Thanks dupyshoo... Makes sense. We have maxed out our IELTS scores (maximum points from both of us) Tho I haven't done ECA, Cos I dropped out of Uni after 2/3rd year and never went back to complete it. Thought it would be a waste of money to get ECA for just Secondary School Certificate. Besides ECA for me, nothing really to gain extra points, except we do French classes, which would take a lot time. I understand what you mean and would wait till next year to see trend in the next few draws. Thanks again! dupyshoo: |
Hey dupyshoo... Trust you're doing great. Need your thoughts on this please... My wife and I currently have a score of 464 at the moment as couples, but I realized if I chose the option of not going with her, she goes up to 470 which is kinda like a guaranteed ITA. With that, she can go with the kids. Do you have an idea of how easy it is to process PR for a spouse after she's gotten her card? This consideration is only coming up if the ITA scores don't come down in the next few weeks though... We get to lose another 5 points by the end of January too. |
Wait... Your agent does not want to give you a refund? I think you should insist, get your refund and buy your ticket yourself... Except you have some arrangement with agent. I don't see why you can't get your money back for services that haven't been rendered. Chanbaby: |
Yea.. too Washignton. Layover is crazy, but you can get a hotel that's not too expensive. Not sure about bassinet, but Qatar has awesome services, so I believe it shouldn't be a problem. Used them at least 5 times. firsttymum: |
Lol... That's when I plan to travel as well. You can get for 358k for that period... firsttymum: |
Sure... Try 1st of February to sometime in March or April... firsttymum: |
The exchange rate on their website... There is a currency calculator there which gives you the exact amount needed to pay at the bank after you book your ticket... drafrican: |
The rates on Qatar are not bad at all, depending on your travel date. If you avoid December and early January, you should be fine. I just got a ticket to Washington Dulles for 308k to travel sometime in February... Juggle the dates and you will get a good deal! firsttymum: |
Your wife should also evaluate her school credentials and write the IELTS. That could fetch you up to an extra 30 points. FabioRomani: |
From what you say, it seems you were pregnant when you got your visa and didn't declare it at the embassy... Like you said, you're in your last trimester and you got your visa in July! Have you used it for the purpose you gave during your interview? If not, chances you will have issues at POE are high! olaboss: |
Yes you can... muyiwaojo1: |
I will advise you either get your ticket as it is and call the airline after you have delivered and are ready to add your baby's ticket to yours OR you get your money back and book online yourself from either the airline's website or Wakanow/Travelfix/Travelstart.com No matter the type of ticket you buy, cheap or not, you can always add an infant's ticket to it... Someone had explained here earlier (I can't remember the moniker) on how you can chose to pay via western union or so and then you can get a reference number. Your school needs the reference number to send to WES, otherwise, WES might not acknowledge receipt nor process it. I am not sure how you can make the payment though, as bank limit is $100 monthly. If you can read back, you might find the info from the poster. iykedpetes: |
If your husband can get the money in your account soon enough, you might not need a gift of deed, as ITA for your score might not come thru in a couple of months, following the recent trend. However, if it does come earlier, I believe he can simply do the gift of deed, even if it is after you get an ITA. socialmisfit: |
Ok. Thanks. I'll just wait until Friday... vcole: |
Thanks. That's for Friday alone... I just need to be sure of the exact days of the week. I plan to go tomorrow, but I do not want to take the risk of driving all the way and not being able to get it. The info is not on their website either! coolhayor: |
Yup! Part 5 now... It was useful for the birth of my son last year. Really helped a lot... Though I still follow thru for info on PTA and tickets. Congrats on your ITA. Hope the application is going smoothly! vcole: |
Thanks vcole.. I think I remember you from the USA birthing thread... do I? vcole: |
Anyone picked up their IELTS result lately at the British Council in Lagos? Please I need to know the days of the week allowed for pick up. It's written on their gate... I can't remember. Thanks |
Thanks a lot @dupyshoo As you said, it might not be worth it, but if 2/3 years transcript can be evaluated, it might get me up to 6 points. Doubt it can be done tho, as it was not a completed program. dupyshoo: |
Hello guys... Well done to everyone that has contributed to this thread. I have read every page since I bumped into it about 2 months ago... Though I had no reason to post since I kinda understood what I needed to do. My wife is the principal applicant here and our score stands at 444 with her masters' and IELTS score of 9, 8.5, 8, 8.5 LRWS. I haven't done my ECA yet as I have only Secondary School Certificate and about 2 years of Uni, cos I dropped out of school to start my own business, but I eventually worked in various corporate organizations. I only decided to write IELTS recently when I realized Ontario PNP wasn't in sight and I got 8, 7.5, 7.5, 7.5 LRWS. I wont bother contesting cos this gives me the maximum 20 points needed. Now we stand at 464. I would like to know if I need to evaluate my Secondary School Certificate if that's the only thing I have. If so, would adding transcript for my 2/3 years of Uni be acceptable to be evaluated? Also, does anyone please know the dates Report Forms can be picked up from British Council, Lagos. I can't remember the exact days of the week posted at the gate. Thanks for your responses. |
Hello everyone... I have been an extremely silent follower of this thread from part 1. It really helped with the delivery of my son last year, precisely November. I sincerely apologize for not 'giving back' as is the norm here. Please accept my apologies... Visa interview was quite basic. Got a medical visa and had to be the grace of God, cos the money needed was deposited in her account at once a few days before, but the VO was patient enough to ask why and if we had other sources of income. POE was Washington Dulles and it was a breeze. Initial plan was to deliver at Northside, but we decided to stay at Maryland as we had free accommodation in both states. Unfortunately, the hospital I had been speaking with was not as close as I thought. It was near Clarksburg in West Virginia and not the Clarksburg in MD as I thought it was. It was actually a 4-hour drive from MD, but we had no choice cos hospitals in the area were really expensive. We eventually used Stonewall Jackson in Weston, West Virginia. It was supposed to be a scheduled induction, but turned out to be a CS eventually, as baby's heart beat kept dropping as contractions occur... Cord was around his neck. VD is usually around $4/4.5k and CS around $12k, but we negotiated to $8.5. I got PTA from Union bank then for myself only at 199.7 (thank God). Luckily, I have a dollar-paying client, so all I did was to withdraw cash and give to her when she was traveling... I joined her a few weeks after. Documentation for my son was pretty straight forward... US passport in about a week, Naija passport in 2 days from DC. For those planning to travel to the DMV area this month, Qatar has great deals of N264k to Washington for the exacts dates of 17th November - 17th January. It's really good offer and you connect to wherever you want to go to from there. Another great budget airline to travel within the states is Frontier Airline. They have deals as low as $29 one way to a lot of states. Hope I have been able to successfully contribute on here and help someone. I promise to drop more deals or info as much as I can. Thanks and God bless you all... Hope i did not miss anything out. PS: I hail all those from here that I have spotted in the Canadian Express Entry thread... Y'all know yourselves! ![]() |

phrancys001:Thanks for the heads up... Haven't heard nor seen anyone with complaints yet though. I used same ride (2005) in 2008 and I didn't have any issues with it. Maybe there is something new that I don't know about. |
I prefer the LE specification with Navigation screen, leather seats and DVD. You can post pictures, links and VIN. Thanks. |
