Why would want to go to Nigeria for your marriage and apply for EEA family permit in Nigeria.
Without going into details,i will suggest getting it sorted here in the UK through the CoE route.Appliying from Nigeria will entails going through the immigration rules instead of the EU directives based on the UK transposition/translation.

Proverb 19 V 9

Oh dear my sat Nav just brought me here.
Interestingly nigerians are very good in praise singing, there is no mush ado about him.
I believe there is God some where and was brought up to understand that.
Now pastor Chris, what do you people know about him ?I am sure i know his history from down to his family background as core members of Assemblies of God Church in the old Mid west district and his days in Ekpoma(BLW) and all the bla bla bla.
In the areas of Miracle workings i doubt him 100%,but i do agree that God do work some miracles through him just the same God work miracles for me and every ordinary man that can sincerely ask God for something.I know of 3 families that took autistic children to the Healing School, after spending 6-10 weeks in Lagos, coping with the bully attitudes of the Healing school members at the end of the day a prayer from Pastor chris has not done anything to change the situations of these children.
He is too flamboyant as an ordinary man of God,I personally expected him to help Sunny Okosun(his kinsman) in his medical treatment instead of spending heavy money on his publicity worldwide and drop his expensive life style with body guards.

I have read through the thread and do appreciates posts and their concern for the ailing man.
Firstly, dafidixone there is no need judging a man with his past especially at a time like this.On a religion thread,we must not judge and biblically its not duty of man to judge.
Secondly, the government of Nigeria is busy with BoU on how to loot and is not interested in the welfare of her citizens.
In a critical school of thought, you have to study what actually make a nation thick. Is not just the amount of money/wealth of the nation but the human resources therein. What make the United states of America a super power nation, then you begin to count the Irokos and Mahogany(ies) that are in the country.
Now an Indian has taken charge of the medical bills of Mr Okosun,we may not know the name of the man,but the Glory is ascribed to the nation INDIA.
Yes,Okosun is an Ishan Man from Edo state. We all know the state is financially sick from Igbinedion infection. But where are the people of the Great Ishan Kingdom, where are the people of Edo state they are all busy with political agendas and no time or money for their fellow brother.
Where are all the NGOs and charity organisations in Nigeria, where are the great pastors in Nigeria,if they can organise crusade to raise money for themselves why can't they organise one to raise money for Okosun.
Modern religious practice is failing in Nigeria because the religious leaders maybe busy with the usual ''BoU''.
Though i am not judging, maybe ranting.

You are my brother, your application may not go through with your wife claiming benefits.Your job prospect is not a prima facia to ignore your wife's present situation.Because is of the future, the EO will be concerned with the present.
To be on a safe side, consider my initial options.

Tos,

I am trying to be negative but only pointing you to the right direction.
I have not said your wife is claiming illegally, but disclosure of change of circumstances is a serious issue.Child benefit and child tax credit is guaranteed for those not umder immigration control(Bristish citizen,EU citizen and those with ILR).
Calculation of the CTC,HB, IS and CTB are based on household. If you are not a member of the household, then you should contribute to your children maintenence. This contribution will used by the DWP to calculate her IS.
A person claiming benefits cannot sponsor a visa applicant under the immigration rules EXCEPT there are information which are not yet declare on this thread to enable such application to go through.

NOUBLE,I like your faith and believe in God,but to be realistic-you are wrong to think that ,it is a right and not a privilege to get a spousal visa.Rights according to the Immigration rules are based on your fulfilment of laid down conditions.Except you/your spouse was exercising her EU treaty rights(this is a different issue)

Tos,the truth is bitter but must be said.
Non disclosure of the Child benefit and Child tax credit is not a problem non an issue.By inference the EO should know that your wife is claiming this two benefits since children are involved in the relationship. My concern is the Income support(IS).The EO will take this seriously in the light of Recourse to public funds and may refuse your application.

OPTION.

Your wife should take up a job ASAP before your EC interview.Even a part time job will be ok(agency).Stop the IS and get a letter from DWP  of the IS stoppage and also a letter from the new job.
Your savings is not important in this case especially since your wife is on IS.The EO judgement will be,your coming to the UK may not stop your wife from claiming the IS(Catch 22).That if your where having enough resourses your wife was not suppose to claim IS in the first instance.

BAD NEWS

You wife could be implicated for benefit fraud because,if you where married in 2006-2007 in traditional/civil respectively that means your wife is claiming IS and child tax credit as a single parents instead of a married woman and you are suppose to be responsible for payment of child maintenence directly or through Child support agency(CSA).
*Most likely your wife is also claiming Housing benefits and council tax tax benefits.*

2 cents-I am not a prophet of doom but speaking as a -------- .Sorry for the posting all this sh?t on the forum, but that is the reality.

Yesterday, Mr. Ibori, currently standing trial for corruption and money laundering before a Federal High Court in Kaduna was suddenly moved from Kaduna prison where he was remanded by a federal judge on the orders of the minister for internal affairs to the National Hospital Abuja.

Saharareporters learned that the atmosphere at the National Hospital is very tense as  and that  the whole place is in pandemonium.

Did the govt forge the illness story only to get James Ibori home?

The President's 'missing ears'
By Reuben Abati

advertisement

MEN Without Ears is the title of a 1984 novel by Nigerian writer, Ifeoma Okoye. With due respect, President Umaru Yar'Adua is beginning to behave like a man without ears. Being without ears refers to a certain obduracy, a peculiar inability to appreciate the truth. I see the same problem in the Yar'Adua presidency, seven months down the line. The President either needs the services of an ear doctor (I am sorry sir) or he needs to listen a bit more attentively. There are issues in this country which need to be addressed urgently, which the government is treating with kid gloves. I offer to draw the attention of the President, to a few of these without seeking to run the country for him. I confess that I know my place.

But if the President had been listening hard enough, he would have realized that there is a certain disquiet in this country today. The people are happy, very happy indeed, and they are willing to shout it from the rooftops if they are so allowed, that former President Obasanjo is already out of the way. That fellow made life so difficult for Nigerians in spite of the protestations of his promoters to the contrary. Yar'Adua's coming gave the ordinary Nigerian some hope. Our people thought that with a mild mannered man in power, the country would be able to make some progress.

Unfortunately, seven months after President Umar Adua took over government, there is some nostalgia in some places for the Obasanjo presidency. Obasanjo may have been a problematic President, brusque and rude, but he at least gave Nigerians some drama. He was a colourful man who had tasted power and who had a little idea about what to do with it. In comparison, President Yar'Adua is like a bucket of cold, iced water. Behind his back, he is known as President do-nothing. Baba Go slow. The emerging folklore is that he closes from work every day at 4 pm, and that on weekends, the Presidential Villa is ghost town because the President does not work on weekends. The difference between Obasanjo and Yar'Adua is like the difference between fire and water.

Nigeria is a 24-hour assignment all through the year. Nigerians want a President who can make things happen. They want a leader who knows what he is doing. For more than eight years, Nigerians have been looking for the so-called democracy dividends. They are nowhere nearer it today than they were eight years ago. Power supply is a major problem that needs to be solved without further ado. More than half of Nigerians live in houses that are perpetually in darkness. Even in the two cities: Lagos and Abuja, that have been declared liveable by international standards, life is "short, nasty and brutish."

The President of Nigeria cannot run a 9 am to 4 pm schedule like a civil servant waiting for a salary at the end of the month. It is bad that there are some Nigerians who are now saying that whatever may have been Obasanjo's shortcomings, he at least gave the impression of hardwork. This may be a Nigerian pattern: every new government always appears better than the preceding one, but in this case, the challenge is that of the need for the new government to begin to perform and to be seen to be making an effort to make a contribution. To be compared to the Obasanjo government and to be rated lower, this early, is a sign of misfortune.

I have mentioned power, but let us put the matter more directly. Nigeria suffers from a crisis of infrastructure. Nothing seems to be working here. The roads are bad. The country is full of unfinished projects. The hospitals are no longer mere consulting clinics as they were once described; they are no more than cemeteries. With a new President in office, Nigerians want to see a difference in their lives in these areas. Excuses have been given about why the Federal Government cannot tackle the problem of power supply, for example, but why do Nigerian leaders always give excuses? They have been put in office or they have smuggled themselves into power long enough for them to be able to govern the people and develop their lives. Excuses such as we have been having, lately, point not to a democratic instinct, but a failure of ability. When the Yar"adua government first came to power, there was some activity in the Ministry of Transportation with Diezani Madueke making some noise and shedding tears. I think Adenike Grange, the Minister of Health also made some useful statements. Then there was some activity in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Ministry, but at this moment all promises have died down.

The spot price of crude oil is now $100 per barrel. Ordinarily this should be cause for joy, but we cannot jubilate because Nigeria's fortune is dependent on oil and the associated forces of demand and supply. With the international price of oil now $100 per barrel, Nigeria as an oil producing company will make more money. But because it is dependent on refined product from Europe, due to the collapse of local refineries, the country will be at the mercy of importers of refined products, who will seek a premium on their investments. It is already being said that the pump price of petroleum products will be increased. This now looks like a question of time. But it will also be an invitation to chaos. How does President Yar'Adua hope to handle the challenge? If anything, Nigerians speaking through the Nigeria Labour Congress, do not want any further disruption to their lives.

President Yar'Adua runs one of the most colourless cabinets in recent Nigerian history. Give it to Obasanjo, whatever may have been his shortcomings, he had a Federal cabinet of names and personalities. Even during his first term. But President Yar'Adua is running a cabinet of sleep-walking giants. With the exception of about six of the Ministers, the rest are comfortably bearing the title without making any impact in the public arena. When is the President going to disband the present team and offer Nigerians a team of performers? He should do so now. He even behaves and sounds as if he does not know his own lieutenants. Few of them can speak confidently for government because they do not exactly know what their mandate is. They are in office because they have been put there by some of the powerful people who made Yar'Adua President.

Who are the President's handlers? He has been behaving as if he has no handlers. Every President needs to be managed. A country leader is as good as his managers. The job of the President's handlers is simple. They tell him what to do and what not to do. They are men of experience who have been in and out of the system and who have an idea of what it means to run a country. They bring the President into the mainstream of existing tradition while allowing him enough room to assert himself. This ensures creativity and continuity at the same time. But our new President has been behaving as a novice in the Presidency without any guides. The Presidency is too important an office to be handed over to learners. The effect is the kind of bungling and reversals that we have been witnessing. The impression we get at this end is that the President is being managed by the wrong set of people who are taking advantage of his seeming lack of experience and who seem to be pushing his Presidency in the wrong direction. Can President Yar'Adua please wake up? I think if anybody needs to go for a one year study leave at the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, it should be President Yar'Adua.

How bad the situation is can be measured in terms of the clumsiness of some of the recent events in the country. We have had a lot of motion being generated around what the previous administration did. But there is very little to hold on to coming from the present government. President Yar'Adua must begin to create his own history. His salary has just been increased. Good for him. But let him begin to earn that salary. If he does not know what to do at all, may be he should marry a new wife and have a loud wedding at Aso Villa. He has removed the EFCC Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu and we are all talking and writing, but after Ribadu, what next on the anti-corruption campaign?

Let him give Nigerians something meaningful to talk about while he is trying to figure out how to solve national problems. He promised a seven-point agenda. Where are we seven months later? Nigerians like him. No doubt about that. He comes across as a gentleman in comparison to the Owu man. But let him not make the Owu man look like a genius with his refusal to run a government that walks and talks like a government. And he must resist the temptation to turn the Presidency into an all-knowing temple and oracle.

If the President does not yet have a new year resolution, it should be this: this year. I shall run a government that functions, a government that is pro-active and not reactive, a government that can be judged by its results and not its complaints. The primary duty of a government is to ensure the welfare and happiness of a people.

Much i do about Ribadu-

300 EFCC policemen shun meeting with IG - I am still in charge at EFCC, says Ribadu
Chris Agbambu and Idowu Samuel, Abuja - 04.01.2008

THE over 300 policemen attached to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday failed to attend the meeting summoned by the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro.

Mr. Okiro had on Wednesday, through the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Administration, Ogbonna Onovo, summoned all the policemen attached to the commission to a meeting scheduled for 10 a.m on Thursday.

As of 12 noon on Thursday, only one of the policemen had shown up at the Force Headquarters. Nigerian Tribune gathered that angered by this, the police management team immediately got the Director of Operations of the EFCC, ACP Ibrahim Lamorde, on the phone, who said he was still in Lagos and was not aware of the meeting.

The source revealed that Lamorde told the management team that he was busy putting finishing touches to some cases whose reports he said President Umaru Yar’Adua had demanded for.

Nigerian Tribune further gathered that the chairman of the anti-graft body, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, failed to pass on the directive to the policemen, who claimed they were not aware of such a meeting.

Nigerian Tribune got in touch with the Inspector-General of Police, who confirmed that the meeting was supposed to be held, but that none of the policemen came around.

He told the Nigerian Tribune that most of them confirmed that they did not get the information about the meeting as most of them could not be got on the phone.

Okiro, however, said that he had directed the DIG “A” to write to all the affected policemen to attend the meeting now scheduled for next week.

He added that they had nothing to fear as the meeting was to address them on recent developments in the commission, and also to assure them that everything was well.

Meanwhile, Mallam Ribadu has said the fact that he is proceeding on a year’s course does not mean he has been sacked as the boss of the commission.

He also denied employing the media to launch a propaganda war aimed at keeping him in office at all costs. Ribadu said these during an exclusive interview with the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja.

Nigerian Tribune had on Thursday exclusively reported that Ribadu might ignore the order of the IG to proceed on the course. Ribadu said he had no misunderstanding with the Federal Government or the police authorities over the issue of the course contrary to general impression.

Ribadu stressed that since the news of his proposed one year course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) at Kuru, Plateau State broke, he had never made a public statement either directly or indirectly through any media organisation.

He said as a public officer, it was not proper for him to use the media to make a statement about his feelings on a government directive and that he would continue to restrain himself from speaking to the media on the issue of his course.

He said he was amazed at the dimension the issue of the course had taken in the media and that this had led to the wrong reading of the media and his attitude to the course.

Ribadu said he had been cautious all along about his actions, conduct and statements as the EFCC boss in view of the fact that he could be deliberately misunderstood by some people.

“The fact that I am to proceed on a course does not mean that I have been sacked. It is the media that has been suggesting that. There is no big deal about attending a course once it is proper for you to do so. Then I wonder why all the noise about Ribadu going on a course.”

He said he never expected to remain as the chairman of the EFCC for ever from the day he assumed office, adding that as a Muslim, he had always believed that whatever had a beginning must have an end.

“When I was appointed as the EFCC chairman, I took up the task hoping to serve my fatherland to the best of my ability. It is a difficult job, no doubt, but what keeps you going is your sincerity of purpose, commitment and the desire to help Nigeria attain a height in the fight against corruption.

“This is me and I would always be me. I have nothing personal against anyone. The thing is that I know I have a job to do and I must do it. In the course of doing the job, I might have stepped on the toes of some people while some people also admire us for what we are doing. Such is life.”

The EFCC boss said the fight against corruption launched in Nigeria since 2003 had achieved good results through improved international image of Nigeria on the corruption index as yearly gauged by the Transparency International.

Oh Dear,no viable project is a mistake. But management of this projects is the problem. In the so called western countries courses are been developed like- Innovations and knowledge management. Most projects in Nigeria are built based on political plans and not economic plans.Examples-Ajaokuta steel plant,Oshogbo steel,Delta steel. There where viable projects, the downside where the geographical locations, the projects where build by different countries/contractor.Billets produced cannot be fined to rods/sheets etc in another plant(s) because of difference machine settings.
I did my NYSC at Nigeria Machine tools Oshogbo(a door neighbour to the steel plant) and there where suppose to complement each other which never was.The machine tools was still been subsidise  by the FG as at 1995.There was no  knowledge to turn around the vision of the project(though i don't know the state now).
In a nutshell the government should allow people that are selfless into the governance and after 10 years the dividends will be visible.
