Anyone thinking of voting Buhari again may all these calamity listed above follow your immediate family from generation to generation, non shall escape it till eternity. Amen
Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi all the way.. Mynd44, please, do something about this guy. He is threatening voters with curses. What he is doing is tantamount to saying vote for Atiku or die We don't need posts like this at this stage of our democracy. Anyone who thinks Atiku is a better candidate should be willing to convince those who think otherwise, rather than emotionally blackmailing them. |

zicoraads: I wholeheartedly support dealing with ballot box snatchers. But when a president says 'It will be their end', and in a country with trigger happy security operatives, I am afraid for what his statement will be interpreted as from these our security men who are always ready to shoot. Below were his words: “Anybody who decides to snatch ballot boxes or lead thugs to disturb the process, may be that will be the last unlawful action you will take. Mark the words maybe and the last unlawful action you will take It is not as certain as it will be their end which has somehow found a way into many people's versions of the harmless, but yet firm speech. When criminals go into a battle with crime fighters, there are always three outcomes. 1. The criminal escapes. 2. The criminal is arrested 3. The criminal is killed. The president said maybe Anyone who snatches ballot boxes may never get to do it again if he is so unfortunate as to get killed. |

If she is a low life for wanting to settle scores with fists, then what are you for fighting her on the internet? Cowardly hypocrite!!! |

Why are people this foolish?! He said maybe. Maybe means if you do anyhow, you see anyhow. It might be arrest, it might be death, depending on the situation. Jman06: Crude oil prizes were lower during Obasanjo's administration.
Standard of living was much better under Obasanjo's government than what now have. Telecommunication became popular under that government with many people gaining employment from that sector.
The fact that they came in after the periods of military dictatorship is even enough reason to cut them some slack, Buhari's government didn't succeed a military government but inherited a thriving economy only to end up killing it.
Below is a chart showing cost of crude oil during the two administrations. Compare and contrast:

An economy that was already borrowing to pay salaries. An economy that experts like the Economist had passed a vote of no confidence on, including writing a letter of warning to GEJ to tackle corruption and embrace saving while fast tracking diversification to avoid a horrible recession. As per the Obasanjo administration, it had the opportunity to transform Nigeria and put it on the right track. First of all, it brought back massive foreign interest for the simple fact it was a return to democracy after close to two decades of military rule. It is therefore understandable that progress was recorded. But that is not enough reason to think of that administration as something of positive remark. It had 8 years, it had renewed international relationship, it had immense citizenry support, and it failed. It had the opportunity to rewrite history, but it enshrined corruption, money laundering and a height of dictatorship reminiscent of the military era. There was no sincere effort to build the universities which had been set on a declining course. Rather, the Number One and Two men built their own universities. The Number One man would later erect a Library edifice to his own name. It would be in record that that administration created the huge social class dichotomy bedeviling Nigeria till this day. It created a few billionaires and millions of poor people. Atiku had his chance. He messed it up. |

Jman06: Check the funding of universities before 1999 and compare to what Obasanjo's government invested in the universities. I'm not implying that they did excellently in terms funding the universities then, but they tried compared to what they met on ground. Talking about economy, things were relatively better then in terms of standard of living than what we have.
1$ exchanged for around #160 then and prizes of essential commodities were not as bad as what we have today. Many power plants were built then and businesses were thriving. What exactly has Buhari achieved?? Nothing other than unleashing poverty and deaths on the land And how were things when they left? How many industrial actions were called against them from all sectors of the society? And remember that before Obasanjo came on board, Nigeria was under a dictatorship and faced many sanctions, many of which had a toll on our economy generally. So, it is understandable if there was marked progress from the days of ignominy under IBB and Abacha. This doesn't translate to that administration being better than this one led by Buhari, considering the problems of terrorism coupled with slump in oil price that Buhari had to deal with. |

Jman06: My fellow countrymen! Let us avoid parochial sentiments and give Atiku a chance to better this country for us all.
Just reason and ask yourself whether it is proper to vote Buhari who has clearly failed this country! Borrow yourselves brain and think!
A booming economy will rub off on everybody and we'll all be happy. Your region having the VP position will not improve your lives in anyway! Osibanjo does not even know you! You spent many years in the higher institution and graduated and all you could get is 30k Npower! In a country where prizes of essential commodities have tripled from what it used to be, what can 30k Npower do for you?? Is that what will establish you and enable you get married and fend for your family A thriving economy will create jobs that can pay you better and also create a more conducive environment to do business. Reason properly brothers and sisters!
Why would anybody vote for Buhari because of Osibanjo?? Osibanjo failed to condemn the wanton killing of innocent Nigerians in the middle belt and some parts of Northeast, yet he's a pastor! Herdsmen have taken over people's farmlands in my village and other villages in Nigeria without Osibanjo advising his boss to stop them, yet you want to vote for them??!
If it is about VP position, Atiku has promised to zone sgf to your region. That position is a very strategic one!
Please vote for Atiku Abubakar to get Nigeria working!
Don't listen to the accusations that Atiku looted, even in the court of law, a suspect remains innocent until proven guilty by the court! Until those accusing Atiku provide an indicting evidence against him, please don't listen to them! It is all politics they are playing! Remember that Atiku was their darling in 2015 when he was in APC. Osinbajo did not condemn wanton killings? Did Atiku condemn the Odi massacre? |

The problem is that Nigerians are used to their vile nature that everything becomes ok. What will it have taken for him to say Awon igbo?. Just like people think saying “that Aboki” is cool instead of saying “that hausa guy” If he had said awon Igbo, you people would still certainly have found something wrong with it. Either with his tone or the gathering. The truth is tribalism has made a lot of normal/informal things to sound tribalistic. Awon Okoro, awon Larubawa, awon Gambari. These nouns denoting tribes ought to be normal and harmless but you tribalists are trying to make them sound derogatory. I am sure that even in the United States, people may have informal terms for describing people from other states. Some of the terms may be derogatory but there would be others that would be plainly friendly, informal. |

Why not explain what Okoro alludes to besides being an Igbo name used to denote all Igbos.
Just as Yorubas use Gambari to denote all Hausa-Fulanis, but the name itself does not allude to anything beyond identifying the tribe.
Same cannot be said of Igbos use of Afonja, or Hausa's use of the term nyamiri, both of which tell a story.
So rather than run away, answer the question that was posed to you. Don't waste your precious time on that uncouth, hopeless tribalist. |

Guess you were too blind to also see the one that said that "okoro will never be allowed to rule".
If those were not instances of derogation to you, then "afonja" is a well fitted tag for all your types.
Hypocrite. I don't see how Okoro or IPOB was used in a derogatory term in the post. What makes Okoro derogatory? You have refused to answer. Igbos here call Yorubas afonjas because afonja was viewed by them as a coward and a Fulani slave. Tell us what is derogatory about Okoro? If a Yoruba calls you Okoro, what might he be trying to allude to? At least, we know that when Igbos call Yorubas afonjas they are trying to allude to Yorubas as Fulani slaves. |

pchukwudi: As I said earlier, you are hypocritically stupid.
I am telling what's derogatory to me as an igbo person and you're talking nonsense.
Now, look at those screenshots and tell me whether those guys were singing praises for the Igbo's by tagging them as the okoros. I saw the other screenshots. Bro, are you really this simpleminded? This is just like using a term to represent a people. No Ajanaku (Yoruba) wants an Okoro (Igbo) to call Lagos a no man's land. Okoro is a popular Igbo name so it is not surprising that anyone would lump all Igbo under the name. Please, stop this nonsense already. |

pchukwudi: I have a Yoruba friend whose surname is Afonja. So what's the crap you're talking about?
Now, can you imagine the former governor of Enugu state for example, referring to the entire Yoruba as "our brothers the afonjas" at an igbo dominated political meeting in Enugu?
How would you feel about that?
Be honest to yourself. You are still not getting it. Okoro is not a derogatory word with Yorubas as Afonja is with Igbos. When Yorubas and Igbos clash on Nairaland, do you hear Yorubas call Igbos Okoro when Igbos call them Afonjas? Afonja is a surname but social media made it popular for the wrong reasons when some Igbos turned it into a derogatory term. Some Igbo were even surprised on a certain thread that Afonja was actually a surname. So, please, calling Yorubas afonjas in a public gathering would definitely not be taken lightly because the name has become popular for the wrong reasons. If Tinubu had called Igbos developers or flattheads, then, I would have seen the undertone of tribalism. |

pchukwudi: You are just hypocritically stupid.
You want to insist on generically referring to Igbo as the "okoros" (because it's an igbo name) rather than referring to them by their actual names.
Yet, in the same breath, you do not want Igbo's to generically call your people "afonja" despite the fact that it is a Yoruba name.
Don't you see how hypocritically illogical you are? If you are not stupid, you will know that afonja is equivalent to flatthead and yam leg. They are derogatory words conceived in the peak of tribalism on the internet, especially on Nairaland. Why would a Yoruba want to abuse an Igbo and call him Okoro? He would rather call him a flatthead. |

pchukwudi: Don't you think it's both stupid and arrogant to tell someone what you thing is acceptable or derogatory for him?
How do you feel when someone calls you a name (that is not yours) which you find offensive but he insists that it is good for you - even after severally telling him in clear terms that you do not like it?
What does that say about what you guys are doing now? I was never aware that Igbos detest being called Okoro. We have seen some Igbos wave it off as irrelevant and non-divisive right on Omokri's page. My Igbo colleagues at work also did not take offense. So, why should I take it as derogatory simply because an unrepentant anonymous tribalist on Nairaland finds it so? Yorubas are collectively called Omo Odua. My name is not Odua, but I do not take offense. You people should calm down. Life is not as hard as you think or are taking it. |

Fatherofdragons:
I should be telling you that onye ofe. All the time we conversed, you kept on using derogatory words. I bet that settles the matter on who really is tribalistic. |

Fatherofdragons: It seems you are shamelessly defending your tribalism that was inbuilt into you by your parents. Stop projecting your tribalism onto me or my tribe. |
