AsabaPropertyAg: I think this Numbers are Manufactured, where is LP, I thought Edo State is the Headquarters of Labour Party (LP).
This election suffered what our Nigerian Elections suffered in 2003, 2007, 2011, 2015, and 2019..,, when there were lots of Manufactured Imaginary Voters..
(But in 2023,, our election mostly suffered swapping of votes, rather than manufacturing of imaginary voters)
BluntCrazeMan: I am not understanding something here ooo.!! Are these EDSIEC people Not supposed to use the BVAS Machine, or something that is equivalent to the BVAS Machine.??
Following the whole of Section-150 of the Electoral Act,, The EDSIEC are supposed to follow the Proceedings of the Electoral Act in the Conduct of the Electoral Act,, being that they should follow the Methods of the Area Council Elections in Abuja, which also had to fully follow the Electoral Act, the Regulations and Guidelines, and the Manuals for Election.. This expressly means that the EDSIEC should also use the ELECTORAL DEVICES, and all the necessary documents and methods that were mentioned in the Electoral Act, the Regulations and Guidelines, and the Manuals.
From all indications,, they did manual accreditation, and that had mede the Election to become Null-And-Void..

MrB0LD: Honestly, I wish a law was enacted to stop politicians from decamping any how. Like you can only decamp once in 10 years... If the other parties' candidate was sworn in as president, you would have seen a massive cross carpeting, either to labour or pdp. These ones would come and corrupt any party they join. That's why I don't vote based on parties, I vote candidates....
My state is doing her local government election today. You won't believe that none of them in my local government came out to campaign. Few days to election, we started seeing faces of people we didn't know. I even saw people campaigning with only labour party's flag, no candidate. Then they expect me to go and vote who I just sofri stay my house ooo...!
MrB0LD: I just tire..! What a pity...! So like this like this, no hope again, no political party can be trusted?... What kind of miracle will save Nigeria?
jojothaiv: Reason I don't do tags, I hate all this identities.
Just the same people switching acronyms..
The main reason we don't need more than 6 Parties in Nigeria.. I am even being fair. 3 Parties are even more than enough..,, but let's just leave it at 6.
fergie001: Pre-Election matters are a set of events which arise during primaries, sponsorship, nomination and/or submission of names of Candidates, etc. To approach the Court for any redress wrt Pre-Election issues, the suit must be filed not more than 14 days after the cause of action.
Sponsorship and nomination are strictly pre-election matters. It has always been that way.
In the Electoral Act 2010, here reproduced; it is clearly stated thus:
Section 87(10): Notwithstanding the provisions of the Act or rules of a political party, an aspirant who complains that any of the provisions of this Act and the guidelines of a political party has not been complied with in the selection or nomination of a candidate of a political party for election, may apply to the Federal High Court or the High Court of a State, for redress.
The Supreme Court also re-echoed this in their many judgements: Tarzoor v Ortom, Eze v PDP, Emenike v PDP, Lado v CPC, Shinkafi v Yari, PDP v Sylva, and so on.
This did not readily change in substance in the amended 2022 EA (now in S84(14):
Notwithstanding the provisions of this Act or rules of a political party, an aspirant who complains that any of the provisions of this Act and the guidelines of a political party have not been complied with in the selection or nomination of a candidate of a political party for election, may apply to the Federal High Court for redress.
The key word here is AN ASPIRANT. Only a person who participated in the Primary has the required locus to challenge same.
You know politicians plan ahead In the Electoral Act 2010, any person can challenge a Party Candidate with respect to entering false information on Form CF001 or even forged or falsified documents as the case may be.
S31(5): Any person who has reasonable grounds to believe that any information given by a candidate in the affidavit or any document submitted by that candidate is false may file a suit at the Federal High Court, High Court of a State or Federal Capital Territory against such person seeking a declaration that the information contained in the affidavit is false
It is under this Section that Douye Diri & the PDP approached the Court to eventually sack then Gov-Elect, David Lyon, this did not go down well with some.
However, the lawmakers led by their Principal Officers (Chief of which is Gbajabiamila) sensing that this will be a big problem going forward for reasons you and I know, ensured that during the Electoral Act Amendment, certain sections of the Act needed to be tweaked.
S31(5) became S29(5) of the Electoral Act 2022: Any aspirant who participated in the primaries of his political party who has reasonable grounds to believe that any information given by his political party’s candidate in the affidavit or any document submitted by that candidate in relation to his constitutional requirements to contest the election is false, may file a suit at the Federal High Court against that candidate seeking a declaration that the information contained in the affidavit is false.
I still find it ludicrous that you seek public office whether Senate, House of Reps, Gov, Dep Gov or even President and yet hide critical educational documents which ordinarily should be public documents. All you need is SSCE, no big degree sef! During the amendment, I saw it and was complaining, unfortunately, it ends here on nairaland.
To add to this, the tribunal is different. It is sui generis, a special Court of its own. Issues of forged documents or any other matter that touches on the Constitutional eligibility requirements of that Candidate can be filed.
To the issue in the topic I believe the reportage here is a bit confusing.
To the best of my knowledge, Labour Party had no Candidate for the Lagos Central Senatorial District in February. Dabiri was trying to justify why he was the LP Candidate, his case is like Olumide the actor who everyone thought was the Surulere Candidate. Only an aspirant and/or his Party who participated in the election can go to the tribunal.
Dabiri was trying to justify why he is a member of the LP, the tribunal is the wrong place to do that. This case was rightly dismissed and he is lucky he did not get a fine.
The issue of omission of party symbol is grave and ordinarily the Senatorial election should have been cancelled IF and only IF Dabiri/LP participated in the election.
Fergie001, please I need your opinion on this one..
If it is only the fellow aspirants that can take up pre-election matters such as “matters which relate to sponsorship and nomination of candidate”, as well as wrong/forged credentials,,, and here, the tribunal just dismissed a petition based on Pre-Election Matters which the petitioners had no powers to be involved in at the time it was supposed to be treated, so tell me.. When is it supposed to be right and ripe for petitioners in another party to take up issues relation to violating the Act on issues which relate to sponsorships and nomination of candidates, as well as qualification of candidates.??
.. And so, you worked for the success of the candidate of another party against the candidate of your party in a way that violated the same party's constitution..
.. Now, you're waiting for them to start the fight, so that you expose them..
But their hands were tied.!!
.. Hahahahahahaaaahahahaaaaa.. It's still the party's constitution that is suffering the most in all these.
Like APC, Like PDP.. Bunch of Arrogant Morons who don't obey the rules.

The system can be HACKED..
And people will be seeing some classified and secret information.
These people are making it to appear as if the ONLY JOB of the FCT Minister is TO DEMOLISH BUILDINGS,, and to maintain some fake Imaginary MASTER PLAN...
Imagine crazy Gandollar saying that Kwankwaso demolished buildings in Kano, because he wanted to be the Minister of FCT.??
If someone who is in the position of enforcing the law is now using the law as a tool for oppression,, will his enforcement method make the society better or worse?
