nineties.

Even me sef no too like dribbling without end product, and I acknowledge that Okocha could be very frustrating, but to say that this Alexander Chuba Iwobi that I've been watching with clear eye since he broke into the Arsenal team has been better or more important to the Eagles than Okocha ever was is blasphemy.
Big time blasphemy . I also don’t like shakushaku football , but Iwobi has not distinguish himself enough to make anybody claim he’s more influential for super eagles more than his uncle .

If you are brilliant why will you go for civil service jobs?
Some people work with government out of necessity not by choice. I have a friend who is brilliant and always looking forward to work in the private sector. He tried everything he could but was just not lucky.

His mum had to drag him to one of their relatives who is a chief on Lagos Island who helped him get into Alausa. All through his stay in Alausa he was always lamenting; complaining bitterly how civil servants are corrupt & how he's always at logger heads with his colleagues (from junior staff to directors) for trying to do the right thing. I knew he just doesn't belong there but he had no choice cos he was almost turning to egbon adugbo before his mum pressured him into taking the Alausa job.

He resigned eventually.(someone assisted him to japa last year)

Gerrard wasn’t fully tested, the Scottish league lacks the quality to test a manager’s mettle. If given the chance, I can roll over those Hibernians, St. Mirren, Dundee Utd etc
