LOL.

5000 Vs 4000.

The difference is way too much though. At least, RN9S should be able to give 12-13 hours under conditions that should give RN8 9-10 hours. But our sweet RN8 go reach 7/8 hours then pack up!

5000 is my next battery stop...

Yeah bro I often acknowledge I raise the bar too high. At least thank God for the first time someone using note 8 agrees with me on the battery and game optimisation. My expectation on sd665 gaming was just way too high but I have to accept the reality. You are most welcome bro

Yeah, bro.
Phones / Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by BoluwajiPieters: 5:56pm On May 22, 2020
olanreyman:

Let me break it down bro.

Firstly, the chipset is built on 11mn fabrication to make it battery efficient which they also underclock the cpu to make this happen but in reality rn8 battery last like 2800mah battery. I don't see anything that makes rn8 sd 665 battery efficient

Secondly, in terms of raw performance just don't near sd 665 in RN8 is crap. Just make me think they put this processor in the phone just to incorporate the quad camera. Who cares about camera?

Thirdly. The processor wouldn't recieve long term support due to the fact that it's underclocked and not a powerful processor.

lastly if you tweak your phone alot and you are a hardcore gamer just go for SD 675 upward if your budget is for a midrange phone.

Pls no ominiknowet should quote me. I come in peace

OH! Okay! I think I get your point though especially the battery performance. I also feel it's underperforming for a 4000mAh but I'd blame Xiaomi for that. I used to have better SOT and battery backup before one whack update came and destabilised things and now my SOT has dropped significantly.

I'm not sure about the "raw performance" though but of you're talking in terms of gaming, I'd say optimisation is the problem...for now. I'm not trying to create an excuse for the chip but from what I've gathered, optimization has been the tune on the lips of most people complaining.

You said hardcore gamer. LOL. Looks like you're expecting 665 to give you an 865 feel. That's not possible. I played Pes20 on someone's Mi9T and the difference is clear as day. 665 is not a gaming chip so I'm not expecting it to give heavenly and Blackshark gaming experience. It's pretty decent for most other things but then MIUI optimization kills some apps in background when you sleep your phone.

My only cons so far are battery and game optimization.

I think you raised the bar too high. For real.

Don't mind them, they really don't know jack.
When it comes to chipset in phones just like PC it's not a straight out contest, some AMDs are better than some INTELs, and vice versa depending on specs, same thing with MTK and SDM. Their often bad mouthed P22 is better than SDM665 in redmi note 8.

MTK Helio P22 is better than Qualcomm Snapdragon 665?

wink I use it so I know. Redmi 4000mah is weaker than infinix 4000mah for example

LOL. You're not putting together other considerations.

Now I've handled the RN8 (Which I own) and the A30s.

Processor wise, I'd give the RN8 the upper hand. The performance is smoother than that of A30s IMO.

Camera wise, I'd still give the A30s the upper hand although GCAM eliminates the contest and RN8 wins with GCAM. I don't see too much of a difference between the stock cameras of both phones though and then the skill of the photographer matters too. Point-and-shoot photography will shoot bad pictures with a good camera. There's a thread on camera here with people doing magic with supposedly "bad cameras."

In terms of battery performance, A30s is the clear winner. You get around/over 10-11hours SOT unlike RN8 8-9hours. Prolly updates will make battery optimization better.

IPS-LCD on the RN8 is not as power-efficient as the AMOLED on RN8.

I'd recommend the A30s!

Seriously!

I feel little or nothing is being done to polish or refine HiOs and XOs. It's just too "ordinary" and lacks premium feel. Unlike MIUI, ColorOs and One UI. Although I'm beginning to hate the fact that MIUI is seriously copying iOS.

this is not economics or philosophy class

i've been doing that, no tenable reason yet

you don't get? i need tenable but honest reason to buy the "hype"

You're missing your own point. Whether people or God himself gives you a million reasons, you'd still doubt that. If you need tenable reasons go to YouTube and watch review videos and comparison videos and not just going round-around on Nairaland.

I use a Xiaomi device (RN8) and so far, it's been good. Not perfect, but good. I'm already thinking of upgrading to another Xiaomi device not because this one is bad but because of course, there are tons of better offerings.

I don't have answers? What age is this again? You seriously need people to convince you to buy something? LOL! It's your money. It's your action. Buy the hype or look for another hype to buy. The fact remains that OEMs are churning out thousands of products monthly and it's overwhelming... You'll always want more even if you've enough with you.

If people give you reasons why Xiaomi is a good brand, you'd still call it "hype" so who has time for babysitting? Row with it, mate!

MODIFIED: Aye, this is an economics class and life is a philosophical society so wake up!

Lol, I asked for reasons without mentioning any brand... tecno and infinix are wack, it's common knowledge, samsung are expensive to maintain/repair, plus their shitty battery, hence, most users, sell after spending so much on repairs and don't want to go through the same process again, as for iphone, most sellers are first timers, who realized iphone is not the toy they'd wanted (as users can't enjoy the ease of getting apps and tweak, unlike the android) otherwise most users sells 3-5 series downward, but xiaomi note 7/8? even a few weeks user sells too often, why if the phone is that good and get recommendation? or is it a case of Bebe, hype but no substance?

LoL. The phones are good. Why don't you just ask those selling their Redmi Note 7&8 why they want to sell it and save yourself this tepid display of ignorance?

Whether Xiaomi or Samsung or iPhone or Transsion, human wants are insatiable and people generally have a knack for owning or trying to own latest products...

Again, whenever you see a thread with someone wanting to sell his/her/it Xiaomi phone, politely ask the person directly why he/she/it is selling it. You'll get your answer from the source --- horse; horse's mouth!

MODIFIED: I just checked your profile and see you're doting on Xiaomi/Redmi. LOL. This serial-killer level stalking though.

Thanks for the heads up bro, if you noticed am not talking about my device but that of a friend, who is also a nairalander, agreed we can not overemphasize the merits of updates, but some people just want to hear people's experiences and thus my question.

I use a Mi 9t and the update before last was a battery Zapper but I was amongst the first to update and even with the new update, I believe am also in front line of those who updated.

Sometimes let's under the rationale behind a post before we let anger take the best of us.

Once again thanks for your contribution as I await to hear from more folks whom have had hands on of the quoted device.

Cheers

We cannot shy away from the fact that some update(s) tend to destabilise things. Battery performance dropped on RN8 after an update and Android system has been mostly responsible for battery drain. Updates are good though but they're not always perfect.

The G70 was built with 2 Cortex A75 as it's heavy cores and 6 Cortex A55 as it's low powered cores while the SD665 was built with 4 Cortex A73 as it is powerful cores and 4 Cortex A53.

The microarchitecture of the CPUs alone displays it's superiority tho but it does not tell the entire story as the G70's LPDDR4X is slower than that of the 665, also the G70 uses the older Vulcan 1.0 as opposed to the newer Vulcan 1.1 on the 665. These aren't big differences tho, as the G70 still has more computing power than the 665.

The G70 pulls 190k or thereabouts on Antutu while the SD665 scores around 144k but MTK have been known to cheat on a Benchmark tests recently.

Finally Mediatek actually compared it, the G70 to the SD665, so does everyone else. Reason being that its too far ahead of the 660 and too far behind the 675 hence it's closest competition is the 665.

I hope you understand.

BoluwajiPieters bro you feel me as well?

Okay, I get it now..Thanks! I envy your depth of technological knowledge.
Phones / Re: Infinix Note 7 by BoluwajiPieters: 8:39pm On May 15, 2020
atheistandproud:
The Infinix Note 7 was released yesterday to a lot of fan fare and it finally gave room for a lot of fans to find their voice as this is currently the best phone released by Infinix currently in the market.

The phone packs decent specs. I was mildly surprised to see that for a brand that doesn't tout the type of SoC it uses, the KSP (key selling point) was the Helio G70 emblazoned across the sales adverts but it was conspicuously missing in the lite version. As for the lite version, Infinix didn't disappoint. It's coming with a Helio P22.

That being said, let's look at the key specs from GSM Arena/Kimovil:

SoC: Helio G70

Display: 6.95' IPS LCD display with 720P resolution with Gorilla Glass 3 protection

Cameras: Quad camera 48+2+2+2mp with 16mp selfie

Battery: 5000 mAh with fast charge

Prices:
4/64GB = 78k
6/128GB = 89,500k

The Note 7 lite with Helio P22 sells for 67k

The G70 was an impressive call and a huge step up by Infinix after repeated bashing by fans over the use of budget Helio P22 and P35 SoCs in their phones. The G70 has an antutu benchmark score of around 190k and is comparable in performance to the Snapdragon 665. The G70 is a very capable midranger.

The camera on the other hand seem dodgy as unlike other OEMs who use Sony IMX or Samsung GM or at least name the producer of their sensors, Infinix has been mum on that prompting me to think that they could be generic sensors. Only time will tell how good these cameras are.

The battery is absolutely decent and should be sufficient for a day's use but the 720p resolution is a real bummer for me, considering the price tag. The phone also come with a micro-USB type B. Another big bummer.

Finally, the price. The only other phone currently using the G70, that is the Realme C3 is priced at €130 (57k). The C3 has nearly identical specs with the IN7 so why the 20k difference?

The G70 is comparable to the SD665. So the first phone that comes to mind is the Redmi Note 8 which had an initial retail price of 63k, it had a FHD+ display, Gorilla glass 5, USB type C and Samsung GM2 cameras, all superior to what IN7 offers. Yet the IN7 is 13k costlier.

Conclusion: The Infinix Note 7 is a very decent phone with underwhelming specs and shouldn't cost for that amount. Simply put, IN7 and IN7 lite (P22) are grossly overpriced.

There are better options on the market that retail for less than that price or around that same amount like the Samsung Galaxy A51, Redmi Note 9S, Nokia X7 etc that would give you more value for your money.

G70 trumps SD 665 in all benchmarks.

this articles are misleading it's the exynos variant the note 8 defeated,it wouldn't even stand the exynos variant in some situations for example multitasking,it's probably only better at gaming. The note 8 chipset isn't as powerful of the s20 snapdragon variant, apart from the chipset the s20 has a lot of features that makes it more expensive.

The article should be titled.....
The redmi note 8 defeated the Samsung Galaxy s20 exynos variant in a gaming test.

I still don't know why Sammy will do an exynos variant of their flagships though when they know it'll still fall below in some aspect of performance when compared to their SD alternatives.
