Goan buy Samsung a31 and be using it to game...since Xiaomi has a long way to meet Samsung or get a Xiaomi phone the price of Samsung a51 or A71 and compare their performance...No one has to thrash these brands before u see the light... Samsung Flagships yes but their mid-range devices na no go......Plus u knew ur needs as a gamer, why didn't u just go for the Rn8 pro with a gaming chipset??as at 2019 when d phone was dropped,, which Snapdragon chipset did u think Xiaomi could have used as an upgrade to the 660 and would still maintain the same price bracket??675??670??...Pay the price of a Tecno and be expecting smoothness of a Google pixel

LOL.

Human wants will be forever insatiable and that's why OEMs will keep dropping phones like C4s. If Note 8 had an SD675, someone will still complain of performance and co. Nothing will never be enough.

And you somehow missed that SD 660 is a more powerful processor. SD 665 is an underclocked 660 built on a more efficient process

Seriously eh... Because 665 is numerically greater than 660 no mean say e go bad pass am.

This is just it. You buy a budget phone and expect flagship performance..... Wtf

LOL. Expecting RN8 to play games like Asus Rog phones or Black shark phones...and to take Huawei P40 pro pictures.

Xiaomi has raised the bars sha. I hope he finds the solutions to the problems soon though. I'm not saying the RN8 is perfect too though especially the battery thing but I still get decent SOTs so I'm looking away.

Can't use Bluetooth and WiFi simultaneously. WiFi connectivity on it's own is very poor. Notification issue on lockscreen. Gaming performance, battery performance etc

I use a Redmi Note 8.

First, I use Wi-fi and Bluetooth simultaneously without glitches. My Bluetooth is always on as it's connected to my Mi band and when I use Wi-fi together with it, I don't experience any form of performance drop or whatever.

I don't understand the notification issue on lockscreen. What exactly is the problem?

Gaming performance is mostly because most games ain't optimized for the SD 665 yet. I tried to run PUBG on higher settings on MiA3 and had the same issues my Note 8 had. Maybe it's a Xiaomi thing, I don't know.

Battery performance dropped after one "yeye" update like that but I still get 8/8.5hrs SOT without regular usage.

Exactly! Ever since I left transsion for Xiaomi in November 2019, I have not regretted that move.
I'm not saying Xiaomi is the best out there, but I tasted what it feels like to have a real midrange smartphone.
Redmi Note 8 feels premium and I don't see the urgent need to jump onto the Redmi Note 9 bandwagon (gcam is keeping me glued to RN8 grin)

We are on the same boat! I joined the train in November 2019 and I've been so impressed. The fluidity, screen sharpness and altogether great UI is keeping me glued to RN8 until 2021. We move!

Tell those other brands to sell theirs since the sky is wide enough for everyone

As long as YouTube remains, and I'm getting the quality for the quantity I pay, I'd patronise any brand worth it. And yeah, the sky is big enough for all to thrive.

But they still sell. Why hasn't these aforementioned phones have high sales all these while? Why is nokia still have difficulty in returning to it's past glory till date? You think the users of tecno didn't consider other factors before switching to tecno or you think it is mere price that attract them.

They sell because of ignorance. Even the Bible stated somewhere in its sophia-sticated books that my people suffer because of the lack of knowledge. One very great man is trying to impart that much-needed knowledge in a bid to stimulate Tecno to either reduce the prices of their "cheap phones" or improve on specifications however, another flying-on-broom man enjoys this lack of knowledge and the suffering that comes with it.

Life is for the wise, and those with knowledge.

They're selling because people have come to recognise them as a household name due to the messy and below-par standard of the good world of technology in Africa. Ask yourself, in saner climes where scrutiny is done on phones and accessories, how's Tecno and co faring there? Just how?! Tecno is banking on the fact that we are backwards both mentally and technologically that they keep dumping overpriced substandard products on us and we smile like sheep while glorifying it. Open your eyes!

LOL...

For a 95k phone, you'd at the very least expect a processor of SD 700+ series (or its equivalent) and above, a FHD+ screen, USB type C port, Corning gorilla glass 5, good software support, a 5000mAh battery...

Anything below that is pure exploitation.

Tecno is still cheap and affordable. They produce varieties of phones for different stratas. This particular one is not targeted at low income earners . If op can not give empirically claim with then he should stop derailing tecno thread rather he should remain in his lane.

Tecno is doing phones worth 35k. Nokia is doing the same thing. Samsung is doing the same thing. Xiaomi is doing the same thing. What's the fuss about? What the OP is saying is that, when you compare a Tecno's 35k phone to that of Samsung, Xiaomi and Nokia, Specifications-wise, Tecno is at the bottom of the competition! That's the point!

If you can't see that, then I'm sorry there's no "research" that can remove your sentiments..It's that simple..

You haven't successful point anything since you use the word research and assume that you are dealing with a kid that just graduate yesterday. Research is detail so you have to dissert it to prove beyond reasonable doubt. Since you claim to know research, you have to demonstrate it here. This time around take your time to study journal articles from engineering department on how things are done.

This extent of ignorance is beyond research. You expect a peer-reviewed, full-length paged research article, yeah? You're good!

Bottom line is that Tecno claims to be "cheap and affordable" but in fact, when their cheap and affordable phones are compared with other phones in the "cheap and affordable price range," Transsion/Tecno/Infinix turn out to produce subliminal products when compared to the aforementioned examples the OP gave.

You're trying to be free from mtk
I'm trying to be free from helio p22
After you guys here made me question my dear techno brand, I did some research
I then found out that the past 4 phones I bought from techno has been using the same chip called helio p22
Imagine, I was using the same dang phone since 2016. Same phone with different bodies
Chai
Ignorance is bad.

LOL. Reminds me of when a friend played PES2020 on my RN8 and he was like why is my own smoother and the graphics better... is it not the same 4gb/64gb on his Camon 12? I didn't even know where to start. Processors speaks a lot about phones. All that GPU/CPU stuff eh, they matter!!!

Jumping from a phone with P22 to another phone with P22 isn't an upgrade to me irrespective of the new casing or the additional mega pixels to the camera. You can do P22 to P60 or G70... That'd be considered upgrade. I'm just glad Xiaomi and other OEMs are opening the eyes of Nigerians to what true mobile technology means.

Sorry bro. TBH, I think we've all been there. Tecno is a necessary evil that you, somehow, have to experience once so that you can tell good from evil.

Right now, I want to cleanse myself of MTK but Xiaomi be playing mind tricks on me.

Funnily enough, I never got to taste Tecno and her Siamese twin, Infinix. I did used their relative Itel though. Any MTK from G90T would suffice for me although 800 series of SD is my next point of call.

Me digest anything itel, shitfinix or technope?

You're clearly missing the point. He's not trying to glorify Tecno and the likes but trying to disillusion those that believe Tecno and Infinix make cheap and affordable phones and he's so doing that by comparing phones within the same "mobile cadre" with their prices hence, specifications-for-cost comparison.
