Racoon:Just know that the problem with INEC (and all the MDAs and parastatals we now have in Nigeria) is a very deep-rooted attitudinal problem. It affects all the living souls who are working over there.. If you flush out the appointed heads,, all the workers and staff-members who are in the organization are all still the same.. What exactly should we be doing in order to start correcting all these bad attitudes to work, and all the bad attitudes towards true productivity?? Next is legislation by the NASS to mandate INEC to enforce electronic voting, operation of a secured functional server with immediate updated electoral information as obtainable in the US and other democraciesIf you noticed,, the Electoral-Act tried all it could to avoid the use of the word “Server”.. Even in trying to describe transmission, it seemed as if the Electoral-Act doesn't even know exactly what it meant by the word transmission.. Whether for the Presiding Officers to snap and send pictures of the results to photo-servers.. Or for the Presiding Officers to key-in the values in their machines and send same to a central Collation Server/System.. Or even a combination of both activities.. It just trusted INEC to come up with something -- anything at all.. And that means,, INEC can actual choose to come up with NOTHING.. So,, if the National Assembly Members gives us another amended Electoral-Act that gives INEC the powers and authorities to make choices again rather than giving them specific mandates on what they should be doing,, then,, I will consider that amended Electoral-Act like another useless document. |
Bigkoko:Very Straight Forward.. In a country called Switzerland,, after elections, the Country’s Statistical Board is supposed to always run consistency-tests on their results within ONE WEEK.. So, it happened that last year,, an election in Switzerland was cancelled and reversed within ONE WEEK.. The Country’s statistical board passed the whole data concerning the election through their algorithms for testing the consistency of election results,, and they found some really huge inconsistencies which would have affected the outcome of the results if they were overlooked.. And that was it.!! JUST ONE WEEK.!! See the link here below.. 👇🏼👇🏼 https://www.ft.com/content/9b2265e6-2d4e-4b10-8309-0a905d72f5cc https://www.nairaland.com/7891207/switzerland-revises-election-results-after .. But here in Nigeria, Eleven Months will just pass in the courts, and nothing good would still come out of it. ***MODIFIED..** I typed Norway earlier.. That was a mistake.. The actual country is Switzerland.. Not Norway.. |
helinues:We continue to evolve.. The truth is... The time we get our elections right,, there won't be need for all these election-petition tribunals any longer. The whole data is already out in the open, and very easy to obtain. Lots of organisations would get their hands on the data, and involve lots of independent audit firms who would look at the data from lots of different angles.. And each and every of the audit reports would still be arriving towards similar results,, ((save for some little discrepancies, which could be as a result of the methodologies used by those different auditors)). That's what it should be. .. But when the wrong things are done,, hoarding of data becomes the next thing, so as to avoid exposing the wrongdoings.. This now means that researchers cannot do any research with the Nigerian Elections. For instance, we cannot really pinpoint the Number or Percentage of youths who actually participated in these past elections. How many of the voters were Civil-Setvants, how many of them were farmers?? Which states were there the most percentage of farmers who came out to vote?? These types of questions are what researchers need answers to.. But INEC said that they don't have such data any longer.. |
helinues:As for the timely transmission of the results,, let us just say that the letters and the words which were used inside current Electoral-Act didn't state it clearly,, even though that was exactly what the law-makers had in mind when they mentioned “transmission”. That is why I am always talking about further amendment of this current Electoral-Act,, where more specific procedures for any intentioned activities are well explained/described,, and most-importantly, these activities should be tied to SPECIFIC TIMELINES.. Or else, such specifically mentioned activities would become something which the INEC are free to do anytime they like,, even after 6-years. |
helinues:The thread is nice.. One thing with Nigeria is this:: no matter the good intentions for the invention or the establishment of ANYTHING,, Nigerians are always out to find ways to bye-pass those intentions.. ((Even if they have to include those people who are in charge of those inventions and/or establishments)).. And we are not ready to address this anomaly yet as a people.. We choose to pretend that all is well.. We choose to always point out that every country in the world do the same things we are doing.. We choose to tell ourselves that we should stop noticing such things. Yet, the well-intentioned inventions and establishments continue to be bastardized as time goes on. ... ... I strongly believe that the day when the INEC-Results (and all the Possible Election DATA that goes with the Results) start to get fully published for public viewing and scrutiny (and also open to independent forensic audit) within 14-days of declaring the results,, that would be the only time our elections are beginning to get transparent enough.. |
ELECTORAL REFORMS: INEC SHOULD BE MANDATED TO SEND ALL ELECTION DATA TO THE NBS. The National Assembly should amend the Section-62-(subsection-2) of the Electoral-Act in such a way that the INEC should be mandated -- to within a SPECIFIED TIMEFRAME after the announcement of the results (Say; 2-weeks) -- publish on their website; ALL the Election Accreditation Data including the summarized final results, together with all the lower-level collated results and the various results of the various Polling-units -- for each of the elections that are concluded by the INEC. (The Election Accreditation Data which are published on the website should come with all the possible categorizations and demographics fully represented). .. The Electoral-Act should also be amended in such a way to mandate the INEC -- to within a SPECIFIED TIMEFRAME after the announcement of the results (Say; 2-weeks) -- Formally/Officially send ALL the Election Accreditation Data including the summarized final results to the office of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) for statistical documentation purposes. The NBS (after receiving the set of data from the INEC) should be mandated by the Electoral-Act to run series of necessary independent consistency-tests on the whole set of data received (without any further compulsory input from the INEC during the period of the consistency-tests) before making the data public on their platforms; from where independent researchers can have access to the election data. The maximum timeline for the election data to be made public by the NBS (including the publishing of the comprehensive reports which showed all the methodologies and the full results of all the consistency-tests which they conducted on the election results) should also be specified inside the Electoral-Act.. (Say; 3-weeks). (The Election Accreditation Data that is sent to the NBS by the INEC should have all the possible categorizations and demographics fully represented in it) The Electoral-Act should also indicate what would happen to the sets of data that were sent to the NBS, should in case the data-set FAILS the mandatory consistency-tests that would be conducted by the NBS. |
fergie001:Than it's very simple.. Let them go to the court and prove that they are compliant. |

xin5:If the bride price is Costly,, the same you will complain. Now it is very cheap,, you're still complaining,, and even roping an innocent guy into the story. Guy wey never find girl that suits him, now you think it was all about money. |
dominique:You know what's up.. |
Redomi:You have not gotten the phone yet,, right?? They just saw a “soft-target”. They will still not arrest the person who sold the stolen phone to the soft-target, neither will they find and arrest the main thief who did the actual stealing. |
Once your phone is stolen,, forget it. That's what I learnt from my own personal experience. |
AAAA67:Ikpeazu was the one who said that AIRPORT is not a priority,, and went ahead to divert the money meant for it. Stop telling fake stories here.. If Otti considers it a priority project,, then allow him to his decisions. |
Ahmed0336:Is it right to say: “well respected by now corrupt seat”?? |
HitlerWasRight:Now you're beginning to tell lies.. Good Luck |
ZIAZI:1. If a respected elder disrespects himself (by getting your 13-year-old relative pregnant -- for instance),, how would you regard him.?? 2. If an elder slaps you four hard times on your cheeks with two hands (two slaps on each of your cheeks with both hands), and you saw no reason for those slaps,, what would you do.?? |
muhammaduyusufu:Rheinno should just get lost. He is a typical example of people who throw baby away with baby's after-bath water in anger,, just because the baby's after-bath water is very dirty.. |
RIPP Sir |
Vicotex:I would need to have the GDP-Per-Capita values.. |
jeromestarks:Our LAND changed from MOTHERLAND in the old anthem to FATHERLAND in the new anthem. |
Obi doesn't have a TEAM yet. So,, which “TEAM” is this old liar actually referring to?? .. .. I wonder why lazy journalists continue to ask this man about Peter-Obi,, whereas there is a Tinubu which the man has to say something about.. Nobody knows Soyinka’s assessment of Tinubu.. Yet, they are all lazily asking him about Peter-Obi,, just for him to continue vomiting his forever-sworn hatred for the Obidients. |
helinues:Being real and harsh is better than faking softness and goodness. |
Pussyisgud:Are you being sarcastic?? Or you really meant this?? |
JaySmart4422:Whatever you're not using,, other people will use it for you.. Your Backyard is Yours. Find an alternative permanent use for the backyard space. (You can cordon it off with some plywood) |
