I only pity Osinbajo and Aisha Buhari. At least they have little conscience. Others should please get infected so that they can travel abroad as usual for medical attention..

Useless and Hopeless Leaders
A mistake Nigerians should not make at this point in time is to rejoice or be happy that most of the people you have been confirmed as Covid 19 positive in Nigeria are political leaders or people around the corridors of power.

It might seem to be the natural thing to do or say but we have to look at the big picture, these people interact with a large number of people on a daily basis, from close aides and family members to hangers on including beggers, thugs and touts....and that is potentially dangerous.

I guess you're preaching to your Government who promised you steady power supply and employment, to end Killings in Nigeria and Dollar to Nigeria. Or was that not also caused by over confidence?

My brother let's deal with this rotten Religious and silly ethnic interest that have completely destroyed our country
I cannot understand your point...

The escalation of the spread of the virus in the US is a combination of the fed's overconfidence. Some leaders in govt said it was under control few days ago, but they just saw a 100 deaths in 24hrs. Is this not sounding like the music we heard from the Nigerian govt a couple of days ago?

San Francisco advised residents to stay at home but they headed of to the beach calling it spring break...guess what - students in San Francisco are now testing positive...Is that any different from Nigerians going to religious gatherings, political rallies and parties last weekend?

Some people are either dump to ethnicity, religion or partisanship. And I doubt if this nonsense will ever stop as long as silly religious belief and imbalance ethnic interest remains in this country.

Just Imagine people fighting over America that has little or nothing to do with their wellbeing as Nigerian Citizens when their own Leaders are sacking them dry?

How stop¡d can that be.

Funny enough some of these dudes fighting over Trump and American doesn't even have Ordinary international Passport, let alone Ordinary ECOWAS Visa, to talk of American visa

How funny does that sound?
To the contrary, i think, there are lessons to be learnt.

Over confidence from government and Complacency from the citizens...

But honestly, FG caused this nonsense. They should have shut down our airways since last week but delayed it for their own selfish interest cos they wanted their kids to come back home. This disease was brought in die-minute by Europe returnees..
Even if FG had shutdown the boarders earlier...
It would still have been opened to returning citizens, you can't shutout your citizens out in the time of trouble.

I will however blame FG for not quarantining the returning citizens.

Not a bad stat if you compare it to other parts of the world.

This can however change overnight as care providers are already complaining about running out of supplies.

Staying at home and social distancing is key...

Don't you think what is necessary now is staying safe and keeping others safe?
FamilyRe: What Is Wrong With You People, Stay In Your Damn Houses! by bodejohn(m): 5:25pm On Mar 22, 2020
@OP

It's unfortunate that at a time like this we are still as complacent as always...we are not alone in this folly as people in other parts of the world or where we prefer to call "saner climes" are doing same.

How do you explain that we went from calling this outbreak an "audio virus" a few weeks ago and an attempt by government to embezzle public funds to now that we think the blood of Jesus will magically set us apart from the outbreak after falling to heed medical advice.

If Italy, home of the Vatican, the base of more than one billion Catholics can be this devastated by the virus with a record of almost 800 deaths in a 24hr period, I hope we will wake up soon from this folly.

If people were called to defend their world or country by going to war and they gladly obeyed, how much more we that have been told to just stay at home or practice social distancing to stay alive.

Stay safe folks, follow sound medical advice!

It was reported that the case of Italy was because citizens failed to adhere to measures laid down by the government. It even put a question mark on the sustainability of democratic government in enforcing citizens. It got so worse that Italy is now drafting in military to enforce citizens to adhere to rules.
If people will take government measures seriously, the curve could be easily flattened.
Same in San Francisco, govt placed a stay at home order but the residents rushed off to beach calling it a spring break...

We only need to be saved from ourselves...

About a century ago, amelika brought dozens of ships to the west coast of aflika and ferried people thousands of miles away from their family and friends against their wish...without issuing them visas o.

Now, children of the people ferried away who wish to visit their ancestors' grave are been mandated to apply for visas...Abi someone whose father moved to Lagos or Abuja from village cannot enter bus to go visit him?

Only God can judge...even our Supreme Court go review this injustice tire...

As usual...na humor I dey o.

For those saying New Jersey is dry...Isn't the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in New Jersey or accessible through NJ?

The next best advise for US Visa applicants outside of solid ties is to fill the DS-160 form as carefully and accurately as possible.
Come to think of it...that's the only document that goes before every applicant to the embassy and in some cases stay with them for months before the applicatant even show face. I think the embassy does so much more scrutiny on that form than we know...

Climbs down from my OP...

A funny analogy usually comes to my mind when the chances of been granted a visa is dicussed here...

In the good old days of senior secondary education, you get to write an exam called "mock" before you face the almighty WAEC.
That exam helps the students guage their preparedness and more importantly take them as close as possible to "WAEC fever"...lol

I can equate the scritiny applicants are subjected to here as that mock exam. Just like mock examination questions are prepared by teachers who are WAEC examiners themselves, here we have seasoned contributors who at some point as applicants themselves learnt from thier own mistakes and from others.

Some of the contributors are like Further maths teachers...@Twoods grin, usually very tough, some are Literature teachers...@seyewest smiley, experts at word play. Some here are unserious like my Physics and English teachers...I no mention names o...I will most likely be the PE teacher, not because I am so fit but I gbadun the sidelines, enjoying the drama which is sometimes against the run of play.

Will it be logical for a student who failed Further Maths woefully to request a remarking of his script by a Yoruba teacher?

Climbing back to my OP(Observation Post)...

Convert to dollars and you have the answer. Of this is about 30,000 to 60,000 USD per annum, that's roughly 18 Million pre tax not forgetting benefits. The new environment, work for you, kids and family life are additional benefits that can't be quantifiable. Plus we have our own Nairaland doctor doing fine in Sydney.

Sir, please go abeg. Australia is an amazing country and the benefits of having worked for an international firm in your CV is amazing

Nigeria runs on GSM to deliver data and it is greatly affected by weather, geographical locations and our poor infrastructure.

You'll be surprised at the speed you will get when you browse on mobile data in a country like the US and it comes at an expensive price!
