Set a loving, positive, structures, moral environment for them. Most children's perspectives etc. are foudationally set in the first 5 to 7 years. Spend a lot of one-on-one time with them interacting, teaching, listening, asking questions, hugging.

Financial tips to help reduce costs of parenting

Don't go out to eat. Cook all meals at home. No artificial meal. Most truly fun things are free: going to the beach, art project at home, reading stories under a blanket with a flashlight. etc. I have money but I maybe spend $200 a year total on my kid's entertainment / activities. 95% of what they do for fun is free. Also, if you have two children of the same sex, save the older cloths, shoes, etc. for the younger ones. Buy nearly everything used. Kids don't care of anything is new or used. Expect everything you give them to break or the child to destroy it. The best things are also shared memories, not "stuff" given to them.
