@smiley001, You did so well with the supply. I'm happy! |
wanaj0:It's okay sir. We will open up the drainage. There's never a plan to block the drainage. The weak concrete slide under the truck. Hence the reason sand was used to fill the portion to allow accessibility. At least for now.
|
Today in pictures. Site store now ready for use.
|
peaceland:Haa! We can't block the communal drainage. The sand will be removed from gutter and proper drainage will be constructed. There's plan to reconstruct the entire drainage. The current one is weak. |
Another big preparatory work that is now done was delivery of steel shutters for the ground beam. Everything is getting set for the Big Day when we break the ground and start fitting things.
|
Browne Mews Now Ready for the foundation. See the wooden pegs where the house will be. And reinforcement work progressing nicely.
|
Horlawoomey:Amen and thank you. |

Yesterday in pictures Borehole installation.
|
Yesterday, being the first day of work at the site, the guys worked incredibly fast and before I knew it they were already putting a roof on the store, preparing steel reinforcement for the fence and the building, drill the borehole and got clean water and the first loads of granite made it in.
|
The second job was to improve accessibility into the site. With last rains, the labd is softer and as a result couldn't support the weight of NextHome Dump truck. But trust me, we got it covered! One of fifteen truckloads of sharp sand we budgeted for this stage of construction was used to make a nice ramp for the dump truck. In a jiffy, the issue was resolved.

Ground Breaking News Since last week a lot has happened. So many months of planning, waiting and worrying have finally started to bear fruit. Such a relief for the client who cannot wait to see his dream come to reality. The first job was heartbreaking but necessary: we had to unload some roots and shrubs sitting in the building area. We lost about 4 dwarf palms and and some stubborn roots in the process.

Oga spyder880, don't play into the hands of these people o. If you pay this, trust me many more are coming. Someone in overseas (Mogadishu) will say his/her family was not duly compensated and that's how they'll begin. At such time like this, your toughness is required. You're not going to fight and you're not going to laugh with anyone. @subscribers, pls be patient with my Oga. It's just a matter of time. |

^^^ @lastpage, Good that you know this. A lot of intending property owners needs to be schooled about this. Building a house is not only about cost, it has techniques and foolproof ways to success. Till date, land urchins at various sites I've worked still call me names like "small body, big engine", "see-and-pay", "oga nla" and many others. Why? I knew my way out of their tricks and trust me I want to get them outta way so as to do my job without delays. However, the bigger rogues are the ones in charge of approvals in the estate offices but trust me them sabi their Oga. Where necessary, I always school them and even get the management to bend rules or make exception rules. I'm sure guys at Diamond estate, Sangotedo, LKH, Ikota, Cooperative Villas, BADORE will always remember there was a builder who will not give up or succumb to outdated building regulations. |

Estimating material requirement for the DPC @Sir EgunMogaji site. I'm more comfortable using metres than feet. So, let's convert the building into metres. Overall area of the building footprint 50' x 80' or 15m x 24m = 360m2 Overall area of the building footprint less the Courtyard 360m2 (Footprint) - 45m2 (Courtyard) = 315m2 Volume of Concrete required for the oversite 315m2 x 100mm (4in thickness) = 31.5m3 Assuming we are using 1:2:4 mix ratio Constant___________ Quantity of Cement required For a 1:2:4 cement mixture, divide the volume (in this case 31.5m3) by 7 to get the resulting number of 4.5m3 of cement required for the project. Therefore 4.5m3 / 0.035 = 128 bags of 50kg cement. ____________ Quantity of Sand required For a 1:2:4 mix, divide the volume (in this case 31.5m3 by 7 to get 4.5m3 and multiply by 2 (which is the ratio of sand) to get 9m3 which is the quantity of sand required for the project. To get tonnage, divide 9m3 by 0.654 which gives about 15tons. Allow for shortage, wastages while transporting/transferring sand and those sand that will be stucked in the mixer. Buy 20 full tons. _____________ Quantity of Granite required For a 1:2:4 mix, divide the volume (in this case 31.5m3 by 7 to get 4.5m3 and multiply by 4 (which is the ratio of sand) to get 18m3 which is the quantity of granite required for the project. To get tonnage, divide 18m3 by 0.654 which gives about 28tons of granite. Buy 30 tons! ________ Oga, Abeg no ask me how I got this figures o! Head nearly blow to work this out. With 1:3:6, you'll use less quantity of cement (90 bags or thereabout). The same quantity of sand/granite should work. |
EgunMogaji:Oga, I'll do the calculations later. Need to prepare for church service now. I've finished typing and everything disappeared when I wanted to click the submit button. |
@FastShipping, cement too much. Stone dust no go reach. Granite is fine (assuming full quantity is delivered) cc: EgunMogaji |
Nice plan. Nice build. Nice budget. |

Lafarge Holcim | Squash Court by NextHome Background A clubhouse built in the 1970s. In the 1981, the squash court was added. However, no significant improvements have been made to the court for approx. 35 years. Now, we have the opportunity to upgrade the facility. I have always been interested in trying new things in the various fields and familiarising myself with the rules and regulations guiding the game. At times, it may require playing squash in my Aldo shoe just know the requirement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4odjuK5DsPI _______ Video: Playing the Professional Double Yellow Dot Ball.
