Buhari should ensure that the clueless, inept and useless Mohammed Bello of FCT is not reappointed. That man will continue to bring backwardness to Abuja. Public infrastructure is in a sorry state, no street lighting, dirty environment everywhere. Clearly the worst Minister of FCT ever. He is not even capable of running a local government well not to talk of a state. His lack of performance is one of the reasons buahri did badly in the FCT in the presidential polls.

Good day people.
I have not been able to find anything clearly stating arrears for NITEL/MTEL. I saw a line item of 60billion naira though for pension arrears. It didn't state what kind of pension arrears or who would benefit.
Just said to report back. Cheers.

@theowane: the struggle continues. I guess we need to scrutinize the 2019 budget to see. I would download it though it is over 1300 pages. I truly hope something was put in there to settle even if part of the arrears.

I expect the former finance minister would have put in something for that purpose, given she is one of us but we can't be sure of that.

Would report back if I gather anything. Barka da Salah.

About the arrears, is there any indication that any amount was included in the recently signed budget for the purpose of settling Nitel arrears. I checked through the budget and didn't see any vote for that.

Does anyone have any info on that?

@FK001: breaking bad is a slow starter. Just try to endure the first season which is not too remarkable. I felt this way when i finally forced my self to start it because of it's super rating and legendary status as one of the greatest shows of all time. You will start to be blown away from the second season.

From the third season, you would be highly gripped. Prepare for sleepless nights.

Trust me. You won't be disappointed in breaking bad.

According to PTAD on their Twitter page, arrears or bulk payment to qualified pensioners would be done when government releasws money for that purpose.

I hear the nitel reps are lobbying for some arrears to be paid next year.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by brosiye99(m): 8:42pm On Dec 07, 2018
@daewood: I doubt if what you mum received is payment to NOK. It is obviously monthly payment. You would have to complain to PTAD cos it seems they wrongly placed your late dad on monthly pension when he is supposed to be paid a bulk sum from the last pension buy out of 2011\2012 paid by BPE. If he benefited from that last one then count from then to when he died. E.g if he died in 2016 for example, he will be entitled to 4 years pensions paid in bulk.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by brosiye99(m): 10:38am On Oct 03, 2018
As much as I agree that bulk payment would be better, we must all agree that the year 2006/2007 was the best time to have pushed for bulk payment not now. Nitel/Mtel was the experimental Guinea pig of the government’s privatization project. You all will recall that Transcorp paid a poor sum of just 500 Million US dollars for NITEL which was a gross under evaluation of NItel/Mtel at the time, though Nitel had massive debts and liabilities owed especially interconnect fees to other operators and there was virtually no money in the pension fund because Pentascope who met over 18 Billion naira in the pension fund in 2003 and squandered it with the direct supervision of one current big man with big mouth in Nigeria. (If you know you know). Story for another day.

Therefore, even the money Transcorp paid for Nitel was not even enough to pay for disengagement and retirement benefits of Nitel staff and pensioners in 2006 hence government had to add funds to pay the pension buy out for 3 and then 5 years.
Even during the liquidation of Nitel, the process of selling the assets of nitel was done fraudulently and the assets were undervalued. AN example is the NECOM house in Lagos was old for 4 Billion Naira in 2011 to Dimeji Bankole’s father.

NEPA/PHCN staff knew what happened to Nitel hence their successful push and negotiation for 20 year pension buyout. Mind you, they had the government at the balls and could have disrupted the privatization processs and unbundling of the PHCN. Nitel/Mtel in 2005/2006 had no such influence and power. Government was able to pay them over 350 billion naira pension buyout because a lot of money was realized from the sale of the DISCOS and GENCOS (over 2.5 Billion dollars compared to 500 million dollars for Nitel).
What I am saying is that in this current clime and government, bulk payment would not succeed and that is the truth.

If you say Nigeria Airways own worked, but their own is manageable. Nigeria Airways has just about 4,000 ex workers and pensioners with a total of 45 billion naira to be paid. You all know how many Nitel be which as at 2005 was over 11,000 workers and over 4,000 pensioners. The estimates to pay nitel/mtel 20 year pension buy out as at 2014 was estimated to cost over 200 billion naira. It would be hard for government to pay that now hence the approval by Buhari to pay monthly which would be managebale for government.

FACTS ARE SACRED. 20 year pension buy out would not succeed now or in the future. If some people are dreaming of that, then well let them keep dreaming.
I would prefer bulk payment but I am also very realistic.

Former nitel/mtel staff Mrs. zainab shamsuna Ahmed is to oversee the ministry of finance after kemi adeosun's resignation. I believe this is good news for us all. she is a nitel pensioner so understands our plight. her husband is also a former nitel staff.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by brosiye99(m): 1:09pm On Sep 13, 2018
The more the days go by, the more uncertainty regarding when the payment will come. I have tried to ask around including inside PTAD and the story is the same; we will be paid soon when government releases money. Nobody in PTAD wants to say anything about any timeline. This is really worrisome.

@Sternprophet: BH are truly adept at propaganda that you would have to agree that they're being directed and coordinated by people who have full expertise, knowledge and experiences in all types of warfare. The BH boys being sent out to battles are just the cannon fodder.
To your point on Tucanos and army aviation, when will they arrive? Tucanos won't be here till 2020 and army aviation may start showing up from 2019. We also were to get 3 Tucanos from Brazil. Now that the US has agreed to sell the Tucanos, i believe we should get those 3 Tucanos as a stop gap to increase CAS together with the Mi-35's, F7 and Alpha Jet.
We can't wait till then before this vermin of BH is summarily dealt a death blow once and for all. We should be looking at some capabilities to improve on quickly e.g purchase more MRAPS, IFV and area saturation artillery guns including rapi fire mini-guns

Just heard that Oluti and his co travellers such as Makinde came for PTAD verifications verifications verification for monthly pension.

I was just laughing. why did he come for verification? why didn't he wait for pension buy out of 20 years. greedy and selfish man. The pain Oluti and his group has caused, karma will catch up with all of them. deceiving people for selfish gain. no one is wishing them well.

This ship has sailed since...........
ATEN are just rabble rousers and time wasters to those who are gullible to listen and agree with them and believe me, there are many uninformed people who are following them. We know how they prey on these poorly informed people and even collect money from them as dues while deciving people with bogus judgement and promises. They don't know the untold amount of people they have sent to early graves with their LIES, LIES and More LIES.

THIS IS NIGERIA....

If you ask them to show you the court judgement that said NITEL/MTEL ex staff are to be paid 20 years Pension Buy out they will tell you another story. Let someone here ask them to show us the court judgement. Sensible people won't be losing sleep over ATEN. Who is ATEN?

Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by brosiye99(m): 12:17pm On Aug 02, 2018
F-16 is a single engine (one of the best fighters of the 4th Gen era) and even the 5th gen F-35 is a single engine. What we should be looking at is the maintenance costs. Twin engine aircraft are actually much better if you can afford them but their maintenance costs are very high. Can Nigeria have lets say 12 Su-30/35 that would can be regularly in the air. I doubt much.

What matters in any warplane is not the number engines but the sensors, electronics suites, weapons and i may add stealth.

Still we must also note that twin engine jets such as the f-22 Raptor is always having to be maintained even after a few hours of flight time costing the USAF millions of dollars annually for just one F-22. That is why the Raptor hardly flies except in special cases. That is also why the F-16 gets more work load and sorties than some of the heavier twin engine 4th Gen planes in the American arsenal such as the F-15 and F/A18 Hornet

Its about practicability and useability rather than prestige in my opinion.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by brosiye99(m): 11:28am On Aug 02, 2018
@Bidexxi: I hear the J-10 doesn't have approval for foreign sales. Its strictly for the PLA Airforce. As for the Su-30, i would advocate we go for single engine Jets (e.g. Jf 17) in great numbers probably 2 squadrons than getting Su-30 which is a twin engine jet with crazily high maintenance costs. This is the thinking i believe made the NAF go for Jf17. You know how poor our defence budgets are in comparison to our GDP, population and land mass. Let us not buy planes that will only be kept in the hangar. In fact the JF17 Block 3 is to have AESA radar. If we get a few block 2's and then move on to get more of Block 3's when it is ready, then we are good.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by brosiye99(m): 11:22am On Jul 13, 2018
I think segzy3 has given us the confirmation as seen from Madam Sharon's response. However, i think it will only be fair for PTAD to pay from January till August or whenever the payment starts. 8-9 months arrears for 2018 would be better than just one month paid at the start. It will mean it will take a lot of time for pensioners to fully get back up financially.

PTAD should please have mercy and make a case for payment of at least 2018 arrears to the approving Ministry of Finance to ease this suffering. The others can then be paid later as she said. God help us
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by brosiye99(m): 10:14pm On Jul 12, 2018
@theowane: it's a question and observation I was trying to confirm. i also dont know how it will be handled and I am not saying that is what will happen. There has been little information on how the arrears will be handled hence my confusion and speculation.

earlier on this thread, someone said PTAD said they will pay the arrears little by little till it is completed. I feel this is because the amount from 2012 till date is said to be quite huge.

I pray they pay all or a substantially large part of the arrears when the payment starts. that will be the sweetest compensation for

these years of suffering.

as I said, let's see what will be paid DSC because they are also being owed arrears from their privatisation. that will give us an indication of what to expect.

please anyone close to the nitel staff that were liaising with PTAD should help confirm.

thanks.
