MrPRevailer: In the days of the apostles, Peter and Paul were the heads overseeing the affairs of the church. Tell me according to your own version of one church, who is the head of the church now? The churches were headed by councils of elders. Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust. (Acts 14:23) Christ is still the head of the church Christ is the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything (Colossians 1:18) |

Your last post was all over the place..
You sir are the exact reason why Nigeria looks the way it does.
You havent addressed any of my points yet you think we are debating?
You state I dont understand why nations borrow, without giving your own explanation of why they do..
You moan about moving goal posts and now you are talking about China and Japan
You are a par excellence example of the product of a failed system..
You arent educated, yet you weigh in on subjects that you dont have a good grasp of..
I wont bother responding anymore. You have exhausted my patience.. I decided to play your game. You said Nigeria oughtn't be borrowing money if only she managed her resources very well. So, I told you that if it were that straightforward, Japan wouldn't need to be borrowing as well since we all know Japan fares better on the corruption index than Nigeria. |

MrPRevailer: Also the holyspirit gives different gift to members of the body of Christ to minister to one another for the edifying of the church.

"17If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? 18But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him"
Church is headed by a Pastor/Overseer. The contrast between Church doctrines can range from slight to wide margin. Because people(Pastors) read the Bible and understand it differently, are motivated differently (Money, fame, Spirit-filled) and therefore they lead differently. Some teach it's ok to practise this or that, some others teach it is contrary to God's word.
That's why the bible said "Be not deceived, for because of this comes the wrath of God on the chidren of disobedience".
There are so many churches. A believer should pray to God to lead him to the right church. He also needs to be Scripture-wise to discern deception from any church leader. (Such as 100% focus on prosperity gospel instead of Holiness) The reasons you have given are carnal influenced. You are making a case for division embodied by countless Christian denominations. Division arose even in the Early Church but Paul was quick to crush it. When one of you says, "I am a follower of Paul," and another says, "I follow Apollos," aren't you acting just like people of the world? (1 Corinthians 3:4) That would have been the beginning of denominations (divisions) but Paul condemned it outrightly. There is only one Church, one body of Christians and one teaching. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse! (Galatians 1:8 ) Why should doctrines differ within a body? Why are you labeled a Chosen? |

nograv: No I am asking you these questions, in an effort to get you to understand why your thinking is wrong.
That sadly has proven beyond your ability..
I realise you are unfortunately not very bright, yet you think that you are..
You obviously dont know anything about credit rating agencies like Moodys, Fitch and Standard and Poors. Nor do you understand their function, that much is clear...
You also do not understand how a credit rating for a nation is derived. You do not understand a credit rating can apply to a person and a nation.
UK S&P rating AA US S&P rating AA+ Nigeria S&P rating B
Source TradingEconomics.com
This means that Nigeria needs pay more in terms of interest rates to borrow. Another reason why we shouldnt borrow unless we have exhausted all other options.
Also a lower credit rating means that external bodies view Nigeria as less credit worthy than the UK or US (despite their large debts). Why? because investors are correct in knowing that the US and UK are less likely to default due to their stronger and more developed economies amongst other factors..
Finally you do understand that oil exports earn money be it indirectly via taxes and duty?
Or if Nigeria had a state owned oil producer like Malaysian Petronas it would make money directly from oil sales?
Nigeria makes billions from oil sales from per annum. That money does not fill national coffers due to economic mismanagement and corruption. The last estimate I saw in London revealed that 1 trillion USD of revenue had slipped through government hands since independence with little or nothing to show for it.
With 1 trillion USD in revenue from Oil alone, excluding other tax paying commercial industries you SHOULDNT NEED TO BORROW!!! NO IFS NO BUTS JUST NO..
Bros, I am actually British Nigerian and I work in investment banking in London. I do this for a living and I am respected in my field..
I am doing my best not to abuse you, as a people we can only move forward if we learn to work together..
But you are trying my patience.. You dont know how to discuss complex issues and yet proudly state case closed when you havent made a valid point.. OK, let us expose your stupidity once and for all, Oga British Nigerian Supposing we had combated corruption and become as industrialized as Japan, we wouldn't need to borrow, not so, Oga British Nigerian? But how come Japan and China (with her zero tolerance for corruption) are still borrowing. You don't understand why countries borrow, so just shut up instead of getting yourself into messier and much more needlessly complicated matters of misappropriation. Supposing our revenue inflows are perfectly and transparently managed, we would be like Japan, at best. But Japan still borrows. So, what is your point? You think we can avoid debts if we put our house in order but how can you explain Japan borrowing? |

MrPRevailer: Were Paul, Peter and the apostles not men? We're they angels? Lol The church at Corinthians, Ephesus etc were all man-made churches. They weren't imported from heaven.
We gather in the Church to be ministered and nurtured by the word of God through an anointed vessel/leader. There must be leaders in the church. These verses are an admonition to the leaders and the flock.

nograv: I am done here..
I have already made points which you have ignored because you probably did not understand them...
You havent exposed anything..
I will ask you again why does Nigeria have a lower credit rating than US or UK?
Why is credit cheaper for the latter countries than Nigeria?
With significant export earnings from the sale of oil, why does Nigeria need to borrow at all?
Stating that the US or UK has significant debt is not an argument. Especially given that they are developed countries with diversified economies that still show strong overall economic growth. That growth plays into credit ratings and a lower cost of borrowing for these countries.
If you can address the above questions then we can continue. Otherwise I cannot continue to argue with someone who doesnt seem to grasp basic economic concepts..
Have a good day.. You are being very insincere. You goofed by wondering why Nigeria was in debt. Why would anyone wonder why a country was in debt. Instead of trying to play smart with me, why not explain what made you to be surprised that Nigeria was ever in debt? You were thinking of national debt as something individual. That was why you were wondering why Nigeria was making so much and yet borrowing. The truth is that you have no idea why countries borrow. Case closed. |

Why can't we just criminalize domestic violence rather than focusing on men?

Economic growth is a key factor is determining a nation’s credit rating, this is based on the performance of industry in that country. America has some world leading companies driving economic growth. This factor is very much part of the conversation on debt and credit ratings...

A fornicator after waiting anxiously for fear of being pregnant, and discovers she's not pregnant will say "Thank God for that pill I took, if not..." or after an abortion will still say "Thank God this abortion was successful" A thief after escaping will say " Ah...Thank God, that man almost caught me o!" A cheat in the exam hall after the exam will heave a sigh of relief, "Thank God that lecturer did not see this piece of paper that time, he almost saw it". These are just but a few of what people do and say 'thank God' that nobody saw them or that they were able to escape without being caught, or that the consequences of that thing as expected did not happen to them. What are they actually thanking God for? For helping them escape the punishment for their sin. But they forgot that if they escape the punishment of men, there's no way of escaping God's punishment which is more severe than the punishment of man, except they repent. Eccl 12:14 "For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil". Brief but powerful message to the world. God bless you, amyblessed. |

MrPRevailer: This is the entire and we are expecting the return of Jesus any moment from now. So this scripture appears more critical than ever before.
Also it is not just an advice. It is MANDATORY. that is why he said "like is the manner of some" (example: Bluntboy).
I also want to include that because a church bears a name does make it unbiblical. What a way to demonstrate negligence of the word of God and requirement to Heaven. What matters is that Church preaches and adheres to the full standards of worship and service/righteousness to God according to Scriptures.
Read Revelation Chapter 2 and 3 Jesus sent warning/letter to the Churches at Ephesus, pergamum, Thyatira etc not to a brother or disciple. There was a town hall meeting we used to have while I was an undergraduate. We were advised never to miss it because it was our only chance of having a say in student affairs. Does this mean the town hall meeting was mandatory or advisory? Would the town hall meeting increase our GP? Of course not. But it gave us a voice. The same was for the meeting of the Early believers. Their faith was still young and they were prone to the antics of false teachings, hence the need to meet regularly to reinforce their faith. It is like learning a new language. You need to reinforce your learning every day, if not you would fail. Today, many of you ought to be already strong but your decisions to remain disciples to another man for as long as you live is the reason why you may not attain spiritual maturity. The case of the Early believers is totally different from the case of today's Christians. The Bible had not proliferated in those days coupled with the fact that Christ promised to come in that generation, meeting regularly was a priority. Your second paragraph shows that you have not been reading my post fully. I wrote that it is not because churches of today have names but because they were established by men. The need for a label is made more sacrosanct by the fact that each church is man-made and belongs to a man or men. Answer an honest question: why do you gather as a church? |
