Politics6 Takeaways From Buhari's Speech During 2017 Budget Presentation by boman2014(op): 5:11pm On Dec 14, 2016
The presentation of the N7.298 trillion 2017 budget with 20.4% increase over the 2016 estimate was scheduled for 10am but did not start till 2.18pm.

The 2017 budget was benchmarked at N305 against the US dollar ($1) with 2.2 million barrels.

The 2017 budget also sets a benchmark of $42.5 per barrel of oil, as against $38 in 2016.

Below are 6 takeaways from

Buhari’s speech during the presentation of the budget.

1. Building the nation’s economy
The president stressed the need for the country to focus on building the economy by producing more rather than depend on imported goods. He said for the nation to achieve self-sufficiency, more work needs to be done.

"I hereby make a special appeal to states to make land available to farmers," he said.

2. Increase the production of oil
Buhari noted that his administration was determined to get the production of oil back to at least 2.2 million bpd.

3. Infrastructure
The government will focus on the development of infrastructure, especially road and rail in 2017.

4. Power sector
He said this sector is experiencing funding issues though there has been an intervention. He said a provision was made in the 2017 budget to offset the country's electricity bills.

5. The war against insurgency
Buhari said his administration was committed to maintaining peace and security nationwide.
“We will continue to fortify our defence spending till all our enemies within and without are subdued.
“The people who voted for us are waiting for us to change the course of this nation,” he said.

6. Provisions in the budget
He disclosed that N100billion was allocated to the judiciary to allow them do their job with independence. Defence got the budgetary allocation or N140billion, water resources N85billion, interior N63billion, education N58billion, UBE commission N92billion, FCT N37billion and NDDC N61billion.

Buhari expressed optimism that the 2017 budget will make the lives of Nigerians better than it did in 2016.

This will be the second budget the president is presenting to the National Assembly. The first which was presented in 2015 was trailed by controversy. Buhari refused to give assent as the budget was said to be padded.

Jobs/VacanciesLai Mohammed: 1 Million Jobs Will Be Available In The Next 3 Years by boman2014(op): 6:08pm On Dec 13, 2016
- The successful digitization in 2017 would create at least
one million jobs in the next three years

- This was disclosed by the minister of information and
culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed

- Mohammed stated this at the 21st anniversary gala night
of Channels Television

The minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has
said the successful digitization in 2017 would create at least one
million jobs in the next three years.

The minister made the statement at the 21st anniversary gala night
of Channels Television, Vanguard reports.

According to Mohammed, the jobs would be created through the manufacturing of set top boxes that would be required for each of
the television sets in the country, which he estimated at 24 million.

His words: “These jobs will come from TV production. Digitization
will make it possible to have at least 180 state channels, 30 regional
channels and at least 10 national channels, catering for local music,
news, film, children programming and sports.

“The need for content to feed these stations will translate to huge number of jobs.

“The jobs we are talking about will come from film production,
VHS tapes to VCD and DVD, Nollywood will then move to Push
and Subscription Video On Demand on the STB and online,
bringing piracy to the lowest ever, making distribution cheaper
and easier and putting much more money into the hands of film
producers, who will create more films of better quality, ultimately
surpassing 2000 movies a year.

“The number of writers, lighting and sound technicians,
cameramen, editors, actresses, actors, insurance costume will
simply blow up.”

Digitization is the process of converting information into a digital
format. In this format, information is organized into discrete units
of data (called bits) that can be separately addressed (usually in
multiple-bit groups called bytes).

EducationNigerian Police Shoot At Unarmed Protesting LAUTECH Students (watch Video) by boman2014(op): 5:36pm On Dec 13, 2016
Some men of the Nigerian Police have been filmed
shooting unarmed university students protesting over
closure of their school.

The shocking moment mobile policemen shot at the students of
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State,
on Friday, while protesting over the prolonged closure of the
school has been captured on camera.

Three people were injured during the protest, while three others
were arrested. According to Punch, the unarmed students were
shot at while they were protesting on the Ogbomoso-Ilorin
Expressway over the prolonged closure of the school.

The university has been shut down since June 2016 over
ownership and funding crises caused by the two owner states,
Oyo and Osun States.

Since then, the Students’ Union Government of the school had
paid several visits to the Ooni of Ife, the Olubadan of Ibadan, the
Alafin of Oyo and other traditional rulers in the two states to help
them appeal to the state governments.

Meanwhile, to solve the problem of funding, there have been
rumours that the owner states were planning to increase the
tuition from N65,000 for students who are indigenes of Osun and
Oyo states and N75,000 for non-indigenes to N350,000
respectively.

As a result of this development, about 100 students took to the
streets on Friday to protest against the six-month closure of the
school and the rumoured increase in tuition fees.

During the protest, several policemen fired teargas at some of the
students, while shooting rubber bullets at others.

One of the injured students, Fawole Israel, said he was shot at
three times by the police while he was on a motorcycle.

He said, “The protest was meant to be peaceful, but the police
came and caused chaos. I was shot at three times. I fell down
from a motorcycle. While I fell down, a policeman used the butt
of his gun to hit me on the head. My head bled.

“We have been doing nothing for the past six months and this is
not helping us. We are about to lose a full academic session. That
was why we had to protest.”

A member of the school’s SUG who was also among those
protesting, Abdulfatah Oloyede, said the police injured three
students and arrested three others.

“Right now, we don’t know the whereabouts of those arrested.
The injured ones have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
The protest was meant to be peaceful, but the mobile police came
and caused chaos. They started shooting at students. This is
terrible,” he said.

Another student, Okedara Ridwan, appealed to President
Muhammadu Buhari to come to the aid of the students.

InvestmentReal Reason MMM Nigeria Was Frozen by boman2014(op): 1:05pm On Dec 13, 2016
Recall that operators of the scheme last last night, December 12, froze mavros on MMM stating that it’s action was due to panic and heavy anti-MMM reports by the Nigerian media.

But the scheme’s number one guider, simply identified as Chuddy, has come out to clear the air on the development.

“Hi Mavrodians, As we all must have seen in our PO of the news on Mavro frozen for a month.
This isn't the first of its kind. It happens when there are excess PANIC in the system,”he wrote on the MMM Nigeria website.

He added that the brief ban was also placed on Zimbabwe and after the duration it was lifted.

He revealed that the “idea is brought forward to calm the members down on intending threat the FG and Mass media has planned on the system.

“It doesn't mean that there is no more money in the system because in my PO now as a guider, I have about 2million+ PH orders. And I know it would be like that in most Guiders PO too.

So you see!!! Money to pay out
“But the Admins needed to apply measures to sustain the growth of the system. In order to fight issues that may arose as a result of Massive PH already this Christmas.” He said issues like uploading of fake POP, non confirmation of orders and the rest also contributed to the short ban on mavro growth.

“We all need not panic as our money is in safe hands. Check out your Mavros and you see your money is intact both for 30% bonuses and 20% accrued bonuses “You can keep PHing if you have the money, though you will definitely not be matched until Mavros are unfrozen. But that will really go a long way for you as your PH made this December will surely be giving you extra 20% after paying out next year.

PoliticsBomb Attacks: Adamawa State Government Set To Ban Hijab by boman2014(op): 7:09am On Dec 12, 2016
- The Adamawa state government is set to review the
use of hijab in the state

- This decision was taken following the recent bomb blast
in the state

Adamawa state government set to ban hijab

The Adamawa state government is set to consider a temporary
review of the use of hijab in security prone areas of the state
following the recent spate of suicide bombers.

Speaking on Saturday, December 10, Ahmad Sajoh, the state
commissioner for information and strategy revealed this.

Following the twin bomb blasts on Friday, December 9, in
Madagali market that led to many dead and injuries.

Sajoh
addressed journalists on the outcome of an emergency security
meeting.

The commissioner said the state governor, Muhammadu Bindow
would meet with members of Adamawa Muslim Council and
other stakeholders to discuss the possibility of banning hijab use
as a temporary measure.

This was because those that carried out the Madagali suicide attack
were in hijab.

He said the meeting also underscored the need for people to be
more vigilant during this festive period and in places like markets,
motor parks, churches and mosques.

“We also resolved in the meeting, based on security
recommendations, to assist members of vigilance groups in the
areas in view of their contribution to security agencies.

“We also want to appeal to the media on sensational reporting and
the need to verify their facts before reporting. The media need to
know that the terrorists are banking on such sensational reports,"
he said.

The commissioner said victims of the attack were responding to
treatment in Michika General Hospital and already, the governor
had directed all health personnel in neighbouring Hong and Mubi
Local Governments to move to the affected area.

“The state emergency management agency has also been directed
to give urgent support to victims and relations of victims.”

Foreign AffairsBomb Attack Near Cairo Coptic Cathedral Kills At Least 25 by boman2014(op): 1:32pm On Dec 11, 2016
A bombing near the Coptic cathedral in the Egyptian capital Cairo has killed at least 25 people, officials say. Dozens of others were injured in the blast at St Peter's church during a Sunday church service.

The church is adjacent to St Mark's cathedral, within the same complex.

Photos and video footage showed damage to the church, with shattered windows and broken roofing.

The explosion happened at 10:00 (08:00 GMT) on Sunday.

Video sourced by regional media appeared to show the interior of the church littered with broken and scattered furniture, along with blood and clothing on the floor.

"I saw a headless woman being carried away,'' one eyewitness told the Associated Press. "Everyone was in a state of shock."

"There were children. What have they done to deserve this? I wish I had died with them instead of seeing these scenes,'' she said.

Egypt's Coptic Christians make up about 10% of the country's population.

St Mark's Cathedral is the headquarters of the country's Orthodox church, and the home of its leader, Pope Tawadros II.

By lunchtime, a crowd of protesters had gathered outside the cathedral complex. Police kept the area tightly cordoned off.

On Saturday, six policemen were killed when a bomb exploded on a main road leading to the pyramids at Giza.

The explosion, at a police checkpoint, was the deadliest attack on security forces in Cairo in over six months.

A recently formed militant group called Hasm said it carried out the attack.

Egypt's Coptic Christian minority have complained of discrimination in the mostly Muslim nation.

Two people were killed outside St Mark's cathedral in 2013, when people mourning the death of four Coptic Christians killed in religious violence clashed with local residents. In February this year, a court sentenced three Christian teenagers to five years in prison for insulting Islam.

The teenagers had appeared in a video, apparently mocking Muslim prayers, but claimed they had been mocking the Islamic State group following a number of beheadings.

Egypt has pursued a number of blasphemy cases since the country's 2011 uprising. Many of those cases have been against Copts.

The government of President Sissi came to power following the overthrow of Mohammed Morsi in 2013. It outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood, and has been battling insurgent Islamic groups ever since.

Most of the militant attacks have been focused in the Sinai province, where an IS-linked jihadist group is active, but Cairo has also suffered a string of attacks in the past two years.

Christianity EtcRe: Three Sacred Things We Christians Abuse. by boman2014:
RoyalGoat:
TITHING: It may not be that obvious, but tithing is sure a sacred thing as far as God is concerned. But well so well not what Christians understand it to be.
Tithes are meant to be paid by farmers and farmers alone in the then land of Israel. This is because the Levite had no land to cultivate, no portion was giving to them. So speaking, to do what God as always wanted for humanity, he commanded a tenth of 'farmers' produce to be given to the Levite so as to prevent lack in the land. The Levite had no land to cultivate, but our pastors to be do. They have places to work.
Payment of tithes in churches should serve a means of providing for everyone's need in the church. This, the apostles understood by distributing every thing the church had to every members. To live and survived, the apostles like every one else, worked with their very hands.
Of course there are more, but these ones concern us the most. We have the prophets, Psalms and the law, let's read them and learn the truth for ourselves instead of disgracing ourselves and God. And if we fall into the 'grace only' category, then let us study the acts of the early church and save ourselves from this modern hypocrisy.
CC: OAM4J
@OP, How is it possble ?? When yor Bible says

1. Deuteronomy 14:23
“Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always.”

The Bible says EAT your tithe?
