I've been here for 11years and I've not stepped my foot in Nigeria so sometimes my response might be a bit harsh but you know, I'm quite conversant with issues at home even more than a lot of people in Nigeria.
I decided to go back home in 2004 but my parents were like finish your education and then I thought ok, I'll finish, I completed my masters as well last year and then I thought ok, time to go home, but when you read the news all the time and it's all negativity, I thought then maybe it's not yet time to take that step. Coupled with the fact that I have a very good job here and I feel recognised at work meanwhile, I'll need some desperate connections in Nigeria to get that kind of job because at home; things are based on whom you know and not really what you know.

But I've spent almost half of my life here anyway, so it still feels like home, maybe if I have your status, we'll not be saying the same thing and I might just be educating the Nigerian public and gearing them all up for change.
Back to your question I'll pack my things and return home the day you stop supporting Dapo Lam Adesina.

Okay, let us go to Anambra.  A businessman from Anambra donated enough money to fix the roads in Anambra.  I have not seen it yet but my mother did, she traveled to Nigeria last year (2008) and according to her Anambra roads were clean and fixed
If the Anambra businessman decided to denounce his citizenship, then at least we would have known he did something to benefit Nigeria.
The poster seems to be worried about living in Poverty. I've been to many countries and I’ve met a lot of Nigerians in those countries, I’ve never seen a Nigeria in any country including the one I’m staying in (America) that would stand up and say "I live like a rich man in this borrowed country".  I have seen a lot of  Nigerians in America and in Britain complaining on how much they work, just so they can make enough for their family.  Does the poster actually think if he leaves Nigeria and migrates to another country then everything is peachy?  Does he actually think life isn’t hard in other countries?  
One thing I learnt while living in America is the community tries to fix there self up even if the government refuses to fix them.  I have seen people start charities to pick up trash on the street or burning those trashes.  Hell, my high school ROTC class was involved with one; it is called "Adopt a Spot".
I've seen many Nigerians complaining about the trash on the street of Naija and it makes me wonder how many of those Nigerians that I’ve complained had started a charities just to keep the streets clean, either by burning the trash or picking one up.
Let’s take another Naija state for example.  
Calabar was labeled the cleanest city in Naija and one of the cleanest in Africa.  While reading the article I saw pictures of old women sweeping the streets of Calabar with regular broom.  It seems the citizens of Calabar are not waiting for the government to take care of the city, they decided to do it their damn self.  
When I visited Naija in 2004, I remembered in Enugu early in the morning, people that are going to work would actually stop and set the trash lying around on fire.  I remembered the smell, it stuck but it helped keep the street clean.
Anytime I see a Nigerian complain, the first thing I think about is what has he/she done to improve living in Nigeria.

Anyway, like someone said before, the poster has every right to his opinion.  I doubt any of us would miss him.  I know I wouldn't.

There were a lot of natural resources in Africa that Hitler wanted to exploit. There was also a plan made early in the Third Reich to remove all the Jews from Europe and move them to Africa.

Mussolini had a lot of troubles after conquering Ethiopia and consolidating power in Libya and he declared war on Britain in 1940. Hitler had finished Belgium and Poland and was near to the end of the war in France when Mussolini joined the Axis. Mussolini decided to attack the British in East Africa (The East African Campaign). When the battle turned against Mussolini Hitler sent in troops to Africa and the rest is history.

Hitler felt like he could do with Africa once he subdues the powers of Europe, Asia and South America. He was willing to depopulate Africa and hunt down the last Jews therein. Hitler did want world domination but Africa was last on his list because it would be very simple for him to conquer. Bush at least never wanted world domination. Though he caused an unjust war in Iraq but he still gave a lot to Africa in terms of aids and if you research very well, no American president has ever given to Africa as compared to George Bush (and that’s not to say I’m a fan of George Bush).
At least some people would miss George Bush (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7821449.stm) , while I doubt any country misses Hitler, in fact Germany is still struggling with the tarnished image of the past.

Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of black soldiers that fought in the French army and Hitler had no trouble in wasting them all.

The question Nigeria would one day answer as I read from someone is, would we realign ourselves through a silent democratic revolution as was the American Obama case or will it be another bloody revolution as we have seen in history usually attendant to groups that feel that they have lost their voice.

For your info, Virgin Nigeria have suspended the flight route of London-Lagos indefinitely. This I found out when my brother tried to get a ticket and they told him to get his ticket fast else he might miss out.

If you check his previous posts on other threads, he once asked a question on how to become a professional footballer and now he wants to know what to do with his Politics degree (assuming he finishes and I hope he does). All in all, I think the poster is confused and just needs a direction from someone.

@ poster, if you are reading this, please go and seek proper counselling from at least 3 different people and then make a choice that you think is good for you. Better still, you might even have to quit that university you are attending and answer your destined call (which only you know). Don't waste your talent in the name of getting a degree as it's not meant for all and you could still succeed without one.

Continental Airline has finally abandoned its proposed direct flight to Lagos, Nigeria and is planning to fly to Beijing, China and Delhi, India, according to airline officials.

"We have not pursued this (Nigeria plan) further since the indefinite suspension early in the year. We have been working on other new routes like our new flights from Newark to Beijing and Delhi," said Martin DeLeon, Continenal Airline spokesperson.

A special assistant to Nigeria's aviation minister, Sam Adurogboye, blamed the airline and the US government for the suspension by deliberately ignoring a letter of inspection and auditing sent to FAA and Continental Airline, a pre-requisite for issuing the required license to operate in Nigeria.

Adurogboye wondered why Virgin Nigeria with 49 percent British ownership and 51 percent Nigerian interest would be turned down by America to operate in the country.

Without elaborating, Julie King, another spokesperson for the Houston based Continental Airline said the service between Newark and Lagos has been suspended indefinitely due to circumstances beyond the airline's control.

Continental Airline was scheduled to begin a daily flight from July between Lagos and Newark Liberty International Airport outside New York before it was suspended in April because of the 49 percent interest of England based Virgin North Atlantic.

Britain and US have bilateral agreement on the number of airlines from both countries that could land yearly, and the 49 percent interest of Virgin Atlantic would alter the number in favor of England which allegedly forced US to refuse landing rights to Virgin Nigeria.

But Adurogboye explained that the imbroglio has nothing to do with Virgin Atlantic. "It is none of American business to tell us the kind of business we do or who we do business with. If they have problem with Britain, that is their problem. They cannot dictate to us whom we want to have partnership with," he said angrily.

The Nigerian special assistant said plans for Virgin Nigeria to ply the US routes is not on the table but stated that plans are underway to explore the possibilities.

The Continental spokesperson hinted that the sixth US airlines may have eventually abandoned a flight to Nigeria in preference to China and India."We have not pursued this further since April," Julie King said.

It will be recalled that American Trans Air (ATA) is yet to return to the Nigeria route since 1994 after US severed flight relations with Nigeria following the annulment of Nigeria's presidential election won by late Bashorun M.K.O. Abiola in 1993. In 2002, the now defunct Nigeria Airways resumed direct commercial flight between Lagos and New York on a leased aircraft from South African Airways only to stop operations after a short while.

Ritetime /World Airways again operated direct flight from New York, Houston and Dallas for a while before again stopping the operation in December 2003 after abandoning thousands of Nigerians visiting home for the new year festivities.

I think you're being too harsh on this guy and at the same time taking his point out of context. He has even done poured out his sweat in forms of charities (see my second post on this thread) and he said he does not expect any reward nor did he even make what he did public. He said,

I'll give you a case-point, my flat mate while I was in the university works as a night security guard though he holds a degree from a polytechnic in Nigeria. We normally discuss politics and times wthout number, he's been very frustrated that he mentioned joining the British armed force if they were meant to fight Nigeria and even kill his fellow Nigerians because he feels that country has sold out and he feels like someone in the UK (even though he's an illegal immigrant).

I don't think it's fair if what you could point out is the line where he poked fun at his own accent beause my guess is probably as good as yours - and that is, the article is probably written out of frustration and annoyance.

It takes more than balls for any sane person to just wake up one day and say it's over for the country I so much cherish (though I don't know if he ever cherished the Nigeria as a nation) but I could tell this guy loves Nigeria but he's human and feels he cannot keep talking to stones in the bid to make a change (as in the case of the failed rally he organised), even he says my musings are tinged with a deep regret.

It's not just a dangerous and stupid comparison, it's also very foolish and irresponsible. How dare someone make this kind of comparison in this day and age?

Though I feel his pain as this piece represents the feeling of "most Nigerians". I'm not even sure which way to sway. Support the country, the people (including me) or just sit on the fence.

This is very hard hitting and from the comfort of my seat, I feel very powerless as a Nigerian. This is just too real to accept that a fellow citizen could feel this way. Oh God, I'm short of words, I've never been touched by a piece this powerful.
