hinohsend: I'd rather the Final and get bronze or silver. Likewise. Fixtures were basd on seeding (best seeds face lowest seed etc) rather than random fixtures. This being the case our participants were always going to get more difficult matches.Aruna is ranked 40 and Toriola is ranked 120. Until they improve their rankings /seeding,they'll always get difficult matches. |

Talent is talent na doesn't matter if you are born anywhere, talent always shines through That's true to an extent, however, environmental conditioning, training infrastructure, financial support etc helps nuture or erode talent. Unfortunately, the Nigerian factor tends to erode talent.Says why we've only had 3 gold medals in 54 years of participating in the Olympics and a total of 23 medals or so. This can be changed though. |

sekundosekundo: You are the one quoting out of point here, no doctrine made Apostle Paul not to marry, your popes don't marry cos of Catholic doctrine. Your good friday and your abstinence from red meat on that day are not biblical. Your Catholic Church is not the mother of all Churches, the first church was SDA which was later highjacked by the Roman Empire and changed the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday and that's the origin of Sunday worship. My dear, everything about Catholic is based on doctrine and not biblical. 1st church was Seventh Day Adventist !!! Hahaha |

crusadistic: These are mostly pseudo-history which are based on the same catholic tradition that promotes idolatory,so why should they be believed? In the same vein, why should you believe early Christian history? Who decides what is true history? Do you know it's the same tradition you mock that decided what scriptures became the Bible? The Catholic Church does not promote idolatry, BTW. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Do Catholics Really Worship Mary? by btoks: 5:53am On May 18, 2016 |
DoctorAlien: Even if you refuse to believe that the Bible is GOD's inspired word, you will surely believe history's attestation to the correctness and truthfulness of the Bible.
The prophecies in the Bible about kingdoms and cities like Tyre, Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome have come to pass EXACTLY as it was fortold.
The first and 2nd destruction of Jerusalem happened as they were foretold in the Bible.
The massacre of millions of GOD's people by the catholic church in the dark ages was foretold by the Bible. The deposition of the pope in 1798 by Napoleon and his restoration to power was exactly foretold by the Bible.
The mark of the antichrist will soon be in full effect.
Plenty of reasons to trust the Bible as GOD's word. I believe the bible contains the word of God as determined by the church. I'd like to know where it was foretold that the Catholic Church will massacre millions of people and when this event supposedly occurred. Napoleon in the Bible? !! |
Christianity Etc › Re: Do Catholics Really Worship Mary? by btoks: 5:48am On May 18, 2016 |
DoctorAlien: The Gospel according to Matthew was written by Matthew(a.k.a Levi), the tax collector whom Jesus called to be His disciple. The book of the Acts of the Apostles was written by Luke, who accompanied Paul on most of his missionary journeys.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of GOD, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" 2 Tim 3:16
You should read the Bible because it's GOD's word. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of GOD." Matt. 4:4
Moreover, search and see that all the Bible foretold would happen at their due time has happened, is happening and will happen as it is recorded in the Bible. The authors of the books cannot be found via sola scriptura but only known via church tradition. 2Tim 3:15 only refers to the OT scriptures known at the time. NT books hadn't been completed or confirmed as scripture. How does one know the pure word of God without the Church to determine them? In the beginning and indeed today (via sola scriptura ) were many competing writings and movements that all claim to be Christian yet teach things at odds with each other, how is that standard objectively determined in the absence of a teaching office? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Do Catholics Really Worship Mary? by btoks: 2:06pm On May 10, 2016 |
DoctorAlien: It's about time you started reading your Bible for yourself and begged GOD for insight into His word.
When Jesus comes back, believe me: many will be disappointed. They think they will be granted access into Heaven because their church has large membership.
"...Wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth into destruction, and many there be which go in thereat" Matt 7:13
The only church GOD recognises is the church that lives strictly by the Bible, and not the commandments of men.
Surely, ceremonies and pompous rites may appear fascinating, but you are to look deeper and see if your church is obeying GOD or whether she is worshipping a mere mortal, called "the holy father".
Learn a lesson from the early Berean Christians: "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so" Act 17:11
Read the Bible and practise only the Bible, trusting in GOD wholeheartedly! A lot of assumptions here; tell us why we must read the bible. How do you know the books of the bible are inspired scripture? Who wrote the book of Matthew and Acts? What gives you the assurance that your assumptions are correct? |

Kamsified: Daily novena prayer. Day 10
Today, the 10th day of May, we're praying for btoks.
O God, infinite beauty. Wretched as we are, we approach in humility your throne, with thanksgiving and petition. Thanksgiving for the numerous mercies received from you, and petition for the many needs that weigh heavily on us. Look kindly upon our prayers, especially that of btoks who we pray for today and of mine(you may add yours) through the merits of the passion of your son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for us dearest mother Mary, as we offer you this ten roses of hail Mary, with eyes filled with hope and filial love. Amen.
10 Hail Marys.
Psalm 138 I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; before the angels I will sing your praise. I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame. When I called, you answered me; you greatly emboldened me. May all the kings of the earth praise you, Lord, when they hear what you have decreed. May they sing of the ways of the Lord, for the glory of the Lord is great. Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly; though lofty, he sees them from afar. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand you save me. The Lord will vindicate me; your love, Lord, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands.
Special Psalm: Psalm 121
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. Amen |

Syncan: From today's Gospel Jn 4:43-54
At that time Jesus left [Samaria] for Galilee. For Jesus himself testifiedthat a prophet has no honor in his native place. When he came into Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, since they had seen all he had done in Jerusalem at the feast; for they themselves had gone to the feast.
Galilee, how happy a place it is, to have welcomed the Lord. At a time when Jesus would rather not perform a miracle in His home town, He performed a second in Galilee. Are you a Galilee for Christ? Is your body a sanctuary of rest for Jesus? A place where He gets consolation from many sacrilege against Him? A Holy place of repose as against those who receive Him unworthily in Eucharist? This is the time to wash and clean, this is the period of grace and mercy. Let's avail ourselves of this opportunity offered by the Lenten season, and make ourselves Galilee's for Christ. While you do this dear one, expect your miracle soon.
Today let me walk in prayers with btoks, as we prepare ourselves in this period, may His grace pour out on you like showers and may the Lord be well pleased in you.
Good morning brethren, a splendid day ahead to all. Amen. Thanks |

Stop the idolatry, time is short. And what does the bible instruct? Also, how do we know we have to follow the 4 gospels, for example? |
