Hello Peeps,

It's really annoying to see Nigeria being shown in the wrong light every other time and I always get to go online to check how such cases end. For example on BBC there was a program on watchdog about a couple of Nigerians trying to scam innocent prople who are just house hunting and basically trying different means of ridding these people off their hard earned cash. See the link (http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/).

There also seems to be a couple of websites around and though they are meant to be laughing at the scammers, at the same time they are more like portraying Nigeria as the home of scam basically.(www.419eater.com, http://www.scamorama.com/bankscam.html ,scambuster419.co.uk: where 419 scam artists meet their match, http://www.spikynorman.dsl.pipex.com/index_date.html ).

Has anyone stubled across websites like these? What do you think when you go through the site? Personally, it makes me sick but at the same time I can't help to laugh as it's all comedy through satire in my own eyes.

I guess you'vge not been inflicted by the disease of many so-called Nigerians (and I'm not pointing at anyne in particular), as most NIgerians would rather fdie for Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U etc and they have no affiliations and even if you live in Manchester (like I do), how does that still affect me because I still carry the green passport anyway, so why the hell would I be dying for a British club? I read on BBc also that 10 Nigerians dies when Man U went to play Portsmouth in Abuja, I pity my country!!!

Yeah, support your club and make them richer at the end of the day, they don't give two bleeps about you, it's still known as a British Club,

I'm ready to assist in whatever capacity to help combat fraud in Nigeria. But I'm afraid it can't be done. Why? The same reason why AIDS cannot be cured.
Fraud in Nigeria is now a syndrome. And the very instruments that are supposed to be defending it (The family institution, government, religiuos bodies etc) have been destroyed by the virus

My heart bled when I realised that majority of Nigerians don't seem to know the difference between wrong and right anymore.

Or how else can you describe a situation:

Where a father gives money to his child to go and 'block' his way through school and on graduation organise a big party for him/her.

or where a 'yahoo-yahoo pig' goes to the church to give thanksgiving for his newly bought car.

Where merit has been slaughtered on the alter of 'connection'.

Where agberos command more respect than the police.

Where the police people 'cannot live' without collecting N20 around street corners.

Where the few credible people can't contest for election and win.

Where human life is accorded no value.

Where people don't know their rights no more.

Where government has turned into confraternity in the name of Godfatherism.

Where people cannot do a single thing right except told and forced to do so.

Where the most powerful and influential youth leaders in the Niger Delta are all Millitants. These are the future leaders of
the region.
I'm a Niger Deltan, but when I look into the future I can't help but say 'woe betide Niger Delta!'

At times, I feel like the world should stop so I can alight. I'm the most patriotic Nigerian, but I will leave the country with the first opportunity that presents itself. Where to? Maybe Ghana, maybe Cotonou, maybe Uk, maybe Australia, maybe Dubai.

Oh Boy, this is serious and I'm not laughing at you neither do I envy you one bit, but I pray you get out of that mess and God helps you in getting out of that mess of a country called Nigeria. Seriously, it's that bad. I've been away since 1999 and have never been back. People told me that things are not that bad but I just have never read anything positive about my country. Don't believe in people saying otherwise about the developped countries because even if you work as a cleaner, thuogh you might be taxed heavily, I guarantee you would still have savings and the basic amenities of life because I've been through that route before and now I thank God for this life I'm living because I'm in a professional job working as an engineer.

But overall, I hope your dreams come true because you are definitely not insane but that land environment is driving you nuts and I suppose people around you would understand.

Most of the Naijas in this forum appear to come from the same mother. The rudeness is unbelievable. So, I have resorted to speaking my mind. They DO!!

I think the state governor should first berate his fellow governors especially those with the highest number of indigines in the state or those with little or no qualifications, for not providing conducive environment for their people!!!

There is too much focus on lekki and victoria island region; the government should invest in social housing in new towns
with good transport links whereby people can wont feel they have to struggle too much to get to their place of work or business

In terms of transportation, the government can introduce stringent and higher M.O.T requirements for vehicle owners and even more stringent and more expensive vehicle license with compulsory insurance for transporters within the states, this wa thousands of cabu cabu (rickety cabs) and molues will be forced to quit the road or move to ogun state then introduce alternative- clean conducive buses, metrail, ferry etc

more areas should be assigned business, residential and industrial districts, that way people are not struglling with coca-cola trucks on their way to school or banks operating in residential areas who usually don't have (adequate)parking space for their staff and customers

Introduce city centre charges like N1000 to drive through a particular area where there are sufficient alternative or even different routes and if you are the only one in a car or minivan you should be charged N2000 - underutilisation of capacity between 8am-11am and 4pm-7pm

commercial building should be forced to build parking blocks to accommodate 1/4 of their office or shopfloors

and they should stop allocating land like there's no tomorrow the houses should be built like those in London- shoesize!!!

and pavements/walkways/sidewalks seems many of the contruction companies don't know what this is, it's not exactly expensive to include this in their proposals!!

Oh Boy, seems you live in London. Where are the infrastructures in Nigeria to implement the congestion charge and the likes that you've mentioned in your email?
