bryner: Reno Omokri tweeted this in reaction to the faceoff former Education minister, Oby Ezekwesili, had with security agents at the state house yesterday during her solo match against the repeated killings in many parts of the country. Ezekwesili was heading to the state house to demand immediate action of the president to stop the killings and bloodletting when she was accosted by security agents who attempted to seize her placard. Reno says no Nigerian should feel sorry for her because she helped to bring this government into office.

fabinfos: Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday declared that President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the review of the operations, working strategies and total overhaul of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, popularly known as SARS.
Osinbajo made this declaration Tuesday evening while responding to question raised by one of the participants at the Oyo State edition of the Youth Town Hall Meeting held at the Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
DAILY POST reports that the town Hall meeting was attended by hundreds of youths from Oyo State, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state and members of his cabinet, among others.
The VP while confirming that there have been several allegations of uncivilised manner of operations, harassment, intimidation of many innocent Nigerians by SARS operatives, disclosed that the squad would not be totally banned in view of security challenges.
Osinbajo said that the President being a listening person, had ordered the review of their operations in order to meet up with the expectations of Nigerians.
Osinbajo said, “Regards to the question regarding End SARS whether we are going to ban them or not, President Buhari has ordered the review of their operations and very soon this will be done.”
He noted that the need to retain SARS was necessary due to the role they had been playing in the protection of lives and property across the country.
Osinbajo said, “We must have a force to protect the lives and property of the people, you know SARS is Special Anti Robbery Squad, though some of them have been engaging in some activities contrary to their mode of operations.”
Osinbajo maintained that one of the goals of the present administration was to ensure that all Nigerians had food on their table at the appropriate time.
He noted that this necessitated the home grown school feeding which is responsible for the feeding of 8.2 million school children in a day.
He said, “Malnutrition is one of the problems among children, that is why, we said no child should go hungry, we are feeding 8.2 million school children in all the states where we are implementing the program. In Oyo state, in all the primary schools across the state, we are feeding 230,000 primary school children in a day.”

EmagNig: The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Command in Adamawa says some youth in the state now utilises human urine to intoxicate themselves.
The state commander of agency, Mr Yakubu Kibo made this known Tuesday in Yola in his speech to mark the 2018 UN International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Kibo said other new items abused include dry pawpaw leaves, dry plantain leaves, burnt tyres, as well as a solution made from tom tom sweet and lacasera drink, Guardian reports.
“It is important for parents to know and pay attention to the recently discovered substances of abuse like dry paw paw leaves, tom tom in lacasera drink, 10 days old human urine, methylated, spirit in coke drink, dry plantain leaves, burnt tyres among others,” he said.
While describing drug abuse as a rampaging fire that does not discriminate, Kibo called for collaborative effort to create a drug free society.
“For the drug war to be successful, the supply and demand reduction must go hand in hand.
“To that effect, from January to date, the Adamawa command has seized 2,742.358 kg of assorted illicit drugs,” he said.
Kibo said the seized drugs included cannabis sativa, tramadol tablets, cough syrup with codeine, diazepam tablets, exol-5, pentozocine injection and codeine tablets.
He also said that a total of 67 suspected drug dealers were arrested within the period under review out of which 26 were convicted and sentenced to various jail terms.
In areas of counseling and rehabilitation, Kibo said 20 drug addicts were counseled and rehabilitated within the year.
He listed lack of operational vehicle, inadequate staff, poor funding and hostilities by some communities as the major challenges facing the agency in the state.
A man identified as Chima Amadi has revealed that Former governor, Gabriel Suswam, who was recently arrested by the Department of state security services, DSS, once engaged in a gun battle with Fulani Herdsmen.
Amadi, took to Twitter to narrate how Suswam also predicted that President Muhammadu Buhari would have him arrested. PoliticsNGR has gotten his tweets, read them below;
Suswam stilled his look at me and took a deep sigh and said “Doc, I am certain that Buhari will arrest me very soon, not because of any corruption but because he knows I know too much about these killings. He won’t stop the killings”.This was in 2016 but first a background. Thread
I was just settling down in London in 2016 as a Chevening Scholar at the London School of Economics when I got a desperate call from a friend who is from Benue. She was weeping and told me stories of ongoing massacres in her village by Herdsmen with no one reporting them while
CSOs and influencers went silent. She said no one wanted to speak up cos they all supported the new govt of PMB. I informed her that I also campaigned and support the govt but that was no reason to condone the kind of murders that she just described. I promised to get back to her
And started surfing the net for any information on ongoing killings in the Benue. True to what she told me, information was scanty with only untrustworthy blogs and citizen reporters alluding to anything of the sorts. The Benue state Gov Ortom himself was singing the praises of
The new govt. knowing who this friend was, I knew she was not one to raise a false alarm especially when she had told me that five of her uncles in the village had already Benn hacked to death. She sent me picture evidence via WhatsApp. I made some calls back home but most
The usual vocal voices were not interested. The opinion then was that the outgone govt of GEJ messed up and it would take time for things to come back to normal esp as there were signs that the Boko Haram terrorists were being repressed and overwhelmed by the new admin.
However, when I saw more pictures and videos, this time of pregnant women being disemboweled by the herdsman and some local youths engaging in Cannibalism( roasting and eating a herdsman), I knew I had to act. I flew into Nigeria the next week and started putting in place
A CSO Colloquium on the crises . My approach was to use my networks and connections to get prominent figures from both divides to come speak in a nationally televised event. The Sec-Gen of the Miyyeti Allah is someone I have known very closely for over 20 years.
I then reached out to some Benue Citizens and that was how I contacted Gabriel Suswam, the former Gov of Benue state. After a few hiccups we finally met late one night in his home. What he told me was chilling. Due to National Security concerns I will not reveal certain aspects
Of our discussion, but he was very bitter. He said during the transition between GEJ’s govt and the incoming PMB administration, he was summoned to the Villa and GEJ took him to the then President -Elect. GEJ told PMB in Suswam’s presence that he wants only one favor from PMB
He told PMB that he didn’t care if he was probed or if his administration’s efforts at national development was reversed but PMB should please do something for him. According to Suswam,GEJ informed PMB that the brewing Herdsmen crises could eclipse the BH insurgency in its
Ramifications and implications for national cohesion and that if not tackled with expediency Nigeria may not recover. He said he had set up a committee chaired by Suswam to travel round the world looking for solutions and that they now fully have a plan that can resolve the issue
Once and for all. He begged PMB to invite Suswam for talks and to look at the recommendations of that committee. Suswam told me that he was made the Chair of the committee for an incident that happened in his state. Sometime in 2014, herdsman had sacked whole villages, killed,
raped women and burnt farms and homes of communities in rural areas in Benue. He said he didn’t believe the reports he was getting until he started seeing refugees pouring into Makurdi. One day, he mobilized his entourage which included policemen, press, soldiers and others
And proceeded to see things for himself in those communities. He said when they got to a few kilometres to the village the soldiers in his convoy, acting on instructions from HQ refused to proceed any further but he insisted on continuing. Ten minutes into the trip all hell was
Let loose. They were ambushed by Herdsmen and a battle ensued. A barrage of gunshots was unleashed on them from all sides. He said there were over 100 well-armed Herdsmen shooting at them. Done in the convoy retreated but he was already in the middle and so decided to fight for
His life. He took an AK from one of the retreating mopol men and with a few others that remained with him faced the Herdsmen fire for fire. He told me he was a trained marksman having lived in the US. In the process, two one of his security aides were shot but they continued
Fighting until the Herdsmen retreated. He said he left for Markurdi and returned the next day fully prepared and saw how villages had been taken over by cows. This time, the Herdsmen didn’t shoot him and some of them pulled out their phones and were snapping him. He decided
There and then that if he did nothing Benue would be overrun. He took actions that saw to a curtailing of the actions of these killers. It was against this backdrop that GEJ made him the chairman of the Committee. I am tired now. When I get some rest I will narrate the encounter
Between Suswam and PMB and why the latter feared for his life. keep a date . Sorry for any typos pls.
zoba88: Earlier today,I reported that Oby Ezekwesili embarked on a sole protest in Abuja over killing of innocent citizens in Plateau State by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Below are photos of security agents harassing Oby Ezekwesili.Unconfirmed report also has it that she came to court in solidarity with Senator Enyinnanya Abaribe.
A group of security operatives attached to the Presidential Villa Gate in Abuja on Tuesday harassed and manhandled a former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili.
Ezekwesili had embarked on a solo march to the State House to demand for accountability and end to the violent killings going on in the country.
The protest was brought to a halt at the Presidential villa gate when the security operatives stationed around the gate manhandled her while struggling to retrieve her placard from her. The attempt, which was vehemently resisted by the Minister, led to commotion as the Police kept dragging her.
Journalists covering the melee were not spared, as their phones and cameras were seized by the security operatives.
Speaking during the protest, Ezekweili said;
"I am addressing my message to you as the President and C-in-C of Nigeria. I am addressing my DEMANDS to you as that one individual bestowed with the powers of centralized command and control of our security institutions and personnel to enforce the provisions of Section 14 subsection 2b of the Nigerian Constitution (As amended) which states that 'the welfare and security of the citizens shall be the primary purpose of the government,'"
Six of the 12 demands she highlighted in her message to the President are:
(1) Putting an end to the endless killings by herdsmen going on in the country
(2) Revealing the identity of the perpetrators of these wanton killings in Benue, Taraba, Kaduna, Zamfara, Plateau, Nasarawa and Kogi states etc
(3) Justice for the victims of violent killings across the country and secure the living in all parts of the country
(4) Ending the ineffectiveness of the security establishment
(5) Ending your loyalty to the Service Chiefs
(6) Stopping the blame game and confusing statements on the killings of the citizens.
Angelanest: Pictures have emerged showing a Fulani family which were allegedly killed some weeks ago by Berom tribe in Plateau state. There have been accusations and counter accusations following the ethnic-religious crisis which saw over 100 people killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Plateau.
While some say the attack was a reprisal attack due to the attacks on Fulani indigenes and their cattle in the area, others are arguing that Fulani herdsmen raided the just to kill the villagers and steal their goods.
Yakubu Yakx shared an interesting report on the Plateau killings as he blamed the security operatives for doing nothing to prevent these attacks.
Read below;
Just when we thought everything is over, the enemies of peace and Nigeria are at it again. But to set the records straight, let me breakdown some details of how things unfold that led to the recent breakdown of Law and Order in Barkin Ladi LGA and environs. These unfortunate incidents led to a full blown tribal/religious crisis in Plateau North Senatorial District. In the past decade a lot of crisis erupted in Plateau State, people have moved on in some of the areas, but why are we still having crisis that is leading to loss of lives and property in Berom Land? Governor Lalong should deal with these issues decisively, some people are out there to cause trouble just to discredit the Government at State and Federal level.
If you think I am joking drive a pickup van with cows in the trunk and pass via Kassa, Heipang, Mararraban Foron, Marraban Jama’a, Anguldi or alternatively through Nafang, Fan, Bisichi, Foron and Du villages and see whether you will come out alive, the hatred is too much and incomprehensible.
Some people stay on the highways and give their allies details of vehicles conveying Fulani Men or anybody that looks like them taking their cows to the popular Kara (COW Market) in Bukuru (Jos South LGA), once they pass through any of the two routes coming from Mangu, Pankshin, Bokkos and other LGAs through berom they block them, lynch them and rustle their COWS.
The below unfortunate events took place all within the month of June 2018.
1. On the 8th of June Four young Fulani men coming back from Kara Cattle market in Bukuru were shot immediately after Kassa Hill Military check point, less than 2Km from the check point.
2. Over 300 COWS were rustled between Fan, Dorowa and Jong Villages of Barkin Ladi LGA and Kadunu/Langai villages of Mangu LGA, when Military were sent to rescue and recover the COWS they received strong resistance from the armed Berom COW rustlers with even reports of some security men losing their lives. Up to date they’ve not been recovered.
3. On 12th of June at around 8pm some Fulani people of Quanpan LGA of plateau State coming back from Bukuru Kara market were shot at Kassa hill before Barikin Ladi LGA secretariat unfortunately one of them lost his life.
4. On June 13th a minor Jaafar Salihu herding his parents COWs, was killed at Nding Village also around Kassa hill and they removed his head till date the head wasn't recovered, he was buried like that
5. Then the last aggression took place on Jun 21st at about 6pm Some Fulani men Bala, Lawal and Ibrahim Kuwait on their way coming back from Kara market in Bukuru were shot, killed and their vehicle was set ablaze at Heipang village to be precise inside the railway round about, pictures attached.
6. A day after Sallah Jun 16th 2018 at about 14:00 hours some Hausa Boys of Barikin Ladi town driving a Vectra Opel vehicle with reg number JJN 54 CF heading to Mangu LGA narrowly escaped death with minor and major injuries and the car wrecked, as Berom youths launched an attacked on them in front of the Military Check point, what’s their offence? Ans: They are Muslims and the berom youths want to avenge an attack on some villages made by Fulani herders.
7. On Saturday 23rd Jun 2018 the people of Mangu blocked the highway and said nobody is going to pass until justice is done to one of their men that was killed in a Berom community between Dorowa village and Mangu Hale, until his demise he was a butcher and he went to collect his money from one of his customers he gives meat, he was simply killed because he is Muslim, is he a herdsman?
I blame the Men and Officers of Operation Safe Heaven for their poor handling of the following issues that took place in Barikin Ladi and environs, had it been they acted promptly this avoidable incidents would’ve been averted. I call on the security to be up and doing, they should deploy modern techniques in managing attacks and counter attacks if not the carnage will probably continue until the realities on ground are rewritten to reflect the reality of modern war.
Instead of reflecting on why the current strategies are not working, FFK, CAN, TY Danjuma, Jerry Gana and their associates have an opportunity to pour out the anti-Islamic venom on an issue that is purely criminal. Facebook online commentators will follow along the same path. If they are not abusing the ‘clueless’, ‘certificateless’, ‘Boko haram sponsor’ etc. at the top they are attacking Islam for being a jihadist, blood-spilling religion.
dainformant: A Video is currently trending online showing the moment a young man was rescued and arrested after allegedly jumping inside a lagoon in Lagos in a bid to kill himself. Rescuers at the Lagoon were swift to rescue the troubled young man after jumping into the water.
When he was being rescued and arrested, the young man (in black shirt) was shouting, 'let me just die, you people should leave me alone, what is in this life'.
He was later taken into custody by the authorities in order to determine what led to his suicide attempt and also prevent him from killing himself.
An eyewitness, Chiekezi Dozie shared the footage on Facebook as he wrote; There are too many people trying to commit suicide in Lagos. When did suicide become “a thing”??
FraNKAPP: I'm frustrated. This is the third time that I'm facing this issue. I don't know what I did to my village people.
Why is it that anytime I cook Egwusi soup, the soup will divide itself into two? The egwusi/vegetables/ingredients will go one side and the water will go the other side. Out of frustrations, I have finished the meat and I'm about to get rid of the soup now. I don't know what else to do. I'm frustrated.
Please, my people, I need your help urgently. How can I make a good Egwusi soup that the ingredients doesn't quarrel with the water? If you have the step-by-step guide on how to make a good Egwusi soup, please send it to me because that's my favourite soup. Make me, *Frank Umeadi* happy, please.
Note: This does not mean that I'm not a good husband material o. I'm just preparing myself and I believe that no time is late.
Thank you so much as I await your positive response.

Omooba77: Zayyan Gwandu, son of Haliru Gwandu Abubakar, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Special Anti-Robbery, has died.
Zayyan was one of the victims of reprisal attacks following the killings in three local government areas of Plateau State by suspected herdsmen.
Popular social commentator Gimba Kakanda shared the news of Zayyans death on Twitter, writing: “I’m devastated to learn about the killing of Zayyan Gwandu in the Plateau clash. He’s one of the travellers stopped and killed for sharing a religion or ethnicity with Fulani herdsmen. Killing fellow human beings for the wrong of people they don’t even know is savagery. Wow. RIP.”
Subsequently, Kakanda wrote on Facebook: “Citizens getting stopped and killed for sharing an ethnicity, religion or culture with criminals they don’t even know? Is this the overflowing anarchy we call a country? Of course I know what we have done wrong, Nigeria. Millions of things. We are here because we have been pretending that we don’t notice these killings and destructions until the victims begin to seek an illusion of justice in the wrong place.”
Although Kakanda refrained from revealing the identity of the deceased, SaharaReporters independently verified that he was CP Gwandu’s son.
“Yes, it is true that the CP’s son is no more,” a source very close to the Gwandu family told SaharaReporters, before asking to say no more as “this is a trying time for the CP’s family”.
Zayyan’s death marks an elongation of a very difficult period of time, personally and professionally, for CP Gwandu.
The SARS, which he oversees, has recently come under public scrutiny on account of the high-handedness and criminal activities of its officials. Following the relentlessness of the anti-SARS campaign, Gwandu was forced to announce a repositioning of the squad.
In December 2017, he announced that the Nigeria Police Force had begun the process of dissolving the federal and state SARS into one unit that would be under the supervision of the commissioners of police of each command.
He said a lot of changes had taken place, and that there would be training and retraining of personnel of the unit to enhance efficiency. He explained that after the re-organisation, the unit would only concentrate on violent crimes such as murder, armed robbery and cultism. He also promised that at the completion of the ongoing re-organisation of the unit, extrajudicial killings by SARS would be a thing of the past.
Some months before then, Gwandu had been forced out of Edo State as the CP, following intense campaigns by citizens and a coalition of civil society groups over the rising crime rate in the state.
The reprisal that claimed his son was a reaction by Christians to killings of about 100 people by suspected Fulani herdsmen in many villages in Riyom, Barkin ladi and Jos South local government areas of Plateau.
Before the news of CP Gwandu’s son’s death filtered in, a source in Plateau had lamented the under-reported reprisals, telling SaharaReporters: “I lost four friends on the road; they were butchered. Birnin youth were killing all Muslims on the road. One of them clearly picked my friend’s phone and said to me, ‘We’ve killed him. Are they not the two Muslims in E-Class?’” http://saharareporters.com/2018/06/25/police-commissioner-charge-sars-loses-son-reprisal-killings-after-plateau-%E2%80%98herdsmen%E2%80%99
Fulani should stop placing more value on cow. Imagine the killing 150 humans because of 300 cows.
