Nigerian academician, Professor Uju Anya and UK media personality, Piers Morgan, clashed on Twitter this evening.

Uju made global news after her tweet addressed to Queen Elizabeth generated mixed reactions from people all around the world. Shortly after the Queen's deteriorating health was announced before her final demise last week, Uju took to Twitter to describe the Queen as the "chief monarch of a thieving raping genocidal empire." She went on to wish her excruciating pain.

On Wednesday, September 14, Uju stated on her handle that Piers Morgan wants an interview with her but will never grant it.

Mr Morgan saw her Tweet this evening and stated that he indeed wants to interview her, just so she can repeat the things she said about the Queen, to his face.

''I definitely want to interview you. I'd like you to try repeating to my face that you hoped the Queen died in 'excruciating pain.' But I suspect like most vile 'woke' trolls, you won't have the guts. Do you?''

Uju spotted his comment and did not waste time firing back at him. See their exchange below.

The federal government says it will penalise the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Daily Trust over their documentaries on terrorism and banditry in Nigeria.

Lai Mohammad, minister of information and culture, said this in Abuja on Thursday.

“Let me assure you, they will not get away with this naked glorification of terrorism and banditry in Nigeria,” Mohammad said.

In a 50-minute documentary titled ‘The Bandit Warlords of Zamfara’, published on Monday, the BBC Africa Eye provided insight into the mindset of bandit kingpins, the booming kidnap-for-ransom industry, and how Zamfara’s insecurity may have been brought on by the ethnic conflict between Hausa and Fulani groups.

In March, Daily Trust TV, an arm of Daily Trust Newspaper, published a special report and documentary which exposed major issues around banditry in Nigeria. Non-state actors like Bello Turji was interviewed in the documentary.

Bello Kachalla, better known as Turji, is a notorious bandit leader who operates in northern Nigeria, particularly Zamfara, Sokoto and Niger state.

“All I can say is that there is a regulatory body, the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and they are also aware of these incidents and are looking at which part of the broadcasting codes have been violated by both the BBC and the Daily Trust,” the minister said.

“But I can assure you that there will be consequences. For those who will argue that BBC is a foreign broadcaster and as such, it is not licensed by NBC, let me assure you, they will not get away with this naked glorification of terrorism and banditry in Nigeria.

“I have said it many times here that the media is the oxygen that the terrorists and bandits need to breathe. When other reputable platforms like BBC now give their platform to terrorists, showing their faces as if they are Nollywood stars, what does that means? I want to assure them they won’t get away with it. There are sanctions to be meted on both the BBC and the Daily Trust.”

A baby boy, born to two siblings who committed incest, has died within hours of his birth due to being severely genetically compromised.

The boy was born in Dustlik, Uzbekistan, but is said to have had numerous birth defects because his parents were brother and sister.

Footage captured the baby crying in an incubator as a nurse wiped the dry, scaly skin on his bum.

His mother, born in 1994, was 35 weeks and four days pregnant when she gave birth to the boy, the Uzbek Health Ministry said on June 28.

The boy was her second child, the first was born to a previous husband, and the pregnancy was normal, added the Ministry.

However, despite the doctors' best efforts to revive him, sadly, the newborn died just two hours and 10 minutes after he came into the world.

The Uzbek Ministry of Health said: "It is known that in medicine it is proven that in most cases, children are born with various genetic defects due to the marriage of close relatives.

"In particular, because of such families, the unborn child may develop dangerous diseases such as congenital mental retardation, chromosomal disorders, Down syndrome, severe mental and physical retardation.

"Therefore, we ask young people who are preparing to get married, first of all, to undergo a medical examination, and then to start a new life, to avoid marriage between close relatives."

Nollywood actress and producer, Funke Akindele has been nominated as one of the potential running mates to Alhaji Abdulaziz Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate.

The actress’ name followed among the six shortlisted names by the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Popular Nollywood actor and singer, Moses Armstrong has been arrested by men of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl.

Confirming his arrest, the national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, during a chat with Qed.ng, described the case as “a very serious one”.

He said it is being handled by the First Lady of the state, Martha Udom Emmanuel through her Family Empowerment and Youth Re-Orientation Path Initiative.

The AGN president added that the accusation was a sad development, as it involves one of their own.

However, he said the organisation will not condone such a crime.

“To get involved with a child as young as 16yrs, is not something I and the association I represent, would stand for.

“This is a very sad development involving a member of ours, but I wouldn’t want to comment any further on this case,” he said.

Armstrong until his arrest was a Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel.

He lost his wife and colleague, Rita Armstrong in 2018.

Rita according to reports died from spinal cord injuries she sustained from an accident.

Oyegun, confirmed this on Friday when he submitted his

Unknown gunmen have killed a soldier and five other persons in Anaocha and Nnewi South Local Government Areas of Anambra State.

It was gathered that five of the victims were killed at a restaurant in Obiofia village, Osumenyi, in Nnewi South.

The assailants, armed with automatic rifles, cutlasses, and
other dangerous weapons, invaded a military checkpoint in
Agulu on Saturday and opened fire on soldiers, killing one in
the process.

A source told Punch that the gunmen carried out the operation with over three exotic vehicles suspected to have been snatched from the owners.

"They confronted the soldiers for over 10 minutes, causing
residents of the area to scamper to safety, and after a long
gun battle, the men overpowered the soldiers, and they had to withdraw," the source narrated.

"The assailants did not cover their faces, and they were shouting on top of their voices. We saw them; some people
even tried to make videos, but everyone was afraid not to be
spotted and shot,” the source added.

The attack at a bar, also known as ?t? Nd? beer parlour, occurred on Friday when some gunmen invaded it at about
8pm and immediately opened fire, killing its owner, identified as ?t? Nd?, and her four customers.

One Prince Jay who shared videos from the attack said the
victims were prominent members of the community who were relaxing in the restaurant after returning from wedding and burial ceremonies.

Spokesperson of the state Police Command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the attack at a checkpoint.

"Generally speaking, any attack on any security agent is a
threat to the soul of a nation. Yes, there was a shooting incident at a checkpoint in Agulu but the information is still
sketchy," he stated.

The police spokesperson also said an enquiry about the
restaurant attack was ongoing.
