Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by bodejohn(m): 3:43am On Nov 17, 2019 |
For those saying New Jersey is dry...Isn't the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in New Jersey or accessible through NJ? The next best advise for US Visa applicants outside of solid ties is to fill the DS-160 form as carefully and accurately as possible. Come to think of it...that's the only document that goes before every applicant to the embassy and in some cases stay with them for months before the applicatant even show face. I think the embassy does so much more scrutiny on that form than we know... 1 Like |

Climbs down from my OP... A funny analogy usually comes to my mind when the chances of been granted a visa is dicussed here... In the good old days of senior secondary education, you get to write an exam called "mock" before you face the almighty WAEC. That exam helps the students guage their preparedness and more importantly take them as close as possible to "WAEC fever"...lol I can equate the scritiny applicants are subjected to here as that mock exam. Just like mock examination questions are prepared by teachers who are WAEC examiners themselves, here we have seasoned contributors who at some point as applicants themselves learnt from thier own mistakes and from others. Some of the contributors are like Further maths teachers...@Twoods , usually very tough, some are Literature teachers...@seyewest , experts at word play. Some here are unserious like my Physics and English teachers...I no mention names o...I will most likely be the PE teacher, not because I am so fit but I gbadun the sidelines, enjoying the drama which is sometimes against the run of play. Will it be logical for a student who failed Further Maths woefully to request a remarking of his script by a Yoruba teacher? Climbing back to my OP(Observation Post)... 3 Likes |

He will not be paying his bills in Naira! @OP, check the cost of living in the country you plan to relocate to and the type of job you have been offered. As country hard reach for Nigeria, 850k per month salary is no beans. 6 Likes |

awoo47: He is not smoking anything bad even if he puffs once in a while... He just told you the blunt truth, most advance countries run on wifi backed by satellite, Coax/Fiber optic cables. Nigeria runs on GSM to deliver data and it is greatly affected by weather, geographical locations and our poor infrastructure. You'll be surprised at the speed you will get when you browse on mobile data in a country like the US and it comes at an expensive price! |

The mad rush to form political parties in Nigeria is a phase of our democratic development that I believe will soon pass... We must not easily forget the reason INEC allowed the multi party system but Nigerians are always willing to exploit the flexibility of our laws. This system has given us a LP governor, YPP senator elect and numerous house of assembly members, it has also reduced the number of politically motivated killings in the race for party nomination. The US whose political system we imitate has about 40 political parties with the option of independent candidature, out of which only two have won presidential elections for close to 170 years. Our laws should be reviewed further to allow for independent candidates since as it stands now only aspirants sponsored by a political party can stand in an election. 4 Likes |

Isaacmacdon: The proof is that only 29 million came out from more than 80 million registered citizens, that's about 35%. Can you proof that anyone prevented those who came out from voting? There is a growing number of people especially youths who care less about the process of electing their leaders but will later come around to complain about their leaders. |

I laugh when people push the narrative that the CJN was removed because of the litigation that might arise from the outcome of these elections... The supreme court usually adjudicate with a panel of judges...even if the former CJN was not removed, he would have to read the majority judgement and there can also be a minority ruling if there are dissenting views... Nigeria as a country has vested absolute powers in the office of the president and absolute power they say corrupts absolutely... |

What of Rev. Fr. Mbaka's God who told Peter Obi that his romance with Atiku was going to end in disgrace? Did we at anytime ever wonder why the countries we started nationhood together had since left us behind? While the citizens of those countries rolled up their sleeves and began working towards making their nations great... We folded our hands, knelt down and started praying... Even one of the major holy books advocate working before praying not praying before working or praying and praying as we are used to... 2 Likes |

God punish him? Is that all? Zero action, just running to the cover of (God) religion all the time... A nation so improverised by the ruling class can only bring an average 35% of the total number of eligible voters out during a presidential election to perform their Civic responsibilities... How exactly is he expecting God to purnish him? |

ThothHermes: Thanks for the offer but a bottle of water is just good enough. The problem of leadership in Nigeria is not only about the people who are leading or the party that is in power, it is about capacity and capability. We've had postponed elections since 2011, that's eight to twelve years and for all the good reasons... In about 60 years of our existence as an independent nation, we have been unable to provide health facilities, security, power, education and other necessary infrastructure for growth yet we want to produce a credible election in just 4 years, we should actually be surprised if everything had gone right last Saturday... |
