Hello Nlanders,
just a quick one.
If a pregnant woman is turned back at the POE,who pays for the flight back to Nigeria?

Also, going through the online route, what can i use as purpose of travel - other and how is that different from letter of invitation, how does one get a flight itinerary for visa application purpose without necessarily paying just in case visa is denied?

Thank you as you respond.
Your first question made me lol.
It depends...if you had a return ticket, you will be doing them a great favour...otherwise you should be on their bill.

You can book a flight on hold with any of the international airlines online free of charge but if you can't...a visit to any travel or ticketing agency should solve that.

I think its pretentious trying to deny an issue like this, can you explain why it takes 8 weeks to process visa application submitted in Ghana while in Nigeria its 41 weeks?
I heard though not confirmed that Canadian visa applications made in Nigeria are sent to Ghana for processing.

To me, if an embassy denies me a visa, i simply move on to another embassy maybe.
Is it not my money that i want to spend? All the same enough of this jamb questions...
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by bodejohn(m): 11:13pm On Dec 16, 2015
I think you are both right.

If you see the ridiculous reasons why some people want to travel outside of Nigeria you will be amazed.

Truth be told, developed countries know that the easiest way to enter and stay permenently in their country is through transit and temporary visit visas. They are becoming more stringent with the guidelines.

In recent times, the Spanish embassy denied me and some colleagues entry visas into their country and upon appeal, we found out they didn't understand that our employer was sponsoring our trip.

After the appeal, another colleague got the same Spanish visa with just 19k in his personal account.
Some will say it is grace or favour but for it was most likely because our sister company in Barcelona queried the activities of the Spanish embassy here in Nigeria.

I would want to derail this thread, just wanted all applicants to know that been denied an entry visa is not the end of the world.

You are right but with the effort put into the application there refusal is just pure inconsideration. I feel that they are just using us to make money,Canada VO are notorious in refusing visas,my brother is in Finland as we speak we applied the same time. If our government cared they would do what mexico did make it hard for them too and watch as things will change Lol...
On the contrary, it is difficult to secure the Nigerian visa from outside. I invite foreign nationals very often.

They often pay through their nose to get the visas but like 5 to 10 working days processing although they hardly or never get denied.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by bodejohn(m): 3:08pm On Dec 16, 2015
I have been a silent follower of this thread.
But I have to make some few comments.

Visa denial is not the end of the world...i know because i have been denied before too.
I have been denied in Germany, Canada and Spain (July 2015) in that order.

The good news is I have had other opportunities, yes opportunities, to visit all these countries again except Spain, the most recent.

As many might think, I do not see any special favour or grace in securing a visa.
If I get it, I visit...if I don't, I move along...it's not the end of life.

Cheers.

PoliticsRe: Breaking!! No Fuel Subsidy In 2016 - Federal Government!! by bodejohn(m): 10:34pm On Dec 12, 2015
@ wiseoneking, if I remember correctly, only a few kicked against the complete removal of subsidy during Jonathan's regime.

The question then was how it suddenly grew overnight to become a monster that was gulping trillions of naira.

One other important factor was that crude was well above 100 dollars per barrel in 2012 and barely above 40 dollars now.

It is also not foolishness to kick against a policy 3years ago if circumstances surounding it was not well thought of or presented.

The truth now is that our survival as a nation depends on few things and subsidy removal is one of them.

There are good android tv boxes around, I am currently testing out the Himedia Q10 but consistent and affordable Internet service has been a drawback might be because my house is on the outskirts of town...

As you should expect, there are free and premium packages...while the premium packages are expected to be stable and reliable the free packages are not...

As Lagos was in the days of the AC/ACN/APC as opposition so now is Rivers State for the new opposition, PDP.
To keep PDP alive, Rivers state must remain their stronghold. I think the state is still largely in the control of PDP.
I may be wrong.

You see, this is the fraud that our political leaders perpetuate while we look on or fight within ourselves.
One of the absurdities I have seen is Oyinlola campaigning alongside with Aregbesola who he had all these legal battles with.
Whether the elections are annulled or upheld by the courts, nothing to me changes.
PoliticsRe: How Wike Lost Out At Governorship Tribunal by bodejohn(m): 7:03am On Oct 25, 2015
An election was adjudged not in compliance with the electoral laws yet no one was recommended for punishment by the the court.

The case will proced to the Appeal court with both parties in the suit spending more money and if the appeal court orders a rerun, both parties will even spend more and INEC will have to deploy human and material resources which will also cost money.

The biggest loser in all these to me are the people of Rivers state. Their commonwealth will be spent by their selfish leaders and politicians on issues that will only benefit them.

So I ask, where is the interest of the common Rivers state man or woman in all these?

Dear VO, how many days of grace do I have to pickup my passport from the gss DHL collection center office.

I got a notification email since Sept 11 that the passport is ready for collection but I have not had time to travel to Lagos for this purpose.

I am planning to go to the DHL office around the 5th or 6th of October when I will be in Lagos, will my passport be at the collection center till this period?

TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by bodejohn(m): 5:06pm On Sep 09, 2015
I had the famous interview alongside my spouse today at the embassy.

I must say that it was quite a simple process although we have both travelled to the UK and Turkey on vacation.

The questions were not different from the ones already put up here;
Name of my employer... how much I earn monthly...how long we intend to stay...and then a couple of questions to my wife...what she does and what she earns...

Some few questions about a Spanish visa denial in July on my passport which has already been cancelled by a two year multiple entry granted last week by another Schengen country.

The VO gave himself out by typing rigorously on his PC and then informing us it was going to be cold in Washington by December.

Finally the "your visa is approved followed by pick your passport in 3 bussiness days".
It all ended in about 3 to 5 minutes...no single document was checked. In fact the passport photos were returned. I guess they were in a good mood today...

Wishing every other applicant all the best.

chris81964:
Bros in North America the voltage for three phase varies. For light industrial 120/208 and fother industrial applications 277/480. It is up to 600 volts for even larger applications. We very rarely see 230 v. Our central air conditioning and clothes dryers might run 240V.
Thanks...although I wasn't particular about the 230v target. Usually power is supplied at a plus or minus 10% range.

I was actually suppose to caution about the frequency of the supply. While it's 50hz in Nigeria and most European countries it is 60hz in North Africa.

About the higher voltages, they are usually applied to very big electrical motors, so their currents can be reduced and also to reduce the size of the motors.

As I stated above, you need to check the power requirements of the equipment you need to power but more importantly be careful with the frequency of supply...you can damage your equipment in seconds with the wrong frequency.

Friends...a word of caution. 3 phase power supply in Nigeria is 380 to 415Vac but in North America it is 230Vac.

The equipment to be powered should be carefully examined and the right voltage applied to avert damages.

SportsRe: Why We Sacked Stephen Keshi- NFF by bodejohn(m): 8:52pm On Jul 05, 2015
I wonder why we have to tribalize everything in Nigeria, to sack a coach who from many instances have failed to convince Nigerians and his employers that he is capable and constantly improving has suddenly become a tribal issue.

Siasia was sacked because he couldn't qualify the senior national team for the nation's cup, Keshi didn't qualify the same team and he was sacked yet Nigerians are crying foul.

How can an employee be submitting his CV for another job when he is under a contract that is barely three months old, even players take permission from the employers before they begin talks with other clubs...that is professional discipline and job ethics.

I am not an authority in football matters but I have seen many coaches who were sacked by their employers picking up appoints in other clubs or country. Amodu once qualified the national team for world cup and he is the technical director of the NFF, who better than him should be given the temporary job other than him? He will even most probably head the team that will appoint another coach...

We need to learn to do things right in this country...
