dinma007: We have just received news that popular health advocate, Blessing Timidi-Digha has lost her two kids, Itunu and Damilare in a fire outbreak.
According to sources close to the Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR) for adolescent girls advocate, Blessing lost two of her kids to fire in a day. A Fire Response team that was to respond to the fire allegedly said there was no water.

In 2005, Blessing Timidi-Digha started the African Girl Child Development and Support Initiative (AGCDSI) after she got pregnant at 17 and almost committed suicide on two occasions.
At 17, Blessing Timidi-Digha was pregnant, single, and overcome with shame. Because Nigeria remains largely conservative and religious; sex is hardly discussed, and sex education is absent from many homes and schools, she quickly became the subject of finger-pointing.
According to a report on the advocate, it was the lowest ebb of her life, and even led her to two suicide attempts. But with her parents’ support, she gave birth and returned to school.
Her experience made Blessing realize the dearth of available information on sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) in Nigeria. So AGCDSI was born.
May God give her and her family the fortitude to bear this loss.

Danladi Ciroma, the Chairman, North Central zone of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), has reacted to the recent attacks on Plateau villages by suspected herdsmen where over 86 persons were hacked to death.
DAILY POST reports that Plateau Police Command on Sunday confirmed the killing of 86 persons in the attacks on Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government.
Ciroma in a statement claimed that the attack was in retaliation of the killing of over 300 cows in the last few weeks by the villagers.
He said despite the efforts of the state government, some criminal elements hiding among their people were still frustrating the peace efforts.
“These attacks are retaliatory. As much as I don’t support the killing of human being, the truth must be told that those who carried out the attacks must be on revenge mission.
“There have been recent reports of cow rustling and destruction of farms between Berom farmers and Fulani herdsmen. The people carrying out these criminal activities are well known to the communities but the communities are hiding them.
“Fulani herdsmen have lost about 300 cows in the last few weeks – 94 cows were rustled by armed Berom youths in Fan village, another 36 cows were killed by Berom youths. In addition to that, 174 cattle were rustled and the criminals disappeared with them to Mangu.
“Since these cows were not found, no one should expect peace in the areas. Even soldiers that went after the criminals to recover the rustled cows were shot by the armed rustlers and eventually escaped with all the cows.
“The government of Governor Lalong has done a lot to restore peace, but the criminal elements hiding among their people are the ones frustrating these peace efforts.
“Though the security agencies have tried, they need to do more by being fair to all parties; they should not neglect any report presented by Fulani of Berom because such report can lead to attacks and deaths if not properly handled.
“Criminals thrive a lot in Berom communities, but when the Fulani, who are always victims of their crime, react with attacks, they blame the government.
“These communities have leaders, why hide the criminals? They should fish out the criminals and hand them over to security agencies to avoid death of innocent ones.
“As it is today, the Berom man cannot go to farm, the Fulani cannot breed his cows in Berom Land. This can be stopped if the security agencies do more than what they are currently doing. The attacks will stop as soon as the security agencies stop Berom youths from stealing Fulani cows” he added.
PrettyCrystal: No fewer than 120 persons were weekend killed in several villages in Barkin Ladi, Mangu and Riyom local government areas of Plateau State in fresh attacks by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen, while over 200 others sustained gunshot injuries.
Pictured is a lucky woman who escaped death and survived the attack by the assailants. She is currently at an undisclosed hospital where she is receiving treatment.
However, Commander of the Special Military Task Force, Major General Anthony Atolagbe, last night confirmed that 56 persons were killed.Major-General Atolagbe, who spoke from the bush where he was directing operations to apprehend the perpetrators, also said three of the killers had been arrested, adding that they confessed to participating in the killing.
“The suspected killers have been giving useful information about others involved in the killings and their hideouts. We are going all out for them.
Also, troops have been deployed to ensure normalcy is restored,” he said.The scale of destruction in Plateau, which also led to burning of houses, compelled the state government to declare a dawn-to-dusk curfew in the affected local government areas to stave off further killings.

This incidence was due to negligence but leveling criminal charges against them is a no no. The parents are grieving,if only one can feel the pains they are going through now. The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who is also the community leader, who was on his way from Sunday service, met the situation and immediately directed that the boy should be taken to the hospital for proper treatment from the serious injuries inflicted on him.

Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori also directed Sheriff Oborevwori Foundation Scholarship/Bursary Committee Chairman, Chief Mrs E. E. Onokpasa, to award scholarship to Chigozie to University level to enable him continue his education.
He said the Scholarship will run till the end of his university studies. He also promised to ensure the well-being of the child.
The police later whisked Mr Akpa to Orerokpe police station.

14Ebiscoo: Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has denied ever writing any petition to the Department of Security Service DSS, which led to the arrest of his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam.
There were reports in some quarters that Ortom had written the security agency, fingering his kinsman over the killings in the state.
Ortom, while reacting through his spokesman, Terver Akase, said the report linking him to Suswam’s ordeal was totally false and should be discarded.
The governor insisted that he had no reason whatsoever to petition the DSS.
He said, “We wish to categorically state that Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom did not write a petition which led to the arrest of former Governor of the State, Gabriel Suswam, contrary to some media reports.
“Such reports are false, misleading and mischievous.
“The Benue State Government has written a petition against leaders of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and has filed a lawsuit against the group. The State Government has evidence to prove that the socio-cultural organisation is responsible for recent attacks and killing of innocent people in the state.
“Those peddling the allegation that Governor Ortom is behind the arrest of his predecessor are doing so to cause disaffection and create a state of confusion.
“The Ortom administration will not be distracted from its commitment to get justice for victims of mindless attacks on the state.
“We urge Benue people and other Nigerians to disregard the reports.”
