Alimosho General hospital Igando is a very good hospital. They attended to me very fast even though i didn't do my ante natals there. I must say thank you to the LASG.

Yes the injection in the spinal cord was very painful. mine was very painful because they couldn't get the fluid . I ended up having a plaster at my back after several piercing to heal the wounds. I dunno if other women had theirs as painful as mine. But i must say it's better to have the injection so that you can be awake to see your baby and stay awake during the operation.

For the disparity in the fee for surgery,it's not actually the same price. If you did your ante natals at the hospital,you pay N47,500. If you were referred from a PHC,you pay N70,500. If you just came on your own,you pay N80,500. The fee is called "Theatre Pack". There is another fee which is different for drugs and it costs about N13,000. There are other fees for series of tests and post natal drugs.

Having a CS at a government hospital in Lagos is not really cheap but i think it's ok compared to private hospitals.

CS is painful only for like two days then after that,the pain will ease off slowly.

@all mamas, i have a weird question i've been scared of asking. But i know you all won't mock me too much. Is it okay to swallow your routine drugs with eba?
I can't stand drugs in my throat. The only one i can manage to swallow with water or drink is folic acid. As for the rest, i just put them inside eba and use soup to swallow it. Been doing this for months now. I hope the drugs will still be effective?

Lol.....fear fear. No be only you dey fear the drugs o. Taking mind with ordinary water makes me want to throw up easily so I devised a means of taking it. I take it with a cup of milk.

My EDD was on the 23rd of this month. I registered at a Primary health care near my area and when i was asked about my previous pregnancy if i had any, i told them i had a CS before though i lost the child 5years later. I was told bluntly that I cannot give birth at the PHC so they referred me to Alimosho General hospital Igando. I refused to go because of the horrible stories i have been hearing about government owned hospitals so i registered in a private hospital.

Fast forward to my due date, due to the high cost of CS in private hospitals, i had no option than to go back to the government hospital to register. Though the doctors at the private hospital had told me i would have another CS because my baby was breech. Registering at General hospital 3days to my EDD, the doctors confirmed the same thing.

Honestly,i was marvelled when i visited Alimosho General Hospital and saw what was there. Kudos to Fashola.

The doctors at the government hospital booked me for CS on Tuesday that's yesterday when I registered last week Thursday. Luckily for me,i started contracting last week Friday so i had to rush to the hospital.

The surgery was done on 23rd January after battling with finding fluid in my spinal cord for three hours. This was to make me awake during the surgery. The doctors had no option than to give me anaesthetic which made me sleep.

My son was born around 3am and he didn't cry. After several beatings he cried faintly. He was admitted immediately but to God be the glory,he was discharged yesterday after several tests were done on his which confirmed he was medically fit.

By today,we both will be discharged.

About the cost of CS in the hospital and the disparity,i will talk about that later.

Thank you for sharing. You were truly favored by God. I hear stories of how Govt hospitals can be harsh and rude to pregnant women who didn't register with them for antenatal but came to them at the last minutes but you were quickly attended to. That injection in the spinal cord, I learnt it's very painful. How was urs like? And how are you finding the CS wounds? Is it really painful?

Teamie, your own better oo. You are gradually feeling better. Me am not oooo. Weakness, hungry but when I see food I can't eat, sleeplessness and fever starting again. Your EDD don come pass me ooo ....imagine. mine is 11th August but am praying baby comes days earlier so it will coincide with our anniversary! Wanted to do the roll call by February or so to be sure all our team mates have crossed the 12weeks Mark. I can't wait to pass this stage and get to that stage most people say they don't even remember that they are pregnant. ...Thank you for asking of me.

I'm rhesus neg too . Was given rhogam injection after delivery. Bought it at the clinic there 10000 naira (Epe general hospital 2011). So don't worry you'll be given after delivery

I was diagnosed with fibroids (which have given me no issues apart from the odd cramp) before I got married. It didn't delay conception or affect my pregnancy in anyway.

Mine wasn't blocking my cervix and I was told I would get vaginal delivery. I was also so sure I would get a V-birth because I had checked my scan results with different doctors and I kept on bugging my midwife to refer me to senior consultant gynaecologist (which she did) and they had all assured me the fibroid wasn't an issue. In fact by my 7th month, the fibroids weren't visible on the scan.

However, during labour, my baby got distressed and I had to do an emergency c-section. It had absolutely nothing to do with the fibroids.

So just relax, pray and enjoy your 9 months journey and don't stress yourself with the fibroids. All that matters is you and the baby alive and well.

No wahala. ...Will closely monitor it. Doctor said a monthly scan where it's size will be measured will confirm if it's degenerating or not. I am open minded sha....VB or CS ....as long as my baby is healthy, beautiful and intelligent and am in good health too! Marching forward. Thanks for the reassurance. ...God bless

Just a flat screen tv with extremely clear pictures for you to see...I could see everything myself very clearly. I could see LO jumping around like a bird who is running away from being caught with the placenta. ..I could also see the fibrod myself. And the EDD was exactly the one I had calculated myself. You can go for the 3D scan at 12weeks. Why am worried about the fibrod is because the Doctor says it's too close to the cervix and if it does not degenerate as the baby is growing, it might prevent me from having a VB as it will block the cervix

I finally went for a 4D scan today. First I must say God is wonderful. ...see a little baby jumping up and down . Tears almost ran down my cheeks . Summary of report goes this way: cardiac activity present, fetal lie -unstable, placenta location -posterofundal, not lying low, fibroad masses present - an oval hypoechoic mass measuring 3.31 ×2.81 cm is seen in the anterior myometrical wall just above the cervical region. It has cystic degeneration within it.
The fibroad seen seemed to ruin the joy in my heart especially with its location. [color=#990000][/color]

I need help from everyone in d house. i think am 5 weeks + pregnant, this is based on my own calculation though. Been d first pregnancy, i really do not know what to do, expect or avoid. i will appreciate your help. The Doc i met said i shud come back by 3 months, he wasnt really patient to explain what to expect and avoid to me.
i want to know if i shud avoid certain food as Stew prepared by me repulses me always?
i feel nauseous but never threw up for once?
i will like to know if i can still have sex (not deep penetration) with my husband as we are newly wed?

Congratulations on your positive result. If you know the date of the first day of your last menstruation accurately, then you can tell how many weeks you are. Just count how many weeks from that day till today to get the number of weeks. Start eating lots of fruits and vegetables but avoid pawpaw and pineapple at this stage. Reduce your junk consumption. People's system react differently to early pregnancy so you cannot be sure which symptoms you will experience until you actually start experiencing them. The symptoms ranges from weakness or tiredness, always feeling sleepy, insomnia, high temperature esp at night, vomiting, always feeling hungry, lack of appetite, frequent urinating ,abdominal pains etc etc. You may experience some of these symptoms and you may be fortunate not to experience any one of them! ! You need to start taking folic acid immediately on a daily basis to help your baby form properly, I think the quantity is 400mcg daily ( other mamas will confirm that for you). You can start taking your pregnacare immediately. You can go to another hospital to see another doctor who will be willing to counsel You even at this early stage. I saw a doctor at 6weeks. Please educate yourself too using google!! You can't be showing with just 5weeks pregnancy. Since you are putting on weight generally, some of the fat maybe deposited on your stomach too making it bigger. I am in the same shoes like you as I don't enjoy food I cook myself. ..I prefer another person cooking.It's part of the pregnancy package.
Other experienced mama's in the house are here to advise you too. Welcome once again...and be active on the thread.

This my team mate wey don leave me go far...chai. Went to antenatal clinic where I registered. The gynae only used hands and measured my tummy, I was disappointed cos I was expecting him to order for a scan for me. So 11weeks now not done a single scan. He told me to come back in 2weeks time. Not sure I can wait til then ooo ..I intend going to do it on my own today. Hubby says am not showing yet but my jackets are not comfortable again on me if I button them completely, am not also comfortable with skirts and jeans on my stomach again ooo. So everything is won under the stomach on my waist. I feel more comfortable on leggings than jeans now. I didn't want to start showing too early. ..dollar rate too high to start buying clothes now oo.

Apart from the pillow I use for my head, I use another one I raise my left leg on when am lying on my left side. Truth be told, there are times I just deliberately turn to my right side cos of pains on my left hands and shoulders. ... e no easy oo my Sister.

I presume that hospital is a private hospital, they might just be after making the money damning all the risks involved, come to think of it, why did the doc change his mind all of a sudden? LUTH). They have the best consultants there, they are usually many and even brainstorm on issues if need be! God bless you and grant you a safe delivery

Unto the next one........ I use my blender to peel my beans yesterday and girl, it was fast and clean. My blender grinded it into smooth paste and the moi moi came out yummy (DH wei dey use brain avoid my moi moi after I Bleep up one time like that don declare say "rice has to go with this your rebranded pattern of moi moi) I blush tire.

Why are you scared of eating? Fear of vomiting? If you vomit every time you eat anything no matter what it is, then you may need to see a doctor. Have you tried eating in bits but eating very often? Have you tried fruits too ? Try cereals like corn flakes or rice crisps with enough milk as soon as you wake up....it's helping me ...
Sorry tho...I have problems sleeping at night but I console myself by telling myself it's a phase and it shall pass
