to pressing needs in the nation - The government plans to raise 20 billion naira by March 2017 - The government has several projects lined up for the funds The federal government of Nigeria plans to raise 20 billion naira by March 2017 to fund several projects as Nigeria continues to battle recession. Minister Mohammed says government will sell the bond in the first quarter The government and its officials have always insisted that the government needs a lot of funds to plug Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit. “We are on track to sell the bond in the first quarter, a sovereign, and could have another by the end of the year. “The exchequer can’t get all the money we need. That’s why we must leverage these innovative ways to get funds from the international community,” minister of environment, Amina Mohammed told Bloomberg on Friday, December 9. Earlier this week, minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun told journalists that Nigeria will issue its third Eurobond, worth $1 billion, in January 2017. Reports from Ghana indicate that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has won the nation’s presidential election. Akufo-Addo is projected to be winner after results from 206 constituencies has shown that he has taken an overwhelming lead over incumbent President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He is leading the presidential election, polling 5,513,357 votes ahead of Mahama who has 4,591,975. Although the national electoral body has not officially declared the results, it has been widely reported that Akufo-Addo has won the presidency on his third attempt. Recall that just like the case of former president Goodluck Jonathan in Nigeria, Mahama, rose from being the vice president to the position of the president of Ghana in 2010, after the death of Attah Mills. And after his tenure ended in 2012, Mahama contested and won the presidential poll for the first time. This was his second time contesting in the election. However, Akufo-Addo’s victory comes on the heels of demand from Ghanians yearning for change as a result of nation’s state of economy, Akufo-Addo’s NPP party also triumphed over Mahama’s NDC in parliamentary elections that also took place throughout Ghana on Wednesday, December 7. https://www.naij.com/1076870-ghana-election-akufo-addo-reportedly-defeats-mahama-declared-president-elect.html |

Residents of Joseph Harrison Estate,Yaba area of Lagos state have been thrown into panic after they got a letter from armed robbers today, December 7. The robbers notified the residents of their impending attack, adding that they want to collect their “dues” for the festive season. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the letter was placed on the vehicle of one of the residents and was discovered in the morning when he was about to wash his car. Part of the letter read: “We are coming this week to collect our dues and to visit you tenants and landlords of Joseph Harrison Street in the week. If you like go and bring police or soldiers, we are coming to perform our duties. “If you cooperate, we will not kill, but if you fail to cooperate, blood will flow.” Meanwhile, sterner security measures have been put in place in the area to protect the lives and properties of the residents. Chairman, Community Development Association, Mr. Bolanle Akinyemi, said the estate had enjoyed some peace for a long while as it was protected by guards and the police from Sabo Police Post. “We are also mindful of the slum that surrounds us and we have been conscious of suspected criminals. “No one has received such letter before, but there was a case in 2013 when a company in the estate was robbed,” he said. Akinyemi also said they have reported the threat to Sabo Police Division and more guards have been engaged at the estate, even as residents in the area urged the police to deploy more men to patrol the estate regularly. https://www.naij.com/1075805-write-letter-lagos-residents-demand-christmas-bonus.html lalasticlala |
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has revealed that the group actually carried out the assassination of some Islamic clerics and attacked the Emir of Zaria, Shehu Idris. Before the group clashed with the Nigerian Army, it reportedly held Zaria almost under control with the government accusing its leader of creating another country inside Nigeria. In a statement titled: ‘MURIC is neither pro-Shiite nor anti-Rufai’, issued on Wednesday, December 7, Ishaq Akintola, the director of the Islamic rights group, said: “Well-meaning Nigerians, particularly from the north where the impact of the group has been felt most, have sincerely intervened and thrown more light on the activities and status of the IMN. “Fresh information has revealed IMN’s attack on the Emir of Zaria, its alleged involvement in the assassination of some Muslim clerics, its lack of respect for constituted authority, its posturing as a government within a government, its alleged possession of arms, etc. “In the face of these fresh facts, we are obliged to incorporate the opinions of our members who are up-North. This is necessary in order to carry them along. Who feels it knows it. Those who live very close to the IMN must know IMN better. “Even while we are not holding brief for the authors of the allegations, MURIC wishes to state clearly, categorically and unequivocally that at no point in time had we been pro-Shiite. "Neither do we share any doctrinal identity with IMN. Our interest lies in the maintenance of peace in the Nigerian society and the need to avoid creating another monster like Boko Haram. “MURIC is as worried as every other Islamic organization about the doctrinal differences and heretic inclinations of Shiism. "But sectarian differences are not limited to Islam. Above all, we are gravely concerned about the self-imposed isolationist disposition of IMN in relation with mainstream Islam in Nigeria. "We are equally nonplussed by the group’s refusal to recognize officially installed leaders. These are big and questionable minuses for IMN. “In the light of the above, we affirm that MURIC remains committed to the goals and aspirations of mainstream Islamdom which has been pursuing peaceful coexistence, neighbourliness, tolerance, love, forgiveness and, above all, sacrifice for our great country, Nigeria under the umbrella of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).” Daily Post reports that MURIC urged the Shiite group members to retrace their footsteps in character and doctrine. MURIC added that the IMN needs better image laundering in Kaduna state and the north in general.” Advising that efforts must be made to avoid turning IMN into another terror machine like the Boko Haram, Akintola said: “Nonetheless, we stand by our word of caution. Everything possible must be done to avoid turning IMN into another terror machine. "What we need in Nigeria to get out of the current recession is peace. We also need peace for economic growth and political stability. We cannot afford another Boko Haram. “As we round up, we appeal to Governor El-Rufai to ignore IMN’s unnecessary verbal war against his administration, avoid further bloody crackdown on the group and concentrate on the good work he has been doing in governance. "We call on the Federal Government to investigate the serious allegation of possession of arms leveled against IMN. This will rest the controversy surrounding the labeling of IMN as an insurgent group once and for all.” https://www.naij.com/1076014-just-shiite-islamic-group-assassinated-muslim-clerics-attacked-emir-zaria.html |

The MMM image published on British Broadcast Corporation's (BBC) page, is a hoax - Investigations reveal that the image regarding a report on BBC's site was photoshopped BBC newsreader Nicholas Owen has revealed that the caption “MMM Nigeria Reduces Poverty in Nigeria by 20%,” which appeared on an image recently shared online and on social media is a hoax. SEE PHOTO: MMM image on BBC is hoax, says Nicholas Owen. The caption goes on to say that the “UK government advise Buhari lead [sic] government to use MMM to create jobs”. MMM, which calls itself “a community of ordinary people selflessly helping each other, a kind of the Global Fund of mutual aid” has been controversial in Nigeria. Its proponents say the community provides real financial bailout but sceptics say it is a Ponzi scheme. The image, however, is a hoax. Using Google reverse image search, Africa Check found that the original caption read “British hostage released: British national released after operation in Yemen”. Africa Check says they have asked the BBC to confirm this and will update the report, if they should respond. Meanwhile, the founder of Omega Fire Ministries International (OFM), Apostle Johnson Suleman, has told his members to disassociate themselves from the popular money doubling scheme, MMM. Apostle Suleiman said MMM is satanic and that those involved in it are demonic. Speaking during a church service, the pastor said: "Go and check the founder of MMM. He was a fraudster in America; defrauded people, and that's what you're involving yourself in and you are a Christian, looking for easy way out. Many Christians have gotten involved. If you are involved in MMM, I have to pray for you today. It's not of God. Any quick fix way for money is not of God because some people are being defrauded to enrich some other people. "Any quick-rich scheme is wrong. In life, everything you get if is not favour from a particular individual. If it's quick favour through a process, you will pay for it later. If it's a person you know that walked up to you and blesses you, take it. That's favour. But a quick business transaction that can bring a return of over 200 person, is not of God , '' he said. https://www.naij.com/1073156-mmm-scandal-images-of-nigerias-ponzi-scheme-was-faked-bbc.html

Igwe in a new interview revealed her bra cup and also disclosed she takes her bath three times a day. She also hinted on her lucky man.“My bra cup is 42c. I shower three times a day and I brush after a meal. That’s the much I can say." The actress also warns intending men off when she said she is in a very serious relationship that may get her lead to the altar. Be that as it may, she refused to reveal the identity of the lucky man, only disclosing that he is not an actor. Actress Shirley Igwe Igwe also explained why she can’t date an actor: “I would want someone with a different profession. Not like one can’t fall in love and marry an actor. If I wasn’t with my man now, I would be hoping to marry someone with a different profession. Marrying an actor has its advantages because he woul understand your work, unlike someone who is not an actor. Even at that, it’s not enough reason for me to marry a man because he understands. I see my fellow actors as colleagues,” she said. This beautiful actress had worked together with Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha as the principal protocol officer of the governor before abandoning it to be a full-time actress.
