I spent half a decade @ Warri and guess what? I could not keep pace with new slangs that seemed to be debuting per sec. and talking about pidgin, their's is like Nigerian version of queen's English - It was always music to my hears. I could listen to Waffi folks "yan" all day long!!!

As per the thread I sent, it is your very first contribution - the unusual thing you did for love. It was not that that led to change of name though but it led to the change of motive behind the name.

Good to know that you are better and please stay strong. Do whatever you need to do to remain connected. We all have such moments of diconnection, and if not properly managed those on the other side could take advantage no matter how brief. You may want to try and see if there exist a pattern like: when (day & time) you feel like this, what you do prior to this time, etc  then fix it before it gets to you. God will continue to keep ya on the narrow road.

As per age, adult is adult but to help submission and respect and from personal experience I will NOT recommend older women for men, even if it a day's difference. When the couples involved do not know, they flow as in they just play their different roles. But as soon as they know, the flesh takes over and both of them may not be able to help it.

I wouldn't marry a man 5 years younger than me. I'm afraid that I will treat him like a child and I do not believe any man (no matter the age) deserves that kind of treatment. I guess it's all in the human psyche but I would prefer to marry an older man. My choice could very well have stemmed from my junior high school experiences. During after school lessons, the boys in class were practically in "heat" every day and wanted to get in every girl's pants; only to write the names of their victims the next day on the wall, with illustrations of their pubic area on display. I'm sure you can imagine how such images could affect a 14 y/o girl at the time. I generally think older men (having already been there and done that) have a better sense of control. My future husband will be at least 10 years older than I am and no more than 12. I've got it all planned out. FYI, I do realise that some older men could act as kids, therefore I do not base my decision on age alone.

Yes, they believe all ladies in church are clean and holy. And you know what? most of the time they end up with women with the same motive and then they all start to blame God for their misfortune. It is the Spirit of God that makes the difference in us. Seek and marry a woman/man that is being led by the Spirit of God then your days on earth shall be like in heaven.

There is nobody that cannot change so far the determination is there. Besides, responsibility is the key to changes. I have seen guys that back in school their routine was sleep, watch film, party and female hostel. They only came to class to write tests & exams and that was if they could not get "machinery". But marriage changed all that as they had to sit up and live up to their new reaponsibilities - talking about another essence of woman in man's life.   However, there are die-hard revellers that marriage make no difference in their lives. So, I guess it is a 50-50 chance depending on the individual involved.

On a lighter side, a man once had a wife that was bent on becoming a celebrity and she joined several clubs against her husband's wish. She eventually died of stress/exhaustion from nunerous endless club activites. Guess what her husband put on her tomb stone - "CLUBBED TO DEATH"

what I think of Deuteronomy 22:5?

Well, I would look at it in the context of the time in which the Israelites lived. There were under the law and Christ has redeemed us from the "curse" of the law (not the blessings-please note, we believers are still entitled to the "blessings" of Abraham).

. . .  so I guess I can rip off my old testament. Don't mind me. . . .  Your explaination is one of the three I have and still looking at.


This goes back to my orig point-If we are now under a new convenant, such bans must not be imposed on individuals. However the individuals themselves need a change from the inside out. What is being preached in the pulpit should be Spirit led and should convict the congregation of such things.

I agree with ya fully, deasrest . . . it's the people that should change out of their own conviction.

This has aways been controversial - whether female should wear pants or not. All the folks that are against it have always qouted deu 22:5 as backup. I have three different interpretations for that verse. What do you folks think about it?

Meanwhile, concerning RCCG and most other churches, what I have noticed is that those people that dress in un-godly manner are NOT members of the church. When I say member, I mean the devoted ones. Those folks that come in unacceptable dresses only come around with ulterior motives. I hope the ban will reduce them a bit. On the other hand, would this ban be in effect in the church's branch outside Nigeria? especially in cold regions like Canada where temp could drop as low as -30c?

Not neccessary, but please let your dressing be presentable.  I remember my school years when some bros used to come and preach in my room, and they came shabbily dressed. The best they got from me was pitiable looks and I never for once listen to them. If you belong to a denomination, follow the laid down standards; if the standard it to wear suit and tie to preach by all means don't do otherwise.

Outlandish women who attend the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) are in for trouble as the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has banned them from wearing trousers to church.

The man of God, popularly known as Daddy G.O., decided to shed his garb of softness and impose punitive measures on female worshippers who always wear skimpy dresses and tightfitting trousers to church.

Adeboye was said to have warned and threatened to sanction female members who flout the order.

The General Overseer’s riot act to female worshippers was published in a recent bulletin of the church.

The enforcement may begin at the RCCG annual convention which is going on at its Redemption Camp, Km 45, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway where millions of worshippers gather for the annual event.

Until recently, a large number of women who wore trousers to the church were tolerated in their quest to attract male worshippers.

Unknown to these women in skimpy dresses, they had unwittingly divided the RCCG into two camps: the conservative worshippers on the one hand and the radical ones on the other. The radical ones are the modern day worshippers who feel they could wear anything to church, no matter how skimpy it is, while the conservatives are the old time Redeemers who still keep to the standards in the Bible in their mode of dressing and general comportment while in the church.

P.M.News gathered that it was in a bid to sanitise the RCCG that Daddy G.O. decided to ban women from wearing trousers which is offensive to other worshippers.

Adeboye’s ban coincided with the ongoing onslaught by the police against women who wear trousers and skimpy dresses on the streets of Lagos.

The police onslaught is also to sanitise the state and discourage prostitution and commercial sex workers who often habour criminals and other anti-social elements.

Hnmnm! Lots of contributions have gone forth but not one single reference was made to Him that designed and built the intricate body of the female and for a purpose, and yes! FOR A PURPOSE, placed the hymen where it is! Our creator is a God of purpose.

So, please let us lay aside OUR reasons for desiring virgins or remaining virgins for a moment and think about WHY God, after making the female genitals, placed a "sentry" at the entrance. A better understanding of God's perspective on this issue will, I'm sure, will lead many to change their opinions about their desire/detest for virginity.

For me, I definitely want a virgin and that is to fulfill God's purpose.

I congratulate you and rejoice with you as you moved from a sinful Christian to a Spirit filled one - you've simply become a fire brand . How awesome is our God Can you imagine Him forgave you, cleansed you, and filled you in one clean sweep? You have just witnessed the Agape love of God! God saw your genuine repentance and how you rend your heart before Him and He blessed you with exponential growth.

Bro, three things to address now:

1. Please be aware that you have been baptized with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. When you gave your life to Christ you received the Holy Spirit in a measure and at baptism of Holy Ghost you experienced the fullness/overflowing of the Holy Spirit which led to the "speaking in tongues". I understand how you feel right now because I know once you have tasted a true experience of fullness of the Spirit you will definitely want it to last forever . Unfortunately (because we sincerely covet it ) or fortunately (because we cannot stand it if it becomes permanent), it does not work that way! One cannot dictate to the Spirit when to or not move. However, as Olowotee said in the second paragraph of his post, draw closer to God and continually spend quality time with Him and he will always respond with his magnificent presence. And, always remember the Holy Spirit is always dwelling in you both when there is an overwhelming experience and when you don't even feel anything at all.

2. At the level you are now, it is very dangerous to fall back or backslide as the case may be. Why? See the two scriptures below and pay particular attention to the words in solid fonts:

Ezekiel 3:20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Matthew 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

44[b]Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out;[/b] and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

45[b]Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself,[/b] and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

You may want to go through the complete chapters for better understanding. In a nut shell, if one backslides one goes into a worse state as exposed in Matt 12:45 and if one dies in his sins God will NOT remember one's righteousness. How terrible! My prayer for you is that your latter end will be glorious than both your past and present.

Verse 44 of Matthew 12 will lead me to point three which is what you should do next.

3. Seek the gift of the Holy spirit. Now that you have the fullness of the Spirit, ask for His gifts - Read 1Corinthians 12. The gifts will take you even to higher realm. A fabulous book that I have come across with a good insight to the Holy Spirit and His gifts titled "The Holy Spirit and His Gifts" by Kenneth E. Hagin" will be valuable to you at this point in time; you will in addition get a comprehensive explanation of the experience you had with references to scriptures.

Finally, be aware that discouragement will come in several ways and in different forms. May God that has cleansed you and filled you grant you grace to continue to be holy and keep your feet steady on this narrow road.
