As a prisoner, you are always surrounded by armed escorts even when engaged in hard labor. If there were, how the hell would anyone come close to them? Plus, the perimeter of where these prisoners are should have been out of bounds to anyone not a prisoner or a staff of the prison. I hope you learnt something today?

when a person has been sentence to jail and he is getting close to his release date, the prison authority allows him to leave the prison with his fellow mate to go work on the prison farms or other areas that may be assign to them. you can only notice that they are prisoners by their blue uniform. he may have been killed in such farm.

Didn't know that. But there should have been armed security around them. Back in the day, some prisons in the U.S used to do it too but you will never see a prisoner or groups of prisoners without an escort.
